NOLAN’S POV

“My wife’s not breathing right,” I choked out, grabbing the arm of the first nurse I saw. “Something’s wrong.”

She looked at me in shock before responding, “Mr Russo… I’ll get the doctor now.” She turned to page the doctor and before she could, he came out of another ward.

“Marshall, you have to check on Anna now!” He nodded sharply and ran down the halls to Anna’s room with two nurses trailing behind him.

He started checking on her immediately after he got to her side. “Get the crash cart!” The nurse who was checking her vitals shouted.

The crash cart? What the hell was that?

I pressed my back against the wall, clenching my fists as Dr. Marshall and the nurses moved around checking Anna.

“Her oxygen levels are dropping,” one of the nurses announced as she adjusted the mask over Anna’s face.

“Come on, Anna. Fight,” I muttered under my breath as I paced back and forth.

Dr. Marshall grabbed a syringe, filled it with something, and injected it into Anna’s IV line. “That sh

ANASTASIA’S POVIt has been three days since I was admitted to the hospital, and aside from the weakness, I was getting better. The constant beeping of the hospital machines had somewhat become familiar to me. “Anna, are you listening to me?” My mother, who I had tuned out, called out to me. “Of course, Mother,” I said, giving her a fake smile. Before she could continue talking, the door to my room creaked open. I turned my head to see Nolan walk in with a bouquet of white lilies in his hand. The sight of him made my heart skip a beat, and I sat up eager to hug him. “Easy, Princess,” he said, as he walked over with a concerned look on his face. He reached my side and handed me the flowers before pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead.“Thanks, husband,” I murmured with a chuckle, before bringing the bouquet to my nose to smell.“Hello, Father and Mother,” he said, greeting my parents. My father cleared his throat before responding and said, "Hello, Nolan." He crossed his arms before

NOLAN’S POV “Nolan –” An awfully familiar voice called out as the door creaked open. Anna and I froze on the spot. My body tensed and we turned our heads toward the entrance to see Dimitri standing in the doorway. His eyes widened before he blinked rapidly as if trying to get rid of what he saw from his brain. I snapped out of it and yelled at him, "Get the hell out!" “Ah, hell no,” he said in horror. “That’s just nasty, man.” He said as he turned around and shut the door. Silence passed before I turned to Anna, my lips twitching. “Are you okay?” I asked, trying to hold back my laughter. Anna didn’t respond and she also looked like she was trying to hold back her laughter. And then suddenly, we both burst into uncontrollable laughter. Our laughter filled the room as we leaned against each other. “I think we just scarred him for life,” Anna managed to say between laughs. I smirked, shaking my head. “Serves him right for not knocking.” Anna wiped a tear from her eye

ANASTASIA’S POVThe sight of Leo hanging upside down from the ceiling filled me with a bit of satisfaction. His body was bloodied and covered in bruises. “Good,” I muttered as I stepped closer to his unconscious body, which was swaying slightly from the chains suspending him. The satisfying echo of my boots against the cold concrete floor filled the air. Dimitri and Nolan stood behind me, watching.“Hello, Leo,” I called out, kicking him hard in the ribs, causing him to let out a strangled cry as he woke up, his swollen eyes darting around frantically before they landed on me.“Anna?” Leo called out weakly. “Surprised to see me?” I crouched to his eye level, tilting my head. “Guess you didn’t do your job so well, huh?”“I’m sorry, Anna,” he managed to choke out. I let out a cold laugh, shaking my head. “It’s too late for that, Leo. Don't you think“ Straightening to my full height, I turned to Nolan and Dimitri. Can I get a bucket of hot water, husband?" “Whatever you want, princes

