Chapter 0004

MORGAN’S POV

I laid in the hospital bed staring right into Alpha Logan’s eyes, trying to process what he was saying to me.

“What the hell are you talking about?” I croaked out.

“The dishwasher that brought you in.” He hissed.

“I don’t know who you are talking about.” I said.

“The dishwasher from the Angel Cafe.” He said.

I had to think about it for a minute before I realized who he was talking about.

“Do you mean Cooper?” I asked.

“Yeah. I told the nurse to burn your clothes because they stunk of him.” Alpha Logan said.

“What are you asking me?” I asked.

“Why the hell was he so interested in you?” He asked.

“I don’t know. He works with my mother.” I said.

“You expect me to believe that?” He asked.

“It’s the truth. I don’t know what else you want me to say.” I said. “Where is my mother?” I asked, looking around the room.

“I haven’t called her yet.” He said.

“Good. Don’t.” I said, pulling the IV out of my arm and pulling the cords off of my chest.

The machines started going crazy and the doctor and a nurse ran into the room just as I was trying to get out of bed.

“What the hell are you doing?” The doctor asked.

“I have to leave. I can’t stay here.” I said.

“You have to. You had a serious head injury.” The doctor said, trying to force me back into the bed.

“No. I can’t stay here. We can’t afford it.” I said.

“Where’s her mother?” The doctor asked.

“Don’t call her. Don’t tell her about this. She’s got enough to worry about. Just let me go. I have to go home.” I demanded. “Where are my clothes?” I asked, looking around.

“I told you. The nurse burnt them.” Alpha Logan glared at me.

“You have to sign a release if you are going to leave.” The doctor said.

“Fine. Go and get one.” I insisted. So the doctor and nurse left the room and I sat on the bed holding my ribs because of the pain. I got out of bed way too fast and didn’t realize that I had broken ribs at the time.

I was too focused on the pain in my arm and ankle. I saw Alpha Logan looking at me, so I stopped holding my ribs and sat there normally, acting like it didn’t hurt.

I had to try and figure out how I was going to pay this hospital bill. What the hell was I going to do?

I looked over at Alpha Logan and it looked like his face had softened slightly as he looked at me. But when he saw me looking at him, he quickly looked away and changed his expression.

The doctor came in with the forms that I needed to sign but he insisted on giving me a check up before I left.

I said fine, but to make it quick. So he started examining all of my injuries, including the numerous stitches that I had around my body.

“Strange.” The doctor said.

“What?” I asked.

“These wounds. They shouldn’t have healed already. You’re slightly malnourished and dehydrated. It’s nothing unexpected with a werewolf of your rank, but you shouldn’t be healing this fast.” The doctor said.

“What do you mean ‘of my rank’? My father was the head warrior. He was a warrior and a fighter. And so am I. That’s one thing this pack can’t take away from me.” I snapped.

Alpha Logan was leaning against the wall watching me go off at the doctor, and I thought I saw a hint of amusement across his face.

Once I signed the forms the doctor left and I had to walk home on a bum ankle in a hospital gown. I was just glad that it did up at the back.

“We need to talk.” Alpha Logan said.

“About what?” I asked.

“About what we said earlier.” Alpha Logan said.

“What? I’m pretending like we mean nothing to each other. Isn’t that what I’m supposed to do?” I asked.

“Then why the hell do I smell another man on you?” He asked.

“Because that man saved my life. Why do I smell another bitch on you?” I snapped. And his head snapped up to look at me. He wasn’t expecting me to fight back as much as I was.

“She’s my girlfriend. And I am your Alpha. I can do whatever the hell I want.” He said.

“Then so can I. If you can go around flaunting that plastic excuse for a werewolf, then I can do whatever the hell I want. I don’t even know why you’re so pissed. No one cares about me. Not in that way. Your father made sure of that.” I said.

“Leave my father out of this.” He said.

“Leave me alone then. I have to go and get something back that belongs to me.” I said, standing up. But I stood straight on my fractured ankle and I almost fell to the ground, but Alpha Logan lunged forward and caught me.

As soon as I felt his hands on my arms, I felt sparks shooting down my arms and up around my chest and neck.

It was like nothing I had ever felt before. And I raised my hand up to my ribs and felt around the broken ones. Where they were hurting really bad before. They weren’t hurting anywhere near as much as they were before.

I looked up at Alpha Logan without saying a word and he let go as soon as he possibly could.

“I have to go.” I said, turning towards the door and limping out of the room.

“What are you going to go and look for?” Alpha Logan asked, following me out of the hospital.

“I lost my father’s watch. I have to go and find it.” I said.

“You mean this one?” He asked. And I turned around to see him holding it in his hand.

“Where did you get that?” I asked.

“The dishwasher had it. Apparently it was with you when he brought you to the hospital.” He said. So I limped back over to him and I held my hand out.

He slowly reached forward and placed it in my hand.

I let out a sigh of relief.

“Thank you.” I said, before I turned around and limped away.

“Logan. There you are. What the hell is going on? You have had me on hold all day.” A shrill voice started echoing behind me.

I already knew who it was, so I didn’t even bother turning around to see Penelope all over Alpha Logan. But I didn’t turn around to see.

When I finally got home, I was exhausted from limping all that way so I sat on the couch as soon as I got there.

“Well, that was an eventful day.” Bella said.

“I’m not in the mood right now.” I said.

Someone started knocking on the door and I tried to get up, but my ribs were in way too much pain and so was my ankle. I couldn’t even get up.

“Come in.” I sang out. So the door opened and Alpha Logan walked inside.

I sat there shocked. Not knowing what the hell to say.

He turned to me and I saw his eyes changing color. He was fighting his wolf for control.

I don’t know what I did to piss him off so much but he stalked towards me and stood over me.

“No more fucking lies.” He said through gritted teeth.

“I haven’t told you any lies.” I said.

“Bullshit. How many are there?” He asked.

“What?” I asked, confused. So he grabbed me by the front of my hospital gown and he lifted me up off the couch.

“How many boys are you screwing?” He growled. He was still fighting his wolf for control.

I pushed his hands off of my clothes and limped across to the other side of the room. Which was only about five feet.

“There are no other boys. What the hell is the matter with you?” I asked.

“Is it just Cooper then?” He asked.

“It’s not even Cooper. I was attacked in the alley next to where he works. That’s probably how he found me. And he knows me because my mother works at the same cafe. It’s one of her very many jobs that she has to work because you charge her extra for everything.” I said.

“Do you think I enjoy this?” He asked.

“You look like you’re enjoying it a lot.” I said. So he started walking closer to me and I backed away from him until I hit the wall.

I was expecting it to hurt my ribs, but when I hit the wall, it was just a dull pain. I couldn’t explain it. It was practically killing me a few minutes ago.

Alpha Logan slowly placed his hand around my throat and he smirked at me, like he was enjoying the fear on my face.

Was he actually going to kill me?
