~ JANE WILLIAMS ~

My uneasiness worsened when a voice in my head rang 'MATE'. Was this some sort of joke?

I was startled when Alpha Keegan pulled away from everyone around then turned to me.

“Mate?” He called with disgust laced in his tone then more attention was drawn to us as murmurings filled the hall.

What the hell was this? His expression, his word, as well as the strong scent from him that hit my nose confirmed the voice in my head— that he was my mate.  How could this be possible? This would’ve been good news if it was another Alpha, but not Alpha Keegan.

“I—”

“No way,” I cut him off, already quivering in fear again. Judging from his dangerous glare and gaze of irritation at me, I could tell he was going to reject me. I couldn’t let the pain of rejection be added to the numerous pain in my life already. Before he could reject me, I said, “I, Jane Williams, reject you, Alpha Keegan Gray, as my mate, forever...”

His eyes bugged out at my word, and the entire room was filled with gasps as the noise increased.

“How dare you?!” He spoke through gritted teeth, storming towards me.

Oh no. What had I done?

Before he reached me, Mrs. Bea appeared in front of me and sent a hard slap to my face. “How dare you reject the Alpha?!” She yelled while my hand went to my face.

I realized that the Gamma, Mason Kentwood, had indicated for Mrs. Bea to do that, to prevent the Alpha from whatever he’d have done to me. Thank goodness, else I could’ve been dead already.

Alpha’s wrath wasn’t hidden a bit. It was crystal clear that he wasn’t satisfied with the soap; he shoved Mrs. Bea aside to fix his furious gaze on me. “Who—”

“Take her away!” Mason ordered Mrs. Bea, holding Alpha back.

“You’ll definitely pay for this,” Alpha muttered to me.

I swallowed hard as Scarlett, the beta, dragged me out of the hall instead of Mrs. Bea.

Scarlett pulled me away from the hall till we were behind the staircase. She searched around, patently to ensure that no one was around before pulling me into a hug.

Oh, did I forget to mention that the Beta was my only friend? It was really strange and forbidden to associate with low-class werewolves like myself. Though she was as mean as every other member of the Dark Stone pack, she still had a soft spot for me in her heart. Our friendship was a secret to everyone else to avoid harming Scarlett's position.

“Thank you so much.” She smiled, pulling away to hold my shoulders while still subconsciously scanning around.

“Thank you?” I breathed out, my heart still beating faster.

“For rejecting Alpha Keegan. I just knew being friends with you isn't a mistake.”

“I don't understand.”

“Silly. You know how much I love Alpha Keegan, that's why you rejected him, right?” she lifted an eyebrow at me and I was forced to nod. “You're the best!” She hugged me again.

I wasn't interested in what she had just said; I was only scared for my life and wanted to lock myself up from Alpha's wrath.

***

The celebration had to be called off all because of me. I think Alpha couldn’t control his anger anymore, so it ended and everyone had to go home before the intended time.

Aware of the fact that the Alpha’s rage was coming for me, I ran to my room again. I knew I was in a big mess and had to leave here immediately.

“I can’t stay here any longer. There’s no way I’ll ever be safe.” I mumbled to myself, throwing the small belongings I had into a used plastic bag since I couldn’t afford to have a travel bag.

“Where the hell is her room?!” I heard Alpha Keegan yell, causing my heart to freeze in its cage.

“Oh my gosh! No way!” I quickly tied the plastic bag and rushed to lock the door.

The door knob twisted, but to no avail. “Open this damn door right this instant.” His voice roared, accompanied by the loud bangs against the frail door.

“Help me please.” I prayed, hurrying back to grab my plastic bag then ran to the window.

“Open the fucking door!” With the way he was hitting the door, it was certainly going to break anytime soon.

“Just open the door, please Jane.” I heard Scarlett plead; she was clearly scared for my life.

Without thinking twice, I opened the window and sat on it, throwing my leg over it.

