One Week Later
The Russo household was completely buzzing with preparation as the week for the gala had arrived. Giovanni had instructed his team to go to the venue earlier on and make sure that they were prepared for any bad outcome that might occur in the gala. Giovanni was currently inside the in-house shooting range practicing his aim.
As usual he was an exceptional shooter because all of his bullets were hitting the red target. He was so involved in his shooting that he had not noticed that Alice had entered the shooting range too. She stood behind her brother cringing at the sound of the gunshots until she could not take it anymore, she tapped her brother on his shoulder.
On instinct Giovanni quickly turned around with the gun pointed at his sister, Alice felt like her heart would jump out of her body.
“Wait…. Gio it is just me. Please put that down.” Alice said with her hand which was now on her heart.
Giovanni slowly put his gun down a
Today was the day of the gala and Giovanni was determined to make a statement at today’s event. He and Luca were seated inside Alice’s studio as she was dashed around the racks of clothing around the studio.“Boss, when do you think she’s going to attend to us.” Luca asked as a small smile played on his face.“She is in her element Luca, so you know the answer to that question.” Giovanni answered sleekly.“At this rate we might even miss the event.” Luca said and a low laugh followed thereafter.“I can hear you Luca.” Alice’s voice rang from behind one of the many racks of clothing. Luca laughed under his breath because he could hear her frown through her words. “Caught red handed.” Luca said more too himself but was still heard by Giovanni. Alice finally popped up from one of the racks looking overly excited with herself.“Okay, boys time to dre
The squad were seated in comfortable silence until O’Brian decided to break the ice with his comment, “guys how much do you want to bet that captain probably chose a black dress.” O’Brian said with a smirk.“I doubt it.” Alex said and continued to browse through his phone. “I mean can she go any other colour? She loves the colour black and white is as far as she has ever gone.” O’Brian added.“Well, we could always bet.” Mica said looking up from his drawings.“This is not going to end well.” Wyatt said as he tied his dreads in a ponytail.“Alright, what will we be betting on?” O’Brian asked excitingly.“Let us bet on our next pay, all of it no questions asked. It will be split between people who had voted for and against the idea of the colour black.” Wyatt said and laughed.“I thought you said that this would end
Sofia was in the driver’s seat and Becca was in the passenger seat besides her. Before Sofia got in the sport car she had made sure to remover her heels because she knew that they would definitely disturb her driving. She was smiling at the moment because she was so very right with her decision and did not regret it at all. “You look happy captain.” Becca said as she looked at Sofia now and again. “Becca, if you want our uncover operation to work you need to stop calling me captain. At least not tonight.” Sofia replied as she took a right turn down another street. ‘Oops, my bad I almost went out of character.’ Becca said and laughed. ‘Don’t you always.’ O’Brian’s voice said through the earpiece. “O’Brian, why are you still connected to this channel? You will interfere with the mission if you talk while we are busy.” Sofia said sternly. “Sorry about that captain I just could not resist messing with Becca before you arrived at your desti
Samantha and Brittany mad their way to where Don Russo was and stood close but not to close. Samantha looked up at the painting before her and she smiled.“What are you smiling about?” Brittany asked loud enough for Don Russo and Luca’s ears to hear.“I am smiling at the masterpiece before me Brittany.” Samantha replied elegantly.“Honestly speaking I don’t see what you see.” Brittany answered.“The painting speaks about a person’s loneliness even though they are surrounded by people almost all the time.” Don Russo’s deep voice said. Brittany pretended to be startled although she had seen him approach them slowly. Samantha smiled because their little discussion caught their attention.“Oh, I see there is someone here who appreciates artwork as much as I do.” Samantha said as she turned around to look at Don Russo.“Good evening, beautiful lady.” D
Giovanni felt drown to the woman he just met earlier, and he noticed that she wore a dress made by Alice. He told himself that he would go through every security camera of every store that belongs to them so he could catch a glimpse of her again. Giovanni was so distracted with his thoughts that he didn’t hear Luca talking to him.“Boss, can you hear me?” Luca insisted one more time. “Oh sorry, what did you say?” Giovanni asked as he finally turned his attention to Luca.“Did you not find those two-woman strange?” Luca asked because he felt like he knew the lady in gold.“Uhm, I did find them a little strange, but we can’t judge people just because they are acting weird.” Giovanni said and but his hands behind his back.“Let me scout them in the gala and see who they are mingling with so we can have an idea of the kind of people they are.” Luca said still feeling uneasy.
