Liam's reaction actually gave Gwyneth the creeps.

Still, in contrast to his usual cold aloofness, the way he fawned over her was actually pleasant.

"Fine, whatever. Just stop it already," she snorted—she just meant to pull a prank and ended up getting herself uncomfortable.

Seeing her expression relaxing and a lot less angry, Liam heaved a sigh of relief.

Evidently, acting cute was effective on occasion, just as it felt pleasant to see her torn between amusement and frustration.

Nonetheless, Gwyneth's expression turned solemn after the playful feud, and Liam knew very well that she was deep in thought.

There was a brief silence until Gwyneth raised her brow and asked in curiosity, "Do you think it's likely that your grandfather was acquainted with my mother's side of the family from the start?"

It sounds weird putting it that way, but there were times when instincts would prove right.