A gasp escaped my throat when the door was kicked open and broke into pieces, revealing a rage-filled Alpha Keegan with Scarlett and Mason behind him.

“What do you think you’re doing?” He asked through gritted teeth, his hands were balled into fists, and his sweaty body had veins popping out.

“Uh… I–I’m sor–sorry, Alpha... I…” I stuttered.

“Don’t you dare leave.” He asserted, advancing towards me.

My entire body started to tremble. I stared out the window, only realizing that my room was on the third floor.

With every step he took closer to me, my heart froze even more. Jumping over could cause my death since I was so weak, but waiting here also meant that I was going to be dead meat. It was best if I died than faced the torture of Alpha Keegan.

I crossed my other leg over the window and was ready to jump.

“I said don’t go!” He growled then increased his pace.

As I was about to jump off, he grasped my hand and effortlessly pulled me up, grabbing me by my arm to prevent me from falling to the floor.

“Are you out of your mind? You want to die in the Dark Stone pack and ruin our name?!” He barked at me, his amber eyes were red with fury.

“I-I’m sorry.” I apologized, bowing my head. No omega had the right to stare at anyone's eyes.

“You’ve lost your mind, that’s no doubt. Do you think you can easily escape from here after committing the most terrible offense this pack has ever encountered?” He clicked his tongue, staring over his shoulder at Scarlett and Mason. “You both should ensure that this mutt never leaves this pack. She has to be stuck here to face her punishment. Let all the warriors and guards know this. She mustn’t even be allowed to leave the pack house.” He ordered. “Mason, inform Shane that he's in charge of punishing and watching her for now.” Shane?! He was the strongest and most evil warrior and guard Dark Stone pack had.

“Yes, Alpha.” They replied in unison.

“Now leave. This foolish omega needs to learn her lesson.” His words made my heart clench in fear.

Scarlett and Mason obediently took their leave, leaving me with the most dangerous person/wolf that ever exists.

“You silly thing. What were you thinking? How dare you reject the Alpha?” He held my other arm, moving closer to me.

I shrieked when he pushed me to the wall, his grip on my arms becoming even tighter.

“I promise you Alpha, I’m sorry. Please don’t kill me.” I still lowered my head, shuddering.

“Kill you?” I raised my head, catching his millisecond smirk. “No, you won’t die so easily. Your life as an Omega here is nothing compared to the torture you’ll experience. You wanted to pay back for the way you’ve been treated, right? You wanted me to feel embarrassed and feel the pain of rejection, right?” He asked rhetorically, but I shook my head. “I promise you that you’ll feel this rejection pain way worse than the rejected one ought to feel.” He pulled me to his chest, literally squeezing the air out of me.

“Please, Alpha, I made a big mistake.” How can my life be any worse than it already is? That was going to be way more terrible than dying. “Just take my life instead.” I pleaded, panting from being this close to him.

“Take your life? Never. My presence will frustrate your life till there’s no bit of air in your lungs again. This crime you’ve committed will backfire at you. You made a damn mockery of me. Therefore,

I, Alpha Keegan Gray, promise to make your life a living hell for as long as we both live. Your suffering has only begun. I’ll make sure you pay for this so no one else will try to mess with me in such a way ever again. I promise that you’ll not only accept me as your mate but will also bear the dreadful consequences of rejecting me as your mate. I vow to make you mine to crush your entire being.” He threw me from his grip, frowning as he turned around and stormed out of my room. “Deal with her. Make sure she receives no mercy and everyone is aware of her punishment.” I heard him say.

What on earth had I gotten myself into? Why didn’t I just let him reject me? Then I’d have run away. Why did the moon goddess decide to be so cruel to me?

I dropped to the floor and burst into tears.

