Valerie Hernandez
"You're done with your friend's car?" Trevor asked as he came walking in. "Not yet though, seems like he presses the brake too hard and it causes the brake pads to wear down."
"Can you fix it?"
"I can but I can't finish it now. Maybe tomorrow."
"As long as your friend is okay with
Valerie Hernandez"So... how's my car doing?" I turned to Andrew who slides next to me. I put my food down then swallowed. "About your car, I thought that it is not that bad like probably a day everything will be settled. But I was wrong, your brake pads are broken so it needs to be changed and I don't think today or tomorrow is done.""Why?" He said scrunching his eyebrow. "Because today, I have to help the others to decorate for homecoming. A part of my detention, remember? Then, tomorrow is the day of the playoffs and I do not want to miss it. So your car will be done on Monday or Tuesday, I guess.""Can it be done a little faster?""Well, it can if I took a night shift." Slowly a grin appeared on his face. "Then take the night shift."
Valerie Hernandez "I'm going, mom," I said as I pick up the trash. I walked out with the trash bag in my hand. I dump the trash inside the garbage bin. I dusted my hands then looked up only to see Tyler just arrived. He walked out of his car without noticing me standing outside. "Oi," I called him. He turned around then raised his eyebrow. "Where have you been?" I asked. "Practice." I furrowed my eyebrow. "Till 6?" He nods. "Wow, no wonder you look like shit." He rolled his eyes and ignore me. That's strange, he usually always made a snarky remark at me. That's so unlike him. "Hey, are you okay?" "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little tired."
Valerie HernandezMy eyes fluttered open as I heard the birds chirping. I sat up, yawning while stretching my limbs. I slid my feet off from my bed then do my morning routine. Opening my wardrobe, I took the clothes that I first laid my eyes on. A pair of skinny jeans and a white hoodie. Wearing my white sneakers, I grab my bag from the couch and sling it to my shoulder. After I'm done, I head downstairs to the kitchen. Dad is facing the stove making breakfast. I plopped down the stool. "Morning dad,""Morning sweetie." He replied without glancing at me as he flips the pancakes he's making. "I thought you're already head to the diner.""I decided to take a day off.""And who will watch the diner?"
Valerie Hernandez "Aren't you guys excited for today's game?" Carmen said excitedly as we made our way inside our rival school. Julia and I shared a looked before chuckling. "You said that because you want to check out the guys right?" Julia said. Carmen faces us while walking backward. "No, who said that. I'm here to cheer our team. Go whales!!" She shouted and people around us looked at us weirdly. "Okay, you can save the energy for later though," I said while chuckling. I then pulled her arm. "How about you Val, aren't you excited to see your boyfriend playing?" Carmen tilt her head to face me. "Yeah, of course, I am," I reply as I shoot her a small smile. "Aw... you two are the sweetest couple," Carmen said. The three of us head inside the gym that is now packed with a lot of people. I saw the students from our school painted their cheeks yellow and black. They also wear basketball jerseys. Same as our school rival, the leopards.
Valerie Hernandez 54-56 The Whales are currently leading the score. The Whale Coast students are cheering for the Whales. They only have 20 minutes left before halftime. The ball is now in Liam's hands, he swerves skilfully through the Leopards. He runs to the hoop and shoots the ball but unfortunately, the ball is being blocked by the opposing team. The sound of disappointment from our team filled the room. I could see Liam curse himself for not being able to score. "If Liam gives the ball to Tyler, I think he will score it." Carmen who sat in the middle said. I turned to her. "Liam is good to you know, well luck is not on his side, unfortunately." "Yes I know, Liam is good but Tyler is amazing. We're leading the score right now is because of Tyler. Didn't you see how he played?" Carmen's right. As much as I hated his annoying attitude, he did score a lot of it. I never knew he will be that great. I mean I kn
Valerie Hernandez"We're here, come on." Carmen announced. We hop out of the car then making our way right to the entrance. Loud music could be hear from where we stand. I feel bad for the neighbor who are sleeping. I bet it's disturbing.I turned my head to Carmen. "Who's hosting the party anyway?""It's Andre.""Andre? The guy who kept flirting with you?" Carmen nods. "Yup the one and only.""Aren't his parents home?""No, they rarely at home. His parents often travel abroad.""How did you know that?" Julia asks her. Carmen shrugs. "He told me." I raised my eyebrow curiously. "Is there something going on between the two of you?"She turned to me. "What? No! We're just friends. I know that because he told me. Remember last year that I told you I've been paired up with a guy in chemistry?" I nodded. "He's the guy I was talking about.""So you ever went to his house?" The music getting louder and louder as we ne
Tyler Williams I glared at the phone as I read the text message from my mom. She promised me she will attend my game today but she lied. She always say the same thing over and over. "Sorry honey, I have work to do" and I am sick hearing it. As I shove my phone inside my pocket, my eyes caught a familiar face running past me. I tilt my head and realize that's Valerie. Why is she running? Not even a minute, Liam following her from behind while calling her name. Okay, what's wrong with them? Since I don't have anything to do other than drinking, I decided to follow them outside. "Val, listen to me first?" "There's nothing I need to hear. I saw you." "Is not like you didn't do the same." "What?" "I saw you with Tyler the other day at the gym. He was back hugging you." Wait what? What are they talking about and why is he bringing up my name? "It has nothing to do with what you you did."
