Chatter around the pack seemed to have perked up amongst the talk of the return of the mysterious man, I hadn’t heard his name before, but it seemed that most Moon Shadowers were very aware of who he was.

“I heard his mate rejected him and when he turned feral Alpha Allison kicked him out of the pack.” One girl said as we sat in the movie room at the pack house.

“Nonsense, my mum said he was rejected by his mate and Alpha Allison took away his pain.” Another argued.

“How is that even possible?” A younger boy scoffed when Susie nudged me on the arm and nodded towards the door, indicating for me to follow.

“What’s up?” I asked when we closed the door behind us.

“Nothing, I just got tired of listening to them spout nonsense, I mean why would the Alphas ask him to come back if he was kicked out or feral for that matter?” Susie shook her head with an eye roll.

“I have no idea, but something I learnt about rumours is that there’s usually a semblance of truth to them.” I shrugged, no

“ My dearest Fia,There are days I awake with your laughter echoing from my dreams, days the warmth of the sun on my skin reminds me of your touch and days I long to tell you of my adventures; the one thing all those days have in common is the unique torture of being away from you.It becomes harder every day, harder to remember your smile, harder to recall the sweet sound of your voice. I miss you.I don’t think I ever told you this, but as I trek further into the forest, hiding from rogues in trees and building fires for the warmth it’s all I think about. You were- you are my best friend, and you’ll always be.I wonder often, what you&rsqu

“We received this in the mail today.” Alpha Allison dropped the heavy envelope onto the desk we were all gathered around and by us I mean the Honour race and Christopher Butler, his purpose here- I had no idea. “Who’d like to do the honours?” Alpha Devin crossed his bulky arms over his chest. “Well, it’s addressed to someone by the name of Daisy Wild.” Maria looked at the mailing order with raised eyebrows. “From one Ca-sus… Puer.” Marcel read with confusion. “Seems to me none of you know who that is, but you’re sure it was addressed here?” “It was addressed to our post office box, it’s mostly used for business-related mail.” Alpha Allison said. “The name sounds Latin.” Maria studied the stamp once more, “There’s no return address either.” “It’s from Jasper,” I uttered, looking at my hands chuckling lightly. “How do you know?” Alpha Allison raised a curious eyebrow at me. “Casus Puer- means ‘Adventure boy’ in Latin, I used to call him that when we were kids and Daisy Wild- the

I couldn’t stop laughing, Jasper was telling me a story of the time he was chased by a wild boar.“It was terrible, Sophia, I’m a werewolf and it didn’t care! I had to climb a tree to escape the damn thing and luckily it was a strong tree cause the thing kept headbutting the tree trunk.” Jasper complained invoking yet another round of hysterical laughter.“Oh, poor thing, how long did you stay in that tree?” I teased, trying and failing to control my giggles.“All night…” He mumbled and I smiled to myself, “don’t laugh!” He groaned through the phone.“I can’t help it, my imagination is too vivid.” I chu

Susie and I looked at each other with wide eyes when the pack siren sounded, after I was taken, Alpha Devin had sensors put up around the pack and if someone enters the borders without permission, the siren sounded, alerting everyone.“What do we do now?” She questioned and I jumped into action.“Go straight home, gather everyone and lock yourselves in the bathroom,” I ordered, recalling the new safety protocol we came up with.“Where will you go?” She inquired with a deep frown on her face.“The assembly point. Go now, don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine.” I pushed her in the direction of her house and made my way to the assembly poi

“That’s preposterous, I won’t allow it, no way in hell!” Alpha Devin brought his fist down hard on the desk and I flinched as the table vibrated under the pressure. Despite being as shocked as he was by Jasper’s suggestion, I could see the logic behind it. Alpha Allison glanced at her mate and sighed, “Jasper, what you’re asking… It isn’t a night out at the movies, you’d be putting yourselves in real danger.” She emphasized the last part and she wasn’t wrong, what he was suggesting was a suicide mission with all the men Dark has searching for the talisman, but if we succeeded that would mean we would finally have the upper hand on that psychopath. “Alpha Allison,” I sighed and glanced at her mate who was glaring intently at Jasper, “what Jasper’s suggesting is crazy, I agree, but think about if we find the talisman. We can’t let something that powerful fall into the hands of a murderous psychopath like Alaster dark.” I glanced at Jasper from the corner of my eye. “I’m going wit

