"Oh, come now, Honey, you shouldn't go about taking these things so hard." The words rolled out of the brunette's mouth with a playful giggle as she curled a strand of hair around her right index finger. The noise was muted by the booming base of the club music, so only those nearby could she more than the bright smile and silent laughter that followed.
"After all, you've been doing all that extra work that makes it difficult to come and play. Right, Cheryl?" Raven-haired, short women chimed in, agreeing with the brunette. The two nodded as Honey huffed while biting down on the straw that belonged to the fruity drink set before her. As always, the corner of the club these women occupied was the most active space beyond the ever-popular dance floor. What wasn't expected, however, was hardly much of a hard time the other girls gave her.
"Blaming me for dealing with necessary evils? I never thought I would live to see the day you would turn your back on me. Even going so far as to steal my one favorite toy." Watching the tall blonde woman pout childishly caused peels of laughter to ripple through the other women. Hands slammed down hard on the table as the blonde stood up. Had what she said honestly been that funny? Honey scowled back in disapproval as she finished the rest of her drink.
"If that is how you all will be, I will find someone else to spend the rest of the evening with." Unlike recent nights, she could pick from plenty of charming little toys around. Toys that would at least treat her with the respect and adoration that she deserved. However, Honey Drop never made it out of her seat as the other women clamored over her to keep her in place.
Hungry eyes couldn't stop feasting on the lovely sight before them, even if they would never get close. Such behavior triggered a dark desire and hunger that couldn't easily be ignored. After all, men were creatures that didn't know how to restrain themselves. Oh, how they would be willing to pay any price if only to be able to touch them for five minutes…
Alas. No price would be high enough. Thus, they would have to settle for watching the brawl from afar. Silently hoping one of the upcoming nights, they'd be able to catch one of the women's attention.
"What in the hell, ladies?! First, you verbally abuse me. Now this? I demand to know what is going on?" Her deep voice broke through in response to the unexpected action. Clearing her throat quickly to hide it, Honey swatted the other women away with a rough arm.
"Dear Darling, you misunderstand. We aren't trying to abuse you at all. Rather, we aren't done talking to you because there's something important left to mention." Cheryl snapped her fingers at one of their other companions—a silent request for a drink refill. One of the younger women hurried away from their circle to refill it.
"You haven't been able to come around lately, but we thought we should let you know anyway. Recently, there has been a new puppy who has found his way around here." New puppy? Honey's ears perked up at this. Sitting straight, her eyes shot around the club. Were they there right now? Surely not. She'd always notice when someone new tried to come in unnoticed.
"Easy, girl. We haven't seen them around here tonight. Otherwise, we'd have already sent you their way." Esmeralda, another black-haired beauty, let out a deep rich chuckle, amused by her friend's antiques.
"And you thought it was important only to tell me this now?" Honey's eyes narrowed, and her possessive nature displayed as she grilled the other women.
"Were you planning on waiting until you all had your fill of him before told me, hmm? Or maybe, you thought I wouldn't notice and that you could keep him to yourself?" The woman crossed her arms, leveling the other women with her gaze. Only one of the younger women averted their gaze as the others decided to play along.
"Oh, I'm so glad you realized the plan immediately. How awkward it would've been if we had to go about explaining it to ourselves. The reason we decided to tell you tonight was precisely because all of us have already had our hands on him. There isn't that much left of him, so we thought you could have the last bite." The way Honey's eyes narrowed reflected how little amusement she found in the joke despite the laughter surrounding her.
"Honesty, Hun-Hun, you need to relax. We haven't said anything yet because we didn't know if they were taken. You know the kind of people who come here aside from us. Some have already claimed the new boys before we can get new." By 'kind of people,' Honey knew precisely what Cheryl meant—the kind of people they did their best to avoid if possible – the mafiosos.
However, to Honey, even if it did turn out they owned this newcomer, it didn't mean they weren't an option. There were always ways around that kind of thing. Ways that required a little ingenuity and carefulness.
