Shutting my eyes and awaiting my fate, a tear slid down my cheek.

"You have to fight, Zanna," Tia urged in my head, but the man tightened his grip around my body, almost squashing my insides.

Just as I awaited death, my ears perked up at alert when I heard the distant sound of something swishing in the air at great speed.

"Ugh!" My attacker groaned, and I could feel the muscles in his stomach clench as he eased his grip around me.

A frown creased my brows, and the fear of looking at death in its eyes caused me to keep my eyes shut. But they popped open when a thud sounded from behind me–my attacker's huge body crashed to the ground.

"What's going on?" I asked in my head, horror caging my heart.

With terror in my bones, I glanced down to see his fidgeting body beside my feet. His eyes rolled skyward, leaving only the white of his eyes in display–his sclera. A long arrow protruded from the side of his head with fresh blood gurgling out of the wound.

"We have to try and make them believe you're Tia Moon," Tia said in my head once Jayven left. "We can't risk having you come off as an imposter." I pressed my lips together, staring into nothingness. My heart constricted a little at the fact that I couldn't exactly be myself, but act like a certain Alpha of a pack. "Hey, on the bright side of things, you're the Alpha, and you have the power to make an implement rules. Everyone bows to you, unlike when you were an omega," Tia stated, trying to lighten my mood. I nodded, finding sense in what she had just said. There was a slight knock, and then the doorknob twisted. I lifted my head, taking sight of Jayven and the doctor. "Hello, Alpha Tia Moon," the doctor beamed, and even if he had a face mask on, I could tell he was smiling because the sides of his eyes crinkled in delight. "How do you feel today?" I nodded, offering him a small smile. He pulled out the stethoscope from around his neck and wore it to listen to my he

I was lost in a maze of unanswered questions as I watched the retreating maid. Images of Vyn having these same facial expressions at the hospital when I had asked for some cold water flashed in my head. "Tia, is it a taboo to request for a cold glass of water?" I inquired, feeling uneasy. "No, it's not. Everyone knows that I prefer a room temperature glass of water," Tia revealed, and I opened my mouth in silent realization. "Why are you just telling me this?" I questioned and then added, "How am I supposed to pretend I like drinking a glass of water that isn't cold?""You'll get used to it. Tough luck, honey," Tia said, and I thinned my lips. I headed straight to the restroom, accepting that this was what fate had in store for me. I freshened up, returning to a glass of water sitting on the vanity mirror with a sticky note beside the cup.I inched closer to it and scanned through the note. "Hi, I know you are still recovering, but turn around and make a choice." I read out lou

The door behind me creaked open, and I glanced over my shoulder to see a few maids and guards, flooding into the room. "What's going on?" The ginger-haired man that had hugged Vyn earlier, asked, his hand already gripping the head of his sword. I returned my gaze to my front, watching as Vyn tried to pry the cub off my dress, but the little tiger was adamant. It growled and pulled harder. A loud, sharp tear echoed through the air, and with wide open eyes, I tried to pull myself back, earning more tears that exposed my bare thighs. "Calm down. He wouldn't bite you. He's still a cub. The more you struggle, the more he attacks," Tia advised, but I wasn't buying it. "Did the cub tell you he wouldn't bite me?" I asked Tia, watching as Vyn and ginger-haired man pried the cub off of me. Tia snorted, "You have no idea what suspicions you've brought upon yourself." I blocked Tia out, pushing her to the back of my mind. I didn't want to hear anything else from her. My heart

