SERENA'S POV

“What’s that?” I asked, trying not to give out the fact that I was a bit anxious that she could be suspecting that I had a crush on Lucas.

It would be so embarrassing for her to know as well.

“Are you sure you’re telling me what you really felt? You know, I feel it’s going to be more than the reason you just told me about, now.” Mara spoke as she rubbed her chin with her fingers.

“I see. Well, there is nothing more to it.” I defended myself, and suddenly, I just felt the need to be alone.

The pain of finding out that Lucas was engaged, got me feeling really sad, and all I wanted, was just to stay on my own.

“By the way, I don’t want you to miss out on anything. You can go back to the party; I’ll like to have some rest. Been a long day, and we both know that.” I spoke, and tried my best to bring up a smile.

“Hmm. Are you sure about that? I really don’t have anything to do downstairs, anymore. If you want me to spend time with you, I can.” Mara said, trying to obviously mak

Chapter 41ELIJAH’S POVThe party actually turned out well, and those I hadn’t seen in a while, came, which also resulted in a nice and productive communication. More like it’s been a while since we all felt this alive. Everyone had gone home, and the mansion seemed too big for just us who were originally living in it. I took one last gulp of my drink, and then made to go out of the living room when I saw Eliana.“Long time, my friend.” She said, with a smile on her face.“I thought you had already gone back home.”“Not yet. I decided to stay back because I wanted to see you.” She spoke, and then I sighed.“You want to see me?” I repeated, wondering why she would want to see me, especially after the party ended. But then, I decided to see her, to know what she could have to say. We both headed out to the garden, and then she exhaled like she felt relieved to be here.“We’re staying the night, since It’s already too late. But we’ll be leaving in the morning.”“I see. So, why do you wa

SERENA'S POVI took out my phone, and looked at myself. It was stupid, but I needed to see if I bore any kind of resemblance to Lucas. Maybe the documents had been the ones Alpha Vincent had signed to engage Lucas and his daughter whom I hated to admit was exceptionally beautiful and gracious in every way. However, I shook my head, and walked on. There was no way we could be relatives, could there? Then, I sighed. “Serena, that's the least of your problems right now. What are we going to do about what we feel for him?” If he was going to get engaged, then…What about me? Would I be forced to smile at his wedding? And when he gave birth to his kids, would I have to love them, hold them, and be nice to them?I got back home, in an even more sour mood, but happened to run into Lucas in the hallway close to my room. When he saw me, he strode over to me, and surprisingly wrapped me in a hug. My heart began to beat crazily like it wanted to split itself open against the ribcage of my chest

  • The Nameless Luna   Mission

SERENA'S POV. My feet slapped the marble floors harshly, as I made my way to my room hastily, tears blinding my eyes. I didn't want anyone to stop me— didn't want anyone to see me with such tears in my eyes. There was no way I would explain to them my sorrow and pain. They wouldn't understand. How could Lucas call me just so I could see him and Eliana together? Could he actually be doing it on purpose? Did he sense that I felt something for him? Was that why he wanted to show Eliana to me? It was unfair. He couldn't just treat me like that. It was stupid, and thoughtless of him to call me for that. Once I was in my room, I went straight to my wardrobe, throwing it open. With anger, I packed all that my hands could get a hold of, and threw them onto the bed, before returning to pack the rest.“We don't have to stay.” I said, as a way of instilling confidence into myself, as I ripped open a large traveling bag, pouring all the clothes into it. What use would I be when Lucas finally

SERENA'S POV. “A mission?” I asked, swallowing. Something about it just didn't sound right. It didn't. Maybe it was the way he said it, or the chilling look in his eyes as he said it. It all made me feel very unnerved. “A mission.” He repeated. “What mission is that? Is it something I can do? Something anyone can do? What exactly is it?”He continued to regard me with those soulless eyes. I couldn't even appreciate his beauty because of the aura he carried aronnd. It commanded fear. “Eliminate someone.” he finally replied “Eli… what? I should do what?”What was he saying? Eliminate as in murder?“I will not be repeating my words.” He droned icily. “You want me to kill someone. I'm… I'm not an henchman. I've never killed before, and I certainly do not want to do that. Why would I kill someone who did not offend me in any way. Why would I get blood on my hands?”“If the person offended you, will you kill them?”“No! I can't even harm a rabbit. Not to talk of a person. Why would I

