She wanted to refuse him, but then she just agreed, they already encountered each other, and might as well talk to him. Plus, it would be too strange if she just fell on the grass and instantly healed already. The princess must not have told the crown prince about it...
Good thing that the halls were empty and no one saw them. If not, she would not be surprised that tomorrow's news would be all about her and the crown prince. When they reached his study, he let her sit on the sofa, and let her face him with his sparkling golden eyes. His blonde hair was smooth and silky and she fought the urge not to run her fingers through it.
The lady sent him a smile, "Oh, you can just leave me at the infirmary or ask for a maid to send me home, your highness. I came with my father."
"I told you, I am not going to do that." He offered her a smile. "May I take a look at your feet?"
She wanted to shake her head, but her body was not listening.
Pulling up her dress enough for the crown prince to see her feet, Prince Mathias thanked her. "That's strange. Your body heals fast." He said.
"It really is not hurting anymore, your highness. I am deeply grateful." She said calmly.
Well..that's because the female lead had healed her earlier. She thought.
Prince Mathias ordered the maids a tea for them.
"Thank goodness. Now let us enjoy our cup of tea since you're already here... I just want to talk to you for a minute. Surely, you can spare some time for me?"
Talk with him? She felt curious. "Of course I would be glad, your highness."
Prince Mathias chuckled at her reaction. "You're pretty cute, Lady Vienna."
She just smiled, not knowing how to answer that compliment.
He looked at her in amusement. "No need to be nervous, my lady." He said. Was it obvious that she’s nervous? "I'll just ask you something."
She smiled at him, sipping from the cup of tea he offered. She caught a whiff of the scent of the tea. It was sweet, calming, and addicting, perfect for a tea drinker like her. "This tea is delicious, your highness, may I ask what this is called?"
He took a sip of his cup of tea. "It's a gift from the north. Do you want it? I'll send some for you next time.”
Oh? "You don't have to, your highness."
"But I want to." He said.
If she were not to think about him killing her, the crown prince seems reasonable and comfortable to talk to… he’s not called the male lead for anything. But it feels like the way he acts is forced, almost not natural. It’s like he practiced this a few times.
Instantly, she could feel the atmosphere changing as the way the crown prince looked at her also changed. His golden eyes gazed at her sharply, and she felt a sudden shiver, almost like a prey getting hunted by a predator.
"Your father and I got along really well you know...we actually discussed some business matters but..." he trailed off, returning to the topic about her father. "Sadly...he rejected my request."
The lady looked at him in silence, reading his expression. She was confused. She does not know why his highness is saying this to her but she should go with the flow. "Really? I came with my father here as he met his majesty the emperor for a meeting." She informed him.
"Really? That's great then..." Prince Mathias said, pausing for a second before continuing. "I was asking him for access to your mining family business..."
The lady looked at him in confusion. What?
She may not be that educated with their business since her father handles it and her older brother is the heir for it, but she is an educated woman who studied this with some fine scholars of the empire. Their mining business was exclusively only for the Xaviera family with her ancestors...and even the most powerful family in the empire, which is the Royal Family, never even dared to mess with them.
It was already agreed by the past emperor not to touch them since they were allies from the past, not until the Royal family saw them as a threat and did their best to stop them from spreading their wealth. That is why the Xaviera Family never took anyone's side and became an independent family.
This was not according to the book...
And at this moment, it felt like...I'm being thrown like a sheep into a wolf's den...like I am being used... the lady thought.
"I was wondering if you could help me persuade your father? You see, the enthronement is getting nearer...and it would benefit me...you know to get the crown easier. The other nobles are refusing to take my side after all..." Prince Mathias continued.
She stopped. The enthronement, he’s the heir to the throne of course...It would happen ten months now, after his marriage with Princess Avelina. Why is he bringing this up to her, a lady from the Xaviera family? Surely, he's not asking for her father's favor?
