...Saturday...
My alarm went off at 6 am- the same time I have it set every day of the week. I wanted to get in a quick workout before I had to work. Since I was working from home, I was able to have a slightly longer workout. So I decided to go for a run since I didn't have to be in the office. I was halfway into my run when my Earpods signalled that I was getting a call.
I double tapped the right headphone to answer the call.
"Damian Stone." I said professionally into the speaker, not knowing who had called me.
"Dame. I need you to go to a meeting on my behalf." Zane said.
"Zane? What's up, bro? Why can't you go yourself?" I asked my brother.
"I'm still in England right now, and one of our clients is having a fit. I need you to go there and smooth everything over with them."
"Who? And what's wrong?" I ask.
"Benjamin Fonacali. He seems to be under the impression that he's been hacked." My brother began. From his tone, I could tell he was rolling his eyes, just like I was.
Benjamin is a very proud but idiotic councilman. Whenever he can't get something to work, immediately he's under the impression that he's been hacked. It was funny at first. But now it's just getting irritating. Benjamin continually threatened to end the contract, pleading that we gave him faulty products. The only reason we haven't just ended his contract was because of his status. Even though his claims were illegitimate, he still had a powerful word of mouth. If people thought our products could be hacked, we could say goodbye to our business. Who wants tech devices that can be easily hacked?
I ran my hand along my forehead, closing my eyes, as I sighed into the speaker.
"Do I really need to go? Couldn't you just ask one of the Stonticians?" I ask, referring to the numerous amount of tech wizards we employed. Since they work for us, we like to call them the Stonticians- referring to Stone Technicians. It was a fun play of words my brother and I had called ourselves when his company was merely but a dream. The name just stuck.
"No. It has to be you. You know how Benjamin is. If anyone other than you or me go, he'll make a big thing out of it." Zane sighs.
I sigh into the phone, placing a hand on my hip. I know Zane is right. I may not be as good as my brother, but we went to MIT. We both graduated with honours. I was just more interested in the business side of things, whereas my brother gravitated to the tech side. So while my brother was the true face of the company, I played a large part in its success. I held just as much weight as my brother did. Even though I wasn't CEO. I still had a high-ranking role within the company.
"Fine. I'll do it. Does it have to be today? Or can I go tomorrow?" I ask.
"Damian Maverick Stone." Zane said, irritated. Zane only ever called me by my full name if he was mad at me or trying to act professionally. Given the current scenario, it was easy to rule out it wasn't the latter.
"All right. I got it—no need to get your panties in a twist. I'll go today. It may just be a bit more difficult, that's all."
"Do I even wanna know?" Zane sighed.
"Let's just say that I don't exactly have access to a car right now.." I began.
"I don't even know how that's possible when you own like five of them, not even including your three drivers."
"Well, let's just say that I'm considering getting a fourth and perhaps another car."
"But you never drive!"
"That's not true. I just don't have a lot of time."
"The point?"
"The point is, if you want me to see Benjamin today, you need to let me go, so I can figure out how that's even possible." I say, rolling my eyes.
"Fine. Whatever. Oh, and one more thing. Bill called me. We need to talk when I get back." Zane said pointedly. He disconnected the call right after.
I couldn't say I was surprised. After all, I knew he had called my brother. I just wasn't looking forward to this 'talk' with my brother. Ever since we were kids, my brother was the studious good child. Whereas I was always the miscreant. When I was younger, I did it as a way to get attention. Once my father ran out on us, I began to act out even more. In my own way, I think it was a coping mechanism to dealing with the abandonment of my father. While I would tell myself that his absence never affected me, deep down, I knew I was lying to myself. My rebellious nature grew tenfold. I had your classic bad boy angst when I was younger. I got a full sleeve tattoo and started smoking before my fourteenth birthday. I started sleeping around and even committed a few B&Es. I probably would've been in jail if it wasn't for my brother. Thankfully for me, Zane was a prodigal hacker and would manage to scrub my misdoings so they could never be connected to me. So, in a way, I think his helping me might have been detrimental to me. As I knew, if I was ever caught, my brother could save me. I went from minor misdemeanours to major felonies. In my past, I've committed several different types of felonies. From, but not limited to, arson, fraud, forgery, vandalism, even high-speed car chases and drug possession. I was your classic bad boy without a care in the world.
Thankfully, by the time I was done high school, I had grown out of that stage. Now, all I do is sleep around a lot. Though I typically try to be a bit more subtle about it. My actions with Bill last night were probably the most public I've made my actions known in a long time. I know it was petty, but Bill just brings out the worst in me for some reason. I think part of it is because he reminds me of my own dad. He never liked me; rather, he only ever loved my brother. I remember feeling disappointed in myself for my own father not liking me. I tried my best to be more like Zane, hoping that he would approve of me. But, regardless of what I did, my father never paid attention to me.
