SERENA’S POV

It was evening, and I had walked to the garden, waiting for Lucas to come over. I was a little anxious over what he was going to say or do, when he set his eyes on me, but I just hoped less for the worst.

While sitting, I stared at the bright moon, and sighed.

Recalling the way Lady Pearl had spoken, it was evident that she might have liked me as an individual, but not as a choice for her son, Lucas.

I let out a deep sigh as I fiddled with my fingers, beginning to feel a little cold.

Suddenly, I felt a presence around me. It made me feel adrenaline rush through my veins, and I felt a little overwhelmed by the strength I sensed in his aura.

“Sorry if I kept you waiting.” Lucas said as he joined me on the bench, then he placed a blanket over me. “Figured out that you might need it.”

I turned to him sharply, with tears threatening to fall from my eyes.

“Why are you acting with so much care, towards me, when you are engaged?” I questioned, staring into his eyes, with anger i

ELIANA’S POVI smiled widely, and followed her into her home, eager to see what it looked like, and to know how I was going to make use of it.We both walked into her living room, and I watched as she brought out a bottle of special wine, and placed it on the table.“Wine? What’s this for?” I asked, out of curiosity.“This is a special wine, which most men love. Even the scent can sometimes be irresistible, because it makes them feel like men. Also, this wine was drunk a lot years back, by Alpha Kings who had won victories, or they wanted to feel high on bed.”“Alright….? So, how is it going to help my situation?” I asked, impatient to hear what solution she had cooked up with it, because this obviously can’t be enough to get Lucas to be mine.“Be patient, miss. You should know I can’t let you down. At least, to get him to drink, it has to be something which would allure him to have a taste.”“Hmm. I see. You’re right.” I uttered, with a smirk, and looked closely at what she was about

SERENA’S POVIn anxiousness, I looked at Elijah and he patted my back.“Don't worry you'll be fine.” He assured me and I gulped down my saliva.I nodded my head, and then followed after Lady Pearl who was heading to her room.Whatever she had to say, I had to take it on, without feeling bad; after all, I had to be strong and also, I wasnt going to put my mind having Lucas, so she didn't have to say so many hurtful words to me.On getting to her room, I met her sitting on the bed, and looking at the mirror.“I know what love is. Do not think I have no idea of it. But at the same time, I recognize deals, and I love to keep promises, also keeping the family's legacy. Even if it isn't you who have this tangled relationship with Lucas, I'm going to ensure I do what I have to, to make sure things go the way it ought to.” Lady Pearl spoke, calmly. Then she looked towards me, and this time, with a calm expression, one filled with warmth.“I do not hate you, Serena. SERENA’S POVWhile I was in my room, trying to make sense of what I had noticed between Lucas and Eliana, I held my phone tight, continuously tapping on it, then I dropped it on the bed.I rose to my feet, and opened my wardrobe. It was time I cleaned it up and arrange it myself, just to get my mind off unhealthy things.I began to hum softly while packing out the clothes, and when they were all out of my wardrobe, I began to fold them, then placed them nicely in my wardrobe.~About an hour had passed before I finished up, and then I closed the wardrobe. Just as I closed the wardrobe, my door barged open, and Mara dashed in, looking worried.“Serena! Are you okay? What’s going on?”Just as she asked, Elijah and Lucas also dashed in, as well.“What happened, Serena!” They both questioned, and moved closer to me.I looked at the three of them, with a baffled expression.“I’m fine. Can anyone explain to me what’s going on?” I asked, completely clueless on what exactly was going on.“We

Chapter 55SERENA'S POV. Immediately as the sun set, I prepared myself to meet Lucas, completely curious about why he had asked to meet me, despite all that was going on. The grass rustled under my feet, as I approached him, and he switched his gaze to me.I sighed, and moved closer to him. “You asked to meet me.” I said, and he got to his feet, towering over me. The look in his eyes was a little distant, but I refused to be intimidated. “Yes, I did. I have some questions for you.”“Questions? I asked, starting to feel weird. Why would he have questions for me? Questions? What answers could I possibly give?“Have you ever turned, completely?” he asked, and there was a tiny hint of desperation in his voice.“This is all coming unexpectedly. Why are you asking, all of a sudden?”“I just asked you a question, Serena. And you should give me an answer.”“I really do not understand. He's a strong man; he’ll bounce back in no time.” Elijah assured me.“Alright then. Talk to you later.” I uttered, and then we ended the call.“Alpha, I hope everything is fine?” Liam asked, with eyes, filled with concern.“Yes. You can also bring back one of the meetings which we canceled, back at the car. Or did you cancel them, right away?”“Uhm… yes, I did.” Liam responded, lowering his eyes like he hoped I wouldn't pounce on him.It wasn't his fault anyways. I was scared to death! Why didn’t you say you were the one? Or were you the one who was growling, and walking around the dungeon?” I asked, realizing I had a lot of questions at the same time.“Those questions do not need answers. You shouldn’t have come out here, without an unauthorized permission.” Lucas said to me, then helped me up.“I know. I was just…”“Curious.”I looked up at him, and sighed.“I know. Elijah's POVMy body was numb, my chest burning with every shallow breath. I thought this was it. Maybe I deserved it. I stirred slowly from my slumber, feeling anything but refreshed. Exhaustion pressed down on me like an unrelenting fog, thick and suffocating. A strange tiredness pulled at me, beckoning me back to the comforting depths of sleep. With a heavy sigh, I turned over, letting the darkness claim me again. It was easier to face the dreamscape than the misery I called life.Distant murmurs began to slip into my consciousness, faint and far away, like whispers traveling through walls."Who is he?" someone whispered, their voice low but filled with curiosity. "Alpha Elijah?""Why did the Alpha Lucas bring him back? Didn't he betray us?"I blinked, my eyelids heavy and my vision blurred as I tried to focus. Shadows moved around me, but nothing came into clarity. My body refused to cooperate, and the pull of sleep was too strong. I let it take me again, the voices fading into t

