“Your only duty is to not let my son out of your sight.” Said Damian, in Cassie’s ear. Glaring at her.
“Not let him—” Cassie turned to where Blake threw the juice box. And looked around.
“Seems like you have somewhere to be, don’t you?” Said Damian, behind Cassie’s back, looming over her.
“Yes, sir.” Said Cassie. Damian saw Cassie’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
Damian followed Cassie to the entrance of the mansion, but was careful not to make Cassie look at him.
Cassie had gotten out of the mansion, with Damian following her, “Blake?” Shouted Cassie, with both hands each in one corner of her mouth.
“Get off of me!” Shouted Blake, just like they had agreed.
Damian saw how Cassie’s head snapped towards the sound.
“Help! Somebody help me!” Shouted Blake, when the people Damian had hired, grabbed Blake by the arms and hair, to put him in the van with black tinted windows.
“Blakey!” Shouted Cassie, running towards the van, “STOP!” She yelled, but it was of no use, the van had already taken off.
Damian was low key, happy to see Cassie so distressed, but he remembered he had a test to make, so when Cassie turned to look at him, he put on his best worried-while-glaring face.
Cassie took her hair tie off to reveal her long red-hair. She passed both hands through it and tied it again, “shit, shit, shit, shit.” She said, looking frustrated.
Damian ran to her, “What the hell happened?” He asked, glaring at her. He was a great actor, not a liar.
Cassie didn’t glare back, “Masked kidnappers, they took Blakey from the drive—”
“Then go after him.” Said Damian, grabbing her arm tightly.
Cassie yanked her arm from his hands, “I am.” She said, this time, glaring at him.
She grabbed her black backpack with her computer, “Get me the car keys.”
“Jordan will take you.” Said Damian, looking at Jordan, and giving him a slight nod, giving him “the” nod.
Cassie didn’t notice, thankfully.
“Another kidnapping, boss?!” Jordan said, while running to them.
“We’ll find them,” Said Cassie, entering the car, “In the meantime, call the police.” She said with the most serious face possible.
“If you do your job I won’t have to.” He said, leaning against the car door frame, inches away from her face. Then he slammed the car door in her face.
Now let’s hope everything goes smoothly. Damian thought, calling the kidnappers he hired.
Meanwhile…
The car had taken a violent turn, screeching the tires.
“Where to?” Jordan asked,
Cassie was with her laptop looking for the directions, “Right, then keep straight until I find out where they went.” She continued typing.
Cassie opened the hacking program she had bought and searched the plate number. 411 . NBE said the plate.
“What’re you doing?” Asked Jordan, looking at the road and then Cassie.
Cassie kept typing, “Tracking the license plate,” She kept typing, “The most recent hit is one minute ago. The van isn’t too far from here”
“Makes it easy for us.” Said Jordan, looking at Cassie in the small mirror next to him.
“Almost too easy,” said Cassie, still typing, “It might be a trap.”
She changed the screen to where the van stopped, “Turn left here. Then right in two lights.” She said to Jordan.
She kept making clicking sounds, she kept typing.
“What are you doing now?” Asked Jordan.
“Hacking into the closest cell towers.” A white screen with green towers popped in her screen, “I want to see how many IMSI pings are from that building.” She kept typing.
“And I’ll pretend to know what that means.” Said Jordan, moving one hand to accommodate the seat.
“Three phones in the building.” Said Cassie, looking it up on her laptop.
“What?” Asked Jordan, looking at her.
“There are three phones in the building where the van is parked.” Explained Cassie, but this time she stopped typing.
“We’re here.” Said Jordan, parking at a safe place, careful not to be seen.
Cassie closed her laptop and got out of the car, “Pull around to the front of the building and wait for me there.” She said looking at Jordan.
“Whatever you say, little lady.” Said Jordan, giving a thumbs up while putting his right hand behind the co-pilot seat.
Cassie walked fast but was careful not to make any mistakes.
Personal security type… professional. Thought Cassie, while looking at the big bald guy. And no gun… unusual. She thought.
“Well, but what do we have here?” Said the bald guy. Raising his head, in an attempt to look more tough.
“I’ll warn you once,” said Cassie, walking to the bald guy, with a bored face, “I’m well trained. Now, open the door.”
“Can’t do that.” Shrugged the bald guy.
“Don’t say I didn’t ask nicely, then.” Said Cassie, before punching the guy in the gut with her elbow.
