"I don't need money. My father needs money," Lily muttered under her breath.

"What did you say?" Garrett asked. He clearly heard her and was surprised by her brazenness.

"Nothing," Lily replied weakly.

Lily wanted to tell him no, tell him that he was ruining her life, and tell him that she did not need money. It was her family. She had never experienced something so shameful as her experiences before tonight. Lily wanted to reject him, but where would that leave her and her family?

"I wanted to apologize for what my brother did to you. I don't know why my parents agreed to this," Garrett remarked in a light tone.

He had no desire at all for her to be embarrassed in such a manner. Garrett just wanted to know if she was untouched. He knew a thorough physical examination occurred but it was so easy for results to be fabricated. Smelling her, confirmed for him that there was no question. Lily was untouch.

When Lily recalled being poked and prodded by the pack doctor and the pity she felt from him, she felt a chill run down her spine. All the questions that were asked still made her blush in embarrassment. She concluded that Garrett, not his mother and father, was the one who wanted this. It shocked her to hear otherwise.

Lily whispered her response, "It's all right." There was nothing she could do to defend herself. She couldn't complain because she knew her family needed the money, and why not be bound to him? Lily had already lost her mate and her family didn't want her. Nothing mattered. Lily merely wished this man did not turn out to be some sort of pervert. "All I ask is that you be gentle."

'This is wrong. She is in so much pain. I can hear her wolf crying. Your brother is a bastard,' Berric, Garrett's wolf, said to him. He was intrigued by Lily's smell. He couldn't quite place the scent, but as soon as he saw her, he knew that couldn't go through with rush mating with her. Lily was still healing mentally.

Lily withdrew her hand from his and stopped putting up a fight. She anticipated he would ravage her within the next second after he had already sprung upon her. However, she was surprised when Garrett covered her with a blanket.

Lily questioned, "What's the matter?"

"You wanted to wait until marriage. So, we will wait. When you're ready, we can continue," Garrett answered and exited the room.

As quickly as she could, Lily switched on the light since she had no idea if Garrett was teasing her or not. She had the intention of following him, but she didn't have the courage to do so. The only thing left of the man was his strong cologne.

The back of a chair close to the door was covered in a dress and Lily's jacket. She waited for a little over ten minutes to make sure that Garrett hadn't changed his mind.  After hastily putting on her clothes, Lily exited the room. She entered the elevator, ready to head to Tiffany's house. Lily couldn't go home.

'I'll just have my belongings delivered there. That way I won't have to face them,' she thought.

Unexpectedly, when the elevator doors opened, there was a huge group of reporters standing outside the entrance, waiting for her to appear. The sight of it made Lily's face go pale. Her image was going to be plastered all over the latest headlines. 'So much for word not spreading', Lily thought.

The flashing lights all landed on her at the same time, and the microphone was so near that it was almost touching her face. Lily covered her eyes with her hands until they diverted the light away from her face.

A reporter questioned in an aggressive manner, "We received a tip that you and Garrett Hunter, the second son of the Grey Blood Pack, are engaged. Is this true?"

Another reporter inquired, "Where is Garrett Hunter, and why didn't he come out with you?"

A third reporter approached Lily and asked, "You are here alone. Was Garrett disappointed in bed?"

This question was so disrespectful that Lily couldn't help but glare at the third reporter. It was common knowledge that Garrett was an unattractive man with little interest in finding his mate. People assumed it was due to some disability.

When Lily attempted to go back inside the elevator, she discovered that she could not reach the button to get the elevator door to open. Cornered, she had no choice but to respond to their inquiries.

The Hunter family was deeply involved in various political activities. By sending the reporters to this location, someone was obviously trying to target Garrett and put the Hunter family and their pack in a negative light.

'I have to be careful with what I say.' Lily reasoned to herself, 'I absolutely cannot botch this, or it will be all over the gossip magazines in the morning.'

The action that was taking place outside of the hotel could be seen clearly from a car that was parked directly across the street from the hotel. The driver watched the event play out before dialing someone on his cell phone.

The driver said, "Sir, it seems someone released information about your movements tonight. Do you want me to handle it?"

The individual on the other end of the line said, "Yes. Don't scare her."

Right at the moment when the driver stepped out of the car and began to walk across the street, Lily proceeded to confront the reporters. She quickly put on a calm demeanor and smiled at them.

Lily clarified, "Garrett had something to do, so he left first and let me rest. I couldn't get out of bed right after because my legs were so weak."

The reporters were shocked by Lily's forthrightness, as they had not anticipated receiving this response. It was almost to the point of obscenity, yet classily done.

"Then, Ms. Bray, the rumors regarding the appearance of Mr. Hunter, is it true that he is..." another reporter continued, but Lily swiftly cut him off.

"My fiance is naturally the most handsome wolf in the world, but have any of you seen his genuine face? My mate prefers to keep a low profile, and I am amazed that representatives of respected companies would stoop so low as to believe in unsubstantiated rumors," Lily chastised. "So, publish this. Ladies don't believe rumors; find out for yourself. You might miss out on a man who has a huge heart and will do anything for you."

