It took some time for the child to calm down. Xavier never leave their daughter until she finally stops crying. Margarette has never felt this helpless before. Her daughter was so into her father that it actually hurts her to see her daughter being broken if the time has come and they have to leave.

Perhaps, her daughter was silently longing for her biological father.

Perhaps, she wasn't just able to recognize that.

She was always missing. She's always been away, studying and making a life of her own. She's always busy with her own life to even acknowledge her daughter's feelings. Perhaps, Xaire wanted a real father all along.

When the child was finally asleep, she also took that sign to leave. The maids escorted her back to her own room where they had prepared a meal for her. She didn't even notice she was already starving until she smelled the delicious aroma of coffee and food. Only then her stomach started gurgling.

She sighed. She sat down on the couch and started eating her meal

He even gave her the privacy that she wants while she was talking with her father. When she was done, she handed the phone back to him in which he accepted with a content smile."I'm gonna go to sleep next to Xaire," she informed him.He nodded his head. So far, Xaiver seems genuine about his feelings towards their child. He looks as if he longed for her his whole life. Despite not being able to see her grow up, it was not a hindrance for him to love her. Margarette shouldn't doubt his fatherly love She can't help it, though, because everything reminds her of their past. How he made her feel loved but in the end, he ended up breaking not only her trust, but also her heart."Here's your drink, ma'am." Gloria went back eventually and gave her the drink that she asked before the old maid went back to her own work. She sighed for the hundredth time before she sipped on her drink."Mom!" Xaire ran towards her and hugged her legs. "Drink!"She smiled as she knelt down to level her child's height before assisting her to drink the watermelon juice."Thank you, mommy!""You're welcome, hun," she replied and planted a kiss on Xaire's forehead. "Do you want more?""Nope!" Xaire exclaimed before running back to her father. She smiled again. Her

"What is going on?" she asked herself. The maids were strangely extra busy today and she wonders why.Her brows were furrowed as she roamed her eyes around. Where were the two?She continued walking. She entered her daughter's chamber and saw that they were not there, so she went to the garden, but to no avail. They were still not there. "Excuse me, have you seen my daughter?" she asked one of the workers in the mansion. The maid nearly knelt down just to show some respect as if she was some sort of royalty when it's totally unnecessary to do that. She's just a mere captive in this house, not even slightest to call a visitor."T-They are in Mr. Ivanov's office, ma'am," the poor maid stuttered."Where is it located? Lead the way, please.""N-My pleasure, ma'am."She followed the maid as they went up to Xavier's office on the first floor. Their chambers were actually located on the second floor of the mansion and she was quite okay with that considering that she has a child. Her motherl

There was a knock on the door and she instantly knew it was him, but she ignored it. She can't talk to him right now. He can't see her right now. She has tears in her eyes and she's afraid he might take advantage of her vulnerability once again. And so, she went to the bathroom with her daughter and bathed her in the tub while ignoring the knocks on the door. She will deal with him later. After bathing her daughter and being patient while she played with the toy ducks on the tub and at the same time splashing her water every now and then, Margarette was finally done with Xaire. She picked her up and carried her back to the bed where she put her clothes on. She dressed, lotioned, and brushed her child's hair, and made sure she was clean enough. She couldn't risk Xaire getting sick. For the hundredth time, there was a knock on the door. She rolled her eyes and stomped her way to open it.Xavier scratched the back of his head. "Hi, you done?"She simply nodded her head and didn't answer h

Is he serious? Wanting her to hang out with that woman? He must be insane. There is no way she will hang out with that stranger who tried to steal her daughter's heart. But how come she ended up being in the same place as her now?She crossed her arms across her chest as she stared down at the woman's hand in the air. Mary was awkwardly smiling at her while extending her hand for a handshake."Margarette," Xavier warned, there was seriousness in his voice that made her shudder silently. She looked at him and rolled her eyes in annoyance. "What?""Mary is greeting you. Stop being a baby and greet her," he said like a father. She scoffed. He used to tell her what and what not to do. He used to tell and command her when she was still young and naive. Now, she's already 25. She's no longer the same stupid girl in the past that he once knew. He can't boss her around this time around."I'm not being a baby!" she hissed, offended."Then go and greet her," he said. She glared at him. "I hate

