"Ray, I'm coming in."
Amora knocked on her son's bedroom door, then turned the doorknob and opened it.
Rayden was sitting curled up on his bed, his face buried between his knees.
Amora sighed softly. She walked over to him, sat on the edge of the bed, and gently patted the top of his head.
"Ray, does your wound still hurt?"
Slowly, Rayden lifted his face and gave a small smile.
But Amora could see that he was forcing himself to smile. She knew the bruise on his face still hurt.
"I'm sorry I dragged you into my past, Ray," Amora said softly, her voice filled with sorrow.
Rayden shook his head. "It doesn't hurt, Mom. I'm just sleepy," he lied again.
Amora smiled faintly. She cupped his face in her hands and said, "You can lean on me and cry, Ray. I'll always be here for you."
Rayden's eyes had been welling up with tears, but he tried to stay strong so his mother wouldn't worry. He was in pain, not just in his
“Sir, here’s the enlarged image from the screen capture.”Mark handed his phone to Regis through the open passenger window. His boss was waiting in the car for the results of his task.Mark stood by the car door, waiting for his boss’s response until Regis finally said, “Get in. Don’t I have a meeting scheduled today?”Mark nodded and quickly got into the back seat next to Regis.Regis’s personal driver, Albert Parker, started the car after receiving a nod from Mark.Mark glanced at his young master, who was intently looking at the screen of his device. Without waiting for an order, he began explaining his findings.“From the CCTV footage, this woman left in a hurry. She seemed to be scared of something.”Regis’s lips curled slightly at his assistant’s explanation. Mark had just re
"Sorry for asking you to come on such short notice, Amora. I don't have much time. My flight leaves in an hour."Hearing Biana Curtiz’s explanation, Amora smiled slightly. “It’s okay, Bia. I’m free tonight anyway. Mrs. Houston said I don’t need to work the night shift.”Biana Curtiz was Amora’s coworker at WW Mart. She had asked Amora to come to Baymoon Restaurant, where she was interning as a server.Amora had planned to make up for the morning shift she missed, but Della Houston, the manager, told her to come in tomorrow instead, as a morning shift employee had taken leave.Amora hoped to earn extra money from the night shift to pay her rent. She thought she’d be going home empty-handed tonight. But while heading home, Biana called her, asking if she could cover her shift at the restaurant.Biana wanted to see
"Welcome, Mrs. Lysander."Alvin Jones greeted one of his newly arrived guests at the entrance of Baymoon Restaurant. He hurriedly approached the middle-aged guest with his professional demeanor as a restaurant manager. However, Amora was still shocked in her place. How could she not be? She never expected to meet the person she despised the most after leaving the Lysander family residence! The woman addressed as Mrs. Lysander by the manager was Julia Brown, her aunt!Amora couldn't forget how her aunt had treated her when she was expelled by her grandfather seven years ago. The words filled with scorn and harsh sarcasm uttered by Julia still echoed clearly in her mind."Don't blame anyone, Amora. But blame yourself for being foolish, and blame your mother for bringing you into this world. Now not only is your blood tainted, but your body is too. You and your mother are truly disg
"Sorry, I'm late. My car had some trouble," said a young woman as she entered the VIP room."Finally, you're here, Chelsea. We have been waiting for you," replied Julia, standing up to welcome her.The young woman, stylish in a mini dress showing off a bit of her smooth thigh and a fur coat draped around her neck, approached Julia and greeted her with cheek kisses."Did your car break down?" Julia asked worriedly."Yes, Aunt. The engine died suddenly, so I had to take care of it," Chelsea replied, glancing at Mrs. Lorenzo, who had been watching her.Julia realized she hadn't introduced them yet. "Mrs. Lorenzo, this is the girl I wanted to introduce to you. Her name is Chelsea Harrison," she said to the woman beside her.Yes, the young woman she referred to as a 'distant relative' was Chelsea Harrison, who was also Amora's college friend!Amora couldn't believe they had this kind of relationship because Chelsea had never mentioned it. And Julia Brown never seemed to communicate with Ch
“Let's have a toast first, Mrs. Lysander.”Liliana raised her crystal glass and invited Julia to toast with her. She began to feel uneasy because her stepson had not yet shown up, keeping their guests waiting longer than necessary.“I'm sorry if my son has kept you waiting too long,” Liliana said, forcing a smile.Liliana glanced at her husband, who remained calm despite the indirect embarrassment caused by her stepson's tardiness.“It’s okay, Mrs. Lorenzo. Busy men are quite common. My husband often comes home late because of work,” Julia responded understandingly. In reality, Julia was starting to feel uneasy. She sensed that the matchmaking event might be difficult to proceed with, given that young master Lorenzo had yet to make an appearance.Julia glanced at Chelsea, who was beginning to look slightly annoyed at being ignored by her prospective match. She gently patted the young woman’s hand to calm her and signaled for her to drink with her.“I truly apologize. But he was alread
"Looks like the food has arrived."Netra Regis glanced at two chefs pushing the trolley into the room. A slight smirk appeared when he noticed the female servant still standing at the doorway. His attention shifted to the name tag on her uniform.‘So her name is Biana, huh?’ Regis thought, frowning slightly. The name felt unfamiliar to him, but seeing the wariness in her eyes made him even more intrigued to learn more about her.A smile formed on his lips again. He turned and walked back to the banquet table."The aroma of the food is really appetizing," Regis murmured, eyeing the appetizers being arranged on the table by the chefs.Ignoring everyone else's stares, Regis took an empty seat next to his father, who had argued with him earlier. His gaze shifted to Chelsea Harrison, who still looked confused but also pleased that he had decided to stay."I've been very busy with work today. I unconsciously said something very rude earlier. It seems my words and actions hurt your feelings.