I was watching everywhere in fear, wondering what was next in line for my fate. No one had come to me yet for any punishment, increasing my fear. Why were they planning against me? Had they forgotten my presence? I hadn’t even been called to clean up the pack house, I was grateful for that, but it elevated my fear. I curled up in a ball against the wall, hoping I was going to wake up and realize the entire drama of Alpha Keegan being my mate was nothing but a nightmare. My hopes were crushed when a huge figure appeared by the door frame, walking over the broken pieces of my room door. “Take her with you.” I lifted my gaze to meet the fury burning in the chocolate eyes of Shane. He was staring at me like I was a piece of rotten junk that needed to be gotten rid of. My heart's palpitations increased when two hefty men in their regular Black and Red guard uniform walked up to me and lifted me up by my arm. “Please… please don’t harm me. “Take her outside.” Bruce ordered and two of the guards walked up to me, unchained me then dragged me out of the prison. I shivered from both the aftermath of the overnight cold and the fear of what was going to happen to me. I was dragged to the center of the town and chained to a bench on a raised platform. It was tagged as the bench of shame and was for chaining up criminals or people who brought shame upon the pack, for brutal punishments.I was left there, sitting on the ground as different members of the pack passed, hurling insults at me and laughing at me, some of them even threw things at me and some of them sent little children to hit me, for no good reason. The sun had started to burn my skin and my stomach was grumbling from its lack of food. I hadn’t eaten anything proper yesterday and two days ago, and I hadn’t had anything to eat. This was too much for me to handle. “She thought she could get away with rejecting the Alpha. Such a cheat and stupid mutt with so much p

We all quickly ran to the south of the pack town, meeting up with my mother, the present Luna, Kate. She stood in front of the pack orphanage home and had a basket of food in her hands with two children beside her, clinging onto her wrists like their lives depended on it. “What’s wrong?” I asked her.She didn’t utter a word but gripped onto the hand of one of the quivering children really tight. “What happened?!” I demanded in a louder voice. “Luna Kate was here to give us sweets and home made food, then we all heard someone scream. When we ran outside, we saw that the beautiful lady who follows the Luna around as the Luna's assistant had blood around her and her head was no longer connected to her body.” The child explained on Mom’s behalf. “What?! Where is her body?” “Her body’s here, Alpha.” Scarlett said, walking out from the side of the orphanage building with a few men behind her. We all followed Scarlett’s lead and to the dead body of one of our pack members, Maddie. Her

I was unchained and Mason was called to drive me to the pack house while Alpha Keegan left for some work. “Have you had anything to eat?” Mason asked me. “No, nothing.” I didn’t look at him as I spoke. “Okay. I’ll order pizza for you. Eat up then pack your belongings.” His tone was as cold as the tone of every man in the pack. “How long will the journey be for?” I asked. He didn’t respond to me and continued driving till we got to the pack house. The first thing I did was to drink multiple glasses of water, each gulp felt divine as it hit my throat. When my stomach was filled with water, I left for my room. The door was still broken from Alpha Keegan kicking it down, and the room was still in the mess I caused when I tried to run. I picked my plastic bag from the side of the window up and added a few more things to it. When pizza arrived, I had to bring it back to my room since I had no right to eat on the dining table. I thought I was going to eat the entire box of pizza but I

I had ended up returning to the room after confirming that Alpha Keegan had gone to bed, then slept on the armchair for the night; not a comfortable option but I had no choice. Morning returned sooner than I thought it would. Alpha Keegan wasn’t awake when I woke up, so I hurried to the bathroom and had a quick shower before wearing an old short maxi dress, the only one I owned. I braided my wavy ash hair and wished I could at least have any makeup to wear. I was certain that owning any makeup item was impossible. After returning to the room, I cleaned it properly and grabbed my plastic bag, ready to leave the room. Of course, Alpha Keegan just appeared at the same time and I bumped into him, hitting my nose on his rock hard chest. My nostrils were filled with a strong smell of lavender and forest, as well as a mix of his sweat and cologne. This was the first time my human-like nose was able to pick out someone's natural scent and it felt amazing. “Can’t you watch where you’re goin