She knows her father. He's not interested in matters like this. Like the earlier Xaviera heads, her father is neutral.
There was an unknown emotion in Prince Mathias's eyes as he gazed at her with his usual smile. This was different... She felt chills running down her spine. The atmosphere in this room changed and she could feel tension circulating. Something is wrong. Wait a minute..is this connected to the information that Duke Raziel gave her yesterday from the coffee shop? That he was acting strange and going to the high priest often?
Until his personal attendant, Sir Maxfield interrupted the silence, "Forgive me for the intrusion, your highness, and Lady Xaviera. But Lady Xaviera's personal knight is waiting outside."
Lady Vienna never felt this grateful for her knight, Titus, to escort her home. He was right on timing!
Prince Mathias sighed in front of her. His expression turned back to normal and she felt that she could breathe again. "Oh, I see. It's quite a pity that I only got to talk with the lady today. I apologize I scared you, Lady Xaviera." He said as his bright golden eyes glistened, staring into her soul.
"Not at all, your highness." She replied, bowing her head slightly to him in respect.
He noticed her limping as she tried to stand up. "Are you able to stand now? Or would you like me to carry you?"
"I am fine, your highness," she said, refusing his offer.
"Okay...it is sad that you keep refusing my offers...anyways...surely you can't refuse this. Can I call you by the name, Estelle, Lady Xaviera? You can call me Mathias in return..." He said and she stopped.
"But-your highness-"
He cut her sentence off before she could finish it. "No buts. Now call me by my name."
"Oh...okay then...Mathias." She hesitated.
"That's great. Until next time...Estelle." He said and she was guided by the maid outside the Royal building.
Now that she met the female lead and the male lead, she even got more confused. What now?
She managed to see the tall figure of Titus through the dark night. Just then, the magical lights of the royal building turned on, offering its light across the whole dark night along with the stars in the sky. Of course, it was powered by mana. Speaking about manas, the lady was not gifted enough. She may be great at swords, but not with mana. She only had a little of it, which annoys her a bit.
When she got closer to the carriage, Titus's face greeted her. He was wearing his knight's mortal armor uniform. "Shall we go home, my lady?"
She nodded going home, she felt that night, wondering how things will change now. Sighing, she drifted in her sleep.
****
In the palace, by the land of Moressley in the Orthosdem Empire, the crown prince stared at the retreating figure of Lady Vienna.
“Estelle…” He mumbled. He knew everything. About how Lady Vienna had been obsessed with her. That’s why he’ll take advantage of it…
His trance was broken when he heard a knock on the door. “This is Avelina.”
“Come in.” He replied, and the door opened, revealing the 5th princess of the Lumen Kingdom, his fiance, Princess Avelina Ophelia de Solerr.
The princess bowed at him graciously and he nodded, guiding her to sit in front of him.
Her bright blue eyes stared at her and her golden hair shone, her delicate and small figure suits her angelic face. The princess was beautiful and he knew it. The moment that he saw her, he knew he had to marry her. “How’s your stay here? I hope you’re enjoying the empire.”
The princess smiled, “It’s beautiful here.”
He smiled. “Not as beautiful as you…”
The princess’s cheeks turned red at what he said. He chuckled at her reaction, he loved teasing her.
“Do you need anything, my dear fiance?” He asked, noticing her lips wanting to say something.
The princess shook her head. “Oh no, I know you’re busy. I just want to...know if we could dine together later at dinner?”
She looks cute. Smiling at her, she caressed her face. “Yes, just as always.”
“Ehem.” A clearing of the throat interrupted them. “Excuse me but his majesty the emperor requests for you at his study, your highness.” Said his attendant, Maxfield. He nodded and turned back to stare at Princess Avelina’s shy expression.
“Forgive me my dear fiance, but my father wants to see me...Our dinner would be delayed, is that alright?”
The princess nodded, “I’ll be waiting then. Go ahead.”