Without suspecting Chelsea at all, Amora placed a bowl of tourin soup in front of her. Just as she set it down, the wine glass beside her hand suddenly toppled over.Startled, Amora quickly pulled back, even though she was sure she hadn't touched the glass. Before she could explain, Chelsea had already hurled an accusation at her."Oh my goodness! Can't you be more careful?" Chelsea snapped.Amora was taken aback. She saw Chelsea rise from her seat, worried that the wine had stained her expensive clothes.Chelsea’s loud voice drew all eyes to Amora. Seeing the faint arrogance on Chelsea's face, Amora realized she had fallen into Chelsea's trap."But I didn’t—""Are you saying it was an accident? What if the hot soup had spilled on my niece? Could you have taken responsibility for that?"Before Amora could explain that it wasn’t her fault, Julia had already risen from her seat to defend Chelsea. The older woman put on a panicked face and pretended to check Chelsea’s body to ensure no s
"Do you have any idea who our important guest is tonight, Amora?!"Alvin Jones's angry shout echoed through the VIP room. Luckily, it was just him and Amora in there. Alvin had specifically asked her to come into the empty room to address her failure to provide satisfactory service to their VIP guest. He had already received a report from Hannah about what had happened. Instead of being satisfied, their VIP guest was frustrated and disappointed.Alvin couldn't believe Amora had made such a blunder. He had trusted her abilities after seeing her dedication and skill several times when she filled in as a substitute server. He never thought she would let him down. Now, Alvin regretted giving such an important task to someone who wasn't even a full-time employee!"I should never have given you this responsibility, Amora. It's my fault for overestimating your abilities," Alvin said, his voice filled with disappointment and regret. He felt he had made a mistake in trusting her. He should hav
Amora glanced at Alicia briefly. She could see the worry in her husband's younger sister's eyes. The girl looked anxious about the question Regis had asked Amora. Secretly, Amora held back a smile."Just say it, Amora. No need to worry," Regis urged, still interrogating her. His instincts told him there was no way Alicia had done nothing to his wife.Based on what he knew about Alicia, she always caused some kind of trouble every day. Even though their father’s guards had been keeping a close eye on her lately, today she had finally been freed from her punishment. Regis was convinced that his sister had already done something to Amora."Did she say something rude to you?" Regis guessed, making Alicia even more anxious.Alicia thought she had already lost the battle. Her brother clearly wasn’t on her side. She could only curse him in her heart. She assumed Amora would complain to Regis about how she had accused her of being a thief or an intruder, along with all the mischief she had ca
"Brother!"Alicia’s loud voice instantly made Regis look up from his phone. His eyes widened in surprise as he saw Alicia running toward him, only to throw her arms around his neck like a clingy little kid.Regis froze in shock, then quickly ended his phone call. He pushed Alicia’s forehead with his index finger, forcing her to let go."What are you doing here, Alicia?" Regis asked, his gaze sharp and suspicious. He was clearly confused. He had specifically asked his secretary to bring Amora, not Alicia."Huh! You’re not happy to see me?" Alicia pouted, annoyed.Regis didn’t answer. Instead, his attention shifted as he noticed Amora walking in behind Monica."Miss Grant, why did you let someone who has no business here just waltz in like that?" Regis snapped, instantly interrogating Monica.Alicia’s face darkened. She had expected her brother not to welcome her warmly, but she hadn’t thought he would go as far as embarrassing her in front of Amora. She had come here hoping he would ta
"What? Are you scared now?" Alicia teased. She smirked arrogantly as she saw Amora's shocked expression after realizing her identity. She lifted her chin slightly, asserting her status."I don’t think I have anything to be afraid of, Miss Lorenzo," Amora replied, quickly regaining her composure.Alicia clicked her tongue in annoyance. "You haven’t forgotten what you did to my shoes, have you? I haven’t settled the score with you yet!" she snapped.Alicia wasn't about to let go of the grudge she held against Amora. The incident still irritated her to this day.Amora exhaled slowly before responding, "Didn’t I clean them and return them? What more do you want from me?""Leaving them at a café counts as returning them? You said you wanted to apologize sincerely, but what? You're such a liar," Alicia scoffed, pursing her lips in disapproval.Amora had left the shoes at the café with a waiter because she couldn’t afford to wait any longer for Alicia. Thanks to that girl, she had been late
Amora kept her gaze fixed on the girl she was quite familiar with. The girl hadn’t even noticed her presence in the elevator yet."Phew! Good thing it didn't close," The girl muttered, her face glistening with sweat. Her eyes locked onto the elevator panel, confirming that it was headed to the 30th floor, just as she wanted. "Thank you," she said, turning to Amora, who was still staring at her in disbelief. The girl furrowed her brows as she looked at Amora's face. Suddenly, her eyes widened in shock, and she pointed a finger at Amora."W-why are you here?" The girl asked.Amora didn’t answer. Instead, she threw the question back at her. "I should be the one asking you that. How did you get into this elevator?"The girl looked confused. She glanced around, double-checking that she hadn’t entered the wrong place before turning her attention back to Amora."Hey, why are you questioning me? I can go wherever I want! Besides, how did you even get in here? This is the executive elevator!"
