I looked around myself.

The house that we had been brought to had once been a charming inn, perhaps. It had been done up and restored by professionals who had managed to retain the cosiness of the original building. It had probably been meant to be a country getaway for a wealthy magnate. A huge garden with a variety of colourful flowers caught the early morning rays of the sun.

Schwartz said something about a carriage house and the place being on a hundred acres of land. But I was barely listening.

A fireplace in the large living room caught my attention-“

I shall need to see it cannot be opened by the children,’ I thought distractedly as I gazed around me. Claude was clinging to my arms, refusing to get down onto the floor. He was in one of his black moods. The twins had slept through the journey and were now rearing to go. I sighed. I wanted Lucien so badly, I wanted him to hold me in his muscular arms, wanted to lay my head on his chest.