“Mr Del Mata, come join me at the west side of this hall.” Sofia spoke through the earpiece. “Understood Miss Sofia.” Del Matta answered. “Becca, I hope you made it to the exist already.” Sofia said as she ran and ducked through the chaos to get to their escape exist. “Rest assured, I have arrived, and I also see Mr Del Matta making his way here and a little trouble too. “Mica, change of plans leave through the front door and meet up with Alexis.’ Sofia said as she finally caught sight of Del Matta reaching Becca by the window. “Roger that, captain.” Mica’s voice rang through the earpiece. “Where do you think you are going?” Luca said behind Sofia. “Don Russo’s best mate and right-hand man.” Sofia turned around to face him. “We have met before, haven’t we?” Luca spoke with utmost certainty as he approached her. “Stop making advances my dear Luca. It doesn’t matter if we have met before because I don’t plan on me
Sofia managed to crawl away from the broken window pieces and carefully managed to pull out the pieces of glasses that were deeply poking in her skin.“Shit, that hurts.” Sofia exclaimed as she removed the last of the glasses. She pulled out her small bang that was inside her clutch bag and pulled out a tube. Sofia carefully plugged the tube to the crystal to draw out the blood that had formed in her eye. She then pulled out a new crystal ball and replaced it with the old one. Sofia seated quietly in the dark as she heard running footsteps outside the room she was currently in.She tried to use her earpiece to contact Alex, but she noticed that it was broken, and she didn’t have time to try and fix it. As much as she hated being unprepared, she knew she would have to get out of this situation and fast.Sofia took in a deep breath as she pulled herself up to her feet and dragged her bleeding and painful body to the door. She poked her head from
The crew members that went on the mission finally arrived at the academy underground parking and parked their vehicles. Alex was the first to get out from the car and he marched towards the van Mica and Alexis were in. He flung Alexis door open and stood there as he stared at her angrily.“Do you have something to say?” Alexis asked as she got off the vehicle.“What were you thinking when you disobeyed direct orders!” Alex voiced very much frustrated.“I believed she needed help.” Alex added with a serious expression even though deep down she just wanted to mess up the mission. Becca also got off from the same car as Alex and stomped angrily towards Alexis.“You always do whatever the hell you want Alexis, but you know what? This time you really went overboard.“I second that….” Mica said from inside the car as he sighed deeply.“She sounded like she had everything unde
Sofia awoke to the faint light of dawn creeping through the small window in her room, her body still aching but no longer burning with the searing pain from the capsule. The remnants of the drug lingered in her veins, leaving her weak, but she felt stronger than the night before. The haze that had clouded her mind had lifted, replaced by a sharp awareness of her surroundings. She shifted slightly in bed, her movements slow and deliberate. Her muscles protested with every effort, but she managed to sit up. As her eyes adjusted to the dim light, she noticed Alex sitting at the foot of her bed, slumped in a chair, his head resting against the wall. He must have stayed the entire night, she thought, her gaze softening for a brief moment. The exhaustion on his face was clear, even in his sleep. She didn’t want to wake him, but there were matters to attend to. They had lost precious time, and now they needed to prepare. Don Russo wasn’t going to wait for them to recover. With a quiet sigh,
Alex kept his arm firmly around Sofia's waist as they made their way through the maze of corridors, his grip steady despite the turmoil swirling inside him. Sofia's breathing had become shallow, each step a clear strain as the effects of the capsule took full hold. She was trembling slightly, her body fighting against the drug that was sapping her strength.Sofia hated this. Every inch of her body ached with the betrayal of her own muscles, the burning sensation spreading like wildfire through her veins. She tried to focus on walking, to maintain some semblance of control, but each step felt heavier than the last. Her vision blurred, and she stumbled, her weight shifting precariously into Alex's arms."Easy," Alex murmured, tightening his grip to steady her. His voice was soft, but there was a tension there—worry he couldn’t hide."Don't... don't treat me like I'm helpless," Sofia muttered, her voice weaker than she intended. She didn’t want him, or anyone for that matter, to see her l
The tension in the room was suffocating as Sofia struggled to maintain her composure. Her body was weakening quickly, but her mind was still sharp enough to catch the subtle glances and whispers among the assassins in the hall. She could feel the weight of their distrust bearing down on her. They were looking for a flaw, a crack in her defences that would confirm their suspicions.Alex stood close by, his arms crossed as he kept his eyes locked on Alexis. The venom in her gaze hadn’t lessened, and it was clear she wasn’t convinced that Sofia’s return was as simple as it appeared. The tension between them was palpable, an unspoken challenge hanging in the air, waiting for someone to make the first move.Master Carlos, sensing the brewing conflict, stood from his seat and walked toward Sofia. His expression was calm, but his eyes carried the weight of years spent leading assassins—he had seen betrayals, mistakes, and death far too often. He stopped just a few feet in front of her, his ga
