POV Kitty
The last few months have been great... well as great as possible in a post apocalyptic world. Thanksgiving, my 16th birthday and the rest of the holidays all flew by. Don't get me wrong, I missed my Dad and friends but Craig and the pack made me feel like I was home. They made sure to let me know that I was loved and cared for at every chance and that helped me heal my broken heart.
Neil and I quickly became close friends which seemed to confuse and astound everyone except for Patrick. Even Colton seemed befuddled by us. For some reason though, we got along perfectly. He and I were opposites and we seemed to help even each other out sometimes. We trusted each other completely and he was the one I would go to when I was upset or hurt. He was like my big brother and I loved it. So did he.
I was extremely close with Tommy and Abby as well. They were the ones that would always have my back but they weren't afraid to call me out on my bulls
POV CraigIt was finally time for us to leave. These past few weeks have been difficult since we had to keep our plans from the rest of the pack. It was especially hard to not tell my parents. I've always been close to my family and I hated lying to them. I just hoped that they would understand. This time has also be difficult for another reason as well. I noticed that Clay was back to watching Kitty every time he could and it worried me. He had seemed to relax in the past few months and leave her alone but know it seemed that he was always watching. It made me feel like he was waiting for a time to catch her alone. He would glare at me whenever I caught him but never said anything. I wasn't the only one who noticed either. Colton call Neil, Patrick, Abby and I to his office a little over a week ago. FlashbackI walked into the Alpha's office and sat down next to Abby. Patrick was sitting on the other side of me and Neil
POV KittyTypically it would take Dad and I about ten hours to get to my Grandmothers when we drove. That was back when we could take the highways and there was no traffic. Now we had to avoid most major streets. Not only were they filled with stopped vehicles and dead bodies, we would be sitting ducks for any Vampires out hunting if we went that way even if we could get through. Which we couldn't.We were forced to rely on back roads and forgotten trails for this trip. As we poured over the maps in the last few weeks we realized that we would be luck to reach our destination within a week. It would probably take ten days instead of ten hours. The first day went better than expected. Luckily we knew what roads and streets were clear enough for us to get through and we ended up camping at the spot we originally though we were planning on stopping at the second night. Sadly that's when our luck ran out.We set up our tents and cooked a quic
POV CraigLuckily the rain had stopped by the next morning. We quickly ate a light breakfast and packed up, deciding to leave Vic and Paul's tent behind. I didn't like not having alone time with Kitty but it was safer to have three of us to a tent and I would do anything to make sure that Kitty was safe. The next few days were slow going. While the rain had stopped it was overcast and the mud made everything more difficult. We each had gotten our bikes stuck multiple times. Luckily we were able to push them out. Thank the Goddess for werewolf strength. The days became routine. Get up. Forage and hunt. Eat whatever we could. Pack up drive all day. Stop. Set up camp. Hunt and forage again. Build a fire. Eat. Go to bed. It was draining. We were way behind our schedule and everyone was in low spirits."Does this remind you of when you were living in the forest last year?" Tommy asked Kitty on our ninth day.We were close to our destin
POV Kitty"Kitty." a voice said and spun around to see her standing there."Sammy?" I gasped and she smiled.Only then did I see her fangs.I was in shock. I was in a panic and I could only scream for a moment. How could my other best friend be a vampire? Were all of my friends some sort of magical creature? So far I had one best friend that was a werewolf and another that was a vampire. I, myself am a witch. If I find a friend that was secretly a fae I think that would qualify as a supernatural BINGO, right?I felt heartbroken. Not only because everyone had been lying to me. Now my friends are mortal enemies as well. Plus Sammy seems to have betrayed me and is trying to kill us. I sighed. This sucked so much. I shook my head to try to clear it and then I looked over to see both Owen and Abby fighting with the other vampires. I began to cast a spell and sent the two blood suckers that were on
POV SammyI watch over my best friend carefully. Well, at least I hope she's still my best friend after all this. I don't know though. I'm starting to think that I made a huge mistake. For a genius, I'm kind of an idiot sometimes. I tend to be naive and too trusting. I look over at the seat next to me to look into the eyes of Cash, my brother. He looks as worried as I am and I know then that we've really fucked this all up. While Cash isn't the brightest crayon in the box, he's better than I am at reading people and situations. By the look he was now sending me, we've mess up. Bad.Cash and I were the only ones that survived the Nightmare from our family. Mom and Dad were already sick by the time the vampires came to our home to 'save' us. The vamps were only there for me. They had found out about my IQ and wanted my brain to join them. I had insisted that they saved my brother as well. I may have made it a deal breaker. The leader