I gave up on my run and made my way back to my condo. I contacted my assistant Zach to help me figure out how I was meant to get to Boston. As if it wasn't hinder-some enough that we had to visit Benjamin in person, the worst part was that I had to go all the way to Boston. Manhattan to Boston was typically a three-hour drive. However, by air, it would just be an hour.
Even though Zach was my assistant, he was also the closest thing I've ever had to a best friend. We were quite close and had more of a relaxed relationship. We both felt comfortable talking to each other about our conquests and would often meet up after work at one of the clubs. I considered him like a brother. He had been my assistant for nearly five years now. He's been loyal to me from the get-go.
I showered and changed quickly. Zach had managed to get me on a direct flight to Boston. However, being a weekend and on short notice meant that it was difficult to arrange a flight back. Not only that, but we weren't even sure how long I'd be. I asked him to watch the flight times and let me know if there were any complications. Since I would be in a meeting all day, I wouldn't have time to track flights.
After a gruelling day, I finally managed to get on a late flight back to JFK. I would still need to figure out how to get back from the airport, but I wasn't concerned about that right now. I would probably just take a taxi.
I leaned back in my seat, utterly exhausted. Benjamin had kept me at his office all day. What he had assumed was malware was actually just a failed update. It turned out that the tenants in the office building they shared had turned the power off during the middle of the night as they were working on the electrical panels. Since our systems normally perform their updates overnight, the systems misfired because they were missing the update. It was a simple fix, not that Benjamin cared. Rather, he kept me there the remainder of the day to ensure no other computers had any issues. Zane would owe me for doing this. There were so many things I needed to get done and didn't get a chance to do anything. So I was just grateful to be heading back finally. I couldn't wait to jump in my bed and go to sleep.
Though it seemed as though someone had it out for me, when I arrived at JFK, I found out that there was a major sports event happening in downtown New York, which meant that all the cabs were unavailable. As if that wasn't bad enough, every car rental agency was also completely booked. So I decided to call Zach.
"ZACH! What the hell?! Why didn't you tell me that I wasn't going to be able to get home tonight?" I ask, furious.
"What do you mean?"
"WHAT DO I MEAN?!" I asked, incredulous.
"WHAT I MEAN IS HOW THERE ARE NO CARS OR TAXIS AVAILABLE!" I yelled. I noticed people around me were staring, but I couldn't be bothered. I was pissed. Not because of Zach or the lack of cars, but rather because I just needed to get home.
The line remained silent for a while. I could hear the familiar clicks as Zach typed away furiously on the keyboard. Then, after a brief pause, I heard him pick up the phone.
"There may not be any cars, but I found the next best thing."
"What?"
"The bus."
"As in a public bus?"
"What other bus would I be talking about?"
"I don't know! A party bus?"
"Really? That's what you're thinking of right now?"
"Well, I can't deny that I need to relieve some tension right about now."
"Perhaps you'll find someone on the bus?" He replied, making me roll my eyes.
All of a sudden, I saw this stunning blonde rush past me. She didn't seem to notice anyone around her as she almost ploughed into me. I grabbed her arm protectively, afraid she might fall from the contact. I stood there stunned as she turned to look at me. Not only was she stunning, but she had the most incredible eyes I've ever seen. In the light, they actually looked purple. Then, depending on how she looked at me, her eyes appeared to change colours from blue to purple. It was absolutely mesmerizing. I've never even had these thoughts about a woman before. Typically I just notice their curves and go from there. But this girl was different.
"Oh! I'm so sorry! I didn't see you there." She said, pausing momentarily.
"That's fine. Don't worry about it. I'm just glad you didn't get hurt."
I noticed how she blushed from my comment and found myself smiling at her innocence.
"Anyways. I better get going. I'm going to be late." She said, turning away from me.
I watched as she ran towards the bus stop where the bus was waiting. She quickly dashed on board and found a nearby seat.
"Dude... you still there?" I heard Zach ask me over the phone.
I had temporarily forgotten that I was talking to him.
"Ya. Right. I think you're right. I'll take the bus." I said and quickly ended the call. It's been nearly a decade since I've last been on a bus. But in any hope, this bus trip would prove to be beneficial in more than one way.
I ran towards the bus and climbed on board. The driver looked confused. I quickly pulled out one of my black cards and paid the driver. I wasn't even sure where this bus was going. I just hoped that I could get home somehow.