He sat beside me, eyeing me with skepticism. "Are you okay?" I nodded, feeling my heart constrict with anxiety. "I'm sorry about the cub. I should have left you to get better before bringing such a surprise to you," Vyn apologized, and I was flabbergasted. I thought I blew my cover. Another knock on the door, and I could sense that it was Lana. Giving her permission to come in, she entered with a tray of food. "Since we couldn't get to the best part of the surprise, I decided to bring it here," Vyn said. I caught myself smiling, and I thinned my lips immediately into a neutral expression. Vyn was a charmer, but no, I wouldn't let there be a second Richard. "Stop restricting yourself. Answer the call of the mating bond and that of your heart. Vyn is a good man," Tia said. "I don't think he trusts me. He looks at me with suspicion," I replied back, staring at Vyn, watching him uncover the plates. My mouth watered at the sight of rice, filled in a wide plate and chicken curry s

I juddered, spinning to face him. "Er, hi," I simpered, waving awkwardly at him as I tried to stand properly. "No, what? No. I was..." I trailed off, racking my head for the perfect excuse to give him. "...I wasn't–I am not learning how to fight again. You know I haven't gotten much of my mobility back since I was in a coma for a month." Vyn crossed his arms against his chest, narrowing his eyes into slivers of scrutiny. His jaw grew taut, and the expression in his eyes showed that he wasn't buying what I was saying... yet. "I also thought it'd be fun to learn again. You know the excitement that comes with learning something you love," I explained, turning back to my reflection. I took the stance of a fighter in a battlefield, waiting to lunge at his or her opponent. After a moment's silence, he spoke. "It will be an honour for me to teach you then. Hopefully, I can help you regain your mobility back." I eyed him through the mirror, nodding enthusiastically. With his

My body shook, and I could feel nothing but blind terror. I swallowed her in a bid to push down the lump that had grown in my throat. "What–what do you mean by who I am?" I struggled to speak because his fingers gripped my neck tight, almost restricting my inflow of oxygen. "Answer me," he snapped, his teeth still jammed together. Vyn's face was flushed with anger, glowing a bright shade of red. Fat veins throbbed in his temples, conveying just how agitated he was. Furiously, I tapped on his hand, tears brimming in my eyes as he gripped my neck tighter. I was going to grow unconscious if he didn't let go. "P–please," I stammered, gasping for air. "I can't breathe. I'm going to die–die if you keep doing this." "Then speak up before you die," he said with a low growl. I tapped furiously with ragged breathings. Vyn eased his grip around my neck, but his fingers still clutched my neck like a bracelet. "I can't b–breathe," I gasped, and he completely let go of my neck. "Now, spea

"What's going in?" I asked, and Vyn released his hold on me. "Some kind of dispute," Slade answered with a grim expression. He shifted his weight to one of his feet and rubbed the back of his neck. "Majority of the pack members are outside, chanting." "Chanting?" I repeated, trying to wrap my head around what he was saying. Vyn and I shared a concerned look, both of our brows knitted into a deep frown. Vyn picked up the television remote, turning down the volume. Their muffled voices filtered into the room, prompting Vyn to turn off the television. "Do you have an idea of what this is about?" I asked Slade, and he shook his head with a hint of apprehension in his eyes. "But they seem really displeased," Slade revealed. "Tia, do you have an idea of what is going on?" I inquired, and she replied with nothing but silence, which reflected the uncertainty she felt. I headed towards the door with a gnawing feeling in my stomach. Slade stepped aside, holding the door open for me.Once

Once I stepped into my room, it enveloped me in a comfortable and warm silence. A sigh of relief mixed with weariness slipped out of my lips, and I kicked off my training shoes. Trailing my eyes to the bed, it invited me, and I accepted its offer, plopping down on it. The tension that had intertwined my muscles dissipated, and the pain from today's practice seeped into my joints. I groaned, burying my face in my pillow. Today was one hell of a roller coaster. I still hadn't recovered from Vyn's attack after he figured it wasn't me. "That was really a close one," Tia sighed, and I agreed with her. "We have to be more careful from now on. We might not be so lucky next time." "You still haven't told me the things I should know about you to avoid such clumsy mistakes," I said, thinking of how to get off this bed and head to the restroom. I needed to shower. "Yeah, that's true. We can do that under the shower," she responded, finally giving me the motivation to rise from my bed. I ho