"Before you decide anything, you should sit back and relax today. It is the first full night you're back, after all." Brittany, the girl sent off to fetch the drinks recommended as she put the round down on the table. She made sure everyone had what they wanted before adjusting her black dress and retaking her sheet at the table.
"Being my first full night back is exactly why I shouldn't take it relaxing." Honey rolled her eyes again as she brushed her blonde hair aside and picked up the daiquiri.
"There's no telling when the next time I will get a chance to have fun will be. If this new pup comes in, I will rather take my chances than end the night on a boring note." Taking a long sip, her eyes scanned the bar once more. Some risks were worth taking. Pulling in fresh, young blood was one of those risks that almost always paid off. It was precisely the kind of risk that Honey needed after her week. The perfect form of stress relief that would take the edge off her pent-up frustrations.
And perhaps just for Honey, the universe chose not to disappoint that evening. It wasn't long before a young, tall, somewhat uncertain of themselves, sandy-haired stranger made their way into the bar. Honey didn't take her gaze off him as she continued to sip her drink, watching him from over the glass's rim. She didn't stop even as everyone at her table started murmuring and nudging each other to take note of him.
Honey felt her eyes darken with desire as the young man breezed past their table without so much as batting an eye or glancing in their direction. She could see why her companions hadn't approached him yet. Still, that would stop her.
Oh, this one was certainly different. One that would be worthwhile to get a hold of.
All the pots of coffee in the world couldn’t take away David’s poor mood. One weekend stuck in his office with only the endless white stacks of paper to keep him company was 48 hours too many. His fingers itched to do something more entertaining, murder white page after white page. The mafia boss took a deep drag of the cigarette in his mouth. Dark orbs glanced down at the wristwatch. They grew only darker as the clock hands reflected what he thought – the guest for that evening was already more than ten minutes late. Had they already decided that tonight would be a good night to die on without informing the mafia boss?David tapped the cigarette and watched as the quickly forming ash fell to his feet. The gray material fell to the ground without resistance as the tiny red flickers died instantly. Hmm. There was nothing satisfactory in that. The flame didn't even try to fight against what it already knew it's fate would be. “Don. I already know what you’ll say, but I think you should
Honey's fingers tapped absently on the side of the glass. Two weeks. Her gaze briefly flickered to the glass of alcohol on the table before returning to the bar. Two weeks and nothing had happened yet.The blonde tossed the remaining amber liquid back and let out a low hiss as the back of her throat burned.Honey had quickly let the bar once again become her second home. Her fascination with the potential of a new took consumed the rational side of her brain. Her friends joked about her being obsessive. 'Who knew one person who didn't give her immediate attention could cause this.' Jenny made a joke first, but everyone else quickly followed in. Honey rolled her eyes and bullied them into buying her drinks. It wasn't an obsession. She could still sleep at night, after all. Deep fascination was the better word for it. The deep ever-growing fascination for an odd little puppy. One who came almost every night to drink but hardly ever spoke or talked with anyone. "He has to be able to
Honey did precisely what she said she would. The tall blonde put on the best show in the way she only knew how. She didn't care if it was Don or anyone else who to enjoy it, her only goal was to attract the sandy-haired stranger.A man who, despite her best efforts, continued to remain untouched by Honey's charm. At least from the outside. He hardly moved from sitting facing forward at the bar, sipping on only his second gin and tonic. His gaze was hidden behind shaggy bags as his head remained slightly downward. What could be more interesting than the woman trying to catch his attention?Honey didn't lose her cool, however. If anything, the hard-to-get, indifferent behavior from the other only spurred her on to go further. Perhaps a little too far, as his companions would later inform her.The club was almost at total capacity that night, which provided an excellent audience for the tall blonde to pick from. The larger the crowd, the more money would end up in the owner's pocket by t
