Devon's POV
Did she break a bone? Oh, it could just be something else. I remembered that I had a packet of crackers in my backseat. Maybe she just crashed into them and they broke, making the crack sound so loud. I got out very quickly and I didn't need to inform the nurses to bring the stretcher closer before they die. The moment I opened the backseat, I noticed the way she laid on the floor of the car and I quickly carried her out and placed her on the stroller.
They began to roll her in and I handed my keys to a guard who stood at the entrance for him to park the car well. I grabbed my phone and ran after them. Susan was waiting in the ward with some other nurses, setting things up for a comfortable working on Olivia and I never felt more proud of her.
Once she noti
If there was one thing I hated above all in this world, it was unnecessary riddles.I stared at the phone in ny hand, wishing above all that I knew where the anonymous sender was at the moment. I wanted to bare my rage and anxiety at the person, but I was so restricted. All I could do was grip the phone hard. What had whoever it was meant by that message?I turned back to the door behind where Olivia was being operated on, and I saw the pack doctor standing there. The rubber gloves on his hands were stained with blood, and my heart ached knowing that it was my mate's blood. My beloved.I was so glad she was back to me, and yet something had broken inside of me when I'd seen her in that state. Something that would never be fixed.I felt like a monster for pushing her out to the streets. I didn't deserve her."Any new information?" I asked the man, swallowing past the lump of emotion in my throat."None yet," he said and paused. "She's in good hands, Alpha. You don't have to worry.""Ho
I sprang up from my position beside Olivia, then turned back to her as she gave a small gasp. I'd accidentally yanked her hand in the process."I'm sorry, my love. Go back to bed." I murmured in her ears and she relaxed into the pillows. I looked into her eyes, the fear in them mirroring the one I felt in my heart. Then I turned back to the guard."How did you find out about this?" I asked him."His troops are setting up camp on the north wall, alpha." The guard explained. "Our spies saw them this morning. The most recent report is that they hav spreaded their camp to the east and south walls."I frowned, a hand on my jaw. "My best guess is they want to trap us within our own border for a few days, maybe weeks, until we give up and engage them in battle. They want to coe
ALPHA DEVON POV "Damian, why am I just getting this information?". I asked Damian who stares at me a bit confused. " What do you mean by information, Alpha?". He asked. I turned to look at Olivia who also seemed curious. "Let's discuss this outside". I said to Damian who escorted me out if her ward. " Rodrigo. He has troops all around the park main entrance and I did not know about all this till now". I said to him. " I am also just hearing about this. He was planning on secret, he wants to attack unexpectedly." Damian said like I wasn't informed about all that. " I know and that why we need a quick plan to attack, I Know I am not in the right state to do anything but we don't have time on our side right now" I said to him. Susan was walking towards us slowly when I signaled to Damian to end the conversation. "Were you able to talk to her?". Susan asked. "Yes. Do you still want to check on her?". I asked. "Yes, she was really weak so I need to monitor her improvement, for a we
ALPHA DEVON POV I still couldn't process everything, was I suddenly more in love with her than she was with me. I thought she was always head over heels in love with me, it can't possibly be. Maybe she is just avoiding what her heart wants. She still won't say anything more to me. I decided to give her little space to think, when Candice walks in with her seductively smile which I was getting fed up. "Olivia. Oh my gosh, I can't believe you got into so much danger". Candice said to Olivia like she did not even notice my presence. "Thank you Candice". Olivia said to her when Candice clearly was sympathizing with her but instead mocking her. "Susan told me everything and how Devon found you on the road all drained from excess rain and sunlight. You must be careful Olivia, always making Devon rescue you us putting his reputation at stake". She said to Olivia who wasn't even smiling back at her. "Stop Candice, you can see that she is very weak and not in the mood to talk to anyone".
