ALEXA'S POV.
It was late at night, and luckily for me, this night will be the last I'll spend in this hospital. I so can't wait to go back home in the...in the warm arms of......I looked at him, as he was focused on whatever he was doing on his phone.I can't help, but feel like I'm the only one feeling this way toward him. Our afternoon misunderstanding was still clear in my memories."You know I can tell you're staring, right?" He hinted without looking at me.I just sighed. "Of course."He dropped his phone on the bed where I sat and looked at me. "Look, you've got something to say, say it, but it shouldn't be about my dad, and me."I nodded. "Yeah, you made that pretty clear."He paled. "I'm really....""I know, and I'm not angry," I assured him."But you've got something to say." He observed studying me.I nodded. "Yeah.""OK. Shoot." He shrugged.I let out a shaky breath thanks to the nervousness that suddenly engulfed me, but it won't stop me. "Um, I wanna ask if you...."The door opening interrupted me. My eyes brightened as I saw Emily. She smiled at me and entered. Behind her was Phoebe who locked the door."I see you at last," I uttered in surprise. She just smiled."Shocking you guys came together." Leo pointed out.Emily looked at him. "Well, she's awake now, isn't she?"Leo just nodded. "Whatever." Then he stood up."You're going out?" I asked, surprised by why he stood up.He shook his head. "I'll be around. I should leave you and your friends alone. Just let me know when they're gone."Phoebe just rolled her eyes.I nodded. "OK."He smiled and walked out.God help me, 'cause I so don't like what is going on around me.My friends here are a problem because they think my husband could be up to no good, and my husband obviously knows what they feel about him. He's not stupid. There are many spites around me, and it's sickening."It's a good thing he left." Emily gloated.I raised a brow. "Really?"She shook her head. "Chill. Not the way you think. I wasn't gloating."I scoffed. "You managed to get my husband out of the room, you know that, right?"She sighed. "I know, and I apologize, but don't worry. Things will turn out for the better. I was only happy he left because the three of us are alone.""Yeah. It's been a long since you were hospitalized." Phoebe interjected.I suddenly felt pity. "I guess.""Congrats, though." Emily chimed in.I smiled. "Thanks.""Of course, we are the godmothers." She went on."Can it have two godmothers?" Phoebe asked with furrowed brows."Well, my baby will." I declared."Good." She commented.Emily sat where Leo was sitting, while Phoebe took another, and sat down close to the bed."Throughout the month I was here, did I miss anything?" I asked.Emily sighed. "There's nothing to miss. Everything is safe. Nothing serious happened."I nodded. "And your jobs?""It's fine. We're all working hard. Dreams are hard to pursue after all." Phoebe responded.I nodded again in understanding of what they meant by dreams. I have mine too, but I'm just working hard to fulfill my parent's own which at the main time, my godfather is helping to manage. He told me I can leave him to manage my company, and go fulfill my own dreams, but I feel guilty just thinking about it. I feel like the only thing I should be doing is taking care of the company. That was what I went to school for. I can't turn my back on it."Thinking of your company?" Emily noticed.I nodded. "Yeah. I know it's doing fine with my godfather, but.....""It's not right." She completed. "It's your company. You should be the one handling it."I sighed."Although, for now, you shouldn't, since you're pregnant, and....""Pregnancy shouldn't stop her from handling her company.". Emily attacked Phoebe.Phoebe looked at her. "You of all people should understand, Em." She said raising a brow at her. Emily did the same like they were having some kind of encrypted message. Like they were talking in code.Emily's eyes widened insinuating that she understood which is beginning to make me confuse. "Oh. Yeah."Emily looked at me. "Yeah. Phoebe is right. You should leave it at the hands of your godfather for now, til you give birth. You don't want too much stress."I furrowed my brows at their weird attitude, but couldn't find a word to say, or an explanation to give myself."You understand, right?" Phoebe asked.I nodded absentmindedly. "Y..yeah. I think so, but you guys aren't keeping anything away from me, right?" I asked since I was beginning to feel they were. They both suddenly shook their head."Of course not, Alex," Emily responded.I nodded still