Things had been quiet for a few weeks.

Almost too quiet until another attack came for Tiffany. And this time, they went after her brother, Lucas.

Tiffany was sitting on the porch with Riley, enjoying some snacks and chatting, when Riley’s driver, Evan, came and gave them the news.

Riley stood up abruptly, her expression turning serious. “What do you mean he wasn’t there?” Riley asked, her voice sharp as she turned to their driver, Evan.

Tiffany felt a cold sense of dread wash over her. She had come to visit her father’s house, missing the family since she had moved in with Jacob. Lucas had been at school, so it had been just the two of them when Evan had left to pick him up. But now, Tiffany’s heart dropped as Evan returned, walking toward them alone.

Tiffany’s mind raced, dread settling deeper as she waited for the explanation she feared but didn’t want to hear.

“His teacher said he was gone by the time I got there,” Evan said, his tone calm, though Tiffany could detect a flicker of

Tiffany’s heart pounded as the voice on the other end of the phone spoke. Redemption… so this was about revenge. She steadied her breath, trying to keep her voice calm. “So you want revenge for someone? On me?”“Not necessarily on you,” the voice replied.Tiffany frowned, her grip tightening on the phone. “On my father, then?”“Let’s say on your entire bloody family. Why should you get to be a big happy family while mine suffers?” The voice hissed, venom dripping from each word. Her pulse quickened. The weight of those words sank in. Someone was coming after her family—someone driven by pure vengeance.“What did we do to your family?” Tiffany asked, her voice steady but her mind racing.A bitter laugh crackled through the phone. “You really have no idea, do you? Living in your perfect little world, blind to the suffering your family has caused.”Tiffany’s throat tightened, but she swallowed hard, not letting the tension show. “I’m not living in some perfect world. We have the same mother but different fathers. And this is something I’d rather discuss at home, not here at Lucas’s school,” he said, motioning for them to follow him down the hallway.“Um… Mr. Foster, should I call the police?” Ms. Monroe asked hesitantly, her voice trembling slightly.River’s head snapped sharply toward her, his expression hard. “No! I’ll take care of this on my own,” he said, his voice firm and unyielding.“But shouldn’t we—”“Not another word, Ms. Monroe. It’s in your best interest to stay out of this family affair. Do we have a clear understanding?” he snarled, his commanding tone brooking no argum

She wasn’t about to walk into this completely defenseless. As she headed for the door, Riley stepped in front of her, eyes filled with concern. “Tiffany, please be careful. I know you’re tough, but this Henri sounds unhinged. Don’t take any unnecessary risks.”Tiffany offered her what she hoped was a reassuring smile. “I’ll be fine, Riley.”Riley nodded tightly, pulling her into a quick hug. “Come back safe, you hear me?”“I will,” Tiffany promised, returning the hug briefly before stepping away.River was waiting by the door, his face tense but controlled. “Remember, we’ll be right behind you the whole time. At the first sign of trouble, give the signal, and we’ll be there.”“Got it,” Tiffany replied with a sharp nod. They had gone over the plan a dozen times. She wo

Run? No.Tiffany hadn’t followed in her father’s footsteps just to run away from situations like this.Taking advantage of the chaos, she broke free from Henri’s grasp. In one swift motion, she retrieved the knife hidden in her boot and pressed it against his throat. Henri’s men immediately raised their weapons, but their hesitation was clear—they didn’t want to risk harming their boss.“Tell your men to stand down,” she hissed in Henri’s ear, her voice sharp and unwavering. “Or I’ll paint this floor with your blood, uncle dearest.”Henri chuckled darkly, seemingly unfazed by the blade digging into his skin. “You wouldn’t dare,” he sneered. “You don’t have the stomach for it, girl.”Tiffany pressed the knife harder, drawing a thin line of blood. “This is what I was trained to do,” she growled. “So try me. After everything you’ve put my family through, I won’t lose a wink of sleep over slitting your throat.”Something in her tone, or perhaps the fire in her eyes, must have convinced hi

Tears blurred her vision, grief and rage threatening to consume her.Her father lay motionless at her feet, blood pooling around him. She could see the faint rise and fall of his chest, a fragile reassurance that he wasn’t gone yet. But time was slipping away, and she had to act fast before she lost him too.“Don’t do this, Henri,” she pleaded, her voice trembling. “Enough people have died already. This won’t change what happened to you.”Henri’s finger tightened on the trigger. His cold gaze didn’t waver. “You’re right, it won’t change the past. But it will give me the satisfaction of wiping out the rest of this wretched family.”Her voice cracked as she asked, “Did you kill John too?”Henri’s brow furrowed slightly. “Your father’s driver? He got in the way. I was expecting to find your father at the pool house through a source, but he was there instead.”Tears streamed down Tiffany’s face. John hadn’t

The kitchen could use an upgrade too—new appliances, a more efficient layout. And we could create a private dining room for special events.”Tiffany felt a smile tug at her lips as she listened to him. His enthusiasm was infectious. “That sounds amazing, Jacob,” she said,

He wasn’t in a hurry, wasn’t rushing to take more. He was simply enjoying this, enjoying her.It wasn’t fair.Because the way he kissed her made her believe that she could have him all to herself.Amy knew better. She really did!Lucas wasn’t hers. Just him and his Harpy. He turned his head slightly, glancing at her. She looked mesmerized by the stars, her eyes reflecting the soft light of the projection. Her lips were slightly parted as if she were drinking at the moment, and Lucas felt something tighten in his chest.“I think this is the calmest I’ve ever seen you,” he murmured, a small smile tugging at his lips.Amy turned her head to look at him, an amused glint in her eyes. “Are you trying to tell me again I talk too much?”Lucas chuckled. “Oh, absolutely.”Amy laughed softly, shaking her head. “I guess I do talk too much. She was hoping today was a slow day, and she could go home early, but it didn’t seem like it was happening.“Look who decided to grace us with his presence,” Joanne murmured nearby, her voice low and teasing.Amy followed Joanne’s nod toward the entrance, where Lucas stood.Amy froze.“You go, Amy.
