Beach:
The sand was warm and gritty feeling as her knees crashed into it. Danica dug her fingers in it as she leaned over bracing herself. She inhaled deeply, she was desperately trying to catch her breath. The water from the ocean dripped off of her and puddled into the sand. She watched it turn the sand a dark gray color as she calmed her burning lungs. She had jumped out of the row boat as they neared the shore and helped pull the rowboat in. She felt a strong arm slip under hers and help pull her up to her feet.
“You alright Captain?” Kaleb said to her his hands lingering on her.
“Aye.” Danica answered leaning back into him a little bit as she looked around.
The island was covered in white sand that led to a wooded area. Judging by how the tr
Uncharted: Danica stretched, arching her back and raising her hands above her head. She let out a small groan as she did. Her outward hand reached into the sandy grit. Touching the sand she remembered where she was. She opened her eyes. The Sun was just peeking above the ocean and the tops of the waves were etched with its golden rays. She sat up pulling the jacket around her. She looked down at the simple brown jacket. She inhaled deeply and knew right away whose jacket it was. His scent made her feel warm, he smelt like freedom like the wind blowing in wide open spaces. Adventure. He smelt like the earth on a cold day. She found herself wrapping herself in it as she stood. She didn't realize it but her eyes were scanning the beach for him; Kaleb. “Morning Captain, what be the plan today?” A man cradling his own coat to himself asked her.
Scars:Ariadne wrapped herself in the warmth next to her. She nuzzled her head into the warmth as her toes curled. Her foot slowly rubbed against his leg subconsciously as she melted into the feeling. She could stay like this, she thought not wanting to open her eyes. She listened to his soft heart beat. The sound of it was better than any music she had ever heard. The rise and fall of his chest was begging her to fall back to sleep. She couldn't tell if he was still asleep, her eyes wanted to peek and look but she was afraid. Afraid that if she opened them and looked, the world would come rushing in and everything that she needed to handle would be waiting for her. She didn't want that, she wanted to stay in this small paradise where no one asked anything of her and she could just be.“We can't stay like this forever.” Patrick whispered to her.
Memories: Patrick watched the door shut and her fiery red hair disappear. He quickly found his shirt and pulled it over his head. He gritted his jaw thinking of his father. He said too much he shouldn't have told her. He stared down at the wooden floor. An image flashed in front of his eyes. Loud noises of yelling and dishes breaking. He could still feel the stairs creaking between his feet as if he was walking down the stairs in his old home. The yelling stopped as he reached the kitchen. He was scared, he didn't know why at the time but he felt like something bad was in the kitchen. Like there was a monster waiting for him. He was twelve and didn't believe in monsters anymore. He took a deep breath and walked into the kitchen. Porcelain dishes were shattered about the floor, his mother on the floor leaning against the kitchen cabinet. Tears stained her very red face.“Mother?” Patrick whispered. Her eyes grew wide as she shook her head at him and told him to go with
Trance: “This way.” Danica yelled as she rounded another corner, the men growing tired as the jungle around them became dark. They had been walking for hours, the jungle growing thicker and darker as they walked. Danica wasn't stopping. She was not even really with them. Jacob had called to her a few miles back asking her to slow her pace but she acted like she didn't even hear them. This was the first time she had spoken or awkledged them since she veered off the path. She wasn't using any directional tools, no compass, no map, she hadn't even looked at the map she was clutching tightly in her fist. She couldn't see the stars the Jungle had locked out the sky. That was it Kaleb had enough of whatever this was. He moved up in the group he had hung back making sure everyone was ok.“Dani!” He called up to her as he began to push his way through the men.The men did their best to move aside but the path they started on was getting smaller and smaller as th
Haunting:Danica stretched into him, Kaleb’s warm body pressed against as he wrapped his arms around her. He had made them a spot in the inner part of the clearing, his eyes staring into the surrounding trees as if he was waiting for something before he actually decided to settle down. Danica’s yawning was his final giving point. He had laid out a blanket one handed before laying down on it and pulling him against her. Kaleb wasn't kidding when he said he wasn't letting her go. He held her hand everywhere she went that night and when it was time to finally laid down and get some sleep. He did just what he said. He laid down and pulled her into his arms. She chuckled curling up into him. Turning over in his arms, She rested her head on his chest and listened to his heart beat. Kalebs strong arms encased her. She looked up at the millions of stars looking down on them and studied them.“They are beautiful. More beautiful than anything I have ever se
Let Go:Danica walked slowly to the cave entrance. Peering inside it was pitch black. She went to step inside the cave carefully, something was telling her to be cautious.“The flower.” The voice called to her.“Flower?” Danica asked, withdrawing her foot from inside the cave. She turned trying to find the figure again but she wasn't there. She looked down at her hand and there was the white flower. Its stem had three thorns on it. She brought it up to her face looking at it. The thorns matched the punctures on her wrist. She looked at the flower; what was she supposed to do with this. She let the flower dangle in her hand as she looked back at the cave. A soft melody began flowing out the cave. It was haunting and beautiful. Danica tried looking deeper into the cave without going in but couldn’t see anything.“Alright here goes nothing.” She whispered before stepping into the cave.“Danica!”