...Haley POV...I've been in New York for a week now. Jess has been amazing at making me feel at home. I spent the first-day unpacking; then she brought me to her favourite restaurant. It was really cool. It didn't have a pre-set menu like most restaurants. Instead, the chef would surprise you with their creations. You could let them know some things that you didn't like. But other than that, you'd be sitting on the edge of your seat desperately wanting to know what they'd be giving you to eat. So I absolutely fell in love with this restaurant. Since Jess and I are adventurous eaters, this was literally the restaurant of our dreams. On Monday, we went shopping. Even though I didn't need a lot, Jess managed to talk me into getting quite a lot. Our cab was filled to the brim with all of our purchases. Jess and I then spent the next few days finding a place for me to stay. It took a while, but finally, I found this remarkable place. It was a condo, opposed to an apartment which was what
...Damian POV...It's been nearly two weeks since I last saw Zane. He had been working on the acquisition in Europe and had been spending a lot of his time there. He was planning to be back here later today. He had caught an earlier flight and had wanted to meet me at one of the clubs tonight. I didn't mind, as I'd already agreed to meet with him at the club anyways. He was going to give me an update about the woman that had broken into my garage and smashed my cars. I was more curious about how she managed to locate where I lived more than anything else. I made sure when I bought my place that no one could associate it with me. I needed to make sure that people couldn't find me. I had created a fake alias that I use in cases such as this one. Since Zach was the one that finalized all the agreements, not even the real-estate agent knew who was actually purchasing the property. I guess, in a way, I took some pointers from Walt Disney. Because of my secrecy, I found myself curious as t
"Right. Well, we've come up with a total of eight rules, that you will have to abide by in order to accomplish this challenge." Zane explains."Rule 1: You by no means are to disclose the details of this challenge with the person we deem fit.""Rule 2: You must remain with the person for a minimum of six months. Longer would be preferred.""Rule 3: There is to be no philandering of any kind throughout the duration of the challenge. You are to remain monogamous at all times.""Rule 4: You must work on maintaining the relationship.""Rule 5: You must also put in the effort to keep the relationship.""Wait.. hold on. What is the difference between rule four and five?" I ask."Rule four is mostly referring to you being able to build the relationship. Getting to know her, surprising her, making her happy, etc. Whereas rule five is more about ensuring the relationship lasts. So, listening to her. Being there for her. Holding her when she's upset. Celebrating in her wins and achievements. Bu
"So what was that?" Jess asks, walking towards me.I look to see her standing in front of me with her arms crossed. Liam had also disappeared. "What was what?" I ask, sheepishly.Jess just rolls her eyes at me."Do you even know who that was?" She asks, skipping over her original question."No. Was I supposed to?" I ask, genuinely wondering."That was THE Damian Stone!" She says, as if I'm stupid for not knowing this.I look at her with a blank expression on my face. Wondering what the big deal is. I've never heard of him. Is it an American thing? Perhaps Jess only knows because she's been in the States for a year now. When she sees that I have no intention of responding, she face palms the explains who Damian is."You out of all people should know who the guy is. Afterall, he only happens to be your boss.""What? No, actually Michael Hall is my boss. Stone Enterprise is my client. Plus, I've only dealt with Zane Stone. No one mentioned this Damian guy." I say, backing myself up. Jus
The weekend passed quickly, and soon I was getting ready for my first day at work at Stone Enterprises. There was so much that I needed to go over. I was basically starting with nothing. The only requirement that they had given us for this job was to include their technology within the design. It was going to be a challenge, but one that I was excited to begin. I would need to spend time with Zane in order to understand their technology better. Once I had a better idea, I would be better able to include it in the designs. Until I understood more about their products, I wouldn't even be able to begin to draw out a design.I was excited for this new venture. It would do wonders for my career. I had often dreamed of owning my own company, and if this went well, I might even have that chance to do so. I showered quickly, then got changed. I decided to wear a skin-tight black skirt with a bright red chiffon long-sleeved blouse. I added a matching pair of Louis Vuitton black heels. I thoug
...Damian POV...Last night was an absolute blast. Tiffany or Tonia was an absolute bomb. Much better personality when she was silent, however. She definitely had the gift of the gab. Once she started, there was no stopping her. The only way I could silence her was by kissing her. I just hated that every time I kissed her, I would think of that woman from earlier. Haley? I think her friend had said. That kiss we shared was beyond amazing. It was easy to find myself lost in her presence. The way she held herself was beyond anything that I'd ever seen before. She was absolutely captivating. She had this seductive confidence about her. I found myself hypnotized in her presence, often wondering about what it would be like to date her. Each time I found myself going down that rabbit hole, I would quickly shake it off. I'm a bachelor and have no intentions of changing that anytime soon. Though that reminds me of my conversation with Zane and Liam. I had reluctantly agreed to their messed-u