ANASTASIA’S POVI squinted my eyes as the rays from the morning sun filtered through the curtains. Stretching, I reached out for Nolan, but my hand met only empty sheets. I sat up frowning as I glanced around the room. "Nolan?" I called out softly, but there was no response.I swung my legs off the bed and stood, rubbing my arms as goosebumps formed from the cool morning air. I checked for my robe, but it wasn’t in its usual place. I sighed and made my way toward the door in nothing but my silk nightgown. I heard the murmur of voices from the kitchen, and I followed the sound. As I stepped into the kitchen, I was greeted by an unfamiliar sight. Nolan was sitting casually in a chair, and a tall man with his back to me stood in front of him. He had a lean, muscular build with broad shoulders. The moment they heard the soft patter of my bare feet against the tiled floor, they turned towards me.My gaze landed on the stranger first, as I took in his striking blue eyes and the faint scar

NOLAN’S POV“So, how were you able to sleep next to her last night? Dimitri asked, readjusting in his seat. I scrunched my brows at him. “What do you mean by that?”“You know… the thing with Leo?” he said, raising his brows suggestively. “Oh, that”“Yeah, that,” he said scoffing. “Dare I say she’s more brutal than you are.”I let out a loud laugh. “It just might look like that.”“Damn, maybe she should be running this show and not you,” He said with a devilish smirk on his face. “Careful now,” I said in a warning tone. “I bet she’s going to give Ivan hell,” Dimitri said, shaking his head with an amused chuckle.I leaned back in my chair, stretching my legs. “He’s a big boy. He can handle it.”Dimitri raised a brow. “You sure? Because I give him a week before she has him questioning all his life choices.”I smirked. “If he can survive her, he deserves a raise.”Dimitri laughed, but the amusement faded as he leaned forward. “We need to talk.” He said, resting his elbows on his knees

NOLAN’S POVI leaned back in my chair, phone pressed to my ear as I listened to the voice on the other end. "I understand, Hera, but what you're asking for isn't possible at this time," I said, rubbing my temple "You'll have to find another supplier if you want it done that way."The man on the other end started protesting again, but I had already lost interest. I was about to end the call when the door to my office swung open. “I’ve got important information,” Dimitri said as he strolled in, completely ignoring the fact that I was still on the phone. I held up a finger to signal for him to wait, as he plopped down in the chair across from me, making himself comfortable."Mr. Hera, Good night," I said, cutting the man off mid-sentence. I ended the call and set my phone down, exhaling sharply. "This better be important, Dimitri.""Trust me, it is." He smirked, leaning forward.I sighed and sat up straight, resting my arms on my desk. "Alright. What’s it about?"Dimitri’s smirk grew

ANASTASIA’S POVIvan opened the front door and stepped aside to let me in. I walked into the house and let out a deep breath as I plopped onto the couch rolling my shoulders to ease the tension as Ivan silently set my bag on the coffee tableI bent down to remove my heels from my feet that ached from a long day. Before I could take them off, Ivan was already kneeling at my side. His hands reached for my ankles, "Don't worry, I can do it myself," I muttered as I shook my head.Ivan didn’t move. "I’m already here, ma’am. Just rest your back." He said in a soft and calm tone. I stared at him for a second as the softness in his voice took me by surprise. He was usually stoic and all business, but this…this was different.“Alright,” I nodded slightly and leaned back into the couch. I watched as he carefully removed my heels, his fingers slightly brushing against my skin. His touch was unexpectedly gentle for a bodyguard, softer than Nolan’s. My mind wandered, imagining how his hands wou

There won’t be any hiccups."I nodded and checked through the file in my hand. "And the security arrangements?""I’ve double-checked, Sir. I personally made sure there won’t be any loose ends.""Good," I said, standing from my seat. "You’re dismissed. Let me know if anything changes."She nodded and turned to leave, I added, "Oh, get me, Dimitri. Now.""On it, boss."Once the door shut behind her, I exhaled slowly and rolled up my sleeves. I walked over to the cabinet to pour myself a generous glass of scotch. I took a sip and allowed the burn of the liquor to spread through my chest, my mind already running through the plan for the night. The door creaked open, and Dimitri strolled in. He collapsed onto the couch, stretching his arms over the backrest.I gave him a blank look. "You shouldn’t

