It's the day I will officially start my job. I wore a plain polo shirt tucked-in on my denim, pencil skirt. The polo was kinda tight on my breast and it was really uncomfortable but I've got no choice but to wear it since it's only one of the "formal" clothes I have.

"Be a good boy and do not go outside, okay?" I told the cat whose name I haven't made up yet. It's been a couple of days since I adopted him, and he's actually doing well.

The cat purred and rubbed himself on me as if he understood what I said, which made a smile make its way to my lips.

"Great. I'll be going, then."

I made sure to make him eat breakfast first, made him drink his vitamins, and then I applied ointments for his skin conditions before I left the house. I also left some food so he can eat it later for lunch while I was away and working.

"Hmm, I have yet to name him. What could it be?" I murmured to myself whilst walking towards the busy streets of NYC and looking for some bus I can ride to the company I'll be

"Good morning, Mr. Jones. This is Rosette Ferrero, your new assigned secretary. How do I be of help to you?"There was a long pause of silence. My heart couldn't help but to beat faster and faster every single second that passed. I was a confident woman. I have my pride and I do not let other people look down upon me. However, I have already accepted the fact that I am below for some people in this path I've chosen. It's the reality. And this boss I am talking to right now could literally take back my job position in a snap of his finger, so I really need to impress him. "Hello?" I asked again when there was no response. Still, none. I was about to hang up the call when the other person in the line spoke for the first time."Ms. Ferrero, come and bring me a cup of coffee," said the person on the other line of the call. For some reason, it sent shivers down my spine. His voice was so deep and very manly, which was a total weakness of a weak girl like me.I swallowed hard and hummed, u

To say I was shocked was an understatement. It felt like I was struck by lightning and was beaten 24/7 upon learning that he was actually the boss of this company. I mean... I know he looks like one, but the last interaction we had had left a bad impression on him. I was such a fool! And now, this big of a boss was making me a slave of his!It has been my 5th day working as his secretary, and to say I was overly working was probably just a glimpse of the truth. I was treated like a slave! I was treated inhumanely. He made me go back and forth to his office, run some errands outside the company, and would make a call through the intercom for no actual reason? What does he want? Attention. Damn it.I know I was wrong for acting that way on THAT day, but he can't blame me. What he said that night was just below the belt and should not be said, especially if he doesn't know me personally, but then again, I was such a stupid and unreasonable person."He's a jerk!" I said under my breath a

Since I've got no work on Weekends, I decided to hang out with Joni. If you ask me who he is, he's my cat. I named him after my jerk of a boss, Mr. Jones. I honestly couldn't think of any name besides that, so let's just name my cat after him.I was watching a movie in my living room with Joni by my side sleeping. There was popcorn on my lap and soda. Joni would sometimes ask for food from me and I would just feed him.My mood went from high heavens to the bottom of the universe after I cried my eyes out that day and after being comforted by my cat. Maybe I was just too emotional. I wasn't so used to it that it culture-shocked me. Once I get used to it, everything's gonna be fine.I spent my whole weekend inside the house. Before, whenever it's weekends, I usually go out to bars after bars, parties after parties, clubs after clubs. That was my life before, but it's different now I guess. And to my shock, I did not even miss a bit of my old life.I was just comfortable around my cat.Wh

"Ready yourself, you will be coming with me at my lunch meeting," he said.I blinked my eyes. "Y-Yes?""You heard me. We'll leave at 30, so you better start packing your things up otherwise I'll take you unprepared."I was still processing the event that happened just now and how that emotion flashed through his eyes. I mean, it couldn't just be my illusion, right? He looked kind just now."Okay..." I said absentmindedly and exited his office to mine. Sitting on my own desk, I slapped my face lightly to make sure I wasn't dreaming. The hell?I swallowed really hard.Strangely, my heart was pounding.I SAID WHAT he said and prepared myself. I brought my phone and the iPad with me and had a quick retouch."You done?" he asked after I entered his office. He was now fixing the cuff of his sleeve while stealing a glance at me.I nodded my head. "Yes, sir.""Good. Let's go." Khein leaned casually on his chair and looked at Mr. Turno coldly in the eyes. Even his tone has no sense of humor in it. He was dead serious."I-I do have a wife, yes." Mr. Turno fakes a laugh."Then why look at other women, then? You're married. Be content."The middle-aged guy was slightly frowned. I could literally see he was slightly pissed but was just stopping it."I think it's normal to appreciate beauty but still be a loyal husband to his wife, Mr. Jones. I guess you didn't know this yet since you're still young and single. Why don't you try settling down now, yes?""It's not about being unmarried, it means I don't know a thing or two. You are eye-fucking a woman quite clearly and still denies it."I covered my mouth through my hand as I stared unbelievably at Khein's back. What the hell?Mr. Turbo laughed awkwardly. "You're a silly man, I-I didn't, of course."Khein did not say anything after that and instead went straight to the main subject of this meeting. They discussed t