Amora had just arrived in front of the Royal Dragon office building. She gazed in awe at the grand structure towering before her. The gleaming glass panels reflected the sunlight so intensely that she had to squint her eyes. This was the first time she had ever set foot in the office where her husband worked. The exterior design exuded luxury, leaving anyone who saw it mesmerized—including Amora herself.Even the Lysander family’s corporate building, which she had visited in the past, was nothing more than a speck of dust compared to Royal Dragon’s skyscraper.Seeing the opulence and grandeur before her, Amora suddenly felt nervous. She had actually wanted to decline Regis’s invitation for lunch at his office, but since he couldn’t leave work today, she had no choice but to comply.‘Just how wealthy is the Lorenzo family?’ Amora wondered, stunned. Her confidence seemed to waver in the face of such overwhelming luxury. Memories of her past struggles resurfaced—how she had applied to se
"Looks like there’s some progress." Estelle teased Amora, who looked flustered in front of her.Amora sighed in annoyance, turning away to avoid her friend's interrogation. “I don’t see anything wrong with us doing it. We’re both adults, after all.”A soft chuckle escaped Estelle’s lips. Once her laughter subsided, she said, “I’m really happy to see how things are going for you, Amora. I truly believe this time, you’ll find happiness with Young Master Lorenzo.”Estelle genuinely meant it. Deep down, she still felt guilty for not being able to help Amora seven years ago. She sincerely hoped Amora would be happy this time. She had endured enough hardship in the past.“Do you realize how much your husband loves you? Even Gino couldn’t believe it. Regis Lorenzo—the man who’s always been indifferent to women—actually fell to his knees for you. You’re amazing, Amora.”Estelle’s praise made Amora smile in amusement. She, too, never expected to end up with a man she once found terrifying.“St
"Ray is coming to the Waverly family's grandchild’s birthday party, right, Amora?" Estelle asked, momentarily diverting Amora's attention from checking her schedule for the next client meeting."Yeah, why?" Amora continued organizing her documents."Lately, Kimmy keeps talking about Ray. I'm getting a headache from hearing about him nonstop, and your son is truly a clone of your husband," Estelle sighed, describing how indifferent Rayden was whenever Kimmy tried to talk to him.Amora gave a small smile. "I'll remind him later. He’s probably just too shy to express himself in front of your daughter," she said, defending Rayden.Amora knew Rayden would never intentionally hurt Kimmy, even though Estelle’s daughter could be quite a handful. As his mother, she understood that Rayden deeply respected and cared for women, regardless of their age."Don't overthink it, Estelle. They don’t have siblings, so maybe Kimmy sees Ray as one. Plus, they go to the same school and are even in the same
"Welcome to Eternal Bliss. I hope you can see this place as your second home and help me create satisfying events for our clients in the future."Amora delivered her welcome speech to the ten new employees she had just recruited. Today marked their first day in the small office she and Estelle had recently purchased."This place just finished undergoing some minor renovations yesterday, so a few things might still be missing. I hope you can be patient with us and help identify anything that needs to be added," Estelle addressed the young newcomers in front of her.Though they were fresh graduates, their teamwork experience and skills were unquestionable. Amora herself had conducted the interviews and a short test to assess their capabilities."Even though our business is small and just starting, I believe that with all of us working together, we’ll grow and provide the best for our clients," Estelle added, motivating her new employees. The room quickly filled with applause and excited
The sound of knocking pulled Regis’s attention away from his laptop screen. "Come in," he said.Rayden’s face peeked out from behind the office door. The boy had come to fulfill Regis’s request from earlier."Just come in, Ray," Regis encouraged when he noticed his son’s hesitation.Rayden nodded and stepped inside. He had just finished showering and changed into his pajamas."Are you busy, Dad?" Rayden asked, eyeing the cluttered desk."Not really," Regis replied, motioning for his son to come closer. But Rayden remained standing before the desk, his eyes scanning the room. He rarely entered this office since it was usually locked.Rayden knew his father didn’t like unauthorized people entering the room, likely due to the important documents inside."What did you want to talk about?" Rayden asked, getting straight to the point.Regis closed his laptop and looked directly at his son. "I heard from your mom that you found out I’m your biological father."Rayden didn’t react. His expres
