There is a deafening silence following the conflict. Each short breath feels like a battle, and I can hear my own heartbeat thudding rapidly in my ears. My surroundings have become strangely still. The forest itself seemed to be holding its breath, waiting for something to happen, as there were no further cries or growls.

A few feet away, Bennet's body is sprawled awkwardly on the ground, unconscious. The ground underneath him is thick and dark with blood streaks. I can't bear to stare at him for very long. I should feel relieved to see him defeated, but instead I feel a nagging, hollow anxiety.

Greta is crushed under me, breathing heavily and her chest rising and falling as her wild eyes glare up at me with barely contained anger. Since I took her down, she hasn't spoken, but that doesn't mean she's given up. This isn't over, based on the expression in her eyes. By no means.

I ought to feel triumphant. Didn't we win? Greta is down, Bennet is down, and the immediate threat is gone for

  • The Omega He Claimed    UNLIKELY COMFORT

Sitting near the crackling fire, the night air hurts my skin. The chill that lingers in the pit of my stomach is not much soothed by the warmth of the flames. I still feel the weight of the war; every ache and bruise serves as a reminder of how nearly we lost everything. My body is still humming from the adrenaline that hasn't totally worn off, and my muscles feel rigid. I peek at Callum, who is seated across from me, his features dancing in the firelight. He appears to be as shaken as I am. I can clearly out the faint pattern of bruises emerging over his jaw, and his clothing are tattered and filthy. Since the fight ended, he has sat there pondering and staring into the fire without saying anything. Then his eyes engage mine, as though he senses my gaze. For the first time in days they become softer, with that comforting warmth returning and a glimmer of the Callum I knew before everything went wrong. The gleam of emotion surprised me. "I should have trusted you from the beginning

  • The Omega He Claimed    A Night Together

Only a tiny orange glow remains in the cabin after the fire has extinguished. The stress that none of us can release makes the air feel thick and heavy. The threat still hangs in my brain, producing its own shadow, even if the shadow that slithered around the trees outside seemed to have vanished. Callum is standing by the window, watching for movement in the shadows. For the preceding five minutes, he has stayed silent, watchful, and prepared to defend. But as the seconds pass without any more interruptions, I watch him at last settle down. He relaxes his broad shoulders, inhales deeply, and then turns back to face me. My breath hitches at the intensity of his eyes meeting mine. I haven't let myself fully accept it until now, but the weight of all we've gone through seems to hang between us—betrayal, mistrust, and wrath, but also something more. He looks at me in a different way. softer and more clear. He's letting me in for the first time in what seems like an eternity. Callum wa

  • The Omega He Claimed    THE WARNING

The sound of the knock on the door is so loud that it shakes me from the vulnerable moment that Callum and I shared. My entire body stiffens as a wave of fear sweeps over me. Before he can touch it, the door swings wide as Callum grabs for the doorknob, his stance tight, prepared for an assault. With a pale face and a heaving chest from running miles, Mia suddenly enters. Before I can even question, she blurts out, "We need to leave," her wide eyes locking onto mine in a panic. Right now.My heart sinks into my abdomen. Her voice's desperation sends a new flood of anxiety through my veins. As protective as ever, Callum moves ahead of me, his eyes narrowing at Mia. His voice is low and menacing as he screams, "What's going on?"Mia doesn't even give him a glance. Her eyes remain fixed on me, begging and desperate. We don't have time, Aurora! We must relocate. My throat feels constricted when I attempt to swallow. "Why? What is going on? I try to sound calm, but my voice sounds wobbly.

  • The Omega He Claimed    ESCAPE PLAN

We walk into the packhouse hallway, and the cold air hits my face. My heart started to beat faster. Callum has a strong grip on my hand, and I can feel it as we run down the hall. He moves quickly and carefully, and his body is stiff from determination. He says in a strong but low voice, "We'll go to the safehouse." His voice sounds sure, and there's no room for question. I push myself to keep going even though my legs hurt as we walk through the packhouse's well-known hallways. I don't want to fall behind. We think that there is danger everywhere and that we could be caught at any time. The building as a whole look like it's about to collapse under the weight of the threat that is coming. Callum pulls me out of my daydream as his hand closes over mine once again. I fight to keep up with him as I look up at his focused and determined face. His jaw is clenched, and his eyes are looking at everything. He looks like he's getting ready for the worst. "Are you certain that the safehouse

  • The Omega He Claimed     TRAPPED

As I look into the dark woods around the packhouse, I can feel the fear in the air and my heart beating in my chest. Dozens of bright eyes watch us, watching, piercing the darkness. The sound of aggressive wolves' low growls sent a chill down my spine as they circled like hunters. Callum takes a strong step ahead of me, blocking their view of me with his taut figure. I can feel the raw energy flowing off him, ready to attack at any moment, as his muscles tense beneath his clothes. He's trying to protect me and hide me from the danger that is coming ahead, but I know he can tell what I'm doing. We are trapped. I cling to his arm, my fingers shaking, not sure if it's from cold or fear. A warning roars through the air as the wolves get closer and their snarls get louder. They are not present to haggle. They are here to finish this. In a gruff sneer, Callum whispers, "Stay behind me." His eyes are full of purpose as he looks back at me, but I can feel the nervousness hiding behind the