The museum was virtually empty for a Wednesday morning, apart from the few lurking employees and the primary school tour group that followed the museum guide around, we were the only other people scuffing up the polished floors.“According to my research, the moonstone was displayed here,” Jasper announced as he led us into a room filled with gemstones on display. “It was the centrepiece at the event.” We lingered around the room looking for nothing in particular.“Where do we even start?” I blew out a frustrated breath, nothing in this place looked like it held any traces of something that happened twenty years ago.The large display case that stood front and centre was empty which made Jasper’s inspection look completely out

AMIDST THE SHADOWS OF NATURE, AT THE CENTRE OF THE LOTUS, LIES THE LIGHT OF THE SEEKER Did the clue refer to the Moonstone? The Curator did say the stone was luminous. “Do you think it will be that easy? We find this lotus in the shadows of nature and there’s the Moonstone?” I frowned, looking at the tiny board we took from the museum, clearly, no one would miss it if they never found it before. “Something tells me it isn’t going to be that straightforward. Whoever stole the stone clearly went through a lot to make sure it remains lost in time, but to leave clues behind? They definitely want someone to come to find it.” Jasper answered from his seat beside me on the train. FLOWER, EXISTS THE LIGHT OF THE SEEKER. The words echoed in my head aimlessly, I had no idea what a lotus flower even looked like nor what the shadows of nature entailed. “If you think any harder your hair might catch fire.” Jasper’s teasing voice sounded behind me as he stepped onto the tiny balcony. Our chos

“Well, we’re here now, where do we start?” Jasper propped his hands on his waist, looking around the vast library with a mixture of awe and distaste. Libraries weren’t a place he enjoyed frequenting and yet here he stood in the biggest library in the world. “Come on.” I grasped his hand and pulled him in the direction I knew the werewolf mysteries were hidden. “How is it you know your way around this place? As far as I know, art is more your forte?” Jasper raised an eyebrow when I began looking through the shelves for anything that might catch my eye. “My mum liked this place, we would come up here pretty often when I was a kid.” I explained, scanning titles as I went along. “Okay… Are you looking for something particular?” He shrugged, coming to stand beside me with a lost look on his face when he looked at all the books. Running my fingers over the spine, I stopped on a gold embossed title on a red leather hardcover. “This one.” I slipped the book from its place and brought it

Jasper dragged me through the forest in the direction of the clearing. “Jas, slow down!” I cried as I giggled uncontrollably, hopping over fallen branches and dodging low branches. “We have to get there before the sun sets!” He proclaimed and all I could do was shake my head. The sun was still quite high in the sky since it was only three in the afternoon. Arriving at the clearing I gasped when my eyes landed on the checkered picnic blanket set up at the base of the large rock. “We’re a bit too big to fit up there anymore.” He pointed to the rock with a grin. “You did all this for me?” My heart melted into a puddle and tears pooled in my eyes. “Of course I did- Baby, why are you crying?” Don’t you like it, we can go somewhere else. I’m sorry, please don’t cry. I’m sorry.” Jasper gathered me in his arms and stroked my hair as I tried to get my emotions under control. “No! No, I love it, I’m just a little emotional, that’s it.” I hiccupped, taking a step back s he could see the sm

I stood awkwardly beside the tiny sofa where Jasper’s large form took up most of the space. Halle and Nathan had welcomed us in when we arrived at their door, but I the tension in our presence was palpable. “How do you feel?” Nathan asked suddenly. “Fine, I guess,” Jasper answered curtly, accepting the cup of coffee Halle offered him. “Have your memories returned?” Nathan shifted uncomfortably in his seat, glancing at me from the corner of his eye. “Some of them. Why are you holed up in this tiny cottage in the middle of nowhere when you have a whole pack house and several guest houses nearby everything? Surely it isn’t easy getting around the forest with that thing.” Jasper motioned to the wheelchair. Nathan’s eyes turned to me with confusion, I could see the question in his eyes. “He doesn’t know,” I stated, not looking at Jasper when his eyes turned to me. “Doesn’t know what?” Jasper narrowed his eyes as he glanced between us. “The pack wants nothing to do with me.” N