After ony a few minutes, the explosions rang out, blood stained the ground, and the cries of wolves echoed through the air. Suddenly i realised that one of those fools had actually sent one right at Serena. I quickened my pace as i tried to get to her, but Lucas got to her first and ended up hurt too in the process. My eyes fell on Lucas and Serena, lying motionless on the ground where the explosion had thrown them.I could hear both their breathings and so i felt slightly relieved. Some of Lucas warriors rushed to them. shielding their bodies from incoming attacks. • The Nameless Luna   Friend

LUCAS' POV The battlefield was chaos. The air smelled of blood, sweat, and the metallic tang of fear. Screams, growls, and the clash of weapons drowned out every other sound. The Crescent Grove Pack was holding its ground, but barely.I stood in the center of the fray, my wolf straining to take control as I fought beside my warriors and allies. The humans were scattered around us, their rifles doing less damage than we’d hoped. The Bloodhounds were brutal, tearing through everything in their path with an animalistic hunger that even the strongest of us struggled to match.“Gamma!” I yelled over the noise, spotting Gavin locked in a brutal fight with two Bloodhounds. His claws were coated in blood, his face twisted in a snarl.“I’ve got it!” he roared back, ripping through the neck of one opponent before launching himself at the other.I spun around, looking for the next threat, only to see one of our humans fall, his body limp and lifeless.“Pull back!” I shouted to the human soldier

I bolted upright almost immediately."What the hell?" I cursed. Another boom followed, this time closer. From the noises outside I could tell it was time for the main deal, it wasn't just Elijah's pack out there but other packs too. That's why the spy had suddenly gone out last night, he knew they'd attack today.A frown formed on my face as I rushed to put on my shirt. I paused midway with the top still over my head and looked at Serena whose eyes were on fixed on me with worry and guilt. "Just a sec," I said as I turned back to the door, opening it slightly I said, "Go to Beta Liam and ask that he get the army ready. I will be with you all soon." The wolf warrior after hearing my orders, nodded and walked away as fast as possible."Attack?" Serena mumbled, looking slightly conscious. "Blood Hound and Silver moo

My chest ached at the sight.I crouched down beside her, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Serena, wake up,” I said softly, but she didn’t stir, even a little bit.Her face looked pale, her eyes puffy. Whatever she’d been going through, it had pushed her past her limits and her body mustv'e responded to it.“Damn it, Serena,” I muttered under my breath as I slid an arm under her legs and another around her back, lifting her easily. She felt so light, too light. She didn’t wake as I carried her to the bed. Her head lolled against my chest, her breathing was faint but it didn't sound like she was having difficulties breathing.I laid her down gently, pulling the blankets over her. The tear stains on her cheeks hadn’t dried yet, and it made me pause. I wanted to fix whatever had caused th

SERENA’S POVThe rest of the day felt empty, tense and uncomfortable but mostly empty. I tried to keep busy, but my thoughts kept circling back to Lucas and the argument we had. It wasn’t that I was angry with him—I wasn’t. I was just... worried. Worried about him, about the pack, about everything.Everyone around the pack house felt the same. The tension was thick, like a storm brewing that no one could stop. I hated it. I hated the way it made my chest feel tight, the way it made everyone so distant from each other. The pack house has literally nver been this quiet.By the time the sun started dipping below the horizon, I was sitting on my bed, staring at the wall, doing absolutely nothing. My arms rested on my knees, and my fingers twisted the edge of the blanket over and over.A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts and i raised my head to gaze at the door.“Serena? It’s me,” my mother’s voice came softly from the other side.I sighed. “Come in.”The door creaked open, and

SERENA’S POVBreakfast felt tense, the kind of tense that made the air heavy and hard to breathe. Lucas sat across from me, his shoulders stiff, his eyes dark as he cut into his toast. It wasn't just me, but literally every one in the pack house were on edge. All stares on me.I shifted in my seat, poking at the eggs on my plate. My stomach churned too much to eat. My mind replayed the sudden attack on the pack, the blood on Lucas and the screams I could hear even though I was in the underground escape. I hated this. All of it. The war. The endless fighting. So many people died yesterday. All because of me.Warriors lost their lives.
