Niylah’s POV

I was trying to get the whole talk out of my head, like why would Henry care for me? Why is he suddenly acting strange? I sat down on the couch, my hands rummaging through the contents of my cross bag while my gaze remained fixed on the floor, thinking of how to appreciate him.

He doesn't even look like someone waiting for my appreciative message. He looks so serious with his phone in hand, as if he's arguing with someone. Liam and the rest were also seated, each with their phone. I'm the only one who seems not to have a phone among them. Alex had gotten me one earlier, but I hadn't registered it, so I couldn't carry it along.

The house door rang, and immediately, Catherine stepped inside, her eyes bulging out of tears. I wondered if she still went to cry more wherever she went. She looks surprised to see Liam and the rest sitting, they all looked up to greet her, but she was only staring at them without answering.

"Liam!" She screamed, getting Liam flinched on his ph

Niylah’s POV I I thought it was all a lie until Catherine instructed Xandra to take me on a shopping trip for clothes. Now, surrounded by the multiple dress scattered on the floor, I felt exhausted. I couldn't believe this was happening now or if it was just a dream? I pinched my cheeks, hoping it would hurt and I would wake up from my dream, but it was fruitless. I only groaned in pain, I was still in the same scene of my life. “Why the pinch?" Xandra asked, setting her phone aside and focusing on me. "It feels like a dream, doesn't it?" I asked, my brow furrowed in confusion. "In what aspect?" Xandra inquired. "Everything! Why is Ma'am Catherine being so nice to me? Why the sudden trip? Why am I included?" I rapid-fired my questions, seeking clarity. "Of course, she'd be kind, you're Henry's mate, her only son," Xandra replied playfully. "But he rejected me!" I exclaimed, shocking Xandra. "But he could still feel the mate bond," Xandra countered. "And that's it? How is th

Niylah’s POV Henry deepened the kiss, his hands roaming around my body. I wanted to push him away, but I craved him more and found it hard to do as my mind had requested. He suddenly stopped kissing me and buried his head in my hair, his hot breath filling my neck. His hand remained on my waist as he inhaled loudly. "I'm sorry, I trespassed again," he said, his voice low and husky. I blinked repeatedly, getting back to my senses, and quickly pushed him away as I ran out of the room, heading to the dining room. Everyone was already seated, and their eyes seemed to fall on me immediately as I stepped inside. The room was filled with the savory aroma of roasted beef and steaming vegetables. "Niylah," Xandra called, her eyes on me as if trying to read my mind. "Did you pour cream on your cheeks? Why are you so red?" she added, her voice laced with amusement, and I touched my cheeks to confirm. They felt warm to the touch. "I...I...it was..." my voice stammered, unsure of what to s

An uncomfortable silence filled the air as we exchanged glances. Catherine and Xandra looked more shocked, being the only ones unaware of the situation. Henry's scream made each of us flinch in fear. "Is that the truth?" Catherine's voice erupted from the back, and Liam nodded gently, his white eyeballs turning red. "Ivory is your mate?" Xandra asked to confirm the scandal, and Liam nodded again, tears streaming down from the corners of his eyes to his cheeks. I stared at Henry, whose gaze had turned a creamy red due to the high rate of screamed tears cascading like a sea on his cheeks. I was clueless about what to do, as everything seemed so complicated. "I'm sorry," Henry's voice broke the silence that loomed between us. His gaze was fixed on the floor. Axel returned from the balcony, his expression hard to read. Why had he told Henry? Was it because of me, or was he just helping Henry? "You don't have to be sorry; I was the one who kept mute," Liam tried to play it cool, but h

"What are you guys doing here?" Liam asked, frustration evident in his voice as he stepped forward, but Xandra was quick to intervene. "Why the hurry? We're in the airport, this is a public place, not our father's land," Xandra uttered, her anger palpable, but she was clearly trying to hold herself back. "Let's go," Alex's voice chimed in, and we all nodded in agreement. "Pray we don't cross paths again. If we do, believe me, you won't walk back home with your two arms," Liam threatened before we started moving, but Henry remained rooted to the spot, his gaze fixed on Ivory, radiating anger. "Come on, bruh, let's go," Liam said, but Henry didn't budge, his expression unchanging. I swallowed hard before walking toward him, touching his arm, and his gaze shifted to me. "Let's go," I said gently. It took him a minute before he nodded in agreement, and we both walked away to join the others. As we left, I could swear that Ivory and her friend's eyes were following us, but who actua

