Chapter 1

Sienna:

“I do.” The words played in my head, reminding me of the night that I married Diablo, the night when my whole life changed.

“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.”

Little did I know that this was the first day of everything changing. Of my whole life changing and of my world turning into something that I never expected it to. My reality becoming something that I wouldn't have thought about.

A reality that I had to live with my husband…

“You know that we are doing is unwise, right?” I said, looking at Diablo as the two of us walked inside the hotel.

And though I stayed quiet, I couldn't help the frown that formed on my face as I took sight of him amongst the faces around. Following my gaze, Diablo looked in the direction that I was looking and took his out in question. However, the man was no longer there. Alonzo was not there anymore.

“Are you okay?” Diablo asked, and I nodded.

“I could have sworn that I saw him, that I saw Alonzo in the distance. He's not there. At least I don't think he is. He wouldn't have disappeared within the crowd, not this easily.” I said, and Diablo nodded.

It was the hotel that changed my perspective about so many things. A place where I knew that I was forced to grow even though I did not want to. That was forced to see things that I did not expect to see or deal with.

“We are on safe grounds and they know better than to hurt any of us. However, don't worry, I already promised you I will not hurt any of them. I know better than to do so, even if I am tempted to.” Diablo said, and I shook my head at him. The last thing that we needed was to end up dealing with Alonzo right now, but I knew that when he heard that the man was in town, he wanted to see him.

“The question is, how do you even know that Alonzo is here? You know that this could be a diversion and if it is, then we are going to end up dealing with more than we want. The last thing that we want is to keep wasting our time, Diablo. They know that we're looking for them and they are doing their best for us to try and find them, to try and lure us there.” I said looking at him and he nodded.

“That is why, neonata sometimes I do not like to take you to some places where I have to do my dirty work. I know for a fact that there might not be there and I know that this could be a trap. I understand that very well. However, seeing Alonzo is not the one thing that I have in mind. The two of us have a little meeting. And I believe that you are going to like who you're going to meet.” Diablo said, and I raised an eyebrow at him.

“It is very rare when you believe that I'm going to like someone. For you to claim that I am tells me that the two of us know who this person is.” I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

“Of course, we do, our mutual friend and enemy.” I hummed in response as I waited to hear who it was going to be, but the car came to a stop before that could happen. I looked at the hotel for a few moments, debating, before I opened the door to walk out. It's been years since I've been here, since we've been here, and since my mother had died right before my eyes. This hotel is just a reminder of it, a reminder of how everything just shifted and changed its path.

Little did I know it was going to be a lot more painful than I expected. I stayed quiet when I opened the door and walks out and sensing that Diablo stopped. He looked at me and shook his head in question, as if asking me whether or not I wanted to do this. I did not. God knew that I did it not. But I knew that I had to. If Alonzo was alive and if my father was conspiring with him, then we were going to have to stop them. Whatever motives they had in mind, we were going to have to find them out to stop them. And right now, no matter how many times we try, no matter where we try searching, we cannot find a reason to why Alonzo would betray us the way that he did. I would not even mention my father who chose to break a deal that he chose to make. A deal for me to marry Diablo.

“You are going to get married Diablo Duraturo for the sake of the family. Everything that you hear, everything that you say and everything that they do, I want to know you are going to be my eyes and my ears and in family.” My father's words played in my head and I couldn't help but find myself closing my eyes. “Our family needs you. This marriage is needed by our family. That is something that you are going to need to keep in mind. For our family, you are going to need to do it all. You are going to need to give up on everything that you think you know. Simply because it is going to be something for our family…”

If only I had known back then that this was going to be one of the best decisions that I had made. If only I had known that it was going to show everyone's true faces to me. And if only I had known. That it was going to be the beginning of the end of so much.

If only I would have known that I would have lost everything that I knew, only to build something that was stronger, more pure and more honest.

I looked at Diablo for a moment. The man that I grew in love with, the man that I built my life with, that I turned into a different person with. And I knew that there was no going back. The two of us weren't going to do this and we were going to go till the end of it.

It was a promise that the two of us made to one another. And as painful as it was, it was a promise that I made to everyone that I had lost my brother, my mother, and the people that I once called her family after being betrayed by them.

Diablo's eyes met mine and he kissed my temple, making me smile. For a moment. I found myself relaxing and my husband's embraced, forgetting that we were here. However, it wasn't until someone spoke, it wasn't until the manager spoke that I was brought back to our reality…

“Sienna and Diablo Duraturo, It is an honor to have you here…”