...Haley POV...I couldn't believe it. I had just finished ranting about how he had the audacity to confuse me as one of his marks, and how I regretted coming here in the first place, and how does he respond? He kisses me. He freaking kissed me. I couldn't deny that I may have answered his kiss, but it was just so unexpected. It was probably the best kiss I had ever had, but that wasn't the point. The point was, that I was mad at him. I was mad that the only thing he thought I was, was an eager woman trying to pursue him. "What was that for?" He asked. I could be wrong, but it actually looked hurt for a moment. I tried not to dwell on it. I needed to be focused."Seriously? I tell you how mad I am with you and how annoyed I am with your company, and your first response is to kiss me?" I say, getting us back on track."I'm sorry. I don't know what to say. I knew it was wrong. It's just.." He began, only to cut himself off. I cocked my heading wishing he would continue that sentence. I
...Damian POV...'This is bad. This is really bad.' I thought to myself as I watched her work on the desk in front of mine. After our lunch with Zane, Haley and I had come back to my office to begin working on the design for the new building. Rather she was working, while I stared at her from my computer. I couldn't help myself. It was as if I was enchanted by her or something. Perhaps it was just because I haven't slept with her. I'm not used to being with a woman I haven't slept with before. We had kissed a few times now, but not once did we take things further. I felt so confused. When Zane first told me that I would be the one working with her, I felt absolutely elated. Even though we had made an agreement to keep our relationship professional, it was only a matter of time until I had her in my bed. No one could resist me. I'm Damian freakin Stone after all. No one ever said no to me.We were just about to call it a day when Haley's hone began to ring. She looked at me as if sile
...Fifteen Years Later......Haley POV...It's hard to believe that Damian and I have been married for fifteen years already. So much has happened in such a short amount of time. We experienced so many firsts together. First the birth of the twins, their first steps, as well as Sienna's first steps. Then there was preschool, middle school, high school, along with so many more precious memories. I couldn't believe how fast time had gone by. It seemed as though we were just saying our vows, but as I look at our kids playing in the backyard, a smile creeps on my face.I still remember that day as if it was yesterday. After our impromptu wedding, Damian took me aside to explain what had happened. He was just amazed that I had pulled it off without a hitch. Little did he realize how much help I received. After his initial shock wore off, I decided to explain to him why I had chosen that particular venue for our wedding. When he realized that the home we were at was ours, he was over the mo
I felt on edge. Was I seeing properly? When I had taken the turn around the house, I had face to face with a large crowd. They all immediately jumped to their chairs and clapped. My eyes went wide in astonishment. What in the sam's blazes was going on right now?My eyes scanned the crowd which is when I noticed a bunch of familiar faces. I saw Haley's parents holding Sienna, Luca, Jace, Zach, as well as a bunch of Haley's relatives. I recognized a bunch of our friends faces before turning to see what looked like a stage. The entire location looked like it was decorated for a wedding. But what on earth was going on?Zane passed Maverick over to Zach before he made his way over to me. "Are you ready?" He asks, clapping me on the back."For what? What's going on?" I ask."Why don't you coo and find out?" Zane remarks, pulling me with him down the aisle towards the stage. He pushes me into place as I stand frozen, unable to move. My mind is spinning a million miles a minute. It's as if
...Two Weeks Later...Two weeks have passed from one of the worst emotional rollercoasters of my life. Just when I thought I was at the lowest point in my life, Haley surprised me with two incredible miracles. We were set to have twin boys. I couldn't be happier. Haley didn't mind either way. She was a proud mama regardless of their genders. The odd part of our story, was that we were about to have child three and four, and yet neither of us had been present for every birth. I missed the first one. Haley missed the second. So neither of us really knew what to expect. We decided not to dwell on it, and treat as it should be. Our first pregnancy together.I was looking forward to experiencing everything with her. I so desperately wanted it to be perfect. Regardless, as long as we had each other, I knew it would be."So, are you ever going to tell me where you were that day?" I ask."How about tomorrow?" She says, making me turn towards her surprised. I hadn't expected her to give in so