Valerie HernandezSlamming shut the locker as I face Liam and glared at him. "What do you want?""I just want to apologize to you. I'm sorry that I acted like a ass, accusing you for something that you didn't do.""You just realize that?" I said in a disinterested tone. "Please Val?""I don't know Liam, accusing me that I cheated on you then you kissed freaking Bianca that always wanted you in the first place, hurt me.""I know that's why I'm apologizing." I walked off but he block me. "Please Val, I'm sorry. Just give me a chance." I sighed. "I'll think about it." I leave him and head to my first period. Making my way to my seat, I drop my bag on the table then taking out the books that I need. From the corner of my eyes, I could see the Barbie's are making their way to me but thankfully the teacher came and they went back to their seat.I sighed in relief. I've been safe by the bell."Students please open
Valerie HernandezThe past few days had been surprisingly okay. Everything seemed to be falling into place, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. I was happy that I was no longer fighting with Tyler, and even Liam had admitted his wrongdoings and apologized. It was a welcome change, and I was grateful for the peace that had settled over. However, I don’t know about Tyler and Liam. But it seems like they haven’t gotten over the fight yet. Tyler broke Liam nose and even after a week, the bruised is still visible. Whereas Tyler only had a small cut on his lips and bruised knuckles, but the rest is fine.Liam and I no longer shared the same table at lunch, but we still acknowledged each other with a small smile or a simple "hey" as we passed in the hallways. It was a far cry from the tension that had once existed between us, and I was glad that we had finally been able to move past it.Then there was Tyler. Despite still having detention, he was finally back at scho
Tyler WilliamsThe next day dawned with a heavy sense of regret weighing on my shoulders. As I tried to approach Valerie, she quickly avoided me, slipping away before I could even say a word. Even at school, she managed to evade me, leaving me feeling like a complete idiot.I couldn't shake the guilt that gnawed at me. My behavior had been completely uncalled for. Valerie had been there for me yesterday, worried about me, and instead of being grateful, I had pushed her away like some kind of jerk. The next day was no different. I woke up early, hoping to catch Valerie before she left for school, but it seemed she had gone with her dad again, slipping through my fingers once more. Another missed opportunity to talk to her, to make things right.Feeling frustrated and desperate, I headed to the auto shop to see if Trevor could help me. I needed to know Valerie's work schedule, but when I asked Trevor, he refused to tell me. Apparently, it was at Valerie's request."Come on, Trevor," I p
Tyler WilliamsI waved my hands triumphantly from inside my car, a wide, arrogant smile plastered on my face as the host announced me as the winner. The crowd roared with excitement as I drove my car out of the rink, the adrenaline still coursing through my veins. As soon as I stepped out of the car, a familiar voice called my name with a tone that sent shivers down my spine. I turned to see Valerie marching towards me, her expression a mix of anger and concern. Behind her were Ryan and Trevor, trying to catch up to Valerie.I felt a surge of shock and confusion. How did Valerie know I was here? And why did she look so angry? It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how she found out, with Ryan and Trevor standing right behind her.I sighed heavily as Valerie stood in front of me, her eyes blazing with anger. She wasted no time in scolding me, her words coming out furiously."Do you have any idea how crazy that was, Tyler?" she demanded, her voice trembling with emotion. "Do yo
Valerie HernandezAs I continued working on the car in the auto shop, I lost track of time, engrossed in the task at hand. Suddenly, Trevor appeared beside me, his voice breaking through the quiet hum of the workshop."Valerie, it's past your working shift," he said gently. "It's time for you to go home."I smiled at him, shaking my head slightly. "It's fine, Trevor," I replied, my voice soft with reassurance. "I just want to finish up here."Trevor approached me, leaning against the side of the car I was fixing. "Are you waiting for Tyler to come back?" he asked, his eyes searching mine for answers.I placed the tools I was holding on the workbench and let out a sigh. "Yeah," I admitted, my voice tinged with worry. "I just want to make sure he's okay after everything that's happened."I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over me ever since Tyler's outburst earlier. Between his suspension, the news of his father getting married to Liam's mother, it felt like Tyler w