ANASTASIA’S POVIt had been a week.Seven whole days since I let Ivan touch me.Seven days since we both quenched our desires. And every day since then, I've been running. Not physically, but I haven’t been able to hold his gaze or stay in the room too long with him. He noticed also but didn’t press for anything. But I could feel him watching.Every time we were in the same space, that heavy silence would hang between us. His gaze was always fixed on me at every time, and I’d pretend I didn’t feel it like a burn on my skin.I’d lied to myself, thinking I could handle it. That it was just a one-time thing. Except, it wasn’t. Because every time I closed my eyes, I remembered the way he touched me. The way his mouth worshiped every part of me. And worse?I wanted more. And that terrified me.“Ma'am?”My head snapped up. I hadn’t realized I’d zoned out in the middle of the operations meeting. My fingers tightened around the pen in my hand as I turned to face the manager who was spe

ANASTASIA’S POV“Ivan…” I whispered as I stepped closer to him, closing the distance between us. My eyes met his, and I didn’t blink. “Unbutton your shirt.”He tilted his head, searching my face for any sign of hesitation. Maybe to be sure I wasn’t acting out of drunken impulse. But there was no uncertainty in me. Just rage and desire. Without hesitating, he obeyed. His fingers moved slowly from the top button, his eyes never leaving mine.My breath hitched as my eyes followed his every move.I watched the way his knuckles flexed with each button he undid and how his chest rose and fell. When he did the last one, I reached up to slide the shirt off his shoulders. My palms flattened against his skin, skimming down his arms, feeling every inch and every line of his body. After taking off the shirt, I reached down for his belt. I looked up at him again. “Take it off.”His hands worked at the buckle smoothly without hesitation. As he took off the belt, I reached for his zipper, but he

NOLAN’S POVIt had been two days since I left home, and I hadn’t heard a word from Anna. The silence put me in distress, and no amount of whiskey or distraction could drown out the guilt or the ache in my chest. We were all at the hideout waiting for the next order. Dimitri sat across from me, his eyes scanning through a few folders on the table. Camila was pacing by the window, talking to someone on the phone in low murmurs.“What's the word?” I asked, tapping my fingers on the edge of the table, trying to focus on the work at hand.Dimitri raised an eyebrow without looking up. “The usual—deals, contracts, risks. The buyer's still on the fence. They’re asking too many questions.”I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my temples. “So, what's the next step? We wait for them to decide. Or do we push harder?”Dimitri didn't immediately respond like he was considering whether or not to say something. He finally met my eyes. “Maybe we push, but not too hard. We don’t want to spook them. The m

ANASTASIA’S POVI woke to a deep, steady breathing rhythm next to me. I snuggled closer, wanting more of the warmth. My eyes fluttered open, and for a second, I thought I was alone on the bed. Then I felt the weight of an arm across my waist and turned to find Ivan lying beside me, his face relaxed in sleep. We weren’t tangled together, but his hold on me was gentle. Then the memories from last night came flooding in. The ice cream, laughter, and the way he made me feel. The ache in my chest had eased just a little. But that was last night. This morning was different. This morning, I had to pretend none of that mattered.I carefully slid out of his arms and tiptoed out of bed like a thief, making my way to the bathroom. The hot water stung at first, but I welcomed the burn. It was grounding. After drying off and slipping into a fresh robe, I stepped back into the room and found the bed empty.Good.That meant we didn’t have to talk about anything. No awkward glances and forced convers

ANASTASIA’S POVThe rim of my glass felt warm against my fingers as I swirled the last bit of my drink, watching the amber liquid catch the dim lights of the bar. Ivan was sitting across me with his arms folded, his sharp eyes watching me like I was a teenager sneaking alcohol.I sighed, setting the glass down. “Could you not watch me like I’m a child?”His lips twitched. “Just trying to see if you’re drunk yet.”“I’ve only had one drink,” I said, arching a brow. “And you know damn well it takes more than that.”He chuckled, deep and amused. “True.”I rolled my eyes and picked up the glass to finish the last drop. “Alright, babysitter. It’s getting late. Let’s head home.”He stood as I did. “Sure thing.”We made our way out of the bar and the air was cooler. I took in a deep breath. Felt like I needed the fresh air.Ivan moved to open the back door for me like he always did—but tonight, I made my way to the front and slid into the passenger seat instead. He moved to the driver's seat