unsure. "OK.""We just think you should just take a breather for now. I mean, you were handling it before you got married. After giving birth, you can go back to it." Phoebe told me.I sighed. "Don't even know about that. I don't want a nanny for my child."They both nodded."Yeah, we figured," Emily stated."You've always liked doing things by yourself even with all the money you have access to." Phoebe pointed out the obvious.I just shrugged. "I'm just scared that if I had a nanny to take care of my child, they'll brag about knowing my child more than me."They nodded again."True. Your child might even love the nanny more than you." Emily stated.I frowned. "I really don't want that.""We understand," Phoebe said with a smile."Although, quick question." Emily suddenly said.I furrowed my brows. "OK.""You've always said Leonard is no problem, but now are you beginning to feel something for him? Like love?"I raised a brow. Wow. She went straight to the point."Um,...." I began. "I...I think so. He hasn't given me a reason not to love him." I confessed."Does he feel the same towards you?" Phoebe asked.I shook my head. "Don't know. I didn't tell you guys this, but he had a girlfriend which I fear he's still hung over."Their eyes both widened, and they glanced at each other."He had a girlfriend?" Phoebe asked in surprise.I sighed. "That shouldn't be too surprising.""Did he tell you that?" Emily asked.I shook my head. "No. I do know that Leonard wants to be done with her because by mistake, I read their chats. She kept disturbing me, but I think Leonard blocked her because I stopped seeing messages from her.""Wow." Phoebe gasped.I nodded. "Yeah.""And you think he still likes her?" Emily asked.I shrugged. "Don't know. That's just how I feel. I'm probably overthinking it."She nodded. "Yeah, you are. Probably. If he's done with her, then he doesn't love her anymore."I equally nodded."Sad to say, but I think he already made a decision to completely settle for you." Phoebe made known.I smiled. "Right?"She nodded. "Sad to say."I was happy at the thought. It means he probably likes me that much."I think we should go, though, so he doesn't wait too much." Emily considered.I nodded. "Yeah.""We'll see when we see, then." Phoebe emitted. They both stood up."Thanks for coming." I appreciated. They both nodded. I took my phone and called Leonard as they both left the room. After two rings."Are they gone?"I sighed. Wow. "Yeah, they are.""Alright. I'll be there." He hung up.I dropped my phone on the bed and rubbed my head in exasperation.I'm suddenly tired, and I don't know why.I lay on the bed covering myself, as the door opened."You really didn't go far." I noticed. He forced a smile. "Why? Were you doubting?"I mentally shook my head, and looked away from him, though I honestly thought I shook my head.He walked closer to me and sat on the bed I comfortably lie on facing me. He's right now beginning to make me feel uncomfortable. He turned my face to look at him. "You look worn out."I shook my head. "It's nothing."He placed his left hand on my right-hand side of the bed and leaned closer to me til we were face to face with only our noses distancing it.My heart skipped a beat for some reason, as he was too close. Our bodies pressed together heatedly against the bed with our breaths coming out heavily."You want me to stay here with you?" He asked."If you can." I bit my lip. The smell of him was hypnotic without cause, and I was beginning to want to kiss him."If I can, or if I wanna?" He asked caressing my hair with his right hand which made sparks ignite within me."One of both," I responded, beginning to feel teased. He slowly nodded, and then, he gently pressed his lips against mine and I was quick to respond. His lips were warm and soft, and they parted slightly giving way for my tongue to slip inside.I wrapped my hand around his neck while his both hands held my waist, as our lips, and tongues kept moving in sync. I could feel the thud of our combined heartbeat, as we breathed each other in.A phone ringing made him pull away from the kiss. I suddenly let out a huge breath, although sad about the disturbance. He rose, giving a little distance, brought his phone out of his pocket, and saw the caller ID.His frown made me know who was calling, but he just dropped it."Won't you....""Please." He pleaded.I just nodded."I'll just call him tomorrow. It's late. If it's important, he'll text me." He explained.I felt really good about the fact that he was even giving me an explanation, and I nodded with a slight