Niylah's POV A tense silence fell, punctuated only by the whimpering of Ivory and her friends, each clutching the spot where Xandra had slapped them. "I never had a stupid sister," Alex sneered, walking away with Liam. "Beware, or I'll behead you!" Xandra yelled, following them and leaving me with the others. I turned to follow but Ivory's words stopped me in my tracks. "You caused all this, you bitch!" she screamed. I scoffed, walking closer to her and lowered my body to the three of them. "Don't you think that's a bit rich, coming from you?” my voice trailed off. “If you're not a bitch, what are you? Fucking your mate's friend? Or should I say your friend crush?" I muttered, pointing at Hilda, "you know….. Hilda had a crush on Henry. I wonder how she'd feel if she knew you were sleeping with her crush." I stood up, my eyes locked on Hilda's widening gaze. "Ivory," she called out in a low tone, and Ivory seemed shaken. "Ivory, is what she said true? You're sleeping with Henry

Henry's POV Three hours had passed since Niylah locked herself away, refusing to open the door despite our pleas. I realized I had become more than just a jerk to her, I was a heartless monster. I had toyed with her emotions like a cruel joke. Deep down, I knew she deserved the best, not a beast like me. She had a soft heart, and I didn't deserve to be near her. I couldn't shake the thought of how I could punish myself for my actions. Sleeping with my best friend's mate for over a year? I didn't deserve happiness. Niylah was the only one who brought a smile to my face, and yet I didn't even deserve that. If she ended up with Liam, I wouldn't be bothered. She deserved someone like him. I crushed another empty can in my hand, tossing it aside and grabbing another. The sound of the can opening echoed through the air like a haunting melody. I raised it to my lips, but a hand grabbed it, I raised my head and it met Alex's own, his eyes blazing with anger. "Let go!" I yelled, t

Niylah's POV I secluded myself in the empty room for what felt like days sobbing over a self-centered jerk; What Henry had said played on repeat in my mind over and over again. ‘It was all lies’. Those four words pierced my chest like a dagger and milked away what little hope I had left. Whenever my eyes drifted closed from exhaustion, I was met with his cruel smile—mocking me—judging me for something I couldn’t change. All I could do was stare at the wall and cry. Occasionally, for some reason or another, Henry or Alex knock at the door to check on me. They’d plead with me to exit the room to eat something or at the very least drink some water, but I’d always refuse. Not out of spite, mind you. My refusal wasn’t driven by hate or malice, nor was it driven by the desire to have Henry care one last time. I physically couldn’t move from that spot and didn’t have the energy to worry about it. Just as I had been about to drift off to sleep a granola bar was shoved violently against the

Henry’s POVHearing her cries echo from the room made me feel nauseous. I couldn’t bear hearing her suffer over something I stupidly said. It was a way to protect her. Letting her go so that she could be with someone better was an act of mercy on my part. I was doing her a service, even if she didn’t realize that yet. One day, when she becomes mates with someone worth a damn, she might even learn to thank me for my sacrifice. She shouldn’t cry over it.Not now. Not ever. Crying over a man like me, and starving herself was pointless.Niylah had been in that room for four, going on five, hours now, and the sound of her sobs still echoed through the halls. I couldn't take it anymore. I needed a way to cope with the pain of hearing her cry out in agony, but, thanks to Alex, I didn't have any liquid courage to numb my senses. As I paced outside her door, my mind raced with worry and guilt. His gaze drifted to Niylah, resplendent and fierce, commanding the attention of the pack with her newfound Alpha presence. She had shed her insecurities like a snake shedding skin, and the magnificence of who she was now practically radiated. Memories of their past flashed through his mind, filling him with remorse. He had been such a fool—disregarding her, underestimating her strength, and acting out of selfishness. The recollection of that day haunted him, the burning shame of how he had rejected her publicly, how he had chosen to embrace Ivory instead of nurturing what he could have cherished with Niylah. And with that blessing, he had discovered not just love but a profound truth about himself. As the future Alpha, he felt the weight of responsibility on his shoulders to embody strength and resilience. Niylah stood beneath the pale glow of the moonlight, her heart racing with a mixture of fear and exhilaration. The night seemed alive with energy, vibrating in tune with the beating of her own heart. She had always been the Omega—the weakest, the underestimated, the one who bore the brunt of others' expectations and their scorn. Every day had been a battle against the tides of her reality, a struggle to carve a place for herself in a world that thrived on hierarchy and dominance. But tonight, everything was different.Memories flooded her mind as she took a deep breath. She could still remember the whispers that followed her, the laughter laced with cruelty echoing in the corners of her mind. “Niylah the weak, Niylah the expendable,” they'd call her. The other wolves in her pack had found their strength in their Alpha lineage, their fierce dominion solidified by blood and tradition. And then there was her—nobody. Just Niylah. The Omega. Her hands clenched into fists as she recalled th

