"I'm not going anywhere with you," Arya growled at Hernandez, folding her arms stubbornly.

"Don't make this difficult," he said calmly, tugging her arm softly. "Please."

Juan who was about to leave turned back and walked towards Arya. "Do not be disobedient, follow him."

"No!" She was resolved to stand her ground.

Juan rolled his eyes and scooped her up, flinging her across his shoulder. "Let me go!" She screeched, her legs and arms flailing about but Juan remained unbothered. He walked up the Gran staircase easily and took her to one of the rooms that were empty and placed her down on the bed.

"You are not to leave here," he said ok a firm voice. "Take a shower, everything you'll need is here. A maid and nurse shall attend to you."

With that, he walked out of the room and locked it from the outside. Then he handed the key to Hernandez.

Arya let out a scream she had kept inside her for so long. She was frustrated with everything happening around her. There was no detailed explanati

"You brought her here?" Belle screeched, slapping Juan's hand from Arya face. The sound echoed round the room. He used his other hand to stop her from making contact with Arya's face. Arya's eyes widened in shock and she stood up from the bed and inched away from a fuming Belle whose chest heaved as she observed Arya with undiluted hatred; her dark eyes that flashed with hurt were boring holes through Arya."Be careful," Juan said coldly, standing up to face her squarely. Belle looked offended by his gesture. "Why?" She said, her voice breaking. "Why would you bring her here?""Why are you here," Juan asked. His countenance betrayed a look of annoyance. "I didn't invite you over.""I'm your girlfriend Juan, I don't have to be invited over.""I never asked you to be my girlfriend Belle," Juan said in a very calm voice. "You simply assumed you were because we were intimate and went on dates."Belle's face was flushed with embarrassment. "She's just one of your whores isn't she?" She a

No, I'll meet you there. Juan replied to his text and then tucked his phone in his pocket. "I do not want to leave this place," Arya said. "I am terrified. What if I get kidnapped or worse, I get—" Arya wanted to play victim so she could go through the house and know the best way to escape but Juan was not having any of it. "You will be with me, you will be safe."She pursed her lips and resolved to follow him when a thought crossed her mind. If she was to go out with Juan, then it was going to be easier for her to run away. The only problem she had was that she had no form of money. A maid was already waiting in the room and a dress had been laid out for her together with jewellery pieces. Arya's eyes ran over it, trying to calculate their worth. If she ran away with the jewellery on her, she could get it sold and have some money to run away. "The dress is beautiful," she smiled at Juan. "Go on, wear it.""Um... Can you excuse me then? I have to change.""How does my presence pr

But Juan was a man of pride who did not like backing down. He let go of her dress but stood his ground. "Get changed," he rolled his eyes. "Stop being difficult."She was still shaken up and even though her mouth was open, words did not come out. Tears were sliding down her cheeks, ruining her makeup. "You have ruined your makeup," Juan hissed. "Why the hell are you crying?"She shuddered and shrank into a corner, suddenly terrified of Juan. Her mind was a whirlwind of chaos, thinking of the possible things he could do to harm her. If he was so adamant in owning her, that could only mean she would end up becoming his sex slave. "I give you five minutes to sort yourself." With heavy steps, he marched out of the room. She met him downstairs in about fifteen minutes, dressed in the silk red dress that had a draped neckline, revealing a bit of her cleavage. The dress had a slit rose high on her thigh and it was strapless. It hugged her body seductively, revealing her curves in the mos

Dominic was beyond annoyed as he stormed away from his guards but not because the girl was missing. He was annoyed because the reason Arya was missing might have to do with Juan and he did not like to think that his rival has outsmarted him. Sighing, he decided that he would sort it later on as he had an important dinner to attend that night. When he got to his office to sign some papers before getting dressed, he was surprised to see a suitcase on his desk. He has been the one to unlock the door and no one else had the key so how was sit possible? He scrutinized it with utmost suspicious prying at his heart but opened it nonetheless. The dinner was a bore to Arya. All that was going on was an auction, men eating and drinking and talking business but everything they said was a bit coded. It was from the conversation however that she discovered Juan was into the wine business; he had a vinefields of grapes and had orchards across several countries. His enemy Dominic was also into a similar business but they had illegal businesses she could not really get wind of from the conversation. "Excuse me," Arya mumbled to Juan standing up. She had already found a way to escape from him. She would go to the restroom and that way he wouldn't be able follow her. Instead of going to the restroom, she would find an exit and run away. "Where are you going love?" He asked in a sensual voice standing and putting his hand on the small of her back. "I need to use the restroom," she smiled at him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I'll be right back love."Juan did not miss the sarcastic tone when she called him 'love'. "Let's go."

"Juan," Arya said in a trembling voice as she stood up and backed away from him. "I—""Explain yourself," he said in a dangerously calm voice, moving towards her. He trapped her against the wall with his hand placed above his head; his talk frame loomed over her making Arya feel so small. She swallowed hard and whimpered softly. Everything had been going well so how the hell had Juan known where to find her?"I just... Needed some fresh air," she lied, looking away from him. He was obviously not going to believe her but she decided to push her luck. "And somehow you ended up at a jeweller's trying to sell what I gave you?" He raised his brows. "No-no.""That's what it looks like angel, or should I say devil?""I run this city mio Angelo. There's no place you run to that I won't find out." His thumb caressed her cheeks softly. "I'll make sure to punish you," he murmured in a menacing way. Those words sent a shiver down Arya's spine because somehow, she knew he would be true to his w

