Chapter 270: Don’t Look Back

“Why are you getting jealous of yourself…” My face flushed in an instant, and I fidgeted in his embrace.

That was when I suddenly felt a burst from my feet. Losing my balance, I almost fell into a pile of white bones nearby, but Dicken’s tail caught me in time and pulled me into this arms.

Then, the grating sound of something sharp slicing through the submarine’s walls resounded above us, just as the entire vessel began to shake violently. Dicken promptly carried me to the command room, and I looked up to find a black and massive object hovering above the submarine. I couldn’t tell what it was, though it resembled a mass of thick, poisonous black fog.

“What is that?!” I felt instinctive fear, trembling even as I stared at that mass, but Dicken was pulling me along. Then, he pulled the scale out of my pocket and put it over my chest, and I felt a burning sensation—looking down in reflex, I saw the scale fusing with the birthmark over my chest, turning my birthmark into a dark blue