I was given a room, an entire room to myself, a whole damn big and beautiful room! I was already loving this pack more than Dark Stone pack. The best part of the room was the bed; it was a soft queen sized bed and had a nice white duvet and fluffy blanket on it. I couldn’t control my excitement and started jumping on the bed, squealing in exhilaration. “I can’t wait to sleep tonight!” The door opened, and a young woman froze at my current action. She looked like she was 22, my age, or in her early twenties. She had shoulder-length black curly hair, beautiful caramel skin and hazel asian eyes. She cleared her throat and walked in. “I didn’t know someone was in here. I guess I should’ve knocked before entering.” She walked in and dropped the small box she was holding, on the table. I quickly got off the bed, clearing my throat. “I’m sorry. I’m Jane Williams, from the Dark Stone pack.” “Dark Stone? If you’re in this room, then you’re an omega. I feel so bad for you. We were just having a little talk. Stop being so grumpy.” Vladimir rolled his eyes, tucking his hands into his pockets. Alpha Keegan glared at him and resumed walking. “Drop the tray on the table in my room; don’t forget what you’re here for.” He said whilst walking past me. “Keegan is still as crazy as ever.” He sighed, wearing his smile at me again. “You look great when you're scared.” My cheeks burned once again from his compliment. “You’re invited to our training sessions, if you want to attend.”“Really?! No one ever invites me to training sessions.”“Now that's bad.” He feigned pity.“Yes. Uh… I have to go now— Alpha Keegan would kill me if he finds out I’m still here.” I scuttled up the stairs and to Alpha Keegan’s room.

~ JANE ~ (11 YEARS LATER) “HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, SWEETHEART!” Keegan said the moment I woke up, wrapping his arms around me and captured my lips into a kiss. I was startled since of course, I just woke up, but I shook it off and returned his kiss. “Happy anniversary.” I said when I pulled away, stretching. We had arrived at the beach house with our friends and family two days ago. Since it was where our love developed, it held a special place in our heart, so we decided to celebrate our Eleventh wedding anniversary here. “Guess what I found?” he asked and he had a really bright smile that made me have a good feeling about today already. “What is it?” You know how much I hate guesses.” He arched his back to pick up something from the floor then placed a box on my lap. “What is it?” I asked again. “Just open it.” He rolled his eyes at me. I chuckled and opened the box. There were two more more boxes in it and I took out the first box, it had so many swimsui

The preparations for the ceremony happened sooner than I could imagine. We decided that the venue was going to be towards the lake so the moon’s reflection could be even more perfect in the water. Chloe had done my makeup, and of course, she made me look like a goddess. My wedding dress was a dark wine velvet gown that was floor sweeping and had spaghetti straps with a wine corset on my waistline. I didn’t know how Choice had managed to get it on such short notice, but it was my perfect size and I loved it. It was only a few minutes till 12AM, so Dad had come to pick me up.“You look extremely beautiful. I never thought I’d see this day, but I’m glad I’m privileged to see my daughter’s wedding ceremony.” He had a proud smile on and hugged me, planting a fatherly kiss on my forehead. “I love you and I’m glad we got to see the real light before it was too late.” I was grinning from ear to ear, also glad that my parents and grandmother were present at my wedding. They were so confused to even do anything so we were able to kill or knock them out in accordance. “According to Vladimir, there might still be more guards in and we’ll have to be even more careful.” Chloe said in a bark. “And according to him, we’ll be better in our human form. “Really?”“Yes. I had overheard that Jane had gotten her gift and I was so proud of her but I hoped she was able to secure the pack in place. I wondered if she was back at Dark Stone or still stuck with those Ardolfs. I had no idea on what to do. I was at the weakest point of my life and it didn’t seem like help could come to me. One of the men walked into the room in their completely protected outfit then extended a glass to me. Water!