JAYVEN'S POVI caught myself in time before I ripped the papers from her hands. “Are the numbers the same?”“They are,” Tia responded, showing me the identical papers in her hands. I collected it, eyeing the numbers. “This takes us a step closer to getting the information we want.” Tia pointed at the paper in my hands.“I should call her-““No!” Tia stoppped me before I could grab my phone. “We need to be clear headed before we make that call and it’s late, I don’t know about you but I’m not at my best after the wonderful evening we had.”“As always my love, you’re so smart.” I placed a kiss on her forehead and pulled her into my arms. “Let’s get some rest but we’ll get all the information we need tomorrow, I promise you.”Tia sighed, holding on to me tightly. “I know we will, Vyn. We should go to bed. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a very long day.”“I be right back. Tia gently pushed my head. “Enough, I don’t have another orgasm to spare except you want to push me over the edge. I’m sure the moon goddess will be very happy to have me.”I growled, nipping her thigh. “No one can have you until I’m done with you, not even the moon goddess.”She chuckled, lifting up her head to look at me. “I can’t go again, but it’s my turn to satisfy you. I’ve been thinking of all the ways to please you, my love.”I moaned, pushing my hips into the bed. Tia wasn’t playing fair, “Don’t tease me, Tia. I don’t know if I can survive that.”“I have zero intentions of teasing you.” She pulled me up and flipped us over so she was on top of me. The sight made me groan, and I gripped her hips tightly, fighting for self-control.“I am this close to fucking your brains out Tia. Have mercy on me!”She leaned forward and captured my lips, moaning at the taste of herself as she licked my jaw clean of her juices. “I like it when you beg but you have to wait till I get down to bus

Jayven's PoVI studied her, watching lust and love glint in her beautiful orbs as she stared deep into my eyes. I could have sworn she could read my soul from how intenseful her gaze was. The moment Lyra closed the door after her, I could hear Skye protesting with numerous whines. When I could no longer hear Skye or her retreating footsteps or even perceive their scents, I was convinced they had left. "Are you sure about this?" I asked, raising a brow at her. Tia nodded desperately, and I could hear her pulse racing with none other than desperation. Her cheeks caught fire, and I could see them turning crimson. "Okay," I said, still feeling upset about Richard approaching her tonight. We were meant to start and end the night in happiness, but the sight of him irked my nerves. Why was he still chasing my mate when he had a pregnant wife?"Because he's a greedy man," my wolf responded, also agitated from the encounter. "To think he was indirectly calling you incompetent."My jaw gr

My pulse raced, and I dreaded the spinning to face to her. Fear gripped me, and I felt sick in my stomach. "Oh. Hi, honey." Richard's eyes softened, and he opened his arms, motioning for her to join him. She materialized beside him with her back turned against me. Richard wrapped his arms around her, and she melted into his embrace. I froze to a spot, watching Richard plaster a kiss on her forehead, asking her if everything was fine with her. I gritted my teeth, clenching my fists in annoyance. Richard never spoke, held, or acted this way with me when I was alive in my body. "Yes, I saw you from over the roof and figured you were in an argument," She said, now pulling away from his hug and tilting up her head to view his face. "Who is she? Is she a customer who got wronged?" I noticed she had gained some amount of weight as I studied her back. My eyes raced down her blue dress that stopped just above the back of her knees. Her legs were a lot bigger, and her feet were swollen. W

I dashed my foot against a stone, feeling the pain spiderweb its way up my toes. I groaned as I lost balance and almost fell forward, but Richard's calloused palm gripped her wrist while wrapping his free hand around my waist. My skin crawled with disgust and annoyance at the contact of a betrayal's skin against mine. My chest burned with anger, and I could also feel it simmering underneath my skin. "Get away from me!" I growled, palming his chest and pushing him away. "Alpha Tia," Richard called, and I could see hurt flashing in his eyes at my rejection. "It is me, Richard.""And so fucking what?" I asked, narrowing my eyes into slivers of contempt. "I don't give two shits about who you are."I held two wobbly fingers in the air, trying to stand straight as the intoxication messed up with me. "You're drunk. Let me take you back to the pack. Are you here alone?" Richard asked with concern laced in his tone. I shook my head vigorously, rejecting his help. "I don't need you or you

