The Missing Girl

The ladies sat at the table, peering at Tizzy, and she continued to talk about her amazing experience in Brazil.

“That’s right. He invited you there, and I can’t imagine what you must have gone through,” Angela says, rubbing Tizzy's shoulder to comfort her.

“Hold on, let me finish telling the rest.”

Tony never thought about a gang of mobsters coming into a nightclub and raiding it and taking beautiful young women. And he never thought he would ever be held at gunpoint and hit him in the head so hard, it felt as if his skull had been split open. Thank goodness he survived with only a slight concussion. Even though he was injured, it didn't stop him from worrying about me. Tony realizes he has to leave the matter in the local police's hands, with the hope that they will find me still alive.

Here To Work, Not Play“All I’m going to tell you ladies is that when I got to Paris, I felt relieved and very much inspired. But I didn’t invite Mr. Tony because I’m going to be working with a new client. And I always find new inspiration when I take on new clients, and I don’t need to be distracted.”“We see you have a new loo,” Addie says, smiling.Tizzy, with her chocolate brown skin and hazel eyes, stood out against the backdrop of her long hair, which was now pin-straight. It framed her slender face and striking features with a polished sophistication that momentarily silenced the room. “What happened to your curls? Them being gone has something to do with this new inspiration?” Dynasty asked as everyone thought the same thing.“Nope. My curls met a straightening iron.” Tizzy said, laughing as everyone sighed agitatedly at her sarcasm.“I like your new look, but I like the curls, too,” Skylar says.“I’m tired of the curls. They make me look like a five-year-old.” “Not to me the

Alone In My ThoughtsOnce inside my apartment, I took a refreshing shower. The warm water rejuvenated my senses. My heart raced as I reminded myself that time was passing by so fast—I had only two days left to delve into the depths of Beverly's Journal. So, I prepared a quick dinner, sat at the dining room table, and began to read. Beverly hung her head, fighting back the tears. Percy quietly turns back around.Beverly looked up into the rearview, seeing Percy's worried expression. Then, she sighs, wiping the creases of her eyes, "I just got a call from an American lawyer who is representing my friend Lynette DuBois, telling me that she and her husband have left their child to me in their Will. A child, Percy!""What!?" Percy replied, surprisingly."Lynette has often told me how selfish and pathetic her siblings had been in the past."Though Beverly's life had recently become emotionally disruptive and hectic, she thought of Nettie and how kind she had been to her over the years. She

Reality Set InIn the days that followed, I grappled with an overwhelming sense of being unwanted and unloved. Each moment transformed into a struggle, as I fought to keep my emotions at bay. Beneath the surface, bitterness and anger simmered, threatening to engulf me. I carried deep-seated resentment towards those who entered my life after my parents' passing, their presence a constant reminder of my loss. These emotions, rooted in the innocence of my youth, weighed heavily on my heart, a painful contrast to the carefree days I once shared with Beverly. I had tried so hard to suppress and bury my past, and the question lingered: Why, Beverly, do you want me to relive all this pain and turmoil? It feels as though the wounds of my past are being reopened, and I struggle to understand the purpose behind it.I’m so full of disturbing thoughts that I had to drag myself out of bed, seeking a drink to soothe my frayed nerves. I was weary of self-pity, and the tears had long dried up. With

A Thirst For PainTossing and turning into the night isn't fun anymore. It's been going on far too long, and I can feel myself slipping into the darkness. I have been up all night, delving into a world I had long forgotten—a dark and empty world. I can’t sleep, and there is no stopping the tumultuous feelings that swell in me. I tell myself not to let one tear drop from under my closed lids. Images of what I went through back then, and how scared and alone I felt, were so vivid, it was as if I was reliving the memories all over again. My family's faces are so clear in my head, and how they treated me like I was nothing. How could they oppress a child, as if I weren’t their flesh and blood? Sharp pain enters my already weak body. But I became so filled with rage that I didn’t care. I turn my face into my pillow, beating my fist against the mattress as I cry silently, uncontrollable sobs shake my entire body. It’s only later, much later, that I fall asleep again. Sunlight slants acros

Paris, France: January - New YearI saw him in my dreams again. He entered my bedroom door, and I sat up quickly as we stared at each other silently. My blood begins to boil inside my body instantly. I looked for something to pick up and strike him with. The only things in my grasp were my night lamp and alarm clock. He slowly approached me, and I wondered if I would be quick enough to reach for the lamp.I waited for him to get closer to avoid missing my aim. "Can we talk?" He asked.Sheppard's voice only made me want to end his existence so he would never speak to me again. "Yes, come and let us talk," I said seductively.Sheppard sat on my bed, and before I knew it, my hand was gripped around the lamp's base. I began beating him with the lamp, each blow with a blunt force. Again, I hit him across the face and head!I could hear him pleading to stop, but I didn't. So, instead, I relentlessly hit him until I couldn't hear his voice speak any longer. That's when my eyes opened. The

Soak And WetI stood by the window, captivated by the trees swaying gracefully in the brisk wind, their vibrant green leaves twirling and fluttering like colorful confetti caught in an enthusiastic dance. I set my heart on filling my home with fresh air, eager to immerse myself in the joy of preparing a sumptuous meal just for me this weekend. As the soft afternoon light began its slow descent, casting a golden hue over everything, I remained blissfully ignorant of the thick, dark clouds gathering ominously on the horizon, transforming the once-blue sky into a heavy, brooding gray, signaling an impending storm I had yet to foresee.Absorbed in a gripping novel, I scarcely noticed the gentle hum of the television from the kitchen, where the tantalizing notes of a simmering sauce filled the air. "Beverly's story is becoming irresistible," I thought, reluctantly tearing my gaze from the pages of my book. I strolled over to the stove, where the rich savory aroma of garlic, tomatoes, and he

The Dark Prince:My mind is a whirlwind of activity, a natural consequence of my profession. I find my eyes perpetually scanning the crowd, attentive to every hand gesture and flicker of body language, always aware of potential exits. Yet, amidst all this observation, one sight caught my attention: the grand staircase, alive with movement. Guests flowed down the ornate steps, laughter intertwining seamlessly with the upbeat melodies from the live band, creating a palpable energy in the air.I'm particularly adept at reading people; it's a skill I've honed despite the intricate nuances of human behavior. The rest of us, however, were stirring, shaking off the remnants of sleep as O'Hare International Airport came into view, a vibrant cityscape teeming with life."Wow! A collective sigh of relief swept over us, a tangible sign that the arduous 15-hour journey, marked by turbulence that jolted our bodies, was finally over. Thank goodness we were in first class. I can only imagine what we would have had to endure being six feet tall and sitting in those cramped seats. It would have certainly tested our endurance, but the plane ride here was finally behind us. Daeseung, a ball of energy, leaned eagerly towards Victor and Greg."Hey, wake up! We've arrived!" he in