"I make the rules here angel, do you want to be carried again?" Huffing in annoyance, she began to follow him. On getting the car he opened it for her before getting in. He drove through the city in silence, his free hand resting on her thigh. Arya tried removing it severally but it was to no avail as he was unloved by her actions. After a while, she let it be. The city began to fade away soon and they were surrounded by water on the left and trees on the right side. As they journeyed on, the water was sparse and the trees began to dwindle. Poorly constructed houses began to appear at intervals till they got to a sight that was in ruins. A path however has been carved into that place and Juan drove through it till they got to a place packed with trees and a lot of foliage where there

With a nod that said a thousand words to his men, he strolled out of the dilapidated building. They began to trudge the path they had come only for Juan to suddenly halt in his tracks. He gently put Arya onto her feet and motioned for her to be quiet and stay put.He trod carefully on the path, making sure to barely make a sound as he peeked through the bushes. With a furrowing of his brows, he dialled a number on his phone and murmured words that Arya couldn't hear. "Stay behind me love," Juan said. "I'll have my men watch your back," he told a confused Arya. Clasping her hand in his, he led her back to where his car had been parked. Juan scrutinized it suspiciously; everything about his car looked fine but the footprints he had noticed did not belong to the boots of his men. He made sure they all ha

"You're right," Juan responded with a sigh. His jaw tightened ever so slightly and we walked off. She was indeed right and it had taken him a lot to admit that. The real reason he had even done that wa because he was too mentally exhausted to argue. Then he stopped in his tracks and turned to face her. "What were you going to ask me?""Never mind about that," she said with a right smile and began walking away, but of course, her short legs could only take her so far and it wasn't up to a second Juan was grabbing her by the waist, turning her body to face him. His fingers moved nervously, as if he didn’t know what to do with them. He was clearly holding back anger.Dominic’s voice came clearly from the speakerphone. He sounded calm, like this wasn’t a big deal to him. “I got rid of him. I fired him.”Juan stopped for a second, then shook his head. “Why? What did he do?”“He sold the layout of my estate,” Dominic said simply. “Gave it to one of my rivals.”Juan let out a sharp breath, part surprise and part anger. “Honestly, I’m shocked you didn’t just kill him.”There was a low chuckle on the other end of the line. “Yeah, me too,” Dominic admitted. “Should’ve just taken him out.”There was a pause. Then Dominic asked, “So tell me… what’s going on with him now? Why are you asking about Marco?”Juan’s eyes narrowed. “That’s none of your business.”“Oh come on,” Dominic said. “Don’t you think your old

“What have you got?” he asked after a moment, his eyes shifting over to look at Hernandez. Hernandez didn’t hesitate. “The gardener. The man who was seen walking toward Belle’s car on the day of the crash. We identified him. His name is Marco Bellini.” Juan’s forehead wrinkled, confused. “Bellini?” “Yes,” Hernandez said with a nod. “The tech team ran the security footage through facial recognition. The footage wasn’t perfect—the car was parked near a blind spot—but one of the cameras caught him from a side angle. It was quick, but clear enough. We see him walking near the back gate just a few minutes before the crash happened.” Hernandez swiped through a few images and files on his phone, and turned the screen toward Juan. “Look. Right here.” Juan took the device and squinted at the screen. The image was blurry, but a man was definitely there. “That’s him?” “Yes. It’s a positive ID. His name is Marco Bellini. He’s Italian. Looks to be in his mid-thirties. He used to work for Domin

"No, we didn't," Juan said, shaking his head. Belle crossed her arms and bit the inside of her cheek. She stared hard at Juan, hurt clear in her eyes.“You used to act like I was the only one that mattered,” she said softly. “Like I was the only person you ever really looked at.”Juan let out a tired sigh. He rubbed his hand down his face like he was already done with the conversation.“You were the only girl I really cared about,” he said in an exasperated manner, “but it wasn’t anything deep, Belle.”She blinked. “Not deep?”He didn’t flinch. His voice wasn’t mean, just flat. He didn't want to hurt her but there was no nicer way to put it. “I mean, I never felt that way about you. Sure, we slept together. But it was just sex. I didn’t think you had feelings for me.”Belle’s face twitched like she was going to cry, but she quickly pulled herself together. She adjusted herself on the wheelchair, trying to blink back the tears. “And why the hell not?” she asked, raising her brows. J

"And the only way your break would have been tampered with is bubs staff.""The only way they would have known what time you were leaving was by a staff as well," Hernandez said. "Why would they do that? I haven't offended anyone.'"Obviously to get to me... And distract me from something else.""And you didn't think to tell me?" She asked angrily. The door didn’t open.“Arya—”“I’m fine,” her voice said from inside the bathroom. It sounded calm but it didn’t feel real.Juan sighed and ran a hand through his head in frustration. Low-key, he knew that this was going to be the case. “Can you open the door?”“I said I’m fine," she replied in a sharp tone, but her voice didn't sound fine at all. He paused. He rested his hand flat on the door. “I didn’t know Belle would say something like that. I wasn’t ready for it—”“Neither was I,” Arya said. Her voice was quieter now. “You don’t have to explain. You don’t owe me anything, Juan.”Her words hurt him.“That’s not how I see it—”“You didn’t ask me to come here,” she said. “You used your money to take me away from one prison, and now I’m in another one. I’m not angry at you. I’m just tired.”Juan didn’t answer right away. What could he say? Everything she said was true. He had taken her from a bad place. But he didn’t give her freedom. Not really. And unlike you, she doesn’t treat people like they’re beneath her.”“She’s not your equal,” Belle said, her voice sharp. “She’s a stray. She would’ve earned that money back in four years, maybe less. But sure. Since you paid, maybe I’ll leave her alone. Or maybe not.”“I didn’t call to argue about her,” he said. “I want to know if you had anything to do with my shipment being almost taken.”Dominic chuckled again. “What shipment?” he asked. Juan was not sure if he was playing dumb or completely innocent. “I didn’t know you had one. But now that I do, I’m a little disappointed.