Liam's POVThe confrontation had spiraled into a tumultuous battle of emotions that left me reeling. As Sophia’s revelation twisted around us, I could scarcely grasp the gravity of what she had confessed. The air crackled with uncertainty, but behind it all was a thread of betrayal that hung heavily in the silence. It ricocheted through each moment, wrapping the three of us in a storm.“She disguised herself as Evelyn,” I thought, the notion too surreal to digest. “Why would she go to such lengths?”Every detail felt like an incomplete piece of a broken puzzle I strained to assemble. This woven narrative hung precariously, every new thread threatening to unravel the ties that bound us together.“You played Evelyn,” I finally managed to voice, disbelief still clinging to my words. It felt surreal, as though I were watching a play unfold rather than witnessing the reality standing before me. “Why would you put yourself in that position? Why hide in plain sight?”“I did it for you!” Soph

Niylah's POVThe cool air was fraught with tension as Sophia revealed her truth, the revelation seeping into my consciousness like a slow poison. I tried to piece together the fragments of my emotions as I stood there, stunned.Sophia had been my confidant, a steadfast ally who had helped me navigate my darkest days. I had relied on her, unknowingly, while she had worn a mask so deceiving it felt as if the ground beneath me had shifted. It left me reeling, the foundation I thought our friendship was built upon cracking beneath the weight of her betrayal.“Evelyn,” I whispered, the name falling from my lips like a ghostly echo. “Her eyes glistened with unshed tears, remorse reflected in her gaze. I had justified my own insecurities through our bond; I had viewed our relationship as a sisterhood, one founded on support. To learn that Sophia had disguised herself as someone else—someone dangerously close to me—felt like a betrayal that ran deeper than mere deception; it threatened the v

Sophia’s POVThe moonlit clearing shimmered, casting elongated shadows that danced across the ground like phantoms from my past. My heart raced as I prepared to share my truth with Niylah and Liam. I could sense the tension that lingered in the air, the unspoken questions and the hazy remnants of doubt. It was time to shed my own skin, to remove the last pieces of the façade I had built to protect those I cared about most.We had all been through a crucible of conflict that had tested our bonds, but now we stood on the brink of revelation. As I gathered my thoughts, my gaze flickered to Niylah, her fierce determination a beacon of strength. I remembered all too vividly the moments when she had needed me most, how I had made it my mission to be her shield against the dark forces that threatened her.Would she understand how deep this deception ran? Would she see that my intentions had been guided by loyalty, even if my methods were misguided?"There's something you both need to know,"

Liam's POVThe night air felt heavy, charged with emotions still pulsating from the earlier confrontation. Sophia’s voice drifted through my consciousness like a haunting melody, testing the strings of loyalty and trust. She stood before Niylah and me, a woman who’d carried the weight of being our beta and yet had slipped in her duty to protect the very foundation she held dear.“But you think you can just... pull the wool over our eyes and pretend it’s for our own good?” The words were out before I had fully processed them. I felt a mix of anger and disbelief at her veiled intentions, but there was an underlying concern—what else lay hidden behind those secrets?“I thought I was doing what was best!” She cried, small and earnest, the vulnerability in her reflection stirring something inside me. “I know I’ve made mistakes; I laid a path of betrayal. But I wanted to shield you two from the turmoil happening outside our borders.”In that moment, I felt the weight of my initial fury shi

Niylah's POVThe wind howled through the trees, carrying the echoes of the fight we had just witnessed. Nothing felt right. As the moon painted the clearing in ethereal light, I could hardly believe the chaos that had descended upon us. Sophia's words swirled in my mind, but the anger within me felt justified. The betrayal was fresh; it still stung like an open wound. Why had she kept us in the dark? It was unfathomable. Trust was the foundation of our pack, and now those foundations seemed to be cracked and crumbling.“Betrayal,” I echoed Sophia’s words. “That’s what it feels like. You were meant to stand by us, to protect us. Instead, you chose to act secretly.”“Could you not see that it was for our safety?” She looked at me imploringly, and I could see the tremor in her hands as she spoke. Maybe I was too harsh; Sophia was our beta, and she wore that responsibility heavily. But that didn’t excuse her silence.“We’re all carrying our own burdens, Sophia,” Liam’s voice was steady, c
