JAYDEN ALEXANDER
An appreciative whistle grabbed my attention while I entered the college premises. Gracelyn.
"Dear Cousin, couldn't wait to see your betrothed." She chuckled receiving my glare.
"Nice to see you too."
"I'm so happy now that you are finally here, I can let go the responsiblity of protecting Rosaleigh from male attention." She gestured towards the group of boys seated in the middle of the campus grounds.
"Gracelyn, keep your voice low. You dont want to blow your cover." I whispered smilingly.
"I'll see you around. Rosaleigh is in the Library." Gracelyn shrugged ignoring my comment before making her way to the cafeteria.
Gracelyn was my cousin, daughter of Aunt Raphael, Mother's only sibling. Her father was King Albert of Asmaria. Apart from her rebellious nature, Grace has proved to be a great support. I had persuaded her to study at Nashville so that she can keep an eye on Rosaleigh's condition. Uncle Henry was reluctant about this arrangement but agreed when Father assured that their identities wouldn't be revealed.
Along with Gracelyn, my most trusted men Adam and Luke disguised as students accompanied her. All these years they had protected both Gracelyn and Rosaleigh.
The moment in the library I saw Rosaleigh my heart fluttered with happiness. She took her sweet time to study my appearance while I studied her.
These past years have done a wonderful job on her. My Bellé has gained weight in the right places that only enhanced her beauty. Her chocolate brown hair that were long years back, now reached just below her shoulders. Her crystal clear deep blue eyes focused on me noting my flaws and faults.
She was occupied with assignments and I kept on disturbing her, atlast she gave up and paid heed to me. The way Rosaleigh smiled made my heart jolt as it did back then, proving that I was still affected by her charm. I introduced myself with my middle name Alexander, I was to study here under the same name.
Trying to make small conversations with Bellé was the soul goal of my early arrival at the University. It had been only three hours since I landed on the American soil. According to what my parents planned I was to meet her again for the first time at dinner but I dragged myself to college, all I wanted was a glance of my betrothed but it seems that luck was on my side.
Rosaleigh's voice calmed the inner turmoil that was running in rages before, ringing over my ears like a mother cooing her restless child to a peaceful slumber.
If I wasnt mistaken I saw flecks of recognition in her eyes. But before I could point a finger at the particular emotion it dispersed into thin air. Bellé closed her eyes for longer than a mere minute, when she opened them all I could decipher about the emotion was pain, confusion and something like yearning? Who was my Bellé longing for? Was it me? Just the thought of her yearning for me makes my heart flutter and dance to unknown tunes.
Aunt Kate had informed Mom about the gradual changes occuring in Bellé's health. She have started recollecting minute details through dreams and glimpses. And by the look on her face it was evident that she had another glimpse. Before anymore memories came back to haunt her I decided to leave the library. Eagerly waiting for the night.
How would it be like to hear her moan my name in that sweet voice of her? I shook my head chuckling at some explicit pictures that raided my mind.
A soft knock on the door brought me out of my sweet sinful imagination. I looked around, realisation stricking me like a professional's punch.
I was at the Bloemen's!!
Last night I had a great time with my family. Glancing on the side table clock my eyes turned into the size of saucers. 7 am!? Had I not even blinked the entire night? Love really does things to you! I smiled to the thought of it.
Before I could deepen myself with Rosaleigh's thoughts‚ the person on the other side of the door knocked again ‚ a bit louder this time. Getting up I flung opened the door, alas I wasnt expecting the unexpected. Stood there on the door was the person who kept me up the whole night.
Rosaleigh. Isabellé. Bloemen!!
Raising an eyebrow at her I tried to reason her being at my doorstep. Her beautiful eyes raked over me as her peaceful demeanor changed to one that of shock then to a deep scarlet. Gasping, she immediately turned over not before raking her eyes over me for once again.
Confused seeing her blush in such a dark shade of red, I glanced at myself. All my confidence and arrogance was thrown out of the window comprehending the cause of Bellé's blush. I'd answered the door half naked in my underpants only.
The boner not going unnoticed!Shitt!! I muttered under my breath and slammed the door shut.
Yesternight after settling in the room, I stripped to my underpants which was my regular sleeping attire.
What a way of starting my first day at Bloemen's!!***
ROSALEIGH ISABELLÉ
My room was situated upstairs with the other two guest rooms, one of which was now occupied by Alex. Our rooms were just a door apart. The start of my day was not so happening.
Mom had made a point that I should befriend Alex as he was to stay with us till our graduation and internship. Now that I counted the total span of time, I knew he was going to be our guest for more than a year.
Mama had assigned me a task of waking up Alex as an initiation for our friendship. Grumbling I got up and walked straight to his room, not that I was expecting him to receive me in nothing but his blue underwear. I rushed to my room finding him half naked. Blood rushed to my cheeks while my heart was hammering against my chest.