By the time we got to the hospital, I was an absolute mess. I was terrified from the lack of the unknown. Was Haley ok? What about Sienna? The moment we arrived at the hospital, Sienna was taken away deeper into the hospital so they could run some tests. They had me go to a waiting area where they bring Sienna once they discovered what was wrong with her. I held Maverick in my arms, using him as a life support. If it wasn't for him right now, I doubt I would be standing up. They would need to put me in a bed as well, as my nerves were all over the place. My worry over both Sienna and Haley had gone to extremes. My mind was swirling with all the what-ifs. Was Haley in trouble? Did the Cobras go after her? Has she been kidnapped? Worse? "Mr. Stone?" As if that wasn't enough, my mind continued to plague me with fears over Sienna. What if I got to her too late? What will happen to her? Will she survive? Will she grow up to have a normal life? What did I do wrong? Was it something I di
...A Few Months Later...The construction on our new house was coming along swimmingly. With my connections, I had managed to secure some of the best people for this project. I worked well with Taylor, our project manager. He had so many great ideas that I could incorporate into my design. I was like a kid in a candy store. We made a great team. I would constantly bounce ideas off of him, and he would give me his input. Sometimes coming up with an even better solution. I was so happy to have him. With his insight, we had designed several hidden rooms, such as a play room, a room for the kids to hang out when they're older, even a butlers pantry. Taylor even came up with a secret passageway between the kids rooms. So that they could sneak into each others rooms. I was so thrilled with how well everything was coming along. It wouldn't be long for the house to completed at this rate. I couldn't wait to show Damian. I knew he was growing suspicious, as I was leaving the house more freque
My conversation with Damian from last night was ringing through my mind. I knew he was stressed, but he is good at hiding it from me. I wanted to help him, but when it came to his work, there wasn't much I could do. My strengths weren't in the tech industry. I was an architect.Wait... I'm an architect. I say to myself, as if reminding myself of my talent. Which is when it hit me. I wanted to take something off of Damian's plate. If I couldn't help him at the office, then I would help him with our home. I quickly got dressed then grabbed my cell phone. I called Colton to come pick me up then had him take me to our realtors office. I had our realtor look into various locations, and then once we came up with a list, we toured each and every one of them.Just before noon, I found the one I'd been searching for. It was a secluded location not far from the main city centre. It was situated right on the lake, and boasted a stunning private sand beach. I knew the moment y eyes landed on it,
…Haley POV…I woke up during the night to find Damian not in bed. I walked to the bathroom figuring he must be in there, only to find it empty. Realizing that he wasn’t in our room, I went to check on Maverick and Sienna, wondering if Damian had gone to check on them, however, both were sleeping soundly. I was about to head to the kitchen, when I saw a glow coming from the office. I walked inside, to see Damian fast asleep at his desk, his head buried in a mound of paperwork.“Dame.” I whisper while silently shaking him. However, to my surprise he doesn’t wake up.“Dame?” I question, a little louder this time, however, yet again, still no movement. I get on my knees before him, and run my hand through his hair. I feel him shift slightly, until he begins to stir.“Hmm?” He moans, as he turns to look at me.“Why don’t you come to bed?” I suggest, standing up to crawl onto his lap.I continue to stroke his head as his hands wrap around my waist. He buried his head in my neck, as he’s
Damian's phone ringing woke us up the next morning. It seemed as though a critical file that needed to be sent to finalize a deal had gone missing, meaning that Damian would have to go to the office to investigate it.Damian sighed, then kissed me on the forehead before heading to the bathroom. I couldn't help myself. I turned around in the bed to watch him as he walked towards the shower."I can feel you staring." He says, without looking at me."What are you going to do about it?" I remark. I can't help it. I love looking at his ass. It's so perfect, talk about eye candy."I can't do anything right now. But just know that when I get back, I expect you naked and willing on this bed for me." Damian shouts from the bathroom. I get out of bed and follow him into the bathroom. He's already in the shower as I enter, so he's unable to hear my silent footsteps as I approach.I walk into the shower behind him, and wrap my arms around his waist, reaching down for his member. "And what if I'm
I looked up to see Damian hover above me. I crawl backwards further into our King mattress. Damian mimics my moves as he comes closer to me. He tosses his shirt to the ground, as he hovers above me. I feel his bulge against my core, making my head tilt back in anticipation."Please." I whisper, reaching for the waistband of his pants in hopes of sliding them off."Please what?" He responds back, as he places kisses along my chest. He squeezes one of my nipples with his hand as he moves higher to kiss my neck. I can feel him sucking on it, making me wet down below. I tilt my head back further into the pillow as I give into his assault."Damian. Please." I find myself begging as I claw at his pants, trying to remove them from his waist. In one fluid motion, Damian manages to not only drop his pants but also remove his boxers, freeing his member. He traces his member along my core, teasingly.I reach for it, to push it inside me when Damian's hands reach for my wrist, pulling my hand aw
