Chapter eight: Wedding date!

After meeting up with Eric, Elijah had gone back to his father's mansion and as usual he was out on a business trip while Jane was somewhere in one of the clubs partying and enjoying herself.

He actually came back to a quiet house where it was only the maids and of course the bodyguards for security purposes.

Elijah went to his room, freshened up and dressed in a more comfortable cloth.

He brought out his laptop to answer some work emails when his door was barged in on.

He didn't bother checking who it was because he already knows that it would be no other person than Jane.

“Hey brother!” She greeted while making herself comfortable on the couch beside Elijah’s working table.

“Hello sister” he mimicked, he already knew why Jane was in his room.

“Sooo…when is the wedding date?” she asked with so much excitement in her voice.

“There's no date yet, I just informed him about it. How do you expect him to respond that fast” Elijah asked.

“What do you mean respond so fast? It's been 48 hours already. You should have gotten a reply already” Jane said, raising her voice this time.

“Jane you have to calm down and let me handle this please” Elijah knows how demanding and annoying his sister can be.

“Elijah if this is beyond you just let me know, I can always ask daddy to help out because you are taking much more time than u should” Jane said sarcastically.

Elijah didn't like the fact that Jane is seeing her as an incompetent person which she has always been doing ever since they were kids and even this one time he has assured her that everything will go as planned yet she still doubts him as always.

“Jane I have told you to let me handle this, Eric is going to give in agreement with me and we both win” Elijah tried to reassure her again.

Ever since Elijah was a child he has always wanted to prove himself to his father Williams that he is man enough to inherit his company however everything he does ends up implicating or complicating his relationship with his father the most.

However he has made up his mind to make sure he gets on the right page of his father and will do anything just anything to make that happen.

At the other hand Jane has always been the favorite child effortlessly without having to try to prove anything to their father but wasn't interested in the company's business but since their father fancies her the most she had to just play along and pretend like she has interest in whatever that is going on in the company.

“You are taking much time, Daddy won't keep waiting forever and you know that” Jane reminded him.

Their father isn't the type that is patient with things, he always gets what he wants when he wants it and also when it comes to business he doesn't consider anyone family not even his own kids.

“And you think I am not aware of that, you and I know that you have nothing to lose even if this plan fails so quit the pretense and let me do what I got to do” Elijah blurted out.

He is getting tired of Jane plastering him about just because she desperately wants to get married to Eric for God knows why.

“This is your last chance to prove yourself to dad and if I was in your shoes I would make sure my best is enough dummy,” Jane said with a tone of mockitude before leaving Elijah’s room.

Elijah was left alone in his thoughts, he just wished things would really go his way.

His father wants to build a business connection with Eric being that he is dominating in New York City and his net worth was ranking second, he needs something to boost his company as well as making it more financially stronger and Eric is the perfect person for that.

Now his father had entrusted him with the job to get it done and have him change his will to his name as his next successor.

Just after his father told him everything, he received a call from an unknown number which he later found out was Theo giving him some important information about Eric.

At that point Elijah felt the universe was siding with him this once, because if he could actually have Eric’s twin brother on his side that means there ever chance that thing will go the way he planned and finally get to be the successor of his father's company and stop being slapped on the face by Jane’s nasty behavior.

However in the midst of all the rush, he didn't want Eric suspecting that he had any other plans that didn't involve marriage.

It is known that Eric is a very smart man, so Elijah was really being very careful and watchful not to be caught up in his own plans.

He picked up his phone and dialed a number, it kept on ringing with no one responding from the other end.

But it didn't take long before the number called back, he immediately picked up the call.

“Josh, how is it going?” He asked, hoping to hear something positive but the voice he heard from the other end struck him so hard.

“Is that the best you could do?” Elijah heard a very familiar cold voice reply to him and immediately he knew who the voice belonged to.

Eric!

“E..ric” Elijah stammered, he didn't send Josh one of his dad's best private spies to keep an eye on Eric only to get caught.

“Surprised?” Eric asked from the other end.

“Fuck!!” Elijah cursed he wasn't able to gather himself to speak any more so he had to hang up the call asap, clearing his throat out of nervousness as he dropped his phone on his bed.

He needed to think of a plan very fast because the last thing his father wants is being at war with Eric.