It was time for Alex and Sofia to depart and they were still not talking. Arthoro did not know how they would pull this off if they were still not talking to each other. He was standing outside to see them off because it felt like it would be the last time, he saw them.“Why are you seeing as off Arthoro?” Sofia asked with a frown on her face.“Is that bad? It can’t be as bad as you two not getting along” Arthoro replied with a bright smile.“Stop that.” Sofia frowned more while Alex just whined at the driver’s seat.“What are you talking about?” Arthoro said, playing dumb“Why are you smiling like that?” Sofia asked.“Time is very precious, so can we be on the road already? We don’t want someone spotting you here.” Alex finally spoke up. Arthoro kept his mouth shut and his lips formed a straight line.“Until we meet again.” Sofia muttered as she entered the car and Alex drove away. Alex’s car windows were tinted so nobody could see them as they drove through the streets.“How long?” S
“What kind of allies are we talking?” Alexis asked as she finally sat down. “The kind that would back you back even if you have no hope left for the future.” Madam Lee said with another smirk. “Can you stop speaking in riddles and just tell me what you want already!” Alexis was upset and this conversation was nit helping her current state at all. “Why do you act like you are stupid Alexis? We will have a gathering with potential people soon because as far as I am concerned. You will not win this trial against Alex.” Madam Lee leaned back on her chair. “Why not?” Alexis asked, feeling a little offended. “Why do you think he was so bold to speak up today?” “Isn’t he always this bold?” Madam Lee sighed as she rose from the chair. “Do you really believe that is the only reason for his actions? Why are you behaving like you have no common sense at all?” Madam Lee added as she moved around the office. “I think it would be easier if you just told me what the problem really is instead o
“Exactly what I mean Madam Lee. Sometimes Alexis doesn’t think with her head, so how can she lead a team of assassin’s with just a trait.” Alex said truthfully not just because this was Sofia’s plan, but he genuinely thought that she still had a long way before she could lead anyone. “Alex, you have never liked my presence in the team, and you are taking this opportunity to slander me.” Alexis said angrily. “I have to agree with Alex there, he is more of a right-hand man than you are to your captain Alexis.” Bianca said and everyone moved their head’s around to see where she was speaking from. “Thank you, Bianca.” Alex said and sat down. “From everyone’s observation of Alex, do you agree with his opinion?” Master Carlos asked the audience. “I have to agree with Alex too because we all saw that he was the best candidate for vice-captain but unfortunately Alexis stole that position.” Max the captain from the War Squad said confidently.
Alex had finished his conversation with Sofia and had even watched her eat before leaving her in the car of Arthoro. He disliked the idea but right now only he could help her until she started feeling much better. As soon as he got far away from Sofia’s home and made sure no one would piece anything together, he turned back his tracker. Alex was speeding through the streets and transports until he finally reached the academy again. He scanned his hand so the door could open.“Access granted, welcome home Alex.” The computer-generated voice said before the door opened for him and he walked in. He was a little late for Alexis interrogation trial, but he knew that they would start with him. He wasn’t wrong there because it seemed like they, themselves were running late when he walked through the door of the trial room. His squad members seemed relieved to see him walk through the room because they had been calling him but because he d
Giovanni was still very upset and the air around them was still very tense. Bernie felt like he was going to suffocate because Ava and Giovanni were glaring daggers at each other. To clear the air he coughed before speaking, “I will have to apologise on behalf of my partner, she is a little tense today.” Bernie said with a forced smile.“At least your partner has manners. Now, let us get right down to the reason you are actually here for. What do you want from me?” Giovanni said as he waited for one of the detectives to speak. Ava looked like she wanted to talk but Bernie decided he was going to beat her too it or else they wouldn’t get anywhere today.“Mr Russo, we want to ask you a few questions about what happened at the gala.” Bernie asked as he pulled out his small note pad.“Nothing special really.” Giovanni said and smirked purposefully as he directed it at Ava. “Answer
Alex had already arrived at Sofia’s place, and he was sitting on the couch, watching her sleep soundly. For as long as he has known her she hardly slept so peaceful, so he decided to take this opportunity to admire her peaceful face. Alex was beyond relieved when Arthoro called last night to tell him that she was okay. Even though Sofia has rejected his affection for her countless of times, he still values her life more than anything. He knew for a fact that if she had not been found, he was going to make Alexis pay because she was the one who caused the mess in the first place. Sofia wined and groaned while her eyes were still closed, and Alex quickly stood up so he could see if she was in any kind of pain. He rushed onto the bed, trying his very best not to wake her but he failed miserably because she suddenly jolted from the bed, hand aiming at his throat, but he managed to stop her just in time. “I was so wrong about you sleeping peacefully. You almost ki