smile. He equally nodded, but then he looked down at me, and I would have thought he was looking at my breasts, but it doesn't look like he is.My thoughts were confirmed when he placed his left hand on my stomach, rubbing it as he feels my baby bump. I felt a tingling sensation just by that, especially since he hasn't done it since the discovery. It felt good.I didn't know what was going on in his mind, but he was definitely thinking something, but not saying anything."It's growing you know?" I informed him. I noticed that I was already showing earlier today. He nodded. "I can feel it."I just smiled.A huge sigh came out of him, and he looked at me. "You should rest. You should sleep."I nodded. "Yeah."He removed his hand and completely rose up off me. "I'll be here when you need me."He stood up and sat on the chair."It doesn't seem comfortable."He shook his head. "It isn't.""Can't you lie with me?" I asked expectedly."I'll feel uncomfortable."I raised a brow. "But you don't feel that way as far as I know."He nodded. "I just fear you might push me off the bed."My eyes gaped widely. "What? No, I won't."He just shrugged. "The bed isn't wide enough is what I'm saying. It's lacking space, and you might feel suffocated."I don't feel suffocated by him. I feel warmth. But then, it's because he cares."Don't worry, I'm here." He assured me.I just smiled. I don't know what to say anymore.ALEXA'S POV.2 days later. (August 20th Friday.)I felt a hand wrap around my swollen stomach, as I switched off my gas cooker. Leo laid a kiss on the left side of my neck making me sigh at the feeling. The feeling he's been giving me for a while now... Probably because I'm pregnant. Don't know."I was gonna go wake you up," I informed."Hmm." Was his answer, as he kept giving me kisses.I turned around to look at him and placed my hands on his arms which were still wrapped around me. "We should eat then.""Hmm..." He trailed off.I was beginning to wonder what his problem was."Have I done something bad to the extent that I don't deserve a good morning kiss?" He asked. My eyes widened. "Oh." I smiled. "Sorry."He nodded waiting for it.Oh. Oh, he's gonna let me go for it instead. He raised a brow at me impatiently waiting.I blinked. I think my body is shaking, and I could see a slight smirk on his face. He's obviously liking this.I feel transparent right now because it was obvious
LEONARD POV."Hey, man!" I heard the voice of the person I'd been standing in this park waiting for. Luckily for him, I'm not angry. It was actually fun watching as kids play, and laugh like there is no care for the world. It makes me imagine the feeling I'll get to watch my own child laugh, and play like that. I don't even know the kind of father I'll be, or who I'll be a father to. A boy or a girl. One thing I know damn sure is, I'm not gonna be a father like my father."Are you ignoring me, Leonard?"I looked at him. "You made me wait, Nick.""I was caught in traffic. I can't control traffic.""Then why wasn't I?" I asked feeling a spark of anger. He noticed me. "Chill, man. What's getting you all worked up? I'm sure it's not me."I sighed. "Nothing."He raised his brow. "Really?"I shook my head. "It's just my wife."His eyes widened. "Whoa. She's getting to you.""Not really. She just wants something that I can't offer. She went all moody on me today because of that. We argue a l
ALEXA'S POV.Five days later. (August 25th Wednesday.)..I stood in front of the mirror, staring at my already swollen stomach. Not too swollen, but very very visible that my top can no longer hideToday marks fourteen weeks, and five days of my pregnancy which Leonard has been waiting impatiently hard for since it is my appointment for my first ultrasound. He really wants to see the sex of our baby. He's excited about it."Babe. You're wasting time there. I'm waiting." Leonard's voice boomed from downstairs. You see what I said? Left to me, I would have wanted to be surprised, but my husband doesn't seem to like surprises."BABE!" He yelled again."I'm almost done, I'll be there," I yelled back.I dropped my top to cover back my stomach with a sigh, as I can't help staring at myself. The changes in my body are hard to miss. I'm adding weight, and I don't know if I should be scared.I'm sure Leonard has noticed it, but he still treats me well. I guess I have absolutely nothing to wo