Olivia POV I can't get over how happy I was to find myself beside Devon again. But why do I feel like things would just keep getting worst for me in his palace. He came back to look for me and my father must not know about that. Why am I even worried, he couldn't find me how would he possibly find out. Devon had already left to have a discussion with Damian. And I was all by myself. I always wanted Devon to love me but not now, he was totally weak now and me being his weakness won't be good at all. Candice walks into my room seductively. What does she wants now. I don't know why she always around you. "You had so much guts the other time. What did you even mean by what you said earlier?". Candice asked sitting beside me like she was checking up on me. " Nothing" . I said to her avoiding her gaze. I don't know why someone like her could possibly be obsessed with Devon. "You are good at playing the pitiful girl. All this would have been better if you were just mute". She said to me
DEVON POV Why was Olivia being so doubtful about everything. I can swear I felt the energy in her change. But now she seems to be slipping off again. That shouldn't happen. I need her to be strong, that is why she is here again, to overcome those people who doubted her capabilities and if she wants to that she has to first overcome Candice, she is not supposed to let that woman get through to her. I need to have a few words with Candice also i want to know what she meant by paying her way to me. Is she even really skilled Medically or just follows Susan around. I stayed with Olivia through out the day till she finally took a nap. I had so many things to deal with and one of those things was Rodrigo sudden attack and making sure Brent doesnt get to his daughter. "Damian". I called,I knew he would be outside. And he walks in quickly. "Alpha," he replied. "Get the car ready I am taking Olivia home". I instructed. Damian looks at me a bit surprised. "But Susan hasn't given you a g
Alpha Devon pov I can't find a good reason why Brent would come here except him being totally crazy. I moved closer to him despite Damian holding my back. "You can't take her away from me". I whispered to him clearly making sure he heard my whispers. And I topped it all up with a smirk. "If I ever see you anywhere around this palace I would make sure you won't be able to work with your two feets". I warned about to turn around but his words stopped me. "Do you think she sees you the way you see her or do you think she would love you!!". He yelled making me look at him a bit surprised "What did you just say?". I asked still slowly moving closer to him. "Alpha stop" Damian whispered making me stop on my track. "Yes I said everything correctly, you love her. You love your slave!". He exclaimed. "Should I hate her?". I asked clearly trying to hide the truth away from everyone. I don't know how long I would be able to hide this feelings I have for Olivia mostly now that her father
DEVON POV I sat in the dining room staring at the clock on the wall. It seems like Olivia won't come down because she still feels guilty and nothing I can do would be able to change that. I stood up from my seat, feeling my anger slowly come back. "She can't just go to bed despite what I told her and all the assuring words I said to her". I said to myself, I wish there was someone I could share my thoughts with but aside Olivia there is no one else to talk to and mostly a person who would understand me. I was about to head to her room when Candice walked in with a devilish smile. "You are going to bed, that's perfect. I came at the right time". She said to me still trying to touch me but I held her hands up. "Not in the mood". I stuttered still staring up at the staircase for any signs of Olivia. "I wasn't doing anything, you make it sound like visiting you too has become a huge crime". She said, if she really wants to be on my good side she should at least stop coming her almos
Olivia's POVDawn took extremely too long to come and I guessed it was due to my over excitement for today. Noon did the same thing and when evening slowly approached, I was seated in front of the vanity mirror with Gabi, Susan and a couple other ladies beside me.Right now, I was surrounded by ladies I see in the pack, but do not know them and that I had barely associated with.It was all going to change when I finally become the Lady of the house. The Luna of the silvermoon pack. Fuss was made over my nails of what nail polish color would fit perfectly on it. I let them make the fuss cause I did not care much about it. I just wanted to be linked arm in arm with my groom and tell him ' I do'. They finally decided on a chic blue nail polish coupled with a glitter lacquer polish for design. It did turn out great and my toe nails were given a nude nail polish color after minutes of a nice pedicure. Same fuss was made over my hair of which style would fit the Lady of the house. I had
Devon's POVThe training lasted till midnight before Damian everyone to retire to their rooms for the battle ahead. The morning came more quickly than expected but the pack warriors did not look like they lacked sleep. For this has done this before.I addressed the pack concerning the battle with the tyrant, Rodrigo. A few warriors were assigned to guard the palace with all their strength. We were ready, dressed, swords in our hands and guns too for the battle that was about to take place.Just then sounds of hooves on the ground and approaching cars could be heard from a distance."It's now or never," Damian said to me. He was indeed ready.Hell let loose as bullets and arrows flew around. It came out so sudden. I almost pushed Damian out of the way as an arrow was fired towards him, he fell down to the ground as I went off to grab who had fired the arrow.Rodrigo's men were advancing towards us, a battalion of them. My warriors charged towards them. Heads were ripped off, hearts we