The bald guy fell on his knees and Cassie took this opportunity to punch the guy in his balls, then his nose, then his head with her hands. The bald guy ended up knocked out.
Cassie opened the door, and walked through the kitchen, and grabbed one of the heaviest cake molds there were, and looked over the round shaped window of the other kitchen door.
She saw how two people, a woman and a man, had Blake tied to a chair, and made him answer their questions.
Cassie swung open the door glaring at the two people. She came in peace, but seeing as the two of them shifted into a combat position, she guessed they wanted to fight. So she gave them that.
Cassie lunged at them and the man tried to punch her, she dodged it with the cake mold, and that made the man’s hand hit the mold, “argh!” He said.
She kicked, aiming at the woman, but at that moment the man had gotten up, so Cassie ended up kicking the man across the face, and the man fell over the woman, blocking the woman’s way out. Cassie grabbed the cake mold and hit the woman in the head with it.
Cassie killed two birds with one stone. Well, more like beat the shit out of them.
Cassie ran to Blake, who was tied with a rope, and grabbed him.
“Is it over yet?” Asked Blake, with a tired voice.
“Almost.” She sprinted to the car, where Jordan was waiting.
Cassie opened the car door and pushed Blake to the other side, because Blake was still tied with a thick rope.
“You made it!” Exclaimed Jordan. Looking at Blake and Cassie, passing her a pair of thick scissors.
Cassie grabbed them and cut the rope Blake was tied with.
“Are you hurt?” Cassie asked, looking at Blake. Blake was looking at his legs, not looking at anyone.
“No.” Said Blake.
“Did they scare you?” Asked Cassie, still looking at Blake.
“No.” He said.
Cassie opened her mouth but closed it.
She remembered when she also had gotten kidnapped the day before her fifth birthday, and somehow, she sympathized with Blake. Maybe that’s why she hugged him.
“Everything is okay now. Don’t worry. I’m here with you," said Cassie, hugging Blake, “You’re safe now.”
Jordan made a heavy sigh, “See, now I just feel like a jerk.”
Cassie flinched and hugged Blake even tighter, stiffening her body.
Jordan grabbed a gun and pointed Cassie with it, “I’m going to need you to get out of the car.” He glared, and the gun cucked, "Now."
Jordan grabbed a gun and pointed Cassie with it, “I’m going to need you to get out of the car.” He glared, pointing at her with the gun, clicking.“What?”Cassie’s eyes widened, hugging Blake tighter while looking at Jordan with concern.“Get out. Of the car,” said Jordan, gesturing to her, with the gun, to get out, “leave the kid… and you can take this case with 2 million dollars in it.” He added, showing Cassie a brown portfolio.“You’re with the kidnappers?” Said Cassie, putting Blake out of her lap to put an arm in front of him. While glaring at Jordan.“You mean those thugs Damian hired to test you?” He aske
"But what they don't include is.." he took off his golden cross necklace, and placed it on his palm, "That my sister was murdered,'' said Damian, looking directly into Cassie's eyes.Damian now tucked his golden cross beneath his unbuttoned white shirt. "Samantha was consuming poison unknowingly 2 months before giving birth to Blake. Blake didn’t kill her, other people did. Samantha was murdered.”At the mention of his mom’s name, Blake flinched and made a soft sound while avoiding looking at anyone. Including Cassie.Cassie stopped looking at Damian, and glanced towards Blake, while asking, “Are you sure this is the right place for this… conversation?”Damian understood what she meant and looked at his nephew, while tappi
Cassie knocked twice, before Damian said, “Enter.”She hesitated for a moment before entering. But when she gained the courage to enter, she took a deep breath, passed a hand, carefully, through her bun-tied red-hair, and opened the door.Cassie entered and saw that there was a leather sofa with a fur rug over the back and an Indian blanket draped over the arm. The far wall has a large fireplace and mantle dominating the center, with bookshelves lining it on either side. On the mantle, he had two antique clocks and a painting of three jazz musicians. There was a television on the shelf to the right. In front of that shelf is an upright piano and bench in dark walnut. Hanging on the wall above the piano is an abstract painting of jazz musicians. There is a double door between his desk and the piano w