I ate heartily inside his car. I wasn't even embarrassed at all and was only minding my own business. I hugged him due to being overjoyed, but it meant nothing but gratefulness. He wouldn't possibly think something about it, right? Besides, hugging is a normal thing to do for us in our family. We're all verbally and physically vocal to any of our family members. But he's not a family, though.Anyhow, I should not think about it too much. My stomach has been throwing tantrums ever since and I was starving to death! I should mind my own world, not the others.I ordered a full pack meal set, extra large fries, pasta, and a large sundae. On the other hand, Khein got himself a burger and an ice tea."Thanks for the treat, Mr. Jones," I said for the 3rd time whilst munching my food. I couldn't help but feel grateful. Lately, life has been so difficult for me that I find it too hard to treat myself out. I spend most of my money on my groceries as well as my rent, transportation, and Joni's fo

I don't know why I was disappointed. I hate him. I hate Khein. After everything he has done to me, it made me loathe him to no end, and I don't believe it would ever change. I will never forget the way he treated me during my first week of work in his company as his secretary.But...I felt kinda sad knowing he wasn't here to welcome me. I mean, we're also colleagues, right?Anyway, I shouldn't ruin this party they made for me. Their efforts should be appreciated. A mere missing person should not be the cause of the disaster. I must enjoy myself. After all, I am finally out of my parents' house and am living alone. That, enough, is worth celebrating for."Do you drink, Miss Ferrero?" asked by a female colleague who's probably 5 years older than me or so.I gave her a nod. "A little.""Great! Then take this shot and let's celebrate you for being part of the company!"She handed me a glass of shot with some lemon above the glass. She made sure I drank it all up before she left. They all

My heart began beating violently against my chest. The proximity of our bodies were so dangerously close that I could literally feel the heat of his body radiating off of him. His chiseled chest rose up and down as if he was having a hard time breathing. His jaws were clenching hardly. I am afraid his bones will soon break.I looked at his face through the blinding disco lights around us. Even through the darkness, I could literally see how handsome he was. His hair wasn't slicked up like it usually looked like. His thick brows were furrowed, an obvious indication that he was internally having a battle of thoughts. His sharp nose was just perfect, and he had those cheekbones that looked perfect on him. He's a fine looking guy."S-Sir...!" I heard the man who harassed me said with fear laced upon his voice. As if I was back to my reverie, I blinked my eyes and looked over my shoulder to see the man looking so pale like a bond paper dull with any ink. It was as if he had seen a ghost whi

“Ma’am, your husband has already left,” Emma said, her tone cautious as she addressed me. These days, I wasn't in the best of moods, not because of any lingering sickness, but due to the nagging feeling that something was being kept from me. “He has left for work, and he’ll probably be back a week from now or so.” I nodded silently, then took a sip of the tea she had prepared for me. The revelation that my husband had left bothered me, but I chose not to show it. Why should I care or worry? After all, he didn’t even come to bid farewell himself, so why should I react as if I were genuinely disappointed. “Tell me, Emma,” I uttered, my tone seeking answers. “What were we like as a married couple before I lost my memories?” Caught off guard, Emma hesitated, her usually composed demeanor faltering for a moment. I closed my eyes briefly, taking a deep breath to steady myself before opening them again to face her. “I-I really didn’t know much, ma’am," she admitted, her words coming out