Trapt:Danica struggled to get to her feet pushing off the sand. She stumbled as she tried to race after Kaleb. The piercing noise was growing with each step she took. Covering her ears she pushed herself forward. She could hear a low rumble noise that reminded her of the ocean’s waves crashing against the shore. She knew water was coming up soon and she had to stop Kaleb before he walked mindlessly into it.The cave passage narrowed. The rocks lining it were dark ash color and jagged. She was careful not to brush against them for fear that the sharp edges would tear into her flesh. She was close to him now he was just out of reach. She held out her hand in front of desperately trying to touch him. Part of her was praying that he would trip, fall or collapse. She went to grab him and he moved slightly. As if expecting her to touch him. She nearly fe
Step by Step: Danica went to step forward and her leg buckled in on her. She let out a painful cry as she almost toppled to the ground. Kaleb caught her and pulled her back into him. She collided against his chest. He grunted at the impact, she could tell he was also in pain but forcing it away to make sure she was ok.“I think we need to take a minute.” She whispered into his chest.“Aye Love.” He replied back as he rubbed her arm softly. He glanced around and saw some rocks off to the side. He took Danica’s arm and placed it around his neck. She raised an eyebrow at him as his hand moved to her back. Before she knew it Kaleb had scooped her off her feet and was walking to the rocks. She sighed about to argue but she knew it would be of no use. He was stubborn and wouldn't put her down. She leaned her head into his chest enjoying the closeness of him. He settled down on to the rock with Danica still cradled in his arms like a baby.“I could sit next
Forever: The next several days were a blur. The Smith’s had buried Edward. Patrick had come by several times to see Ariadne. They were now official and very out in the open. They couldnt be in a room without touching one another. Patrick was now co-owner of the company with Kaleb being his partner. They had been discussing merging or being partners in the company. Danica sat by the dock, dunking the tips of her toes in the water reflecting on the first day Patrick came over. He and Ariadne were sitting closely at the kitchen table talking terms of agreement and partnership between the two companies when Danica walked down the stairs. Patrick smiled brightly at her. “Morning Danica.” Patrick said politely to her. Danica smiled back at him, her eyes searching to see if maybe he had com
Treasure Chest:Danica walked silently back to her house with Kaleb. He was clenching his jaw off and on. She didn't know if it was because of the pain in his arm or of everything that happened.“You know, I'm still so angry. He’s dead and I am numb to that but I'm angry. Every ounce of me wanted him to hurt for the years of pain he put us through. The constant beatings , the be the best or else attitude pounded into us, and hurting my mother. I took off as soon as i could and still feel so much guilt from it. I never knew if I did the right thing. My mother begged me to go. He had told her he would kill me the next time he was upset or one of us failed. I was always the least favorite. I don't know if I ever did the right thing leaving. Part of me wanted him to suffer more. To feel what it felt to live the way he made us all.” Kaleb said the
Rescue:Orion gathered what weapons he had in the home. He had several daggers stashed on him, his pistol and sword hung by his waist. Claire was determined to come with him. She walked back into the kitchen for the third time, Jack’s pistol hanging from her hip with her sword on the other side. Orion could tell she also had a dagger in her boot. He smiled a little bit. They couldn't come up with a plan so now they were just going to storm the castle and see what would happen.“Are you sure you're ready?” Orion asked, looking at Claire.“Stop asking me boy, you have no idea what your aunt has done in the past. Now let's go get Jack.” Claire said walking to the door.Ariadne was nervous as she stared the ship into the harb