Valerie Hernandez"Tyler! Liam! Stop!" I screamed their name hoping for the fight to stop but it is no use. My voice drowned with the shouting and cheering from the students who gather at the parking lot to witness a fight."Both of you stop!" I tried once again but it is no use. None of them could hear me over the roar of the crowd. The cheers and shouts are getting louder. But amidst the chaos, I could only watch in horror as the fight escalated, my heart pounding in my chest. As the fight grew more serious, panic gripped me like a vice. I watched helplessly as Tyler and Liam continued to exchange blows, each one landing with sickening thuds. Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as I pleaded for them to stop, but my words fell on deaf ears.Just as I feared the worst, a teacher emerged from the school building, shouting for them to stop. The fight came to an abrupt halt as Tyler and Liam were pulled apart, their faces bruised and bloodied."You two, to the principal's office, now
Valerie HernandezThe next morning, I felt a wave of delight rush over me. Despite the lingering weight of yesterday's events, there was a warmth in my chest as I recalled the laughter and camaraderie shared with Tyler. But the memory of him betting on me soured the sweetness, reminding me of the reckless gamble he had made with my safety. Since he apologize, it is all in the past now and what happened had happened. Luckily, my parents are a deep sleeper so last night as I sneaked in, it was safe to say, for now.I glanced at the clock beside my bed, with a quick stretch, I threw back the covers and swung my legs over the edge of the bed, ready to face the day ahead. After a quick shower and a change of clothes, I made my way downstairs to the kitchen, the scent of freshly cooked pancakes wafting through the air. My dad was at the stove, flipping pancakes with practiced ease, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he caught sight of me."Morning, sweetheart," he greeted m
Tyler WilliamsI watched as Valerie walked away, her back stiff with anger. Winning the race had been exhilarating, but the argument with Valerie had left a bitter taste in my mouth. I knew that my actions hadn't portrayed me as a winner, not in her eyes at least.Valerie had made a good point earlier. What if I hadn't won? What would have happened to her? It wasn't like I had wanted to bet on her in the first place, but illegal street races were rough, and you had to follow the rules, no matter how unfair they seemed.I knew that I had messed up."You okay man?" Ryan asked as he saw Valerie leaving. I shrugged my shoulders, letting out a heavy sigh. "Not great," I admitted, running a hand through my hair. "Valerie has every right to be mad at me."Ryan nodded in understanding; his expression somber. "Yeah, anyone would feel the same way if they were in her shoes," he agreed, his tone sympathetic.Trevor chimed in, his voice firm but gentle. "You need to apologize to her, Tyler," he s
Valerie HernandezAs the race was set and the crowd erupted in excitement, I felt a knot of anxiety tighten in my chest. The stakes had never been higher, and the thought of me being used as a bet in Ricky's twisted game made my blood boil. What I did not expect was Tyler agreeing to it.Before the race could start, I grabbed Tyler's arm and pulled him aside, my voice filled with frustration. "Why did you agree to bet me, Tyler?" I demanded, my tone sharp with accusation.Tyler sighed heavily, his expression pained as he met my gaze. "It's the only way, Val," he explained, his voice tinged with regret. "If I don't agree, Ricky will take my car and besides, it's the rules."I shook my head in disbelief, unable to comprehend how Tyler could have made such a reckless decision. "I can't believe you would risk everything like this," I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper. But before I could say more, Jae and Ryan approached us, their expressions tense with anticipation. "Tyler, the ra
I paced restlessly around my room, the weight of anticipation settling heavily on my shoulders. Through the window, I could see the faint glow of lights illuminated from Tyler's room. It seemed he was still awake, just as I suspected. With a deep breath, I glanced down at my outfit, making sure everything was in place. I had come prepared, dressed in jeans, a white tank top, and a denim jacket, paired with sturdy black boots.I sat on the edge of my bed, anxiously checking the time every few minutes. Fifteen agonizing minutes passed before the lights in Tyler's room finally flickered off. It was my cue to make my move. With careful precision, I tiptoed down the stairs, doing my best to avoid any creaks that might wake my parents. As I reached the front door, I hesitated for a moment, my heart pounding in my chest. But I couldn't let fear hold me back now. Steeling myself, I pushed open the door and stepped out into the cool night air.I made my way swiftly to Tyler's house, my footste