He quietly exited the room."Oh my, I should've probably brought my cat here with me!" Mary said followed with a giggle.Xavier stopped on her tracks."Actually, we have pets in our house. My dad gifted me a Persian cat on my 22nd birthday. It was my first pet. Then after that, my dad brought home another pet. He gave his granddaughter a shih tzu and I got another cat," she shared. She was happy to be able to have someone to talk to, especially in her her situation right now. "Wow! I actually have a poodle and a husky, too!" Mary said with excitement on her voice. She was only one year younger than Margarette and they vibe so much as if they were childhood friends."Really?" Margarette was widely smiling. "I love pets.""Same here. I even think I can't live without my babies. They are very precious to me," said Mary. "They are my life."Margarette giggled. "You're so cute! I hope you wil bring your pets here when you visit again, I'm pretty sure Xaire would love them!""I sure will."

Silence filled them after the gunshot. Margarette felt her whole body go pale as she felt cold. Terror hit her heart as memories came rushing back to her mind. She couldn't move. "Hey, are you okay?" Mary asked in concern as she held Margarette on the shoulder. But Margarette jerked away like a terrified cat. Mary immediately apologised. "I'm so sorry.""W-What's going on?" she asked nervously. Mary smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry about it. It's probably just men practising once again. It often happens here, not a big deal.""No, no, I need to see my daughter," she said in panic. Her mind was closing its own mind to hear other people's opinions. Her instinct kicks in and her motherly reflex tells her to go get her child. Margarette got up like crazy and ran into the house. Her tears rolled down his face as she climbed. She met some maids who were looking at her curiously but she paid them no mind."Xaire..." she muttered under her breath. She ran to her daughter's room. Hastily a

AFTER THAT INCIDENT, Margarette decided to sleep next to her daughter at night. Xavier understood her worries and let her do what she felt more comfortable with. Xavier ended up feeling sorry for trapping her and asked for forgiveness, but she could only cry. She was a mess and was beyond afraid. He ended up punishing those people who pulled the trigger and fired without his commands. Because of that, Margarette had become paranoid. She rarely goes out to the room and would always look after her daughter. It has been 2 days and Margarette was still not talking to him. "Hi," he said through his low voice as he raked his fingers on his face before dishevelling it. He just got off from his own gym and was sweaty. He was only wearing men's shorts. His defined body was a huge turn on to everyone, especially to his chiselled chest. He had those 8 pack abs. Sweat was dripping down from his toned body. She looked away and ignored him. He licked his lower lips. "Where is Xaire?" he started

“Ma’am, your husband has already left,” Emma said, her tone cautious as she addressed me. These days, I wasn't in the best of moods, not because of any lingering sickness, but due to the nagging feeling that something was being kept from me. “He has left for work, and he’ll probably be back a week from now or so.” I nodded silently, then took a sip of the tea she had prepared for me. The revelation that my husband had left bothered me, but I chose not to show it. Why should I care or worry? After all, he didn’t even come to bid farewell himself, so why should I react as if I were genuinely disappointed. “Tell me, Emma,” I uttered, my tone seeking answers. “What were we like as a married couple before I lost my memories?” Caught off guard, Emma hesitated, her usually composed demeanor faltering for a moment. I closed my eyes briefly, taking a deep breath to steady myself before opening them again to face her. “I-I really didn’t know much, ma’am," she admitted, her words coming out