We headed straight to the entrance, and immediately, the scent of sweaty and horny humans swarmed into my nose. I wrinkled my nose when I perceived both negative and positive energy from them. The door was pulled open by a man I assumed was the security guard. Vyn dropped his hand from my waist and took the lead, interlocking fingers with me. The moment we stepped in, loud music hit me, filling my ears with rhythm and bass. The club was dimly lit with disco balls changing from one colour to the other. The smell of alcohol wafted into my nose, and a few people glanced our way. We walked past the dance floor, and I noticed two girls dancing with a man. They seemed happy, but the brunette was jealous of the redhead, and all I could get from her were negative vibes that sent a prickle of unease down my spine. I looked away, now glancing ahead of me. Approaching a bar, where round tables with people sitting and getting wasted were situated. "What would you two like to have?" The barte

."... Have you?" Tia inquired. "Of course, I've not had sex with Vyn," I responded."Then you should. You're missing out on something good," Tia teased, and a warm feeling spread up my cheeking. My stomach knotted, and the thought of having him slide in and out of me made my throat dry. I scratched my neck, heaving a glass of orange juice off the mat to take a sip. "No wine?" I asked, studying the glass cup with a slight frown on my face. "Oh, I'm saving that for when we hit the club," he said, positioning himself behind me so I could rest my back on his chest. A smile graced my lips, and I leaned against him, twirling the orange goodness around my taste buds. We sat in comfortable silence for a while, but it soon began to make me feel uneasy. I felt his body passing a sad current to mine. I angled my head upwards, beholding his face, which was void of every pleasant emotion. He had a distant look in his eyes that told a sad story that broke my heart even before I could hear i

I grew giddy, watching the sun slowly sink below the horizon, which had been buttered with golden hues. I rested my elbow on the window sill, admiring how the sky looked like it had been set ablaze. "Would you prefer this?" Lyra asked from behind me, cutting off my self-induced trance. I turned, eyeing the blue T-shirt and jeans she held in one hand. "Er, yes. As long as the pants don't restrict most of my movements," I said, wearing a small smile. "You seem excited," Lyra asked, and then added, "Would you like to share your happiness with me?" "Well," I clasped my hands together, happy that someone was offering listening ears. "Vyn said he got a–""What are you doing, Zanna?" Tia inquired, sounding stern. "You shouldn't be having small talks with her. I never did that.""Oh, dear. I'm sorry, I thought..." I sighed in my head and then scrunched up my face. "Shouldn't you be folding my closet?" I asked Lyra, pressing my lips in a thin line."Sorry, Alpha Moon," Lyra said, offerin

A few days later, I was seated on the bed with the doctor running a quick check on my vitals. "Everything is fine," the doctor said, pulling the stethoscope from his ears, letting it hang around his neck. "Your shoulder will be back to new in no time. It's a good thing that it wasn't infected. Try to keep it clean as much as you can to avoid getting any sort of infection." Vyn nodded behind him, craning his neck to see what the doctor was doing. "I'll need you to pull her zipper down a little, Lyra," the doctor said, adjusting his glasses on the bridge of his nose. "Why?" Vyn was quick to ask with a tinge of overprotectiveness in his voice as he stepped forward with a stern look on his face. "Oh, for nothing illegal. I just want to clean her wound," the doctor responded with his hands up in surrender. Vyn moved back, and I pressed my lips together, concealing a small smile. His actions made my heart flutter. It was so good to see a man act so protective of me. Richard, on the ot
