Miscarriage

She ran to me and I held her tight. She looked up at me, her eyes swollen from lack of sleep. “ I-I’m so sor-ry Alejandro, I-I didn’t.”

“ Shh, shh, baby. That doesn’t matter.” I said soothingly, as I caressed her face and kissed her. I thought I would never get to hold her again.

I hugged her and she winced in pain. I looked down at her and noticed her eyes were full of tears. She grabbed hold of me, “ It hurts, Alejandro. It hurts so ba-ad.” She spoke then she fell into my arms unconscious

. Panic struck me as I saw blood seeping through her clothing. What the fuck?

“ Sir, we have to take her now. SIR! You have to move out of our way NOW!”

I watched helpless as the EMTs lifted Katarina onto a gurney and began to wheel her away. They put an oxygen mask on her while another started CPR.

“ We’re losing her," I heard one of the EMTs say as she continued to take her pulse.