Kissing her hand like a gentleman, he stood up and made his way towards his father’s study.
Knocking on the door, he heard his father’s voice and let himself in. “Your majesty.” He said, bowing to his father, notifying him of his arrival.
His father turned to look at him, smiling at him gently. His long grey hair and bright golden eyes shone, his skin wrinkly and old. “Hello, my dear son. I just had a wonderful meeting with Duke Xaviera. I heard that you brought the daughter of Duke Xaviera to your study?”
He nodded, knowing he was right. His father had been monitoring his movements for years now...he knows every move he makes...“Yes, I had, father. She fell from a tree so I treated her.”
“Good...that’s expected of us Stavios to be a gentleman. Do you like her? You can marry her…” His father trailed off.
He stopped at that. What does his father want him to do? “I have Princess Avelina's father.” That was all he could reply.
“Yeah, but that young woman seems interesting...you can take her as a concubine if you want…” the emperor gave him a challenging look then chuckled. “I’m just kidding.”
He then cleared his throat. “I called you here to ask you about your preparation for your enthronement. Is everything all prepared?”
He nodded. “Yes, everything is all prepared, father.” Of course, what other reason would he call him for…
“I expect great things for you after I retire. Do everything to win over the other nobles. They think you are useless and not fit for the throne. Prove them wrong, my child.”
“Yes, father.” He said, and the emperor had dismissed him.
He knew..if his brother still lives, he wouldn’t be the crown prince…
Checking around him to see if his father’s guards were still everywhere, he went into his room when he saw no one. He lit up a torch, pressed the secret knob on the wall, and revealed a secret passageway. It was dark, but with his torch, the room lit up. He closed the opening behind him and marched onwards.
When he reached the other end, there was a sound of chains dangling and a prison beside him, with a man laying on the ground. The man coughed blood, his clothes all tattered, and his body all beaten up.
Prince Mathias grinned. “Hello, brother.”
The day had passed and Lady Vienna was found lazily lying in her room for the whole day. She felt tired from all these events from these past few days. Her maid, Roxy, couldn't help the smile spreading to her face. "The crown prince had sent you some tea leaves, my lady."The crown prince? Oh right, he promised to give her some tea leaves that time when she visited the palace...So he was serious?"Here's also a note attached to it." With a note on hand, Roxy handed it to her lady. Lady Vienna reading the letters written on it. It was wrapped in an elegant envelope, with golden colored ribbon and sealed with the beautiful golden seal, with the sun and lion symbol of the royal family, indicating it was truly from the palace.
As the Royal ball approached day by day, the whole town was preparing for it and the busiest was the palace. And before long, the Royal ball finally arrived. Sitting at her vanity, Lady Vienna had finally chosen the perfect dress she'll wear for the event tonight. "Everyone will stop and stare at you, my lady," Said Roxy as she put make-up on her lady. Of course, Lady Vienna had fully prepared herself. Smirking, she stared at her reflection, fully aware of her beauty. Her red lips and pale skin complements her red hair and green eyes, her rosy cheeks showing. The dress she picked for tonight is one of the dresses Duke Raziel had given to her. It was an off-shoulder ball gown that shines with its glitters. Her hair was up in a low bun as it framed her small face. Lady Vienna really went all out. She dressed to impress. The Royal ball would be starting in an hour soon, and Duke Raziel i
And before she could respond, she felt him guiding her towards the terrace. She was on the second ground and seeing a tall man with a hood standing still by the grasses, she managed to catch sight of his silver hair and black eyes through the dark. There's no mistaking it, he was the handsome man that gave the book! The man she was looking for! "Hey, Mister!" She said, wanting him to see her. The man looked up to the terrace and when he saw her, he sent her a gentle smile, before turning around and walking towards the woods. No, she has been waiting for this moment, she has to talk to him! She has a lot of things to ask about the book! Grabbing her dress, she pulled it up and stood by the railings. "Wait, Lady Vienna! What are you planning to do?" Asked Raziel from beside her, now panicking. "This is dangerous!" She glanced at the mysterious hooded man's figure who was slowly getting farther from her. "I think I saw the