POV SammyI looked up at him in confusion."Kitty?" I asked and he nodded with a glare."I thought that a team was going to go get her." I said and he sighed."They tried but she was gone. It looked as though her father died and she packed everything up and ran." he said and I felt my cold, dead heart ache for my friend."Oh, no. Poor Kitty. She must be heartbroken." I lamented and he nodded."I know. That's why we need to find her. We need to save her. She's all alone. She could be hurt." he said but I narrowed my eyes at him."Why all this interest in Kitty? You weren't friends with her." I asked and he sighed."I always liked her and I've been friends with your brother for years. We watched the two of you grow up together. I know how close you are. I want you to be happy here." he tried as the others looked on.I stared at him carefully and he cringed."Fine. I'm in love with her. I always have
POV SammyThe next day Cash and I were awoken by a loud banging on our door. As I ran to the door, Cash hurried to push me behind him protectively. We were surprised to see Cash's friend standing there, looking frantic. What he told us, shocked us even more. How could Kitty be a witch? Why didn't she tell us?"There's no way. Kitty would have told me. I'm her best friend." I argued but he shook his head."She has to be. That's the only way that the salt lines could have worked. It also explains why she's so good in the woods and how she survived the Nightmare." he pointed out and I realized that he was right.I sat down and thought things through."If she is one, there is a chance she didn't know before. She might have just figured it out." I reasoned and both boys nodded."Where is her mother? She's never been around?" he asked."She dead. She died in a car accident long ago when Kitty was little." I explained.
POV CashThat morning we left, I had a sense of foreboding. I looked at Sammy and saw that she looked worried as well. "Maybe this isn't the best idea. If Kitty is with the Coven then she is safe. She doesn't need us to go and impose in her new life." Sammy suggested to my friend as we loaded up a van.He rolled his eyes."She's still not safe. Didn't you ever wonder why there are so few witch covens around? They used to outnumber vampire covens." he asked and Sammy looked as confused as I felt."Get in and I'll tell you." he said and we did as he asked. His friend, Locke sat next to us. There was a driver and another warrior in the front seat with us in the back. Another two vans followed with more warriors."Way back when, witches were everywhere. Everyone loved them. They weren't like the evil witches in fairy tales. They were usually kind and helpful. The belief system most of them follow ensures that. They must
5 Years LaterPOV KittyI nervously paced the room for a moment as I thought back to all the little moments that brought me here. I smiled as I looked out the window. It was a bright November day. The air was just beginning to turn into the crisp fall air I loved but it was still warm and lovely. It was a perfect day.My grinned turned even bigger as I watched the pack set up the chairs and aisle in the back yard. They all worked together and soon everything looked to be done. The pack had grown so rapidly in these past few years. News got out about the pack that accepted everyone including Humans and soon Supernaturals and Humans were arriving at our doorstep in droves. The Supernatural Council even visited a few years ago. We were all nervous that they would order us to disband but we were pleasantly surprised to find that they were completely supportive of us.It didn't hurt that we h
POV KittyThe next morning I awoke in Craig's arms. I looked up to see him already awake and staring at me with a smile."Creeper." I teased and he chuckled in his raspy morning voice."Only for you, Darlin'" he replied and I blushed and tried to hide my face."Aww. I love that blush and I work hard for it. Don't hide it from me." he teased back."Stttooopp" I whined blushing even more. "Alright, alright. Are you hungry, still tired? What do you want or need?" he asked seriously. That's when it hit me that today was my Grandmother's funeral. I could feel my face fall and Craig must have noticed it too."Don't do that, baby. I know that today will be difficult for you but I'll be by your side the entire time. So will the whole pack. You aren't alone anymore. You will never be alone again, alright?" he said as he looked deep into my eyes.I nodded and he stared at me for a second."I'm so sorry tha
POV CraigAfter the joining oath ended, Kitty rushed off to see her family. I watched her but didn't join them right away. I wanted her to have a bit of time with her family and I didn't want to suffocate her. In reality though, I wanted nothing more than to go pick her up and lock her in our room with me. My wolf and I were still trying to calm down from the recent events and it was taking all my willpower not to act like the caveman I really was. Clay and Luna came up to me and I smiled at their joined hands. Clay introduced me to Luna and I smiled warmly at her and shook her hand. She returned my smile. I looked back over to check on Kitty and Clay followed my gaze."Bro, is this killing you? I didn't think you'd let her leave your side. At least not yet." he teased.I scoffed but cringed internally knowing that he understood that this was torture for me."She seems so sweet and lovely." Luna chimed in with a calming voice and