Bennet's look pierced mine, and I felt a surge of worry wash over me as he approached me. My heart quickens as I look into his eyes, which used to be so familiar, but now they have a scary focus that makes me feel scared instead.Bennet growls, his voice raw with anger, "You don't belong with him." And now he's too close. "Aurora, you belong with me." His tone was one of privilege and charge, and the words struck me like a slap. My mouth opens, but nothing comes. His very presence stirs up feelings I thought I had buried deep. He's looking at me as if I'm still that girl who would do anything to be close to him. However, I'm not. No more. I manage to say, "Don't," taking a reflexive step back. I am grounded by a sense of security when my back touches Callum. The action causes Bennet's eyes to flicker, getting darker with anger and envy that are bubbling beneath the surface. The smell of danger fills the air as the wind blows up around us. Bennet keeps her attention on me as though

  • The Omega He Claimed     FIGHT FOR LOVE

With a storm forming behind them, Bennet's eyes enter my own, tightening the air between us. I prepare myself for his words as his lips turn into a sneer, but I don't flinch. I am unable to. Not right now.I strongly say, despite my heart beating in my chest, "I don't belong to you." "I'm with Callum now." My hand naturally goes to Callum's as I feel his power and warmth surrounding me. Despite my greatest desire to flee the destruction Bennet causes in my life, I refuse to allow him to scare me. As he moves forward, Bennet's jaw tightens, and his eyes narrow. "You believe you can simply take away everything we owned?" There's a hatred in his voice that makes my skin crawl, and it's low and scary. "You believe he can love you as much as I did?" The words, each tinged with poison, come out of his mouth. I don't want to think about what he said. I turn to face Callum, who is straight and strong beside me. As though to tell me that I'm not facing this war alone, he puts his arm around

Callum. He is constantly present, constantly on guard, and constantly prepared. His eyes never leave mine as he firmly grasps me and drags me back to my feet. His presence works as a calming force amid the mayhem, and his touch is grounded. Despite the nervousness in the air, he replies quietly, "Stay with me." Even throughout this fight, something is reassuring about the way he looks at me, as if he would never allow anything to hurt me as long as he is present, and

As it charges with its teeth bared and saliva streaming from its mouth, the rogue's eyes pierce mine. I automatically sidestep, my heart hammering against my ribs, but the beast is faster than I thought. The air is knocked out of my lungs as it crashes into me. Pain shooting through my chest, I fight to stay upright as the forest spins. The rogue is unrelenting as I swing my knife, aiming for its throat. Snarling, it dodges and pushes me back toward the trees. The impact's force causes my eyesight to blur, and for a split second, I worry that I won't survive this battle. My feet slip on the blood-slick floor as I scramble. Even if my breathing is labored, I don't give up and continue to move. It's no longer just about me. It's about defending my pack and those who have battled beside me. I cannot allow Victor to triumph.I lift my dagger, the blade gleaming in the moonlight, as the rogue lunges once more. I swing it as hard as I can with what little strength I have left. The night devolves into mayhem. The air is filled with growls and snarls as bodies collide, claws tearing through fur, fangs digging into flesh. Blood is all over the woodland floor, and the smell is overpowering. A rogue lunges at me, its eyes blazing with bloodlust, before I can even react.Callum moves like a blur and slams a vicious blow into it before it can get to me. With a shriek of anguish, the rogue falls to the ground as his claws sever its side. He doesn't think twice. With one more deadly strike, he completes the job and turns to face me."Stay close," he growls, looking over the battlefield with his golden gaze. "I won’t let them touch you."I tighten my hold on my dagger and nod.Bennet, on the other hand, battles like a man under a spell. His movements are precise, his strikes are powerful, and each attack is planned for maximum damage. Tonight, he is different. He doesn't hesitate or let any residual feelings stop him. • The Omega He Claimed    We was  Surrounded by Enemies

As we run through the woodland, Callum's hand firmly holding mine, the tension in the air is palpable. Every stride Victor's army takes gets louder and closer until I can hear it echoing in my ears. The trees appear to close in, winding around us like a prison, and my heart thuds in my chest."We must continue to move," Callum exhorts in a stern yet quiet voice. Even though I can feel the weight of the looming conflict bearing down on us, his eyes spark with resolve.I nod, but my body is exhausted from the mental maelstrom roiling inside of me as much as the running, and my legs feel heavy. Though Bennet's revelation still taints my thoughts like a poison, I can't afford to be weak right now. Not when we are about to die.The rustle of leaves in front of me abruptly stops me in my tracks. As others start to appear out of the darkness, I know what's happening and my blood chills. • The Omega He Claimed    The Ultimate Betrayal