  • The Nameless Luna   Five Doors

SERENA'S POV. I walked faster, hoping to emerge from some glorious place that would lead me into paradise. I'd find a way to send word to Lucas, and ensure that he knew of the Alpha's plans to murder me. Hope lit in my chest, and I increased my pace, only to stumble on something hard, and fall with a grunt that echoed all around. The candle went off.“No, no, no…” I whispered, and looked up, only to find the light I had seen completely gone. How come? I had definitely seen light signifying that I was approaching the end of the tunnel. But then…“Shit.”It was probably something that reflected the light of my candle. Maybe silver or glass because that was the only explanation for everywhere being thrown into darkness.I got up, sneezing and feeling the soft dust on my arms, and felt around for the lighter. Taking it from the dress pocket, I put the candle and looked around. There were brackets with no torches in them. Instead, I fixed the candles one after the other into the bracke

SERENA'S POV. Fear rippled through me like the waves on the sea, and I began to run in the dark, adrenaline rushing through me, and filling my brain with danger signs. My heart seemed to beat in my throat, wanting to burst out, and finally, I stumbled.“Ah!” I screamed from the pain and the fear that I would suddenly feel something heavy and menacing land on my back. Gasping, I struggled to get to my feet, then realized I had stumbled on the staircase. With relief mingled with terror, I began to climb, using my hands and legs. I got to the very top, and pushed… “Ah…” I cried as the floorboard came open, revealing light. Immediately, I hoisted myself onto it, and tumbled into the room, hurriedly sealing the floorboard shut. Why wasn't there some kind of lock to it? What if the creature came bounding up the stairs in search of me, and leaped against the floorboard? What would happen when I was locked in the room when it came?A new wave of dread filled me up. • The Nameless Luna   Ah...... Sweet Home

SERENA'S POV. My hands and legs flailed helplessly, as the water joined hands with the force of gravity to pull me down. Water got into my nose, mouth, and ears, and it was a very horribl feeling as I plummeted downwards, unable to even scream, unable to cough, unable to choke, just getting rained down by the powerful water. My hands fought to grab anything I could find, just anything as my heart seemed to want to tear right out of my chest. But all that happened was my hands sailing right through the water, unable to grab anything. The fear suddenly seemed like a real creature threatening to devour me alive. It was a force on its own, and it felt like I'd die of the fear before the rocks got to me.Finally I crashed into the dark water, plunging deep with the speed at which I had been falling, I felt my whole body freeze. It was damn cold! The feeling left my fingers and toes, and they felt numb, so numb that I couldn't begin to differentiate my index from my middle finger. The

Go inform the Alpha.” One of them who spoke, instructed the other. The others held me, and led me in.I felt loved, and cared for, but it made me remember that Lucas would be really angry, and when he came out, I didn’t know what he was going to say to me.In fact, not just him, but everyone. What they would tell to me. Mara would have been so disappointed in me as I left without confiding her, and leaving her to be there for me.“Serena!” She called out to me, and ran towards me, then hugged me tight.I began to cry as I never expected her to act that way to me. I had thought that she was going to sneer at me, and leave in anger.“Where did you go to? I know you left. No one knows that, but me, and now that you’re back, every

Elijah's POVMy body was numb, my chest burning with every shallow breath. I thought this was it. Maybe I deserved it. I stirred slowly from my slumber, feeling anything but refreshed. Exhaustion pressed down on me like an unrelenting fog, thick and suffocating. A strange tiredness pulled at me, beckoning me back to the comforting depths of sleep. With a heavy sigh, I turned over, letting the darkness claim me again. It was easier to face the dreamscape than the misery I called life.Distant murmurs began to slip into my consciousness, faint and far away, like whispers traveling through walls."Who is he?" someone whispered, their voice low but filled with curiosity. "Alpha Elijah?""Why did the Alpha Lucas bring him back? Didn't he betray us?"I blinked, my eyelids heavy and my vision blurred as I tried to focus. Shadows moved around me, but nothing came into clarity. My body refused to cooperate, and the pull of sleep was too strong. I let it take me again, the voices fading into t

Elijah's POVAfter watching Lucas go off to find Serena, i moved closer to Vincent. "We should deploy explosives at crescent grove to avoid Lucas taking her back inside where it's heavily guarded." "That is a brilliant idea." he praised before leaving my side to pass on his order. After ony a few minutes, the explosions rang out, blood stained the ground, and the cries of wolves echoed through the air. Suddenly i realised that one of those fools had actually sent one right at Serena. I quickened my pace as i tried to get to her, but Lucas got to her first and ended up hurt too in the process. My eyes fell on Lucas and Serena, lying motionless on the ground where the explosion had thrown them.I could hear both their breathings and so i felt slightly relieved. Some of Lucas warriors rushed to them. shielding their bodies from incoming attacks. Others carried the injured away, their faces grim and streaked with sweat and blood.Vincent mst've also seen their unconscious bodies as he su

