DELUCA

I stepped into the place, finding a tied up Colton by the door side, with another drinking male seated on a rocking chair. Already looking too far gone to notice us.

I sighed with annoyance and gave a signal and Henry walked up to the guy who scrambled to get up but Henry gave him a soft push that had him stumbling back down and my eyes narrowed as I gave a short glance between a grinning Lucas and a smirking Henry.

Fuckers.

I aimed a gun at Colton whose eyes widened with fear and his mouth opened in a silent scream as I fired the gun thrice in quick succession.

The binds all fell off as the bullets sliced through them and I turned around to leave, hearing a dull shot being fired with laughter from Henry inter-mingling with that of Lucas as they followed me out.

'Boss what about Colton?" Lucas asked as we all got into the car with Colton still stumbling out from the rundown building.

"Let him find his way here, find out what happened to Kane, Henry" I ordered Henry who nodded

ELENA I walked slowly through the cemetery, my footsteps muffled by the soft earth beneath me. The breeze carried the scent of damp grass and wilted flowers, and though the sun hung low in the sky, a chill clung to my skin. I kept glancing over my shoulder — a habit I’d developed lately without realizing. Like something or someone might be there… watching.I’d given Mr. Leo the day off so he could spend time with his family. I told him I’d be fine — I needed this moment alone. Just me and the silence. Just me and Lorenzo.Approaching his grave, I took a steadying breath and removed my sunglasses, the world suddenly sharper beneath the gray light. Kneeling beside the headstone, I gently brushed away the leaves and dust that had gathered at its base. My fingers lingered on the cold stone, as if I could feel him through it somehow.I set a fresh bouquet of white lilies in the vase — his favorite — and looked up at the inscription carved into the granite. Lorenzo Russo. The name alone ha

ELENA I felt… different after visiting Lorenzo’s grave. Not the kind of heavy sadness that used to grip me since his death—the kind that threatened to swallow me whole. No. This time, something had shifted. I felt stronger, steadier—like a new version of myself was beginning to emerge. A woman forged in pain, but no longer consumed by it.“Hello, dear,” I said to the lady at the front desk as I walked into the bodyguard agency. She greeted me with a bright, welcoming smile, and I returned it with a nod.“Welcome to Titan Shield Security,” she said, standing to her feet.“Please, have a seat, ma’am,” she added, gesturing to the chair across from her desk.Their reception was impressive—warm, professional. I silently hoped their service would match the first impression.“How can we be of help, ma’am?” she asked with that same glowing smile, as I found myself distracted by the wall lined with framed photos of stern-looking men in tailored suits and tactical gear—bodyguards, each one wit

DELUCA Wait,” I said, my fingers closing around her arm—firm enough to stop her, but not enough to hurt. Not yet.She froze. I felt the subtle shift in her body, the quickened pulse beneath her skin. She was trying to stay composed, but I knew her too well.“Let go, DeLuca,” she said, voice steady, but the steel in it cut deep. “I’m not in the mood.”I loosened my grip but didn’t release her. Not yet. I leaned in, my tone low and deliberate, brushing the line between warning and provocation.“Hiring six bodyguards?” I murmured. “Planning a war… or just afraid of your own shadow?”Her eyes locked onto mine without flinching. “Neither,” she snapped. “Just protecting myself from scavengers like you.”A smirk tugged at the corner of my mouth. Damn. She never failed to catch me off guard.“You know,” I said, finally letting go and straightening the lapels of my suit, “if you’d agreed to work with me, you wouldn’t need so much protection.”“I don’t need your protection,” she said, stepping

DELUCAI quickly but steadily drove down to the casino where he said he was. Soon, I was parking the car and entering the building. My head nodded in response to the greetings from the people inside as I made my way to the dark hallway that led to my office.I glanced at the left hallway that led to Lorenzo's office before shaking off the urge to stop by.Right now, I had to get to Lucas—whatever he had for me had to be worth the mystery. As soon as I reached the office door, I pushed it open and stepped inside. The chair swiveled around, revealing a smirking Lucas gazing at me.“What do you have for me?” I asked slowly, stalking toward him.“The location of Kane—and it's in a very good place, I tell you.” His voice was full of confidence and a sort of sick excitement. I knew whatever came next, I was going to love the sound of it.“What?” I asked again—for the fifth time—and he laughed at my impatience.“Mr. O’Connor. One of the Four.”My whole body went numb at the statement as it e

