Just then...

The door slid open.

“Oh, shit!” Jess’s voice rang out, eyes wide like saucers as she froze at the doorway.

Eloise jolted, heart hammering, but Dino didn’t even flinch. Cool as ever, he simply looked over his shoulder, one hand still firmly on Eloise’s waist.

“Jess,” he greeted casually, voice like he hadn’t just been seconds away from devouring Eloise whole.

Jess blinked, mouth opening and closing like she couldn’t form words fast enough. “I... I’ll pretend I didn’t see anything,” she sputtered, slamming the door shut so fast the walls shook.

Eloise buried her face against Dino’s chest, mortified. “Oh my god.”

He laughed softly, lips brushing the top of her head. “Guess that wasn't bad at all.”

Her face burned, but his arms only tightened around her. “I don't really care,” he murmured against her hair. “I don't think I'm letting you go.”

Later that night, after everything had quieted down, Jess cornered Eloise in their room, arms folded, one brow raised

Across the space, Dino stood stiffly by the drinks table, glass in hand, eyes sharp and fixed on the pair. His jaw tightened slightly as Matteo leaned in to whisper something that made Eloise laugh... something that wasn’t meant to sting, but did all the same. Beside Dino, Luca sidled up, catching the direction of his brother’s gaze. "So this is it, huh?" Luca teased, nudging him lightly. "Family." Dino’s lips pressed into a thin line, saying nothing. Luca chuckled, taking a sip of his drink. "I always wanted a sister, you know. Though, I gotta say..." he glanced at Dino sideways, smirking..."she might be the only one who can handle you. You can be pretty boring sometimes." Dino shot him a look but didn’t deny it. His attention flicked back to Eloise, her soft smile, the way she moved so easily with Matteo. Luca's words lingered in the air, light and teasing, but Dino barely reacted. His focus remained glued to the dance floor, watching as Matteo effortlessly made Eloise l

The wedding reception slowly shifted into a more relaxed, intimate after party. Guests who remained were family and friends, laughter mingling with the soft hum of music as the night stretched on. Eloise found herself seated with Jess and Matteo, nursing a drink while conversation ebbed around her. Across the terrace, Dino stood in a quiet circle with Luca and Alessandro, but every so often, his gaze flicked toward her always brief, always unreadable. Matteo leaned back in his chair, glancing between the two of them knowingly but saying nothing. Instead, he stretched his arms lazily, flashing her an easy grin. "Enjoy tonight while you can, Eloise. Once we’re back in New York, it’s back to chaos." She laughed softly, but her heart tightened at the mention of returning. As the night wound down, Alessandro and Anne made their rounds, thanking guests one last time. When they stopped b

Eloise excused herself quickly, retreating to the room she’d been assigned. She needed space to breathe, to unpack literally and emotionally. But as she closed the door behind her, she couldn’t help but lean against it, Dino’s voice still echoing in her head. Tomorrow’s work. Back to normal. Back to pretending. Her chest tightened. Eloise dropped her suitcase by the bed, blowing out a sharp breath. “Is he kidding me?” she muttered under her breath, pacing the room. Not even twenty four hours back and Dino was already acting like Hawaii hadn't happened... like they hadn’t kissed, hadn’t touched, hadn’t nearly unraveled everything holding them together. She yanked open her suitcase a little too hard, frustration bubbling beneath her calm exterior as she unpacked. Each movement sharp, purposeful, as i

Not really who she expected. It wasn’t Dino. Just a colleague standing by her desk, offering a small nod. “Boss wants to see you in his office. Right now.” Eloise exhaled slowly, nodding as she set down her pen. Of course, he did. Pushing back her chair, she straightened her blouse and grabbed her notepad... an unnecessary prop, but she needed something to keep her hands busy. The walk to Dino’s office felt both too long and too short. Every step tightened the coil of tension in her stomach. She knocked once, firm and professional. “Come in,” his voice came from inside. She turned the handle, stepping in to find him sitting behind his desk, eyes already on her. For a brief moment, neither of them spoke. “You wanted to see me?” she asked, keeping her tone businesslike. He gestured to the chair across from him. “Close the door, Eloise.” A flicker of heat crawled up her spine at the way he said her name, but she masked it, shutting the door before moving to sit.

Eloise POV "Eloise, how do I look?" Mom asked, twirling slightly, her eyes wide with anticipation. "Mom, this is the third time you’re asking me that," I replied, trying not to roll my eyes. "You look perfect." "Come on, can’t you see the difference?" She leaned in, pointing at her lips with a grin. "I’m wearing red lipstick instead." I laughed, shaking my head. "Oh, I see now. Looking hot." She beamed, fluffing her hair one last time as if this mysterious man she’d been going on about would notice every detail. Ever since she met him, I’d barely been able to have a single conversation with her that didn’t somehow circle back to him Alessandro, the "incredible," "successful," and, of course, "oh-so-charming" billionaire. Mom was head over heels. She’d light up every time she talked about him, and at first, it was sweet to see her so happy. But as the months rolled by, something didn’t sit right with me. Six months of whirlwind romance, secretive weekends away, and nonstop

Not long after, a tall, handsome guy with an easy smile walked toward us. His dark hair was styled perfectly, and he had the kind of effortless confidence that only comes from being comfortable in places like this. “Ahh, here he is," Alessandro said, standing up with a grin. "This is Luca." He turned to us. "Anne, Eloise, meet my younger son, Luca." Luca gave my mom a warm smile before turning to me, his handshake firm but friendly. “Nice to finally meet you, Eloise. My dad’s been going on and on about this dinner.” I managed a polite smile, still processing everything. There was a warmth in Luca’s eyes, a friendliness that made him instantly likable. Then Luca leaned toward his father, murmuring something. Alessandro nodded, and with a slight frown, he turned to us. "Well, it seems Dino won’t be joining us today. He’s still tied up on a business trip and won’t make it back in time.” “Oh, what a shame," my mom said, sounding genuinely disappointed. "I was hoping we’d meet