Everything around me is poisoned by Bennet's words, which linger in the air like a curse. I suddenly lose my capacity to breathe as my heart thuds forcefully in my chest. As his revelation sets in, the ground wobbles under me, sending the sword of betrayal even farther into my heart. Unable to take my eyes off of him, I take an unsteady step back. "You did this, did you?" His statements have upset me so badly that my voice cracks. "My family was destroyed because of you?" Bennet's eyes implore me to understand and forgive him as his face contorted with humiliation. However, how can I? How am I ever going to forgive such a thing? The guy I once loved is now standing in front of me recognizing that he contributed to the devastation of my family and my world. Bennet adds, "I didn't know," in a voice that is hardly audible, as if raising his voice may fracture the tiny thread of control I'm holding to. "Aurora, I had no clue it would end this way. Victor took advantage of me and manipu

  • The Omega He Claimed    A Heart Divided

The room seems oppressively tight. With our hands securely clenched together as if the tie were enough to hold us planted, Callum and I stand side by side. However, the weight of everything hangs down on me like a thick fog, regardless of how tightly I cling to that warmth. For individuals I care about, every decision we make might be the difference between life and death, and the tension is intolerable. I can feel my chest becoming tighter as we start strategizing how to reply to Victor's attack. As he provides guidance and advise, Callum's voice is solid and steady, and I can tell he's doing all he can to keep me safe. But every time I talk or look at Bennet, I'm reminded of an old grief I thought I had long ago forgotten. The sensations swirling in my chest are bewildering and disturbing. I thought that I had moved on. I assumed I had ignored Bennet. But now that he's so close, those memories are emerging and fighting to grab a footing. I can't get rid of Bennet's presence like a

  • The Omega He Claimed     A Race Against Time

Bennet's words hit me like a kick to the stomach. "Crush the pack?" Horror twisted in my blood, I whispered. It feels like my heart is going to burst out of my chest. I'm not alone anymore. Victor isn't merely chasing me. He is chasing everyone. Each and every one.Bennet is standing a few feet away, his attitude serious. His eyes are gloomy and dark with sorrow or regret. I am unable to tell. "Yes," he answers softly but with a shiver of certainty. "Aurora, he will attack soon. And everyone you care about will perish if you don't stop him. My throat tightens every breath. The world seems to have fallen away from under me. I feel as though my legs could fall at any time. The seriousness of what he's saying is beyond my understanding. Victor's goal is to destroy everyone. Callum, my pals, my pack... I turn to face Callum, and my eyes lock with his angry, protective look. I can nearly hear his teeth grinding together because of how tightly his jaw is locked. His body language is screa

  • The Omega He Claimed     Betrayed Again?

At last, we reach a depth of the forest, far enough that the rogues' noises are muted. The breeze hardly stirs the leaves around us, and the night feels uncannily calm. Running has left my legs burning, and my heart is still racing. However, despite the brief security, I can't get rid of the growing doubt that makes my chest tighten like a knot.Bennet. He helped us, but why? What would make him suddenly change sides after everything he's done? The uneasiness that is churning in my stomach won't go away, and it doesn't make sense. I turn to face Bennet and stop walking, removing my hand from Callum's hold. My voice is shaky and my breath comes in short spurts, but I'm able to hold it steady enough. "Bennet, why did you assist us?" I ask, breaking the quiet with my words. Bennet's dark, mysterious eyes meet mine. My worries just get bigger when he doesn't reply right away. With a tight body, Callum approaches me, prepared to assist if Bennet makes a mistake. With a harder tone now,

  • The Omega He Claimed     An Unexpected Ally

Bennet, with his massive shoulders straight and his weapon still burning weakly in the darkness, stands tall between us and the outlaws. With a determined fire in his eyes, he swings around to face us when his vicious stare latches onto Victor's fleeing body. With a forceful and uncompromising voice, he announces, "I'm not letting Victor win this fight." My body trembles from the adrenaline of the near-escape, and I blink in amazement, still leaning on Callum for support. Why is Bennet now aiding us? I wasn't even positive whose side he was on until a few seconds ago. Tension pervades the air, and I can feel Callum's muscles tensing up next to me. He holds me protectively behind him as he moves forward Bennet, his jaw tightening into a snarl as his body emanates rage. "Bennet, you're the reason we're in this mess," Callum says in a low, frightening voice. "They came here because of you. We were put up by you! Bennet's expression stays uncompromising. He maintains his cool, but as

Callum takes a strong grasp of my hand and leads me over to the wood's edge. My legs feel weak from worry of the rogues chasing us, and my heart thuds in my chest. He hangs on to me when I fall, his arm surrounding my waist to keep me going. Behind us, the rogues' growls became more evil and louder. I peek over my shoulder and gasp, "They're getting closer." There are rogues everywhere, and they're coming closer. As I look straight at Victor, who is standing in the middle of the chaos and watching us with his chilly, twisted grin, my stomach flips. His chuckle makes me shudder. Callum mutters to himself, "We'll make it," but I can hear the fear in his voice. His body is straight and his jaw is tight, as though he is ready for the worst. Panic growing in my throat, my heart pounding. I shake as I say, "There's no way out." "We're confined." Callum's grasp on me becomes stronger. "Aurora, I will not allow him to take you.
