Mia’s pov

The ride back home was silent and my eyes remained glued to the glass of the car until we pulled up at the house. I alighted the car almost immediately and headed into the house.

My heart was feeling constricted and it felt like I was about to cry whenever I breathe too fast. I couldn’t believe that Lorenzo had done that.

He had basically dangled me in my parents like I was some sort of toy, uncaring of how it was gonna affect me. Whenever the image of my mother’s terrified face clears through my eyes, I always end up sucking in a deep breath so I wouldn’t burst into tears.

I stood in the sitting room, sucking in deep breaths and trying to stop myself from bursting into tears right now. This wasn’t the time for that right now. Now, what I needed to do was to be getting ready to confront Lorenzo.
