Chapter 13

She opened the message only to see, "You must have received the mission already." She answered with a yes and dropped her phone back on the bed. But a few minutes later, her phone made another sound, and she picked it up only to see that it was another message from her friend: "When will you achieve the mission?" She pondered over the question before typing back, "In three days from now." After responding, she reduced all the volume on her phone and lay back on the bed, staring aimlessly at the ceiling until she fell asleep. When she woke up the next morning, the sun was already high up in the sky. She freshened up and went to the kitchen, only to see a family of three having breakfast together.

"This will be a very long and torturous breakfast if I join them." She was about to turn back and leave when her eyes met those of her aunt. Her aunt smiled and warmly called her over"Join us for breakfast," she said, hearing it she had chills running down her spine. Her aunt must really be looking forward to the blind date. Aurora, who had already been spotted, just walked over and she greeted them before sitting near her cousin, who was on the left of her uncle, and her aunt, who was sitting on the right.

She poured herself a cup of milk and started drinking it while observing the others. Nana smeared some butter on her toast before taking a bite, while her mother was quietly sipping her tea, and her uncle was drinking coffee while reading newspapers. As he was shuffling through it, he opened his mouth to speak, "I heard you will be dining with Mr. Luke on Friday of this week," his voice cold and distant, his eyes never leaving the newspaper as if the person to whom he was talking wasn’t worth it to look at.

Aurora, who was calmly drinking her milk while hoping to escape immediately, placed her cup down to respond to her uncle. "Yes," she said, short and direct. "So the other party's name is Luke." She didn't take her uncle's attitude to heart because it was the same as usual; he would talk to her if it was to verify something, but if not, he would treat her as if she were air. Now, he didn't even acknowledge her presence until he asked her about the blind date. After emptying the cup, she placed it on the table, got up, and left.

She retired to her room, picked up her phone, only to see that Victoria had sent her a message. When she opened it, there was all the information about her target. Her eyes scanned what she received. "A thirty-five-year-old man, married with two children. How sweet of Vicky; she even sent me his itineraries," she said, kissing her phone with a joyful expression before scanning through it.

"Since I'll be starting my job in three days, she gave me the itineraries of the targets for the next five days so that I can plan how to proceed.

In this organization, none of the members knows how many of us exist in it. The only person who knows is Vicky, as she is the fox of the group. She gathers information and assigns jobs to everyone. How did I join? She asked me if I wanted to join. At first, I was reluctant, but when I felt like an outcast in this family, I accepted to find a sense of belonging. I trained hard with various arms under the guardianship of someone sent by Vicky. Then, she started assigning me jobs that I had to take care of. However, doing those jobs was affecting me. I decided to create another identity for myself as 'Black Lotus' so as not to be bothered by the jobs I carried out. The only one who knows about the other members' identities is Vicky, but I don’t know the other members of the organization since it’s supposed to be kept secret, and I’m not curious about it. As time passed, my second identity as Black Lotus gained a name in the underworld.

At first, she did ask me if I wanted to back out, but I refused because the fact of having a client asking for my services felt more pleasant, like someone needed me even if I was hiding behind another identity. Until she refrained from asking, but in the organization, there was no head. Since Vicky was the one to gather information about our different missions, she was like a switch connected to various computers. The slight difference is that the other computers didn’t know the identity of their colleagues. In the organization, she is known as ‘Shadow’. No one knew about her identity in the organization, but since she was the one to bring me into the group, I know about her. The only information she made me know was that I was the youngest.
