CHAPTER 46: Riddles

ALESSANDRO’S POV:

I aggressively get to my feet, then strike my desk with my tightly clenched fists, making Gustavo and my men jolt. Fury inflames my body. Its heat blisters my flesh and boils my blood.

“Davide can’t take away my most precious subject! If I lose that subject, I’ll lose multi-billions of dollars!”

The heat nips my throat, hurting it so much that I have to gulp a glass of water after speaking. I then plod the glass back on my desk. The impact of it causes the glass to splinter and its remaining water to spill.

Gustavo awkwardly grins while scratching the back of his head. I focus my glare at him, turning his awkwardness into nervousness. He then transfers his hand from the back of his head to his thick eye glasses to… well, to just fidget.

“I understand that our subject’s disappearance will be a huge loss to us, especially to you since you’re the one who’s financing our experiment,” he says. “But, I suggest that you calm down. We can’t dismiss the probability
