Havermouth, Present Time

Aislen crossed to the vampire warehouse with Toby, and he knocked on the door. After a moment something inside moved, shaking the door as it did so. “They have secured their warehouse,” he explained to her with an air of approval. “By blocking up the doorways.”

A young man opened the door and regarded them both without speaking. His clothing gave the impression of being old and well cared for, the elaborate embroidery on the high collar and turned back cuffs faded but otherwise perfect, and the shirt that he wore below it tea-stain white and crumpled as if the fabric had lost its shape due to over-washing and age.

“Is Tyler here?” Toby asked.

The young man closed the door without responding.

“They’re very friendly,” Toby whispered exaggeratedly sliding her a look out of the corner of his eye.

“So, I see,” she replied dryly.

The door opened and a thin, gaunt cheeked man looked through his hair at them, before stepping to the side to reveal Tyler who grinned. “H

OMG, I can't stand August. What an arsehole I have never liked him from the beginning or Abigail! For what they did to Aislen and Heath, Rhett and Cameron. August is just as evil as Van Helsings, and I hope they all pay for their transgressions. Let the town and their pack suffer. :(

  • The Pack's Rebels   Heath and Talen's Shower

Havermouth, Present TimeTalen had been right about the other door. The hallway had been opulent, his feet sinking into the carpet, and the wallpaper textured so that the light from the wall sconces caught the fabric making it gleam. Near the entrance to the main chamber, doorways opened into more modest, but tasteful corridors.Down them Talen glimpsed wait staff and maids busily wheeling covered carts. The business end of the opulence, he thought. The kitchens, the laundry rooms, the storage places. There were two more intersections of the hallway, each corridor lined with doorways, the set out, and décor reminding him of upper-class hotels. They were taken left at the second intersection. Many of the doors had plaques on them denoting who resided within. The room that they were taken to was at the end of the corridor. A door marked “Emergency Exit” led into a metal stairway that went both up and down, and Talen wondered just how deep the bunker went and what lay below. They entered

  • The Pack's Rebels   Interrogating The Van Helsings

Havermouth, Present TimeTalen watched from down the hallway as Heath knocked on a door. His mate had gently suggested that he wanted to go alone, and so Talen and Rohan had fallen back respectfully. The door did not open, but Heath moved closer to the wood, resting his cheek against it to listen to the other side.“It’s me mum,” he said just loud enough to be heard on the other side. “I’m alone.”After a moment, the door opened, and Heath slipped inside.Talen met the eyes of the other alpha, Rohan, who flushed uncomfortably and shrugged. “Some alphas use a heavy hand with their mates,” the werewolf mumbled. “Mr. Gales’ hand is heavier than most. Mrs. Gale won’t come out if there’s, you know, obvious signs, or he might be embarrassed.”“He should be embarrassed,” Talen replied grimly.“Yeah, but she will bear the brunt of his embarrassment,” Rohan said. “So, she stays inside. There’s a saying that what happens within an alpha’s home is that alpha’s business.”“Even if he’s beating hi

Havermouth, Present TimeHeath had not returned from his visit to his mother; however, Cameron and Rhett had completed their shower, and both, dressed in matching green uniforms, were working their way through the food on the table.“Talen!” Cameron half stood when Talen entered and then caught himself as Rohan followed Talen into the room, exchanging a wary look with Rhett. “Never mind,” he said as he sat back down. “Did you have a nice walk?”“We interrogated the prisoners,” Talen told them as Rohan closed the door. “Nothing too surprising.” He sat next to Cameron and placed his hand on Cameron’s thigh, giving it a squeeze in acknowledgement that his mates had something that they wanted to share but that they did not intend to do so in front of Rohan. “Rohan is going to share with us August’s plans.”“I guess I am,” Rohan agreed sinking down into the seat next to Rhett. “We are in contact with packs throughout the country who have been preparing for war under August’s direction. Havermouth, Present TimeSigrid drove. When she had headed to the driver’s side of the car, she saw Greg do a double take and had smiled to herself in amusement. He hadn’t protested and had gotten into the passenger seat. She had debated the wisdom of using the car lights but had decided that a Van Helsing would do so, and so seeing the 4WD pass without lights was bound to cause interest. The route took them past the hotels where the Van Helsings had established their home base. Sigrid kept her speed unhurried. She could feel Greg’s tension as he twisted in the seat, his eyes scanning the lit buildings and the vehicles parked out front.“They think that have won,” she said softly. “They are there in their comfortable hotel rooms, with the lights bright above them, and they think that they have this town on its knees. But we know that this town has some fight left in it, hmm?”“You’re right,” he agreed relaxing as they left the hotels behind them. “They are about to get the surprise of

Havermouth, Present TimeAs the night darkened outside the window, Harry moved around the room lighting candles and Jules tried to concentrate on the map of the town that was spread out before him and not on the spectacular beauty and grace of his mate. He wasn’t the only one distracted by it, he thought, catching Jacob Rever with his mouth hanging open tracking Harry’s movements.Sensing his gaze Jacob’s eyes met Jules’ and he flushed. “Sorry Jules. Right, so you were saying, we’ll hit these roadblocks here, here, and here. Diana?”Diana Boyston nodded. “I’ll use the distraction to move the children to the new safe houses and reunite them with their parents.”“James Jones took a crew to the MegaStore earlier,” Casey Donald told them. “They’re planning on taking out the Van Helsings’ generator and as many of their cars as they can. It’s only fair that if we have to get by without power, they do too.”“That should keep them busy,” Jules’ smile was vindictive. “We’d best finish up for t

  • The Pack's Rebels   Who Is It?

