148 A Scare

Christos.

It was after a while that I noticed the long silence and that time had passed with no word from the woman whose head was reclining on my upper body.

Dropping my head to read her expression, I saw the funny way in which she was looking at me and I sighed. Here we go!

“What?” I muttered.

“What is what?” She replied slowly, almost tiredly and remembering what she has gone through made me angry again.

“What did I do to warrant that look from you?” I explained gently, unsure of what her expression meant.

“What look is that, Christos?” And despite what she must be feeling, I could see a mischievous smile twisting the edge of her lips.

“Well, the look that suggests you are thinking I might be from another planet. There just now, you were looking at me as if you couldn’t believe I’m real.” I murmured softly, convinced that I was right.

“Well, maybe because it is true. I don’t really believe you are real.” She whispered before moving away from my body to drop her head tiredly on the
