The Music

Three hours pass. Madison is dropped home by the nurse.

“Thanks again, Nurse Chan,” Madison says, waving at the nurse as she begins to drive off.

“My pleasure, Madison. Take care,” the nurse says. She then watches Madison climb the stairs into his apartment. Her eyes begin to glow with a burning intensity of green fire before she pulls off.

As the nurse drives away, Madison opens the door in the apartment and throws his backpack on the floor. Exhausted from the flashes that he had seen, Madison plops on the couch and reaches for the remote.

“Hey, Ben,” Madison says, “Got off early. Was not feeling good, so the nurse told me to take it easy. Look, I know I’m technically grounded, but can I still have ... Hello?” Madison then pauses.