“What?” I asked shakily. “I remember your voice.” He stared at me with startled eyes, “I heard you, Sophia.” He scrambled off the bed and shuffled towards me. Jasper took my hands in his, “I heard you asking me to fight.” Jasper ran a hand through his hair while I just stood there, shell-shocked. “Ho- How? You were unconscious.” I croaked, my throat felt like it was closing up. “I don’t know. I don’t know how.” He shook his head gravely. “Do you remember anything else?” I asked hesitantly and Jasper’s eyebrows knitted in concentration. “I- I think I saw you, but it feels like a dream. You were walking towards me- dressed in a purple vest that hugged your figure, and you had a duffle bag over your shoulder. You smiled at me.” He had a faraway look in his eyes and his hands squeezed mine as he recalled the memory. “That was just before-” “-I was stabbed in the back.” He completed my sentence and looked at me with startled eyes. “Do you-?” I couldn't even get the words out,

Jasper sucked in a deep breath when we entered the pack house. It was still early which meant the grounds were practically empty when we made our way over there, but inside, pack members hustled and bustled around getting ready for the day.“I’m right here. Just tell me when you want to leave and we’re out of here.” I squeezed his hand in mine.Jasper had taken the news of his true identity quite well, I knew it was because he hardly understood what his position meant or what he meant to the pack. It’s been a week since he crashed my inauguration ceremony and we’ve made good progress, today was the first day he’d be around so many pack members at once and so far he was doing great as he greeted everyone we passed with a kind smile.

“Ardere…” I reached out shakily, glancing between his troubled eyes and reddened fingers. Ardere’s eyes met mine and for a moment he just stared as I took hesitant steps closer while I felt like my heart would beat out of my chest. “Stop! What are you doing, you could get hurt!” Nathan’s voice travelled through the crowd and Ardere’s eyes widened. He went to pull away, but before his hand was out of reach, I threaded my fingers through his and held on tight. “He wouldn’t hurt me,” I whispered, squeezing his hand in mine as pleasurable tingles spread up my arm from his touch. “My Jasper wouldn’t hurt me.” My vision swam with tears as the truth hit me square in the face. It was him, if there was any doubt before, there wasn’t now. “Jasper?” He questioned shakily. “Yes, it’s you, it’s really you.” I choked on a sob, the relief that spread through my body warmed my heart and for the first time in three months, I smiled a genuine smile, watery but genuine. “I- uh…” He trailed off an

The pack buzzed with excitement as the three of us climbed the stairs, everyone was whispering about the bulky man who walked behind me with confidence radiating from his being.Marcel and Jason took their places behind me as I stood at the podium, “Good evening High Tiders.” I grinned widely. “First, I’d like to thank you all for taking the time to be here tonight. We’ve faced some tough times as a pack, but I’d like to think this is the beginning of a new era.” I looked around at the hopeful faces that stared back at me, pausing a little when I caught sight of Nathan and Halle seated right at the back.“With that, I’d like you all to meet Marcel Miller.” I motioned to him when he stepped up beside me and nodded at the crowd before him, “Marcel was a warri

You can watch TV and play around with my tablet while I’m gone, use the time to try and figure out some of the things you don’t remember, but don’t make a lot of noise please, I don’t want anyone poking around here.” I motioned around the house.“I’ll be back late today, there’s food in the fridge, you can heat it up in the microwave.” I pointed to the appliance behind me and turned back to look him dead in the eye, “You have to stay here, okay? Under no circumstances can anyone find out you’re here, so please just stay hidden and if you hear anything, hide. My heart thudded wildly in my chest as Selene’s utterance registered in my mind.“Wh- who are you?” I swallowed thickly, reaching behind me to steady myself on the boulder.“I’m sorry for following you, I didn’t mean to scare you.” His soothing baritone voice sent shivers down my spine and tears gathered in my eyes without warning.“No, this can’t be real, I must be dreaming.” I shook my head vigorously and stumbled back into the rock before I spun around and took off in the direction of the High Tide pack.‘This can’t be happening. It’s just a dream.’ I repeated