What a way to start my day!!Trying to avoid any further encounters with Alex, I went to college without him. Alex could join later.
ROSALEIGH ISABELLÉI was sitting in the classroom revising notes when Lucy joined. I always prefered Lucy's company to Grace's. Lucy was calm, composed and the most optimistic soul born on earth. She could point out good even in the worst of the situations. Whereas Grace was a totally opposite of both of us. A lively soul. She believed in living in the present rather than worrying over the past or future. Grace was popular among the boys, a heartthrob in the college. She loved us, only two friends and our simplicy. Our reality kept her grounded. The lecture was to start in another five minutes when Grace came running to class looking for me and Lucy. Grace looked like she've just escaped a war. "Okay, so I've a news." Grace starte
ROSALEIGH ISABELLÉThe ride to the college was stress free 'cause I opted a bus with Lucy than a car ride with Alex. It was fun because this was the first time I travelled in a bus since I remember.Everyday either Mama or Dad dropped me to college. It felt like one of those five years old school going girls. It was pretty uncomfortable and embarrassing but my parents didnt give a damn to all those glances that would come our way. By the time it was mid sem, no more stares came my way. It was accepted as normal.Today too, Mama was skeptical to allow me for a bus ride but when Adam accompanied us, she approved. Sometimes, I was overwhelmed about my parents being so protective. It waslike they're hiding me from something or someone, safe guarding me from an unknown threat. My life was nothing normal as much as
***ROSALEIGH ISABELLÉCurrently we were seated in the booth of the most plush diner that's in Nashville, Lucy beside me while Alex and Grace took their seats facing ours. The treat was on Alex. It would surely cause him an arm and a leg!As the food came, we ate in silence, speaking only when had to ask a thing or some regular chatters. After enjoying our meal, we were waiting for our dessert when Alex' phone rung. Noting the caller id he excused himself."Isn't it too much for Alex to afford a dinner here." Lucy whispered when Alex was out of sight. Her eyes observing our surrounding.Exactly my words! I thought.Every inch of this place was pricey and extravagant."No
***JAYDEN ALEXANDER It's been three hours since we rushed Rosaleigh to the hospital. The moment she fell into my arms unconscious, I felt like my world came crashing down, once all over again. Her pale face was etched on my memory for eternity again. Rosaleigh's doctor Mr. Brooks checked on her while he asked about what happened moments before her sudden blackout. It was her first blackout in the span of two years and just within a month of my arrival at Nashville.Am I a bad influence on Bellé's health? She'd had blackouts whenever she stressed on something or tried t
ROSALEIGH ISABELLÉ I laid in a peaceful surrounding as comforting silence embraced me. The room was silent yet I could feel someone's powerful presence. I twisted and turned to my side finally opening my eyes. It took me a while for my eyes to adjust to the bright lights in the room. Alex stood to my side, his piercing grey eyes studying me. I remember fainting when I couldn't handle that intense ache in my head. My doctors had strictly asked me to not force my brain into remembering something. That's exactly what you did ! said my conscience.Ignoring it, I sat up straight as Alex assisted me by arranging the pillows suitably. He held a cup of water, hesistantly bringing it near my lips. Wordlessly I accepted it. "
****ROSALEIGH ISABELLÉ The loud thumping against my chest, the beads of sweat covering my body slowed my pace as suddenly I felt uneasy. The dress I wore was clinging unto me in a way that suffocated me. It became difficult to walk in the heels. Everything buzzed like the loud sound of music that was blarring through the speakers. The particular feeling which resided in the corner of my heart was emerging in waves, Anxiety.Standing in the passage, my eyes travelled to the entrance of the ball - it was filled masks claded faces. The flickering lights did no good in relieving my state as my breaths came out laboured. I tried taking smal
***ROSALEIGH ISABELLÉThe chandelier dangled low from the high ceiling. Golden lighting decorated the stupendous hall as the ensemble played an unknown country music. Heels clanked against the plush marble floor as an old woman descended the staircase. Her face blurred but the air around her was regal. As she stood at the foot of the staircase, men bowed and women curtsied to her.Where am I ? In a royal fairytale?? "Bellé, I need to dance. It's a custom I can't escape " a young male voice whispered. "Go ahead Jayden, there are lots of girls
***JAYDEN ALEXANDER They say "time heals all wounds" but I dont believe in that phrase at all. Time can't heal wounds until we had closures with the person who had inflictedus. That's the exact reason why Rosaleigh is pushing me away, the wounds I have caused her in the past are weaving their way into the present we have. I am sure she doesn't remembers any of it but the gut instincts she has towards me, are telling her to be careful. It's been years since I broke her trust and shoved her towards the danger, the day when I realised I've fallen in love was the same day I almost lost her to her enemies. The day of her accident. Before I could indulge myself in the pool of self-abasement, the bell rang hinting the end of the test. I looked across the classroom at Rosaleigh as she continued to fidget