"My lady," Called her handsome knight Titus by the door the next day. His silver hair and tanned skin stood out, and the gentle look on his face calmed her. "Princess Avelina sent you a letter.” Handing her an envelope with the sun and lion seal, indicating that it came from the palace. Inside it was an envelope with beautiful handwriting. “How are you, Lady Vienna? I enjoyed the ball last night, I hope you did too. I am hosting a tea party today and would like to invite you to it. If you have time, I would be very pleased if you attend. I’d like to be friends with you.” Sincerely yours,
To think that Lady Vienna forced herself to behave just for today. She opened her fan now, containing her anger. She held the glass in her hand, but her grip was so strong that the glass broke into pieces. Fighting the urge not to throw it at Countess Tumaini, she smiled at her. “Oh, yeah. I really enjoyed that dance last night. How about you, Countess Tumaini? Weren’t you jealous because your husband loves his work more than you? Or the fact that your husband is satisfied with you?” The countess gasped at that. Glaring at her, the countess laughed hysterically. “How outrageous! At least my husband is human, not like your beast fiance.” Beast fiance? She stood up at that. “What did you just stay?” She felt angry now hearing someone call Raziel a beast. She couldn’t stay still. She knew fighting idiot people would get her nowhere but here she is. Countess Tumaini grinned smugly. “Why?
She was not surprised when a letter from the princess arrived again. “Dear Lady Vienna, Thank you for visiting the tea party. I was quite entertained as I was a bit annoyed at Countess Tumaini. You were so cool and strong! I aspire to be like you. If you have time, feel free to visit the palace, I would love to see you again. Truly yours, Princess Avelina Opheli de Solerr She sighed. She did not have any plans to be friends with her. If anything, she wants to stay away from the princess. As she ate her breakfast with her father, her father spoke up, "The Emperor wants to meet you today with me, my dear." “Really? I am grateful, father.” “Bring with you your knight.” She nodded. Finishing her meal, she prepared herself, wearing Duke Raziel’s gift, an elegant dress, and descended the st
“Where’s Titus?” Asked Lady Vienna when Titus did not appear to greet her one morning. “Sir Titus had returned to his home, my lady.” Said Roxy, brushing her hair as she sat by the vanity chair. Oh…“When will he be back?” “Oh, he didn’t tell us about that, my lady. He didn’t inform you?” Roxy asked. “No…” She can’t help but feel sad. Titus never did this...he always tells her beforehand whenever he returns to his home. Did he get affected after what the emperor told him? She sighed, taking a mental note to ask how Titus feels lately. He only opens up to her sometimes. After going down to eat her breakfast, Roxy asked something, “When are you going to visit the duke, my lady?” Oh, that’s right. The duke. She’s forgetting about him these days. Her mind was too preoccupied with Titus. Smiling, she faced her maid. “Why? Do you miss your lover, Hux
A/N Here is a token of my apology for not updating last week. Enjoy dear readers ;) ******* "VIENNAAA!!!" A loud voice boomed outside followed by the loud crashing of the door. Poor door. Lady Vienna grimaced at the sound. She didn’t have to look up and know who it was. It was her brother's. Letting out a tired sigh, she asked. "What is it now?" "My poor sister, did the Duke forced you to marry him? I swear I'll beat that bastard! So that is why he approached and got close to me!" His brother was clearly angry, looking at her with a fiery gaze. He was almost glaring at her. Of course, who wouldn't get furious knowing that their sister agreed to be the fiancé of the villainess duke. Pacing back and forth, he finally made a decision. "I'll talk to him-"