Nobody would have thought Lily was being coerced into a marriage after she enthusiastically spoke of "her fiance."

In any case, considering that no one had ever seen the real Garrett, there was no one who could dispute what she said about him.

"Well, then that must mean you get around, Ms. Bray. You mated with Matthew Hunter no more than two days ago. You rejected him, and now you are engaged to Garrett Hunter. How could the Grey Blood Pack want such a promiscuous female in their pack?" one of the reporters said.

Lily stared at the reporter. Her facial expression changed from shock to anger as she lost her composure. "How dare you say something so horrid? Do you have no morals?" Lily asked. "The same could be asked of you. It is a valid question," the reporter sneered. He was positive that he had finally caught Lily in a lie. He'd make a fortune from his article."You must be behind on the news," Lily explained calmly. "Even though I am under no obligation to explain anything to you, I will tell you why they will accept me." She paused for dramatic tension before willing herself to say, "Garrett is my second chance mate."The reporters all gasped in amazement. A second chance mate was uncommon. It meant that the individual had been truly blessed by the Goddess and that the rejection of the previous mate bond was valid."That… that is impossible. Someone like you could never have a second chance mate and you don't hold a mate mark either, you…"the reporter responded, still reeling from his

She couldn't just sit here and act like everything was okay.'Yes, you actually can,' Dina said.'I was fine when it was my choice to screw over Matthew, but that was before I learned that my father was going to use us as a sacrificial lamb. This is different. This wolf can do whatever he wants with us because he paid for us. Aren't you upset about that?' Lily exclaimed.'Of course, I am, but this is our life now. Adam asked, "Sir, shall I put away this mask? Miss Bray has passed the test. Garrett wanted to be certain that the woman who would be his mate genuinely cared about him, not just his power.Lily was the first one to come back and even claimed that she would overcome this obstacle. She was very sincere and full of passion and joy.Garrett looked at the mask thoughtfully and finally shook his head. "It's fun to tease her. I will keep wearing it for now. Have you found all the information I need?" Garrett asked. Hearing Garrett's question, the secretary stepped forward and picked up the report that Garrett had placed on his desk. He flipped through the pages to refresh his memory. "Sir, Miss Bray is a kind-hearted, honorable young woman. She never entertained any other man before meeting your brother. Lily kept touching where Garrett cupped her face the entire way to the pack grounds. He was so gentle with her. It was cute but also alarming. He was the complete opposite of what people said about him. 'He's just like us. They underestimated us because we're Omega. They thought we would cry over Matthew instead we made him cry,' Dina said proudly. It was true. It was unheard of a she-wolf rejecting her mate and especially not an Omega. Lily grinned at the thought that they would keep showing them that they made a grave mistake crossing her. Lily made it back onto her father's territory. The gammas who were the security and guards of the pack let her in as she was still part of the pack even if her father basically sold her off. It also helped that she was always kind to them even when she didn't have to. "Stay in the car, Adam," Lily said as she was getting out. "But, my Luna, Alpha Garrett told me to be with you at all times," Adam protested. Lily paused for a second after

Mandy's eyes widened in surprise thinking that Adam was just some random wolf sniffing around Lily. She quickly pivots, knowing exactly how to make this situation benefit her. "How disgusting Lily! You scold us and yet, you're out here cheating on Garrett with Adam," Mandy accused. "This is why Matthew wanted nothing with you. He knew you were a loose woman. He told us all about your escapades."   "Then, he must have confused me with Brandy," Lily retorted.   "Yes, yes, disgusting. Don't try to spin this on me. We both saw how he was touching you. Kasia's heart thundered in her chest, its pulse thudding through her veins as if attempting to escape her very being. The room itself seemed to press in on her from all sides, suffocating her. "What are you talking about?" she asked. The crackle of thunder from outside caused her to jump in surprise. Her mind reeled as she struggled to process his claim. How could this be? Alpha King Ethan was her mate; there was no doubt in her mind about that. Panic bubbled up inside her, and she fought to maintain control over her emotions. "I keep telling you that you're wrong. You have me confused with someone else. I don't know how many times I must tell you this," she said firmly, trying to mask the fear in her voice. "My mate is Alpha King Ethan, not you." The mere mention of Ethan's name caused Amdis' features to contort into a frown

Kasia awoke with a start, her heart pounding. Her body felt cocooned in silk, the fabric clinging to her like an unwelcome lover. As she tried to make sense of her surroundings, memories of Amdis, the vampire who had taken her away, flooded back. She glanced down at herself, noticing for the first time that she wore nothing but a sheer camisole. Anger flared within her, and she clenched her fists, cursing silently. "Who does he think he is?" Kasia muttered under her breath as she threw off the silk sheets and slid out of bed. For a moment, she considered tearing the offensive garment from her body, but practicality won out. She needed to find a way out of this place, and she couldn't do that naked. The room was bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun, casting long shadows across the ornate furnishings. Kasia's instincts kicked in, and she moved cautiously towards the window, scanning the room for any potential threats. As her eyes adjusted to the fading light, she realized tha