Devon's POVThe sudden appearance of the red moon was quite baffling. It arrival before it said date took us off guard. The pack guards went in search of the sage in the caves but as usual there was nothing. Perhaps, this was just a facade of the red moon? I pondered.I got back to the palace and Olivia was not in her room. I asked about her from Gabi and she told me Olivia was in the garden.I got there and saw her staring at a plant. "Hey, love. What are you looking at?" I asked her."Hi, um, it's this green plant, it shines but it won't let me uproot it," she replied."Let me see," I said as I drew nearer to the plant. It was the sage! "My, it's the sage," I said in excitement. She grinned. "Well, uproot it!" She said to me. I tried to uproot it but it wouldn't. This was just a plant and not a tree, yet it was hard to uproot. I tried severally but it would not come out of the ground. "How about we do it together?" She suggested. I agreed and when we did, the sage came off so easily
Devon's POVThe more she lied the more she infuriated me. "You don't know what I'm talking about?" I asked her again and she stared at me. "Fine," I added as I dialled Damian's number. "Bring the girl in," I said into the phone and then hung up.A few minutes later, Damian walked into the house with Trisha who was frightened. Candice could not hide the horror on her face."Will you claim not to know this woman?" I asked her."I don't know her," Candice replied with confidence."Stop lying!" Trisha yelled at her. "Look at what you've gotten me into. These guys came to the club and dragged me out like a loser. I warned you about this but you still indulged me into it by tempting me with what I love the most," Trisha said to Candice in anger."Liar! I don't know you!" Candice yelled at her."Trisha, repeat everything you told me about Candice in the car," I said to her.Trisha swallowed. "Candice and I are co-workers at the strip club," she began to say and Olivia was shocked. "She came
Candice's POVI returned back to the house and I saw Susan with a blanket wrapped her shoulder as she sipped a cup containing coffee I believe. "Why are you all wrapped up when it's barely chilling outside?" I asked her."I'm just thinking," she replied.I snickered as I sat down on the chair. "That's why you're all covered up," I said. "Well, how's Olivia?" I asked her.She shrugged. "Not so good. She's still inside," she replied."What must have happened? Why is she so shaken?" I asked."Well, Devon came by today. Turns out that the reason why Olivia is upset and quiet is because of him," she said with a sigh."Oh my, what happened?" I asked as I pretended as if I did not know what was going on."It turns out Olivia has a video of Devon cheating on her with some girl and some pictures too," she replied."What?" I exclaimed, pretending to be shocked. She nodded, buying all my pretentious act. Damn, I was a good actress!"It's so strange. Devon is so in love with Olivia. I can't belie
Devon's POVI got to Susan's place and she immediately opened the door. "Where is she?" I asked as I got in."She's in my room. She won't come out and I have been hearing crying sounds coming from there," she said as she led me to her room.We got to her room and there was Olivia laying face down on the bed in a red dress. "Olivia," I called her name and her body immediately stiffened before she turned around and got off from the bed. "What are you doing here?" She demanded with so much anger in her voice as she stared hard at me with puffy eyes."You're crying," I said going close to her."Don't you dare come close to me. Don't you dare!" She yelled out at me."Olivia, I'm sorry," I was burdened by her behavior as I apologized. I had no idea that the dinner date meant so much to her."Get out," she replied without looking at me."Olivia, I..." I began to say but she did not let me finish when she interrupted me."I said get out!" She yelled in anger."I'm sorry!" I yelled back, not
Damian's POVThe security personnel went through the CCTV footage but unfortunately, there was no sign of Devon leaving the hotel. He was only seen going into the men's room. I almost missed the next person that went in when I suddenly saw her and asked him to pause. "Zoom in," I said to him and he did. A woman was going into the men's room too. She had black hair, but her face could not be seen. "Hell, what is a woman going to do at the men's room," I pondered out aloud. The security personnel shrugged. "Is there no footage of the woman or Devon coming out of the men's room?" I asked him."No, sir. You can see from the footage that nothing like that happened and there doesn't seem to be any glitch anywhere in the system," he replied.I groaned inwardly. "Thank you very much," I said as I patted his shoulder."You're welcome," he replied as I walked out of the room. Where was Devon and who was that woman? I pondered deeply.I got back to the hotel hallway and spoke to the guards we ca
Olivia's POVI stumbled back in shock unable to believe my eyes. I held the chair to stable myself from falling. It was as if my eyes were deceiving me. I paused as the phone slipped down from my hand. Was this the launch Devon claimed to be at?Perhaps, images might be deceiving, but I had no idea what pushed me to leave the palace and get to the hotel. On getting there, another message came in, directing me to the room Devon was in. I walked up the stairs, used the elevators and I could feel my heart in my throat as I got out of the elevator. What would I see? I knew it would be something that I would not be able hold in. I got to the room and opened the door and lo and behold, before my very eyes, there was that same woman I saw yesterday humping over Devon.I closed my mouth in shock and pain as tears cascaded down my eyes. I left the door slightly ajar as I ran out of the hallway. I kept running till I was out of the hotel.I could not scream even when I possibly wanted to. My ha
Candice's POV"What?!" Trisha exclaimed, almost spitting her cappuccino in my face."Hush, calm down Trish," I said to her as I looked around the strip club, ensuring that no one was eavesdropping on us."What do you mean by calm down, Candice? That I should frame Devon up? Are you kidding me right now?" She literally yelled at me."You're not really framing him up, Trish," I replied."What do you call drugging a man in an hotel room, and taking pictures with him?" She demanded."Stop sounding like this is the first time you're doing such a thing," I frowned at her."And so? At least I know the kind of men I do such with. Not men like Devon and especially not Devon. Please, Candice!" She flared up.I slapped my forehead. "So, you're not going to do this?" I asked her."No amount of money will make me mess with someone like Devon. Count me out," she said as she stopped her cappuccino and turned away."Not even for half a million bucks?" I asked her and she paused and turned around."Ha