SinMiguel didn’t know if he had made the right or wrong choice to always keep tabs on his boss. His nervous fingers tapped a steady rhythm on the steering wheel as his eyes shifted between the warehouse to the dashboard clock.Did something happen? Not likely. It was David, after all. The devil himself wouldn’t have been able to stand much of a chance against the mafioso. Yet, Miguel didn’t feel right leaving the other on his own knowing he’d gone to go take care of business without telling anyone else.Thirty minutes feel like an eternity as minutes continue moving along in silence. The brunette adjusted the glasses on his face, a nervous habit as he strained his ears to listen through the static dark silence. The silence was supposed to be soothing. Wherever David was involved though… silence was a strong indication that death was taking place somewhere in the near vicinity. One didn’t need to spend more than two minutes around the dark mafia king to realize this. Death followed the
Miguel didn't anticipate that the mafia boss would still be hanging around when he reached the location Sinclair sent to him. He never hung around unless there was something else going on... Miguel felt his hands involuntarily tighten around the steering wheel as David turned to face him. His amber eyes reflected a hard-to-read emotion as the car's headlights reflected off them. Did someone tell him to expect his right-hand man to be coming? Sinclair surely wouldn't be that stupid. The right-hand man was quick to shut off the car to avoid blinding the other. It didn't however before he noticed the blood covering the other's clothes. Shit... How bad had it been this time? "You know, if I didn't know any better, I would think you were keeping tabs on me." Miguel hardly had a chance to step out of the car before the mafia boss tossed something at him. It was hard to see it in the dark but the right-hand man caught it without fail. The weight of it told him that his boss had already c
A kiss. One of the sweetest treasures in the world. Especially when both parties were into it.Something so simple and delicate could transport someone to a magical land. Whether it was electric sparks and wildfires or cotton candy and unicorns, it was always addictive and intoxicating. It doesn't have to be anyone special, just as long as they are into it and know how to use their lips. At least for Honey, that always was the case. Until a sandy-haired puppy came along. Long lashes fluttered open as amber orbs glanced up through hooded eyes. He was into it, wasn't he? The look of pure bliss and the scent of lust confirmed as much for her. As did the way Don devoured her mouth with his tongue. She could hardly breathe when she released her dark red abused lips, yet her mind was miles away even as he caught her gaze.So why wasn't it there? That pleasurable spark sent tingles down to the heels of her shoes. "What are you thinking so hard about right now?" The words spoken in an allu
Honey found herself taking steps two at the time as she made her way up the staircase that lead to the elegant penthouse that she called home. The late hour and darkness that made it hard to see beyond her nose didn't lessen the spring in her step. The spring had less to do with spending the last three hours with Don (not that the man wasn't a good time) but more to do with the sandy-haired stranger. The boy came back. Precisely as she had expected he would. One kiss was all it took, and she had already started to draw him in. Honey tossed her keys into the bowl by the door and kicked her shoes off inside the front door. She barely remembered to latch the deadbolt as she went to the kitchen. Her mind was too full of cotton candy kisses and soft green eyes to focus on much else. It had only been one short kiss, but she hadn't been able to get the taste out of her mouth. She pulled a shot glass from one of the cupboards and grabbed the bourbon from the liquor cabinet. 3 a.m. wasn't th
The afternoon sky spoke of a beautiful remainder of the day. The sun had finally pushed away the clouds in the last few hours before nightfall. The gentle breeze gliding through the trees whispered that spring would soon come. What a lovely day it had turned into for everyone except for a particular mafia boss. The mafia boss let out a muted noise of discontentment. Didn't they have anything interesting to report? Traitors to be made examples of? No people playing in territory that didn't belong to them? Anything would've been better than the financial report his right-hand man continued to drone on about. David's head remained supported by a hand under his chin as he forced himself to continue listening. Emotionless eyes trailed after a swallowtail butterfly as it fluttered past the top-floor office window behind his subordinate's head. Butterflies had life so easy, didn't they? A pair of wings to take them wherever they wanted without a care in the world. They surely never had to l