I was back to square one. My husband appeared to be keeping something from me, and I couldn't shake that feeling. When I inquired if he was worried, he didn't respond. Instead, he abruptly left the room, seemingly ignoring my question completely. I felt bewildered and offended. Is he truly my husband? Why isn't he behaving like one?Following that incident, he didn't visit or contact me to check on my well-being. I felt disappointed. But then again, it couldn't be helped.Days passed, and the absence of my husband weighed on me. The unanswered questions and the growing void in our interactions left me grappling with a sense of isolation. I yearned for some connection, for reassurance, but he remained elusive."He hasn't visited or even checked on me. Is this how a husband should act?" I questioned, my voice tinged with a mixture of frustration and sadness.Emma, always composed, offered a reassuring smile. "People cope with difficult situations in different ways, Miss Ophelia. I took a deep breath as I followed him into his office. The man, who claimed to be my husband, seated himself at the desk with casual ease. I stood there, feeling like a fool, waiting for his next command. His expression soured when he saw me hesitating. "What are you doing?" he demanded, his jaws clenching in annoyance. I blinked, my mind still trying to process the overwhelming information he had just laid upon me. I was shocked and utterly disoriented, unable to pull myself together and act with a rational mind. I felt like a leaf, caught in the unpredictable currents of this surreal situation. "What?" he snapped. "Come here." I slowly and reluctantly walked over to his side, my thoughts still swirling with the revelations. When I was close enough, my husband extended his arms towards me. I hesitated, glancing at his outstretched arm. "I won't hurt you, okay? So come here now," he said, annoyance evident in his voice. Biting my lower lip, cheeks burning with embarrassment, I g

Staring into his stunning blue eyes, which revealed no emotion, I couldn't help but notice his tall, masculine figure—undeniably handsome and attractive. Despite his physical perfection, I hesitated to accept him as my husband. In my dreams, the man who claimed that role held me with warmth and tenderness, his gaze filled with affection. The contrast between those dreams and the current reality was stark. The man in front of me felt distant, his demeanor cold and uninviting. An invisible barrier seemed to separate us, making it hard for me to connect the dream figure with the person standing before me. The discrepancy between the dream's warmth and the real-world chill heightened my confusion and left me questioning the authenticity of this man's claim to be my husband.I must have stood there like an idiot for what felt like an eternity. My gaze was fixed on him, my lips parting and closing like a gaping fish. Describing my state as surprised would be a severe understatement—I was ut

It felt as though the world had turned upside down, my head throbbing painfully as I attempted to recall the events that transpired during my time in a coma. The last tangible memory I could grasp was being in... a dark room. And beyond that point, my recollections became an impenetrable fog, leaving me grappling with the disorienting void that stretched between the past and my current state of consciousness.I gazed at the coffee cradled in my hands, its warmth and the sweet aroma wafting up, stirring a nostalgic feeling within me. Yet, my mind struggled to unravel the threads of memory, unable to pinpoint when or where I had last experienced this sensation. Was this scenario familiar, or was it a moment my consciousness had yet to encounter?“It’s time for your medicine now, ma’am,” Emma said as she handed me the pills that I have been taking for a month. Yes, it has been a month, and up until now I was still pondering what really happened, who am I, and where the hell I am. The onl

I jolted awake, gasping for breath, my eyes fluttering open to the harsh reality of my bedroom. Sweat trickled down from my forehead, soaking through the sheets as I grappled with the remnants of a haunting dream—a nightmare that lingered in my waking mind. As I lay there, heart racing and senses on high alert, I couldn't shake off the lingering unease that the dream left in its wake. The echo of a distant scream, the shadows that danced malevolently in the corners of my mind—everything felt vivid and disconcerting. I took a deep breath, attempting to shake off the remnants of the nightmare. Yet, the tendrils of fear still clung stubbornly, leaving me with an unsettling awareness that the boundary between dreams and reality was thinner than I had ever imagined. "Good morning," a voice suddenly exclaimed, prompting me to turn my gaze towards its source. There stood a woman in her mid-twenties, adorned in what appeared to be a maid's uniform.