  • The Nameless Luna   Friend

LUCAS' POV The battlefield was chaos. The air smelled of blood, sweat, and the metallic tang of fear. Screams, growls, and the clash of weapons drowned out every other sound. The Crescent Grove Pack was holding its ground, but barely.I stood in the center of the fray, my wolf straining to take control as I fought beside my warriors and allies. The humans were scattered around us, their rifles doing less damage than we’d hoped. The Bloodhounds were brutal, tearing through everything in their path with an animalistic hunger that even the strongest of us struggled to match.“Gamma!” I yelled over the noise, spotting Gavin locked in a brutal fight with two Bloodhounds. His claws were coated in blood, his face twisted in a snarl.“I’ve got it!” he roared back, ripping through the neck of one opponent before launching himself at the other.I spun around, looking for the next threat, only to see one of our humans fall, his body limp and lifeless.“Pull back!” I shouted to the human soldier

I bolted upright almost immediately."What the hell?" I cursed. Another boom followed, this time closer. From the noises outside I could tell it was time for the main deal, it wasn't just Elijah's pack out there but other packs too. That's why the spy had suddenly gone out last night, he knew they'd attack today.A frown formed on my face as I rushed to put on my shirt. I paused midway with the top still over my head and looked at Serena whose eyes were on fixed on me with worry and guilt. "Just a sec," I said as I turned back to the door, opening it slightly I said, "Go to Beta Liam and ask that he get the army ready. I will be with you all soon." The wolf warrior after hearing my orders, nodded and walked away as fast as possible."Attack?" Serena mumbled, looking slightly conscious. "Blood Hound and Silver moo

LUCAS' POV I was on the floor, slumped against the wall, her head resting on her knees. Tear stains marked the corners of her eyes, her breathing uneven, like she’d cried herself to exhaustion. My chest ached at the sight.I crouched down beside her, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Serena, wake up,” I said softly, but she didn’t stir, even a little bit.Her face looked pale, her eyes puffy. Whatever she’d been going through, it had pushed her past her limits and her body mustv'e responded to it.“Damn it, Serena,” I muttered under my breath as I slid an arm under her legs and another around her back, lifting her easily. She felt so light, too light. She didn’t wake as I carried her to the bed. Her head lolled against my chest, her breathing was faint but it didn't sound like she was having difficulties breathing.I laid her down gently, pulling the blankets over her. The tear stains on her cheeks hadn’t dried yet, and it made me pause. I wanted to fix whatever had caused th

  • The Nameless Luna   Thanks, Mom

SERENA’S POVThe rest of the day felt empty, tense and uncomfortable but mostly empty. I tried to keep busy, but my thoughts kept circling back to Lucas and the argument we had. It wasn’t that I was angry with him—I wasn’t. I was just... worried. Worried about him, about the pack, about everything.Everyone around the pack house felt the same. The tension was thick, like a storm brewing that no one could stop. I hated it. I hated the way it made my chest feel tight, the way it made everyone so distant from each other. The pack house has literally nver been this quiet.By the time the sun started dipping below the horizon, I was sitting on my bed, staring at the wall, doing absolutely nothing. My arms rested on my knees, and my fingers twisted the edge of the blanket over and over.A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts and i raised my head to gaze at the door.“Serena? It’s me,” my mother’s voice came softly from the other side.I sighed. “Come in.”The door creaked open, and

SERENA’S POVBreakfast felt tense, the kind of tense that made the air heavy and hard to breathe. Lucas sat across from me, his shoulders stiff, his eyes dark as he cut into his toast. The clink of the knife against the plate grated on my nerves. I wasn’t even sure why I was so jittery this morning. Maybe it was the silence. Or maybe it was everything else. It wasn't just me, but literally every one in the pack house were on edge. All stares on me.I shifted in my seat, poking at the eggs on my plate. My stomach churned too much to eat. My mind replayed the sudden attack on the pack, the blood on Lucas and the screams I could hear even though I was in the underground escape. I hated this. All of it. The war. The endless fighting. So many people died yesterday. All because of me.Warriors lost their lives. A mother lost her child, a child lost it's father, a man and female lost their brother and a wife lost her mate. It was all too unfair to everyone. War doesn't always have to be the

I would’ve remembered something that important.”“I swear I told you,” I said defensively, crossing my own arms.“You didn’t.”“I did!”“When?”The argument went on for a few more seconds before I sighed, realizing I couldn’t actually remember. “Okay, maybe I forgot,” I admitted, feeling sheepish. She shook her head dramatically. “You forgot? Serena, that’s not something you forget! That’s life-changing!”I was about to respond when the door to the escape creaked open, and the Beta stepped inside. His face was serious, but there was something lighter in his eyes.“The war is over,” he said simply. For a moment, I just stared at him, my heart racing. “It’s over?”“Yes,” he said with a nod. “You’re safe to come out now.”I didn’t wait for him to say anything else.