Havermouth, Present TimeSweat darkened August’s armpits and slicked his hair to his scalp. A drip hung from the tip of his nose, shaking with the inhale and exhale of his breath. The room stank, stale urine and sweat overwhelming any lingering residue of Aislen’s mates and her time in the room, and mingling with the dust and ancient smoke that had permeated the wood.Aislen rolled her head on her shoulders, stretching out muscles that were stiff and aching. After her initial revulsion, she had dug deeper into August’s brain. Tyler had excused himself, but Toby had remained and still leaned up against the corner, watching with an unreadable expression on his face.Aaron had joined them with a notepad and pen and had sat in the corner to take notes. Something which Aislen found useful as some of what she was getting from August made no sense to her, but she didn’t know whether it might be meaningful to someone from the pack, or someone with more military experience.“Well?” Aaron asked

Havermouth, Present Time“Park around the back,” Sigrid told Greg.“It’s further for Tom to walk,” Dan protested.“But out of sight,” Sigrid told him over her shoulder. “And we do not know how far away pursuit is. Better for us to carry Tom to where we go, than for the car to be a flag pointing to our destination.”They couldn’t argue with that logic and rounded the ancient warehouse to it’s rear, where similarly abandoned vehicles including those from Zeus which had carried her across the rickety old train bridge had been abandoned. The warehouse itself was bereft of life. As they got out of the car, the night air picking back Sigrid’s hair and dragging at her skirt, looking up at the shadowy building, she thought there was nothing about it that would make her think that there was life within. She paused a moment, looking around, remembering Harry’s werewolf’s advice that they had spread out. She could just faintly see light through a warehouse to one side and behind. Perhaps that wa

  • The Pack's Rebels   Sigrid and Samuel

Havermouth, Present Time“We should make the trip to the MegaStore and get some sleep,” Harry’s werewolf, Jules, decided as the group shuffled back out of the narrow hallway and into the night. He ran his hands wearily through his hair, his eyes shadowed and tired.“Can’t,” Aislen shook her head, although like Harry’s werewolf, she looked about ready to fall over from exhaustion. “My boys aren’t back yet. The werewolves haven’t responded to my demand for hostage exchange, and the werewolves I sent with the message have been gone for hours.”“I’m sorry?” Jules frowned. “I feel like I’m missing something. Cameron isn’t back?” He looked up at Harry and Sigrid could see his mind working frantically. “Something’s wrong if he’s not back,” he said grimly.“Yeah, what’s wrong is that the werewolves at the bunker decided to take them prisoner,” Aislen replied crisply. “And August and his goons came to try to take me back to them but got themselves caught. So now August is enjoying the comforts

Havermouth, The Present Aislen sat on the bench seat of one of the Unimogs whilst Talen and the Heath met with Rohan. There were lot of hand signals gesturing beyond the destruction of the farm and solemn expressions on their faces. When she looked up, she could see that Rhett and Cameron were busy helping to carry injured to the waiting vehicles and that the vampires and werewolf soldiers were destroying what remained of the farm’s buildings, ensuring that there was no way that the Van Helsings could return and continue to use the site. The crashing and shouting as they tore the buildings to pieces was giving Aislen a headache and she paused in her poetry writing to pinch her brows. “Here,” Bianca climbed nimbly up the Unimog’s ladder and offered Aislen a bottle of water and two pills. “Paracetamol. You’ve been sitting here rubbing at your head, so I know you’ve got a headache.” “Thanks,” Aislen took the pills and washed them back with the water. “Ah shit,” she said after she’d sw

  • The Pack's Rebels   Freedom

Havermouth, The PresentRhett and Heath shifted into human form and the Triquetra threw their arms around each other and him, their hands smearing mud and blood onto each other unheeding in their relief that all four had made it through unscathed. Over Heath’s shoulder, Talen saw Morgana slip and slide through the mud, her cheeks streaked with tears as she saw them, and he held out a hand, welcoming her in, the Triquetra pulling her into the center of the embrace. It was where she belonged, Talen thought as he leaned his face into her hair and breathed the scent of his female mate into his lungs. Morgana had always been the center, the heart of their family, the piece that made the rest of them make sense together.“Everyone’s in one piece,” she pivoted slowly round the circle of her men, inspecting each for injury, smearing away blood and mud with her hands in order to make sure that they didn’t hide wounds below.“We’re fine. We are fine,” Heath laughed wetly. “Really, Aislen, we’re