ALEXA'S POV.It was night, and time to sleep, but my head couldn't stop circling around my husband confessing his love for me.I do love him, but I still feel doubt because he's secretive, and he doesn't trust me enough to rely on me.Although it's not easy to open up to someone, maybe that's why it's taking time for him.The door opened, and he entered in. He can't even make his calls around me. He had to leave to make a call. It bothers me.He climbed the bed, laid down, and threw his right hand over me, his arm on my stomach.I felt like wanting to know who he was talking to, but I decided I shouldn't spoil the mood. I tend to do that."Babe." He called, his eyes closed."Hmm," I responded."Stop thinking, and sleep. Your thoughts could disturb the babies from sleeping too."I chuckled at his statement. I wonder what is in his head, especially about pregnancy. He always has crazy things to say. He can be crazy."It's late. Quit it." He said again.I just smiled, and then I turned,
LEONARD'S POV.August 27th Friday.I sighed as I'd been doing for the umpteenth time. There's a lot of work for me to do, but I haven't even gotten anywhere.I need to make things right. I can't...I can't lose my family. A family that even if the world is turned upside down, I still wouldn't have believed I'll have. Now I have to be a responsible husband and father and vanish the enemies that happen to surround us.It's just... It's just that I only have a limited time, and with that little time, I'm not sure what can be accomplished.I have to be fast, cause even with that little time, the enemies could pull one over me. They could present to me the unexpected. I don't want things to be too late."Mr. Hodge"I turned to look who I'd been waiting for. A spark to getting my job done. Just hope it lights.I stood up from the bench I sat on, and we shook hands."I wasn't really expecting we'll be meeting in a park." He said looking around.I nodded. "That's right, but don't fret. I'm jus
LEONARD'S POV.It's late now, and we are already settled on the bed ready to sleep. I couldn't help but keep staring at my wife who doesn't seem to be in a good mood and seemed lost in thoughts. It kinda bugs me. I wonder what has gotten into her."Babe," I called her for the nth time, but she refused to answer me. She kept ignoring me.I sighed. I was planning on taking her out tomorrow, but with this sudden behavior of hers, I'm not so sure anymore.Something is definitely going on in her head. Obviously about me.I hope she's not thinking twice about...My phone ringing distracted me from my thoughts but happened to get my wife to look at me.I slowly sat up, carrying my phone off the vanity. I furrowed my brows at the caller ID."Who's calling you at night?" Alexa suddenly asked. And here I thought she lost her sense of speech.I looked at her. "A friend."I stood up and walked straight to the door on my way out of it."Can't you answer the call in here? Or is there something stop
3RD PERSON POV.Lion, the boss's right-hand man, and Owen, his left-hand man walked to where their boss sat since they were called by him."You sent for us, boss." Lion acknowledged. The boss nodded. "Yes, I did.""What is it about?" Owen asked with interest."I heard the drug trafficking was a success." The boss began.Lion nodded. "Yes, Sir. We were going to report it to you.""What about the gun smuggling?" He asked."It was equally a success. Luckily, the police don't have an inkling of who we are." Lion reported."I told you guys I hate receiving information from rumors, didn't I?"They both nodded."Apologies, boss," Owen said with a bow."I want things to really go smoothly. I'd hate if the police are on to us. None of us have been caught, right?" The boss asked. They shook their head."None, Sir."The boss nodded. "Good.""Anything else, boss?" Lion asked. The boss sighed and stood up. "As you know, my life's plan has been postponed, but I need you two to work out things for m
ALEXA'S POV.Four days later. (September 1st. Wednesday.)What am I gonna do? I feel so stupid as I'm in the middle of things that I can't comprehend. Everybody around me seems to be suspicious. My godfather. My husband. Even my friends.Weirdly, we don't always talk like before, and I have a theory about why? It's because they're scared that they might let something slip.I already feel stupid, but I wonder if they actually think that I'm that stupid to not notice those kinda things.Wait... I need to put these things together from the time my doubts all started.I leaned back on my office chair as I circle around in thoughts searching for the time my suspicions started arousing.Oh yeah. I was in the hospital, and they made a statement about how my pregnancy shouldn't be in the way of my going back to work. It shouldn't be suspicious, except for the fact that they changed their thoughts, and that I should wait til I give birth. That was suspicious, right? Enough for me to suspect th
