“Sir Faith?” I snapped back to reality, lifting my gaze to Colleen after she called my name. It had completely slipped my mind that she was standing in front of my desk, explaining the details of the new project. Yet, since she began speaking, it was as if I hadn’t heard a word.

My mind was wandering because it was two weeks since Chloe and Poppy left the house, and we still hadn’t seen Poppy again. Every time Mom tries to contact Mrs. Herald to borrow Poppy, Mrs. Herald makes excuses, claiming that Poppy is busy, but never clarifies what she’s busy with.

As for Chloe, she still drops by my office every afternoon before heading home, just like she used to. However, ever since I heard the hurtful words she directed at her sister, I’ve lost interest in her.