Kidnapped:Ariadne came out of the captain's cabin, her face flushed a little. She smiled a little embarrassed at seeing what she saw. She straightened up and gained her composure. Patrick raised an eyebrow at her asking what was wrong but she just smiled sweetly in return. He walked over to her with a puzzle look on his face.“Are you alright?” He asked, taking her hand in his.“Aye I’m ok. Kaleb and Dani that's all. Anyways, how's it going with the rest of the crew?.” Ariadne laughed, his fingers entwining with his.“Good we're just waiting on the rest of the flower water.” Patrick said, nodding to the lower deck. The men had lined up and were waiting to get
Cure:Several minutes which seemed like hours passed. They began setting up a system. Each person infected would get serum followed by the flower water. Then those not infected would have the flower water as a precaution if the rash occurred then the serum. Ariadne glanced at Danica who was still out. She sighed heavily, Kaleb touched her shoulder lightly trying to comfort her.“ I don't know what else to do. I can't think of anything else.” She whispered, her voice cracking as she spoke. She could feel her hands starting to shake, she was about to lose it. She took a deep breath in trying to calm herself before she lost control. This was too much, this all was too much. The company, the pressure, the voyage, and now she needed Dani to wake up. She didn't realize it but her breathing rapidly change
Poisoned:They made their way out of the jungle so much quicker and faster than they did before. Their feet hitting the sandy beach soil, arms filled with flowers as they made it to the rowboat all running the best they could on the sand. They all wanted back on the ship as soon as possible. Kaleb dropped his arm full of flowers into the boat Danica and Araidne climbed in. Patrick dropped the ones he was carrying into the rowboat as well. Kaleb and Patrick began pushing the rowboat into the ocean. One the boat was floating in the water they both climbed in. They began to row back to the ship hoping everything was still ok. The ocean water seemed to be effortless to paddle through and they reached the ship in no time. The ropes were lowered down to help capture the row boat. Patrick and Kaleb fastened the rowboat to the ropes and the crew began pulling it up. Once on board they unloaded
Flowers:The rowboat crashed into the ocean Ariadne was flung forward into Patrick’s lap. He wrapped his arms quickly around her, steading her. She smiled softly at him as he helped her sit back on the seat. Danica watched the exchange and she was slowly starting to believe he might be a good guy or a very good actor. It was hard to trust him. Kaleb handed the oar to Patrick and they began making their way back to the island. The sky was now riddled with stars and the moon was the only light they had guiding them. Danica prayed that they could find the way back to the arch way with the white flowers. As they approached the shoreline Danica went to hop out but felt a hand catch her shoulder.“You and Ariadna stay in the boat we can pull it in.'' Patrick said and jumped into the water before she could say anything back.
Almost: Danica’s feet hit the beach sand and the amount of joy she felt finally being out of the jungle and nothing bad happening was overwhelming. She scanned the beach and realized the crew was gone. She could see the Evening Star sitting out just past the shallow. She glanced quickly at Ariadne , her eyes questioning where everyone was. “They are safe. I had them go to the ship. I thought it would be safer.” She smiled at her sister. Jonah came out and stood next to Danica scanning the beach as well. His eyes found the Evening Star and he smiled seeing it sitting in the ocean waiting for them. “Let's get in the row boats.” Jonah said walking ahead to the row boats, he wanted nothing more than to be on his ship. Danica
Tea:Kaleb smirked watching Danica lead the way his eyes fixated on her. Patrick glanced at him slightly as he helped carry the chest. Kalbe caught him looking at him and raised his eyebrow. A silly smile formed on Patrick’s lips.“What?” Kaleb said his voice was drawn out as if he knew what his brother was going to say.“So did you find a reason to stop your endless roaming?” Patrick asked, his smile growing.Ariadne squeezed by the brothers hurrying to catch up to Danica. She raised an eyebrow at Kaleb hearing the question Patrick asked him. Instead of stopping to listen she kept going. They didn't have time for endless chit chat and she needed to form a plan with her sister.“Did you find a reason to take chances?” Kaleb shot back at him and nodded towards Ariadne who hurried to catch up to Danica. The two stared at the two women, both men stunned at the view. One bright like the sun, constant l