The greatest shock Alexa received in all her life was when Leo knelt down on the ground with a ring in hand and ask the question she has never heard anyone ask her. "Will you marry me?"She was overwhelmed by that question. It was totally unexpected. Out of nowhere. It officially became one of the happiest days of her life. Her smile was broad and uncontrollable, and after saying yes, immediately after he stood up, she engulfed him in a hug.Their kids and friends just stood there happy since it was all planned by all of them. The wedding was not that grand, but it was perfect. The happy smiles on their face made things different from when they had their first. This time, there was love in their eyes. They were happy as they looked at each other.Back then, it was just pain, confusion, and different negative thoughts in their heads when they were about to join them together. There was just no smile on their faces no matter how much they wanted to force it.It's funny how different thi
Throughout, the kids were restless since they have no idea what was going on. They haven't seen their mom and their dad since he saved them from the wicked men."I'm pretty sure everything is going to be fine," Joseph spoke out, shaking his head at their brooding expressions as he came out of the kitchen."Don't talk to us, Joseph." Damien shunned him in a bad mood.Joseph took a seat on the couch by their left. "I understand you guys detest me, but I'm sure you've understood why. I'm not a bad person, you know."Damien scoffed. "Whatever.""He's right." James chimed in, coming out of his room. He closed his door shut and walked closer to the kids. "He's also a victim." He made known, sitting down on the couch opposite Joseph. The kids kept quiet wanting him to talk further."He's a kid without parents. Homeless. He saw an opportunity and grabbed it. He's sorry for everything he did just because he was looking out for himself. He's also helped to save a lot of kids like Kara. The cops
Leo's eyes widened in shock and horror as he held his wife firmly from falling to the floor. "Oh, my God."Alexa was choking as she was finding it hard to breathe, blood spilling from her mouth and the part she got shot which was her back.Leo knelt on the ground with her in his arms still in shock at what happened. He couldn't believe it. His... His wife got shot. "Alexa." It came out with a shaky breath. Her breathing was heavy, she was finding it hard to even say anything to him."We need an ambulance." Leo's voice came out shaky once again, but the war was still going on."This shouldn't have happened." The boss's voice was filled with regret."I'm sorry, boss. She came in the way." Mason apologized.Leo sighted Harrison and his goon hiding and immediately knew they were the ones who shot his wife. He knew they were hiding, but he thought it was just to save themselves from being shot.Fury tore through him. He didn't wanna kill anyone, but he was not ready for that man to go scot
(November 3rd. Wednesday)Leo stopped his car and came out of it arriving at the place Harrison Lewis said they should meet. It was like an isolated express where people and cars don't really pass through. His eyes were fixated on the old man and the other guy standing next to him and behind them was their car.It was obvious the old man was Harrison Lewis and it made him realize he actually never met him til now."It's an honor to meet you, Leonard Hodge. I'm honest." Harrison said with a smile.Leo looked around the old man since there was just one thing on his mind and that was saving his precious kids."Where are my kids?" Leo asked really wanting to see them.Harrison nodded. "Yeah." He looked at Mason. "Bring them out."Mason nodded walked to the car and opened it. He urged the kids to come out which they immediately did since they saw their father.Leo's eyes softened as he saw his kids. He was in relief seeing as they were looking fine.As Aria was about to run to her dad, Mas