I managed a tight smile, trying to ignore the way my pulse was racing. “Yeah… nice.” “Nice to meet you too,” I replied coolly, keeping my tone steady. Not nice to meet you, I thought to myself, brushing aside the fact that we knew each other. Mom smiled, glancing between Dino and his father. “You look so much like your father, Dino.” She was right; there was a striking resemblance. Both shared the same intense dark eyes and a jawline that seemed carved from stone. Alessandro’s features had softened with age, but Dino… he had an edge that made him almost intimidating. Dino’s mouth curved into a small smile, as if used to hearing this comparison. “I get that a lot.” I managed a tight smile of my own, keeping my expression neutral. It was strange, sitting across from someone who had been such a painful part of my past, and watching him play the role of a polished, polite son. It was as if he had wiped out everything he’d done back then. The conversation carried on lightly b

“What? Dino Alessandro? Like Dino Dino?” Jessica’s voice practically shrieked through the phone. I sighed, flopping back onto my bed, staring at the ceiling. “Yes, Jessica. For the millionth time, Dino Dino.” Jessica, my best friend since college, was the kind of person who made life bearable. We’d bonded over late-night study sessions, caffeine-fueled breakdowns, and our mutual love of trashy rom-coms. She was fearless and fiery, the kind of person who’d storm into a professor’s office to argue over a grade without hesitation. If I ever needed a cheerleader, a therapist, or even a partner in crime, Jessica was it. Unlike me, she never let anyone walk all over her. She was bold, loud, and unapologetically herself. Exactly the kind of person I’d always wished I could be. “No freaking way,” she said, her disbelief dripping through every word. “You mean the same Dino Alessandro who wait, hold on, I need to sit down for this. Okay, go on. The same Dino who made your high school a li

“You can tell me to stop,” Dino murmured, voice thick, strained, but his thumb was brushing along her jaw so delicately, like she was something precious. Eloise shook her head faintly, chest heaving. “I don’t want you to.” That was all he needed. He kissed her again, slower now, deeper, tasting every inch of her mouth like he couldn’t get enough. His hand slid under the hem of her sweater, fingers brushing over the bare skin at her waist. The touch sent a shiver through her... so light, so electrifying it made her knees weaken. She gasped softly, clinging to his shoulders, nails digging in just slightly as his lips trailed down to the corner of her mouth, then lower, brushing against the sensitive skin just below her jaw. Each kiss left her dizzy, wanting more, needing more. “Dino…” she breathed, voice trembling, almost pleading without realizing it. He smiled faintly against her skin, pulling back just enough to meet her eyes again. His gaze burned into her, a soft, reverent l

  • The Obsession Of My Stepbrother   Chapter 51

The night air was cool against Eloise’s skin when she stirred awake, tangled in the sheets. Her room was dim, moonlight slicing through the curtains. But sleep felt impossible. Her heart still felt tight from the conversation with Jess, the memory of Dino’s lips pressing gently against hers replaying over and over like a record she couldn’t stop. She swallowed, realizing the taste of him still lingered faintly on her lips. Restless, she threw on a thin sweater over her tank top and quietly padded out of the room, careful not to wake Jess. The villa was quiet, only the sound of the waves crashing outside. She didn’t have a plan. She just needed air. But the moment she stepped into the hallway, she froze. Dino was there, leaning casually against the wall at the end of the hall, his head resting back as if he’d been waiting… or maybe trying to shake off his own demons. His hair was tousled, dark eyes shadowed in the low light, and his sharp jaw flexed when he noticed her. For a sec

Behind Jess, Matteo and Luca trailed in, looking mildly exhausted but entertained. “Yeah,” Matteo said, smirking. “Luca and I went to pick her up from the mainland.” Jess gave a dramatic sigh, setting her bag down. “Took them long enough. I missed my girl, so here I am.... and a wedding coming up.” Eloise couldn’t help but laugh, the weight in her chest easing slightly as Jess threw her arms around her in a hug. “Though, you could use some company,” Jess murmured close to her ear, pulling back with a knowing look. Eloise smiled, glancing over Jess’s shoulder just in time to catch Dino watching them quietly from across the room. Their eyes met briefly, just enough to send a pulse racing through her. “Looks like dinner’s going to be interesting tonight,” Luca quipped as he shrugged off his jacket. Matteo chuckled under his breath. “More than interesting.” Anne simply shook her head, amused, before excusing herself back to the kitchen. Eloise swallowed, her gaze flickin

For a moment, he didn’t answer. The sound of the waves against the boat filled the space between them, mingling with the faint echo of rain still lingering from the night before. Then, softly but undeniably clear, he spoke. “I’ve always been in love with you, Eloise.” Her head snapped toward him, eyes wide, lips parting in disbelief. She opened her mouth, but no words came out. Instead, her heart thundered so loudly she was sure he could hear it too. Dino kept his eyes on her, vulnerability written across his face in a way she’d never seen before. No teasing smirk. No cocky bravado. Just raw honesty. “I know I was a bastard back then,” he continued, voice hoarse. “I know I pushed you, mocked you… hurt you. But even then, somewhere deep down, it was because you made me feel something I couldn’t understand.” Eloise’s throat tighten