I was back to square one. My husband appeared to be keeping something from me, and I couldn't shake that feeling. When I inquired if he was worried, he didn't respond. Instead, he abruptly left the room, seemingly ignoring my question completely. I felt bewildered and offended. Is he truly my husband? Why isn't he behaving like one?Following that incident, he didn't visit or contact me to check on my well-being. I felt disappointed. But then again, it couldn't be helped.Days passed, and the absence of my husband weighed on me. The unanswered questions and the growing void in our interactions left me grappling with a sense of isolation. I yearned for some connection, for reassurance, but he remained elusive."He hasn't visited or even checked on me. Is this how a husband should act?" I questioned, my voice tinged with a mixture of frustration and sadness.Emma, always composed, offered a reassuring smile. "People cope with difficult situations in different ways, Miss Ophelia. I took a deep breath as I followed him into his office. The man, who claimed to be my husband, seated himself at the desk with casual ease. I stood there, feeling like a fool, waiting for his next command. His expression soured when he saw me hesitating. "What are you doing?" he demanded, his jaws clenching in annoyance. I blinked, my mind still trying to process the overwhelming information he had just laid upon me. I was shocked and utterly disoriented, unable to pull myself together and act with a rational mind. I felt like a leaf, caught in the unpredictable currents of this surreal situation. "What?" he snapped. "Come here." I slowly and reluctantly walked over to his side, my thoughts still swirling with the revelations. When I was close enough, my husband extended his arms towards me. I hesitated, glancing at his outstretched arm. "I won't hurt you, okay? So come here now," he said, annoyance evident in his voice. Biting my lower lip, cheeks burning with embarrassment, I g

Staring into his stunning blue eyes, which revealed no emotion, I couldn't help but notice his tall, masculine figure—undeniably handsome and attractive. Despite his physical perfection, I hesitated to accept him as my husband. In my dreams, the man who claimed that role held me with warmth and tenderness, his gaze filled with affection. The contrast between those dreams and the current reality was stark. The man in front of me felt distant, his demeanor cold and uninviting. An invisible barrier seemed to separate us, making it hard for me to connect the dream figure with the person standing before me. The discrepancy between the dream's warmth and the real-world chill heightened my confusion and left me questioning the authenticity of this man's claim to be my husband.I must have stood there like an idiot for what felt like an eternity. My gaze was fixed on him, my lips parting and closing like a gaping fish. Describing my state as surprised would be a severe understatement—I was ut

It felt as though the world had turned upside down, my head throbbing painfully as I attempted to recall the events that transpired during my time in a coma. The last tangible memory I could grasp was being in... a dark room. And beyond that point, my recollections became an impenetrable fog, leaving me grappling with the disorienting void that stretched between the past and my current state of consciousness.I gazed at the coffee cradled in my hands, its warmth and the sweet aroma wafting up, stirring a nostalgic feeling within me. Yet, my mind struggled to unravel the threads of memory, unable to pinpoint when or where I had last experienced this sensation. Was this scenario familiar, or was it a moment my consciousness had yet to encounter?“It’s time for your medicine now, ma’am,” Emma said as she handed me the pills that I have been taking for a month. Yes, it has been a month, and up until now I was still pondering what really happened, who am I, and where the hell I am. The onl

I jolted awake, gasping for breath, my eyes fluttering open to the harsh reality of my bedroom. Sweat trickled down from my forehead, soaking through the sheets as I grappled with the remnants of a haunting dream—a nightmare that lingered in my waking mind. As I lay there, heart racing and senses on high alert, I couldn't shake off the lingering unease that the dream left in its wake. The echo of a distant scream, the shadows that danced malevolently in the corners of my mind—everything felt vivid and disconcerting. I took a deep breath, attempting to shake off the remnants of the nightmare. Yet, the tendrils of fear still clung stubbornly, leaving me with an unsettling awareness that the boundary between dreams and reality was thinner than I had ever imagined. "Good morning," a voice suddenly exclaimed, prompting me to turn my gaze towards its source. There stood a woman in her mid-twenties, adorned in what appeared to be a maid's uniform. A tray laden with breakfast delicacies res
