The conference hall was full of prominent and significant high-positioned individuals. While scanning my eyes throughout the interior of the hall, I saw Mr. Ford Montenegro as well as the chairman. When they both saw me, they just briefly scanned my appearance and shook their heads in dismay.

I unconsciously looked at my outfit. I am currently wearing a black blazer with white spaghetti underneath it. My black pencil skirt is fitted and above the knee, making my long legs exposed. The pair of my black heels is also new and branded.

I think I look okay, but why are the chairman and Darwin’s gazing at me like I am a disgusting human being?

But just like my attitude, I remained unbothered, because I know my worth.

When people try to make you feel worthless, remember that they can see your worth and are trying to destroy it, caused by their insecurities they can’t handle very well.

“Mr. Montenegro,” I mumbled and furrowed my eyebrows. “What are you… doing here?”“Close the door,” he commanded and directed his face in front of him. “I don’t want my son to know that I am here.”I inhaled sharply and reciprocated his gaze.First things first, I do not trust the chairman. Especially with the memory of him harassing me if Darwin did not just intrude between us. I know that he is the boss of my boss --- not to mention the biological factor that the chairman is Darwin’s father --- so whatever this situation he is going to pull out, I have to handle it very well, but this time, without the vice chairman’s help.“Good day, Mr. Montenegro,” I started with a polite greeting and started walking towards the drawing area. “I brought some snacks that are designated to be eaten by the vice chairman. “I’m sorry, okay?” Darwin bugged me while I was pulling the cart on the second aisle. “It’s just that I want to help.”I did not talk to him and just continued looking for valuable products on the shelves. I am irritated as of now, and he is following me like a dog behind me. I heard him mutter some series of bad curses. While holding a can of spam, I simply slid my eyes on the circled mirror above the shelf, making me see Darwin’s casual outfit. He is currently wearing a tight white t-shirt, tracing his biceps and muscles. He was also on urban shorts and a pair of rubber shoes. If I remember, he is already thirty-one years old, and yet, he looks like he is still in twenty’s. I wonder if I look old. I am twenty-nine, all right? And I am anxious that my appearance is aging fast!“Jill…” he tugged my t-shirt. “Please… why d

The women looking at Darwin while going outside the convenience store irritated me the whole time. Because he offered a ride for the same route, I could not find a valid reason to refuse him since we are going the same way, into my apartment.“Are you tired?” Darwin asked beside me while he is driving his vehicle. “You are so silent. I am not used to it.”I flashed a smile from my frowning face before turning to him. “No, sir. I just don’t have anything to say,” I explained. He stared at me for a while as if he is analyzing if I am saying the truth. After that, he shook his head before gazing at the road.“Your smile is papery and insincere. You’re faking it. Forced,” he described and shot his eyebrow. “Did I do something wrong? Or are you still upset about the pads?”I felt my cheeks flushing because he still has to mention the pads. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms, making him look at me again.“And now you are showing your true feeling,” he said. “Just tell me, Jill. We are fri

My jaw was dropping the whole time I watched him cook the ingredients we bought from the convenience store. He skillfully chopped the vegetables, made preparations for Italian pasta, and even dominated the whole stove. It was so natural for him to flip the frying pan while the meat is being cooked.“Hey, I think you are salivating too much,” Darwin teased when he noticed that I was hanging my mouth while watching him cook beside me. “Do you want to taste my meat?”I unconsciously nodded while looking at the meat he was cooking. I saw him smirking playfully before he removed the meat from the frying pan. Using a slotted turner, he placed the meat on a clean ceramic plate. He withdrew a spoon and a dining knife from a rack, giving them to me.Oh, my goodness. His meat looks so delicious!Without further ado, I accepted the utensils and started to slice the juicy meat. When I have forked it successfully, I looked at it with amusement before eating and chewing it languidly. My eyes widene

I kept glancing at Darwin who is now watching television in the living area, while I am washing the dishes in the sink. I looked at my air conditioner and checked if its coldness is enough for him to be not hot. I sighed when I confirmed that it is okay.“Are you finished?” he asked from the living area.“Almost!” I answered back.“Can I just grab your laptop for you from your room?” he offered.“No, thanks!” I abruptly refused. No, not my room! I am not a dirty person, and safety and sanity are my utmost priorities when it comes to cleanliness. But when we are going to talk about the organization of things, I would rather leave my cup of tea on the table. When I was done cleaning the whole kitchen, I immediately went to my room without glancing back at Darwin. I changed home shorts and a spaghetti top that exposed my formed collarbones. I only have peignoirs because I easily get hot if I wear pajamas that I threw away due to their long history of usage.I went out of my room with my

“Do you want another batch of popcorn?” I asked Darwin when the bowl we were sharing from the glass table is now empty.“No. Just stay here and let’s finish the movie,” he informed me, so I nodded and just comfortably leaned against the backrest of the sofa not far away from him.We are currently watching the movie ‘Jumanji’ which is very popular nowadays among teenagers. I was the one who recommended it because I look up to Dwayne Johnson a lot and I also want to see Darwin be amused by my idol. However, we are now in the middle of the movie, and every time I gaze at him to check if he is astonished by the actor, I would merely furrow my eyebrows because he was just deadpan and listless.Like hello? He is watching the most amazing actor in the whole world which is based on my perception, and he is just… bestowing uninterest towards The Rock?“Do you enjoy the movie?” I could not help myself anymore but ask. He turned to me. “Yes,” he said coldly. “I am profoundly entertained.”I twi

"I did not like any of the women you showed me," Darwin suddenly said in the middle of our silence while watching the tv in front of us. "They don't interest me that much."I furrowed my eyebrows and shifted my weight while sitting down on the sofa. "What? But I made sure that they are from well-known and rich families here in the Philippines," I elucidated and made hand demonstrations in the air. "Why can't you like them?""They are not beautiful enough for me."My jaw dropped and chuckled while shaking my head in disbelief. "I'm sorry, but you've got to be kidding me," I commented. "All of the women I showed you are beautiful. They are very elegant and some are former models when they are still teenagers.""I have another definition of a beautiful woman and I did not see that through them."I crossed my arms and said, "Then what is your definition of a beautiful woman? "You're kidding me," I said it again more emphatically this time. "Look, this is my advice for you as a casual friend of yours. If you want to include yourself into a serious and a romantic relationship, you have to take risk and try it, you know?"He turned to me profoundly and shifted his weight so he can confront me. "I have no experience in romantic relationships that you are telling me," he stated and gazed at my side as if thinking something. He cleared his throat before he focused his eyes on me. "Romantic relationships are not my thing.""That is obvious on a stern man like you," I frankly said, which made him frown. Hindi sa padabog ako kumain ulit, pero nagpatuloy ako nang nakasimangot. Ramdam ko pa ang tingin ng kapatid kong babae sa akin, pero hindi ko na siya tiningnan pa. I don’t know if I am just being paranoid that I keep noticing the vice chairman slowly having a fondness in hanging out with me. He would just casually arrive in front of my apartment, because he would like to watch movies and cook meals in the kitchen. I hung my jaw and looked around in the lobby, discerning if some employees are watching us, and thankfully, they are busy.“Mr. Montenegro,” I called him with almost shutting my eyes in fluster when I turned to him. “You have to understand that you are not supposed to do this.”He frowned and sighed boredly. “Let me guess; because you are my secretary and it is not my job to serve you on the other hand,” he said and crossed his arms. “But this does not concern anyone, Jill.