NOLAN’S POVAnna’s body was still pressed against mine as she took warm and shaky breaths. I didn’t want to let go—not yet. But the truth pressed heavily on my chest.“I have to leave again, Princess,” I said quietly. At first, she didn’t say anything. She just went still. Then, she slowly peeled herself out of my arms and turned to face me.The look in her eyes wasn’t confusion or disappointment. It was cold and controlled.Anger.“You're leaving?” she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper, but came out sharp.I nodded, already hating myself. “Yeah. I have to.” I said avoiding her gaze. She let out a short, humorless laugh and stepped back, water cascading off her body. “Then why the hell did you come back at all?!”“Because I—”“No.” She raised a hand, eyes flashing. “I actually don’t want to hear it.”I exhaled, running a hand through my wet hair. “This isn’t easy for me either, Princess.”“And yet, here we are!” she said, letting out a cold laugh. “First, you didn't tell me w

ANASTASIA’S POVA knock on the door pulled me from my daze. It creaked open and my secretary peeked her head in.“Ma’am, the team from the furniture manufacturing house called. It seems like the workers are slacking again. You might need to visit.”I let out a dramatic sigh, dragging my palm down my face. “God, I hate this cover-up business crap.”She gave a polite smile, clearly used to my grumbling. "Sorry, ma'am."Ivan let out a low chuckle from where he was leaning against the opposite wall, arms folded and looking effortlessly intimidating.I narrowed my eyes at him. “You think this is funny?”“You can just be very...expressive," he said, barely suppressing his smile.“I swear, sometimes I wonder why my parents don’t just hire someone else to run this branch of things. Let me focus on the real business. Guns, threats, money laundering—my happy place.”“You’re dealing with the workers today. I’m not lifting a finger.” I said, pointing a finger at him.He nodded, straight-faced. “J

ANASTASIA’S POVIvan froze as he continued to stare at me.My phone continued to buzz in his hand, but he didn’t pay any attention to it.Neither did I.My breath caught somewhere in my chest. Not because I was embarrassed, but because the look in his eyes wasn’t one I’d ever seen before. Not on him.He blinked hard, looked away, then turned swiftly on his heel. “Sorry—I didn’t mean to—” His voice trailed off as he stepped out and shut the door behind him.I stood there for another second, my heart beating faster than it should. What the hell just happened?I grabbed my robe on the bed and wrapped it tightly around myself, cinching the tie a bit too aggressively. The way he looked at me, was imprinted in my brain.I walked down the hallway barefoot, my steps muffled against the hardwood floor. Ivan was in the living room, his back turned to me.“I’m ready for that glass of wine now,” I said casually as I stepped in.He was mid-motion, lifting his shirt over his head. The soft fabric

ANASTASIA’S POV“Anna, listen, how about we deal with this when I get back?” Nolan said from the other end of the call.I stared at the screen for a moment before ending the call. Nolan’s voice still echoed in my head as I lowered the phone and handed it over to Ivan, who was standing next to me with his arms crossed.I turned my eyes back to Clara.I shook my head, my gaze fixed on her trembling form. She was tied to a steel chair in the middle of the cold room. Her face was streaked with tears, a bruise forming on her cheek from the slap earlier. A strip of duct tape hung loosely from the corner of her mouth where she’d tried to scream.I walked forward slowly, my heels echoing with each step.“Funny,” I said, stopping in front of her. “You thought we’d never find you. After Leo died, everything would just disappear, right? You could melt into the background, blend into another city, another face?”I watched as she shook her head and tried to talk, but it only came out muffled.“B