POV KittyWhen we got back to the pack house. Colton ordered everyone to go rest and to regroup that evening for a huge dinner. "Will everyone have a bed?" I asked Craig and he smiled at me as he carried me up to our room."Darlin' we don't even use half of the rooms in this place. Everyone will be fine." he assured me.He walked into our room and I took a deep breath. "I can't believe that I'm finally here again. I've missed this place so much." I sighed as he set me on the bed."Sally helped me set your alter back up and I was sure to bring all your things back and put them away." Craig said as he opened the cupboard to show me the alter."Thank you so much! I was worried about my Mother's book." I smiled at him."Like I would leave something so important to you." he scoffed."I'm gonna take a shower. I feel gross." I stated as I stood up."Can I join you, Darlin'?" he asked.I looked u
POV CraigWe raced after Kitty into the hallway. The group that was originally there was gone but I didn't have time to think about it as Kitty ripped open the door on the left side of the hall. This was the door that Sally, Paul, Sammy, Zeke, Kitty's Grandmother and Sammy had gone in. The room looked similar to the one we found Nick in but it was all but destroyed. Drawers and shelves were scattered on the floor. We could hear crying and screaming. My blood chilled as we made our way to the sound. I tried to grab Kitty back when we saw what was happening but she was too fast and ran towards the chaos. In the center of the room stood Nick's mother. She was holding Kitty's Grandmother who was obviously dead. Saga and Sally were crying and screaming as Paul, Zeke and Sammy looked on in disbelief."She's dead. You are all next. I will take your power just as I've take hers." Nicks mother laughed.Kitty slipped in between her Aunts an
POV CraigI woke to the sound of a scream. Not just any scream, it was Kitty's scream. The sound had me jumping to my feet. As I stood, Clay looked over to me. He looked like he was just getting up as well. I looked around to see Neil standing looking in horror around the room. Abby and Tommy were still on the ground but I could see them breathing.I could hear a voice talking and even laughing faintly. Clay, Neil and I all exchanged a look and crept towards the noise. Just as we were about to turn the corner we heard a sound that I never want to hear again. It was Kitty screaming but it was such a raw and primal sound, full of heartbreak and fear but yet resilience and bravery too. It was bittersweet and made my eyes tear up.A bright light appeared and we rushed towards it. We were shocked to see that it was Kitty. She was literally radiating light. It washed over us and I felt a calmness in my soul. When it faded along with her scream, I was
POV KittyTrigger warningI watched in disbelief as Craig fell to the ground. Nick stood behind him with a syringe and an evil smile."What did you do?!!!" I screamed at him."Don't worry. I just knocked him out. He'll be fine. Well, he would be fine if I wasn't going to kill him." Nick smirked at me.Nick went to bend over Craig's body but Tommy to the chance to tackle him then. Nick fell with Tommy on top of him. Tommy stayed on him and began punching Nick in the face as hard as he could. Nick took a few good hits before he pushed Tommy off him and Tommy went flying into the wall. I watched as he slid to the ground, unconscious.I looked around the room to see all my friends on the ground. I was just glad that they were all alive still. I took a deep breath and glared at Nick."Now it's just you and I." Nick smirked and I narrowed my eyes at him."How did you do that?" I gestured toward
POV CraigI took a deep breath and gripped Kitty's hand as Clay swung the door open. We silently walked in and looked around. We looked to be in a giant storage area. There were cabinets and drawers all over the walls and lining down the middle. I turned to look at Kitty in confusion. She shrugged with just as much confusion in her eyes.Tommy looked towards us and opened his mouth to speak when we heard a shuffling sound. Neil gestured for us to stay quiet as we crept towards the noise silently. We crept around another corner to see Nick frantically searching through drawers and throwing stuff around. We watched as he grabbed something and nodded. He threw that object into a gym bag that was on the floor next to him. Then he continued searching.Clay and I glance at each other but then I saw Nick freeze in my peripheral vision. My eyes snapped to him and I watched in horror as he took a deep breath and smirked."Kitty." he said and turne
POV KittyI watched as Nick lost his last shred of sanity and humanity. I could literally see that light die in his eyes. I knew that I should be scared. I was standing in front of great evil. This vampire and his coven were powerful and worse than that, they had no morals or standards. They would rip us apart if we let them.I wasn't scared though. I felt as though everything in my life had led up to this moment. Every thing I had gone through in the woods, with the pack, losing my Dad, even losing my Mom. All of it led here. I knew then that this was what I was meant to do. This was bigger than Nick wanting me as his. This was about an evil council oppressing and harming the very Vampires they were supposed