The boss looked around the whole room, nodding his head and showing how pleased he was with it. "I didn't know you bought a house here, Mason."Mason nodded. "Yes, boss. It was actually for a reason, though."The boss looked at him. "I'm thankful you came back, but I've been having this burning question. How did you know?"Mason sighed. "It's Carmen, boss.""Carmen? Don't understand.""You said I should trail her on which I did. I was shocked when I heard her speaking to Leo via voicemail about what she's done for him. She was...she was the traitor, boss."The boss blinked and stumbled back a little due to missing his steps. "No. No way."Mason nodded. "It shocked and angered me. It was through her I know of the raid."The boss let out a shaky breath, finding it unbelievable. "Can't believe this. Where's she now?"Mason looked away. "I had no choice.""No choice on what?" The boss asked inquisitively."My...my anger got the best of me, boss. I shot her on the spot." Mason dropped hopi
Leonard's heart felt like it was put on a stake as he kept pacing on the porch of his house, looking worried and extremely restless. It's been hours since the mission to get his kids safe and sound, but he hasn't gotten anything. All he could get was a stupid voicemail from Carmen making him wonder how much senseless she can be.His phone began ringing making him stop in his tracks. He looked to see it was Emily and for some reason, he just felt there was bad news coming and he could only hope he was wrong."Emily..." He said after taking a calm breath. He heard her clear her throat making him sigh. "Don't tell me it's bad news.""I'm sorry, Leo. We had it all covered thinking everyone was where they were meant to be, but we were taken by surprise. Harrison Lewis and one other together with your kids escaped."Leo rubbed his head in frustration, feeling so annoyed and knowing the choice he was now left with. "We failed then. We lost our only chance.""Leo, there could be another way."
(NOVEMBER 2ND. WEDNESDAY.)"So tell me, Mason. Are you on her tail?" The boss asked over the phone.Mason nodded. "Yes, boss, but why? Why am I following her?"The boss shook his head. "Don't know. I just have a gut that she's up to something.""Something like what?"The boss sighed. "That girl has been calm lately. She doesn't come to me anymore...it's like she's creating an arm's length between us. She doesn't even talk about the anger she has toward the Hodges like she does then, so I'm having a wild feeling that something is not right with her.""And what do you think you'll get, boss?" Mason asked as he tailed Carmen carefully."Don't know. I feel she's sleeping with another man. She probably met someone to abandon me for and I won't condone that, because when I saved her, there was a pact between us."She's meant to be his if she wanted the whole world which is something he could provide for her."And what if she's betraying you, boss? What should I do?" Mason felt like asking.
"Ring. Ring. Ring."Leo's phone began ringing cutting short a long conversation as he attempted to calm Alexa down, telling her everything was gonna be fine since she couldn't stop complaining and then sobbing and then crying, showing how sad she was that their kids weren't with them. He's also sad, but all he's gotta do without choice is try calming Alexa down.He sighed, picked up his phone from where he kept it and looked at the familiar number. It was Damon's. He blinked at it, definitely knowing it wasn't his son, but his enemy.A call he's been impatiently waiting for.He answered the call. "Harrison Lewis." It sounded more like an inquiry.Alexa gently sat up, her gaze fixated on Leo, looking curious. He heard the man chuckle. "Of course, you guys cracked that. Damn it's been so long since I've heard my name.""I know everything, Mr. Lewis. Yes, I cracked a lot, but what is it you really want? How stupidly far can you go, since after all, you started stupid?"Alexa let out a wo
Carmen shook her head with a smile at the little kids in front of her. The boys just sat on the one bed inside the cage, quiet and sad, while the girl just lay down."So these are Leonard Hodge's little devils. I've heard so much."The boys looked up at her, recognizing her. She's Kara's mother. But they just looked away. No matter how strong they act, in the end, the reality of them being kidnapped, and taken from their parents were getting to them."Oh, look how sad you are." Carmen pouted at their facial expressions. "You are supposed to be tough, right?"Aria started sobbing obviously tired of what was happening. Missing her mom and dad. She doesn't know how long she can bear it.The heat due to lack of AC and the fear of eating their food that might be contaminated. Everything was so disgusting to her and it tired her. It felt like she was in jail. Now she knows why people don't like jail.Damon sighed as Aria's crying wasn't helping matters. He had to confess, that urge to also