ELENAEarly the next morning, I woke up to a splash of cold water that went straight up my nose, sending me into a coughing fit.I didn’t recall signing up for military training, so who had the audacity to wake me up this way—and with the coldest water possible? My mental rant came to a screeching halt when I saw Sarah’s panicked face hovering above me.I quickly sat up, slamming my head into hers, and we both groaned from the pain that exploded in my skull.“What the hell, Sarah?” I cried out, rubbing the sore spot as I stood up to grab some ice and prevent swelling.“We have men in black standing around our house—at the front door—and they won’t leave,” she explained, pain still etched on her face as we padded down the stairs into the kitchen.Once I had the ice pressed to my forehead, her words finally sank in.My hackles rose as I slowly picked up a pan—though it wouldn't do much good since I’d left my actual gift upstairs while rushing for ice.She gave me a look of disbelief bef

ElenaJustice...This single word had me dressed in black, with a matching face mask, ready to find something—anything—about my late husband's death. It was nighttime, I knew. It was also dangerous, maybe even reckless. But today, Deluca had struck a nerve.I slowly and quietly padded down the stairs, careful to avoid the patrolling bodyguard I’d hired for the estate, then went straight to the garage. I picked out a soundless bike Lorenzo had gotten me years ago.I’d found it funny and unnecessary when he first gave it to me, but he had said I would need it one day.He was right again, it would seem. The thought brought pain to my chest, but it also strengthened my resolve to find out more about his death—and get the justice he deserved.I left the garage with ease and made my way to the casino in no time. When I arrived, the whole place was dark and empty, save for the patrolling guards. They were fierce at first, but as soon as they saw my face, they let me in. I made my way quickly

Elena"Elena, you came."Francesca sounded surprised that I was here again, and I gave him a small smile. I’d been feeling rather good recently. Every time I recalled my father and Sarah having the protection they needed, I felt relief—and that turned into excitement. It was a rare occurrence since Lorenzo passed away...My heart twinged with pain, but I brushed it away before taking a seat across from him."You look different," he observed, a small smile playing on his lips."Yeah, I finally arranged protection for Father and Sarah.""Sarah? She wouldn’t like that." He laughed shortly, and I gave him a playful glare.I was always so free with him—and with Sarah."Of course she would—because she won’t know, and you won’t tell her."I pointed at him, and he gave me a short look before making a zipping motion across his lips."Good. You asked me for something the other day—what was it?" I finally got to the real reason I was here, apart from seeing the kids."Ah, yes, I did. I need your

Deluca"That was cold."A whistle sounded from behind me, and I didn't have to turn around to know who it was—Lucas."She needed to hear it," I simply said, eyes still on the bend Elena had disappeared into. Her eyes had communicated something to me when I said all those words—hurt. Utter despair, right before a realization—and she concealed it. Whatever that realization was, I wasn't sure I wanted to know. Or perhaps I did."Come on, something's happening at the casino," he beckoned, and I finally tore my eyes away from the bend to stare at him, my brows furrowing."What's happening?" I asked. The casino was one of the only places where exciting things rarely happened, so this was a bit surprising."Some resident folks are protesting for—you will not like this—but... it's for the death of O'Connor."I sucked in a deep breath as my spine straightened and a coldness seeped into my chest. What he said really sank in."They're doing what?" My voice was deathly calm as I pinned him down w

The next, his dark eyes locked onto mine with all the precision of a sniper. And just like that, I froze. My first instinct was to look away—pretend I was lost in thought or distracted by the kids—but it was useless. He was already moving. Strolling toward me with that quiet intensity that always made my skin feel too tight. I could practically feel the weight of each step he took, like the earth shifted just to let him pass.I exhaled slowly, steadying my nerves as I straightened my spine. This was not the time to show weakness. Not with him. Not after everything.“Deluca,” I managed, forcing the name past the knot tightening in my throat. He stopped just a few feet away, hands in his pockets, eyes unreadable. Still, there was something in his ga

The bright lights in the kitchen of my old home made me blink, but my vision quickly adjusted.Tears stung my eyes as I struggled to stay calm, watching a treasured memory unfold before me like a movie playing in real time. This was what she had been reduced to—a memory."Adrian, be careful! Don’t go stealing all my cookies, you little thief!"For a quiet young boy, I adored my mother’s cooking. To me, it was the best in the world. It was as if the younger me instinctively knew our time together would be short, so he tried to savor every moment before it vanished. That was when the nightmare intruded on the memory.Blood. As I reached to power on my system, Nichole walked in."Good morning, sir," she greeted, her tone crisp and professional.I nodded and offered her a tired smile."Can I get you your usual, boss?" she asked, leaning forward ever so slightly, a subtle arch in her posture that didn’t go unnoticed."Yes, thanks," I replied, already turning my attention back to the screen in front of me."DeLuca."The sharp sound of my name pulled my gaze up. Nichole was struggling to keep Camila from barging in."Nichole, it’s okay. I’ll take it from here," I said, my voice calm."Who’s the bitch now?"