'Go back there and rip her throat out!' Deva snarled. 'No, he made his decision. We will not fight over him,' Kasia responded as she continued walking away. How could he have done this to her? She should've known better. This was all just part of the plan. He just wanted her close because she is a blessed blood. That's all it was. "Kasia, stop!" Lily said, grabbing her wrist. "Calm down. It's not what you think it is." "I saw what I saw. He was with that b****! I know what I saw," Kasia growled. "That's not what I saw," Lily responded, causing Kasia to squint at her. "What do you mean that's not what you saw? He was humping Aimee," Kasia retorted. "Yes, but when I first saw them, she looked a lot like you," Lily explained. "That…that doesn't make any sense," Kasia said. "How could Aimee have gotten to him so fast? We had just seen her. I don't know. I think something else is going on," Lily argued. 'You didn't have to be so mean,' Kasia scolded Deva. 'And he didn't have to have females all over him like he doesn't have a mate for WEEKS,' Deva growled back. Kasia watched as Ethan walked away and sighed. She regretted being coy with him. Perhaps he would have been able to tell her what he needed to say before he got pulled away. The mood was ruined, and Kasia didn't feel like dancing anymore. She moved away from the stage where the live music was playing. "This is only temporary," Lily said, surprising Kasia as she looped arms with her. "Let's get something to eat. Have you ever had fairy pastries before?" "That's a thing?!" Kasia asked, causing Lily to laugh. Lily and Kasia sampled mouthwatering dishes at one of the many food stalls. The scent of spiced meats and vegetables filled the air, mingling with laughter and chatter from the crowd. The sun blazed high in the sky, casting a golden hue over the city as the Summer Solstice festival commenced. Colorful banners and streamers adorned the buildings, while stalls lined the bustling streets, offering food, games, and trinkets to the celebrating crowd. Laughter and lively music filled the air, setting a jovial atmosphere that reached every corner of the city. At the heart of it all, Ethan scanned the festive scene before him. "Relax, Ethan," Garrett encouraged with a knowing smile. "This isn't something you haven't hosted before." Ethan let out a strained chuckle, doing his best to maintain a calm facade. "Easier said than done," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. His mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Kasia, who had been avoiding him for days. The uncertainty gnawed at him. "You're still worrying about Kasia, aren't you? Lily says she has been super busy with Kasia to get her prepared for today. She's not avoiding you on purpose," Garrett stated. "She

"Positive," Janet replied, her voice steady. "We need to tell Alpha Ethan what we found immediately, so we can figure out our next moves." Deanna nodded in agreement as they stopped in front of the heavy wooden door. With a deep breath, Lana knocked firmly, and after a moment, the door creaked open, revealing Ethan seated behind his desk and the pack doctor, Brian, with him. "Come in," Ethan said calmly. "I am happy to see that we didn't have casualties." "Thanks to Lana. She was right about those traps," Deanna said as she entered the room, followed by Janet and Lana. "We have a report on the base we found." "Go on," Ethan prompted. "What did you find out?" "Not much. The base was pretty much destroyed," Deanna answered. "What do you mean?" Ethan asked. The moon cast an eerie glow on the ground as Deanna, Janet, Lana, and a few warriors made their way through the dense forest. The air was thick with tension, and Lana led them with quiet determination. Sweat beaded on her brow, but she focused on the task at hand. "Remember," she whispered to the others, "the closer we get to the hunters' base, the more traps there'll be. Stay alert." An impatient warrior, his face contorted in frustration, grumbled under his breath. He'd grown tired of following Lana's slow pace, and he decided to speed forward. Lana's hazel eyes flashed a warning, and she called out to him. "Don't! You don't know where the traps are." But her words fell on deaf ears. Just as the warrior was about to step into a well-hidden pit filled with sharp spikes, Lana lunged at him, pushing him aside. In doing so, her arm grazed one of the silver-tipped spikes, and she winced, silver oozing from the wound. "Idiot!" Lana hissed as she clutched her injured arm. "You could

Lily chimed in, her voice soft and hesitant. "We were going to grab dinner. You're welcome to join us if you'd like." Kasia shook her head, dismissing the suggestion. "That would compromise your cover, Milo. We can't risk it." "About that," Milo began with a smirk. He reached up and removed his contacts, revealing striking gold eyes that burned with intensity. Next, he pulled off his blond wig, displaying his true hair color—black, cropped short, and messy. Kasia blinked in surprise at the transformation. Finally, Milo took a cloth and wiped his face clean of make

"Come on, let's try this store," Lily suggested, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she pulled Kasia into a boutique overflowing with colorful garments. Kasia couldn't help but smile as she browsed the racks, selecting pieces she'd never dreamed of wearing before. The normalcy of the moment brought a sense of comfort, something that had been sorely lacking in her life since her parents' deaths. "I've never really had the chance to do normal things like this, you know?" Kasia confided in Lily as they sat down on a plush bench, laden with clothes to try on. "Ever since my parents died, it's just been... surviving, and then I joined them, but I still felt like I was struggling. I don't know why I am talking about this now." Lily's face softened, her gaze full of understanding. "I'm so sorry, Kasia. What happened to your parents?" Kasia took a deep breath, feeling the familiar ache in her chest.