She heard her thoughts whispering to her. Those were the last words she ever expected to do, but having no choice, Lady Vienna slowly removed her hands that are only her lifeline now, and finally letting herself go, she watched as Ambrosia looked at what she did, not expecting her to do this. Lady Vienna closed her eyes and let the smoke conceal her. This is the least expected way of dying for her. Of all the times she was faced with danger, this is the most ridiculous way of how dying for her. She died because she gave up. She waited for impact, to fall to the ground and let her bones break but in an instant, a sharp claw grabbed her shirt, and a pair of flapping wings, with the sharp gust of wind. “Did you just let yourself die, Vienna? I won’t allow you to leave me easily.” Said a dark voice and her breath hitched, her heart drumming loudly just hearing him. Raziel. Lady Vienna couldn’t help but let the tears fall in her eyes. Duke Raziel dropped her off to safety and she
Just wait, Raziel. It’s my turn to make the effort. For the both of us. Well, it’s a bit unfair that I’m the only one who could remember everything we had, isn’t it? I have to make you know every bit and piece. And Lady Vienna waited no minute and started her plan. Lady Vienna took Duke Raziel to every place they went to. From taking him to the royal ball where they had their first official public appearance to the Rogue guild to their adventures with Avelina, and little mishaps with Crown Prince Matthias. It was a long process, but slowly but surely, Lady Vienna patiently waited for the perfect time, for the time he’ll wake up and remember what they had. Because this might be the only chance she’ll have. And if Alexis dares to mess up again in the timeline, he might even make the both of them forget that anything even happened. Lady Vienna took him to the picnic place, where Duke Raziel first surprised her with lunch. Duke Raziel stared at her, long and confused. “What?” She
“In our next life, I’ll come and find you, Vienna.” Lady Vienna woke up with a gasp, trying to adjust to the light as the comfortable mattress was-wait a minute. There should not be any comfortable mattress in their carriage on their way to the Lumen empire? The last thing she could remember was leaving the orphanage after Titus was gotten by the witch…and then going on another journey…with someone… She tried to rack her mind for more information, feeling that she was with someone. Not sure who it was, but it seemed that she had somehow formed a bond with this person. What was his..name again? She looked around and noticed she was in her room, she gasped in shock. “Roxy!” She yelled, and Roxy, appeared with her usual messy brown hair and maid uniform, “Yes my lady!” “Where is…where is Titus?” She asked, and the door instantly opened. “You called for me, my lady?“ Titus asked, his bright silver hair and purple eyes gleaming through the sunlight. “You called for me, my lady?“
Alexis laughed, caressing her cheeks, “Haha, this is the most exciting part for me. The revelation. Did he hide it from you? Or did he really lose his memory after I did the ritual?” “You seem to be so shocked, my dear. Let me explain everything to you clearly.” He then touched Vienna’s forehead and suddenly, a bright light came into her mind, along with memories playing. “Your soul was already dead long ago, Vienna. What keeps you awake was because Raziel sacrificed himself last time.” He started, and Vienna watched the scenery play in front of her. “Last century ago, Duke Raziel was a mighty killer who fell in love with a woman that became his weakness. It was you, Vienna. You were the one I cursed first for committing such a grave sin. But then he came to me, the most powerful dark mage to make a deal, to turn back time for you. This is out of the world’s nature, but out of pity, I decided to give him a try, to correct his mistakes, but along the way, the consequence was for hi
The next day, they continued and got closer to the Lumen Empire. The man was still there to guide the way to them. Fedel was keen on threatening the old man the moment he decided to fool them. Stopping by the cave to rest for the night, they somehow saw a bottle placed inside. Fedel grabbed it and gave it to Vienna as a joke, but it was all to their surprise when a huge smoke appeared from inside. A shadow of a figure appeared, and a tall and darkly handsome man showed up. Duke Raziel unsheathed his sword and pulled Vienna to the side, “What did you open?” He asked impatiently. Vienna pouted, “I don’t know, Fedel gave it to me!” Raziel sighed, “It’s a genie, be careful.” Vienna raised her eyebrows, “A genie?” The man stretched his arms out and faced them with a carefree look, “Ah, finally! I was sleeping for a hundred years now!” Now that they could see him clearly, there’s no denying that he looks handsome with his purple hair and white eyes, and fair skin. “You have one w