  • The Pack's Rebels   To The King

Havermouth, The PresentTalen kept watch as Harry set the explosives under the last of the guns. Of all five machine gun stations, this one was the most exposed, and Talen could feel the prickle of stress sweat between his shoulder blades. They had debated leaving this one completely and hoping that the explosions from the other stations would be enough, but the Van Helsings on duty there had been called to help load a helicopter that was waiting to take off, leaving the station as an open invitation for sabotage. When Harry eased out from under the station and slunk through the shadows to Talen’s side, the relief dragged through Talen’s muscles like the heavy refractory period after sex. He was exhausted, and that terrified him as he knew that the battle was ahead. Get through it, he told himself. Win this battle, and then take your mates to the river house, as Cameron had suggested, for three days and nights of f-king and feasting upon his mates as he turned them.It would be bliss.

  • The Pack's Rebels   SpellCasting

Havermouth, The PresentIt was one thing to ride a Unimog through town, and another to travel on one long distance for over an hour, Aislen thought grimly. She was certain that most of her bones had been shaken loose and that when she eventually did stand up, she’d collapse in a jumble of limbs like in a cartoon. She’d been trying to work on another Secret Keeper post, working in a notebook that she’d stolen from one of the desks in the bunker, but her handwriting was so shaky that she wasn’t sure she’d be able to read it afterwards. She also wasn’t sure if she was being optimistic in it’s message. However, if she wasn’t writing, then she had to focus on what was happening around her, where they were going, and the fact that they had to be getting close, and there still was no sign of Talen. Was he okay? She would know, wouldn’t she? She asked herself. If something had happened to him, she was sure that she would feel it somehow, like a wound to her heart.“He’s fine,” she said out lo

  • The Pack's Rebels   The Shed

Havermouth, The PresentThe farm’s vegetable gardens had been trampled underfoot, without any care for the vegetables and fruits left unharvested, the Van Helsings having abandoned any pretence of the site being anything other than what it was – a military facility. Entrance into the farm from the main road was controlled by guards and cement roadblocks, however, away from the public side of the farm, the security relaxed. There were flood lights set at key points, but their focus was inward and in daylight, they had been turned off.One field contained neat rows of tents, and a portable shower and toilet building which was in use as Harry and Talen crept around it’s edges, someone singing an atrocious rendition of a popular love song as they showered. It made Talen pause, hearing that singer, and a fury began to burn in the pit of his stomach. The Van Helsings at this site were so at ease, so comfortable, that they sang in the shower, where he and his mates had spent nearly every mom

  • The Pack's Rebels   It’s Time

Havermouth, The PresentHeath woke to discover that he had slept through Talen leaving and that pissed him off as whilst he recognized the vampire’s seniority and experience, Heath was faster and stronger, and he felt that it just made sense for him to be included in the mission, and that if anyone should have been left behind, it should have been Harry.Sigrid and her Triquetra had control of the bunker by the time Heath’s Triquetra left their room with Aislen. They met briefly in the room and ran over the sparse information that Talen had given to Cameron and Rohan before his departure and to try to piece together a plan of attack with Rohan – something which was difficult as they had no idea the total size of Haven Farm, and Heath could only roughly sketch the areas that he had been admitted to when visiting Charlotte, and on the times he’d been on the escorted tour.None of the maps that they had showed property boundaries, and even Sigrid’s Triquetra’s fancy toys didn’t have any

Havermouth, The PresentTalen slipped out of the bed when the wait staff arrived in the morning, pulling on yesterday’s trousers in order to open the door and pressing his fingers to his lips to indicate that they should be quiet as they delivered the breakfast and clothing. He admired the efficiency of the bunker, despite the disruption to the leadership everything continued to run like clockwork and thanked the staff quietly as they departed. He showered quickly and dressed in the clean clothing, before creeping back out into the main living area.Cameron looked up from the table. “You’re up early.”“Shh,” Talen placed his finger on his lips as he checked to make sure that Cameron had closed the bedroom door behind him. “You should be asleep, Cameron,” he said quietly as he crossed to ruffle the werewolf alpha’s russet curls.“I smelled pancakes,” Cameron told him with a bright smile as he uncovered them. “Ahhh,” he sighed in satisfaction. “Would you just look at that? He teased the tips with his teeth, knowing that the pinch of the clip would make them sensitive, and slid his hand down her stomach to rub against her clit as Heath positioned himself.“Would you like some Edison brand lube?” Rhett’s grin was wicked. He had wrapped his arm around Cameron, holding his redhaired mate by the throat, just under the jaw, and Cameron’s face was slack with pleasure as Rhett’s other hand jerked his c-ck viscously.“Hmm,” Talen laughed through his nose. “Go on then,” he encouraged them.