“You’ll wish you’d died protecting him.” he whispered into Cassie’s ear. This made Cassie’s heart race, Ba-thump, Ba-thump, Ba-thump. And NOT in a good way. What have I done? She shut her eyes, and felt her fingers tremble. If a Mafia Boss would say that, then I don’t know what’ll happen to me the next time I try to confront him. Cassie . Damian went silent, and Cassie felt his eyes on her. “Make yourself at home.” Was all he said before leaving Cassie alone.… Cassie sat on her bed with her laptop, writing in her journal. He meant it, She wrote, His eyes said it all. That man… he wouldn’t hesitate to kill me slowly. Cassie wrote all of the emotions she felt during the conversation with Damian. … “I can take those.” said Cassie to Jordan when she saw him walking down the corridor with her luggage. She had gone downstairs so she could grab some cold juice or something that would make her cool down after the… incident in Damian's office. Jo
15 years agoIt was late at night, and Cassie was in her room balcony, with her long red-hair in a cute braid, with a party dress on. Looking down to the guests that were arriving at her mansion to celebrate Cassie’s seventh birthday. Cassie used to think that the world was magic. That her life was one long party that never ended. She used to think her parents gave her everything. She never asked where it came from, though. She loved her family dearly. She loved how she had gotten the same red-hair as her dad and jade-green eyes like her mom. She adored them so much… she couldn’t see who they really were. Until it was too late. Her parents had enemies. Or maybe … they were SOMEONE ELSE’S enemies. “Donna, get Cassie out of here.” Said Cassie’s dad, grabbing a pistol out of his pocket and giving Cassie’s mom another pistol he had gotten out of his other pocket. “Yes, sir.” Said Cassie’s nanny, Amira, AKA Donna, grabbing Cassie by her hands. “Wait!” Said Cassie, trying to break fr
“This is a dangerous proposal, Mr. Ricci,” said the Headmistress of ESNA, at her desk. Looking at Damian. “With this salary, we could provide you one of our top performers, with over a decade of experience—”“No,” said Damian, cutting her short. “I require exclusivity,” he straightened his black jacket and crossed his legs, “I want someone who’s never worked with anyone else before.” “I see,” said the Headmistress, looking in one of her drawers. She took out all the files with a list of all the candidates, “These are our most recent graduates.” She said, spreading the papers on the table for Damian to see. “All awaiting their first assignment.”Damian bent down to look at the candidates, but all he saw was young women who looked like they didn't even know what the world was outside of this secret academy. Damian passed a hand through his dark-blonde hair and made a hard sigh. He put his index finger on his forehead and the thumb on his chin, “And they’re all … Qualified?” He asked,
"Come, my darling." Said a voice tenderly. Cassie noticed it was her mom. She looked like nothing had happened at all. Her mother was alive and Cassie ran towards her to hug her, but as soon as she touched her, she disappeared. Cassie stared where her mom was, then looked at her hands, and collapsed to the floor. She now was in the last place where she saw her parents alive, before getting killed. The thing is, she was no longer a child. She was an adult but with the body of a seven-year-old. And she saw people running and screaming, but no one noticed her. The place was burning, but she was not. People were dying, but she wasn’t.Then someone with gray hair and blue eyes comes in front of her and looks behind her. Cassie turns, just to see her parents. The man lunged at her parents and stabbed a dagger in Cassie's mom's stomach, she then spat blood. Cassie's dad grabbed her mom and cried frantically. He then fought the man and stabbed him, but a bullet pierced his chest, making h
Cassie saw that her new employer was tall. Cassie was five foot seven but the man still towered over her. She remembered his name, Damian. He had sapphire-blue eyes, that Cassie felt she was getting sucked into. Damian had broad shoulders and long arms, not to mention fingers. Damian Ricci was wearing a black suit, with the first three buttons of his shirt opened, he was wearing a gold cross necklace, and with his dark-blonde hair pulled back. When Amira finished introducing them both, Cassie stared into Damian’s eyes. So this is him, Cassie thought, the Mafia Boss and Damian Ricci is…Cassie could see that one of Damian’s mouth corners twitched, and that he was fighting not to smile, “Can she speak?” Asked Damian to the Headmistress. Is a total complete jerk. Thought Cassie.”Forgive me, Mr. Ricci,” said Cassie, trying to force a sweet smile, “I’m Cassie Oakley,” she said, extending her hand for him to shake, “I look forward to working with you.”“Who wouldn’t?” Said Damian, smirki