The children continually asked for her and Mr. Martini came to rush them back to their bedrooms. They then dried themselves off in their own quarters and after packing her stuff. a knock came on her door. She opened it and saw Fedel. She sighed, “Is it time?” He nodded, “The duke is already waiting by the door. We need to leave discreetly before the children notices.” She sighed, it would be hard to say goodbye. So it’s best to leave without them knowing… “You can get my things now. But let me do something first.” Fedel nodded, starting to carry her suitcase outside as she sat by the side table with pen and paper in her hands. She began to scribble some words. A parting letter for the children. Standing up, she then took a last look at the room. It was a short trip here but meeting the children was fun and she will cherish it forever. To think she was not much of a children's lover at first. She walked towards the back door where their carriage and Raziel’s horse Tiberius wer
“Want to know a very little secret?” She asked Vienna, and she continued, “You know, I was the one who killed your horrendous ugly pet.” The witch admitted. “The little girl Ella saw me doing that so she ran, and I made her forget her memory.” She said, “I also faked being sick and acted cutely so you knights could fall in love with me.” “But I didn’t.” Replied, Titus. “Yeah, that’s a pity, we could have been perfect together.” Raziel managed to cage her and the witch transformed into a tiger. Vienna got down and sliced on her thighs, but the witch was quick to go to her subordinate, biting on Titus’ shoulder. Raziel managed to cage her and the witch transformed into a tiger. Vienna got down and sliced on her thighs, but the witch was quick to go to her subordinate, biting on Titus’ shoulder. Lady Vienna snarled at how the witch was grabbing Titus. Titus hastened to grab his sword and push the witch away, glancing at his master. “I’m alright, Master!” He reassured Vienna b
“Fedel?” Avelina’s head tilted, “But that man clearly hates me.” Vienna shook her head, “Tsk tsk, ignorance is a bliss….I mean you need to open your eyes.” Vienna then stood up, “Then I’ll have to leave you to get some rest. Goodnight.” “Goodnight, your grace.” Vienna then prepared for bed, her heart heavy thiking about her pet’s passing. It’s alright. Everything’s going to be alright. But it doesn’t help that Raziel is not by her side. Her heart sank on the bottom even more. ***** The next day, she was woken up with Duke Raziel hovering over her. She gasped, sitting upright instantly that made her bump her head with him. “Ow! Why were you even doing there on top of me?” She irratedly said. “I was waiting for you to wake up,” Raziel replied, “I apologize.” “Where were you even? You didn’t sleep here last night.” She said. “I just took on some matters.” He replied simply. “Now I’m awake, what’s the matter?” She asked, as he seemed to be in a hurry. He pointed at he
Muttering a curse under her breath, Vienna immediately ran to the stables to check her beloved pet. Valen was never weak during their whole trip. Why would he lose energy now? As she opened the door, the horses were strangely quiet. From afar, she could only see her huge pet laying on the ground with eyes closed, his mouth open and his fangs bare. “Valen!” She yelled to catch it’s attention but he wasn’t moving. She checked his heart if it was beating and it was confirmed. There wasn’t any heart beat, Valen, her pet, is dead. The whole of the stables were filled with Vienna’s yells as she grived for her lovely pet. Titus and Fedel helped her make the funeral. Duke Raziel returned, hearing her broken heart. Vienna watched as her pet was being buried by the hill. She couldn’t help but let the tears escape her. Avelina came to pat her back and she breathed deeply. Raziel came to her side to comfort her but she pushed him away. “Don’t get near me.” “I’ll investigate this,
