Chapter 5 (Part 2)

“You were close to killing him, boss.” Komento ni Leon nang makalayo-layo na silang dalawa ni Hunter mula kay Jaguar at sa mga tao nila. Hunter was walking straight ahead towards the car while Leon was just behind him. “You shouldn’t have come. Hinayaan mo nalang sana si Jaguar na gawin ang trabaho niya. There wasn’t even a need for you to come in the first place. I could even have supervise them if you don’t trust Jaguar—”

“I trust Jaguar, Leon.” Putol ni Hunter sa sinasabi ni Leon. “I just wanted someone, something to release my pent-up anger, and that fucking traitor is the best one we have.”

“Still, you should have held back.”

“I was. If I weren’t, I would have already broken that traitor’s skull in just four punches.”

Napailing na lamang si Leon. To people who might hear Hunter, they might say that he was being arrogant and overconfident, but what Hunter said was true.

Hunter has been training his boxing skills since he was a kid, and everyone who knew Hunter Ramirez, the boss, knows how beastly he is at using fists. Even their enemies and the other organizations can attest to how good Hunter is when giving punches. 

“What are you doing here anyway? You should be tracking and guiding our shipment.” Tanong ni Hunter without even looking at Leon.

“The shipment arrived thirty minutes ago, and everything is good. It will be delivered this evening as we just scheduled. As for the reason why I’m here, it’s because I was worried you would do something irrational again, and you did. Thankfully this time, no one died, so we could still gather pieces of information about the Delgados.”

“Leon, first of all, you are not my babysitter but my consigliere.”

“I already did my job as your consigliere. I advised you to keep calm and hold out just until we gather enough information, but you did not, so I had no choice but to act as your babysitter and keep an eye on you.”

“Second, I did not kill that bastard Romeo. He committed suicide.”

“That’s because you provoked and urged him, knowing that he’s already got suicidal problems.”

“Well, that motherfucker deserves to die. After sexually harassing and sexually abusing many people, telling him to commit suicide isn’t enough as atonement for his sins.” 

Napailing na lamang si Leon. Kahit anong sabihin niya ay may mai-rarason talaga si Hunter.

“Any news about the Delgados?” Hunter asked.

“They’ve partnered with the Director Evangelista of  Fast Freight. They seem to be widening their business reach, as we’ve heard. It also seems they are still gathering some intel about our group and us and telling everyone they will dethrone us in the mafia world.”

“I originally won’t give a shit about how they want to run their businesses and their group as long as they won’t interfere with ours. But that’s not what they are doing. And these past few months, those brainless assholes are becoming a real pain in the ass.”

Nang makalapit na sa sasakyan ay doon na nagsimulang bumilis ang lakad ni Leon hanggang sa maunahan na niya si Hunter. Leon then opened the car door for the backseat Hunter, at nang makapasok na si Hunter ay saka naman mabilis na pumasok si Leon sa driver’s seat. Hunter spoke again, “Did you already found who the boss of the Delgado group is?”

Leon turned on the car engine and started driving while answering Hunter’s questions. “I still haven’t. Everyone in their groups seems to be keeping their mouth tight shut since nobody in the underground world knows who is the head of the Delgados. But I won’t stop. I will keep looking for more information about their group and leaders, especially their boss.”

“Good,” Hunter replied as he gazed at the car window.

Silence enveloped the two men when Leon asked, “Is this really okay?”

“What?” Tanong naman pabalik ni Hunter habang nasa bintana pa rin ng kotse ang atensyon. 

“What you are doing, this thing with Liza Enriquez? Is this okay?”

“What do you mean?”

“She could get tangled up in our world, boss.”

“She won’t be. She would be just a casual fuck buddy, someone I could release my pent-up desires to.”

“But what if they start targeting her?”

“They won’t, as long as you and our men would keep your mouths closed, and as long as she remains a fuck buddy to me, then there won’t be any problem. They wouldn’t waste their time on someone that doesn’t matter to me.”

“But would she remain as just a fuck buddy?” 

“She will.” Mariin na ang boses na sagot ni Hunter, indikasyon na ayaw na niyang pahabain pa ang usapan patungkol kay Liza.

Naintindihan naman iyon ni Leon kung kaya’t itinikom na niya ang kanyang bibig kahit pa ang totoo ay marami pa siyang gustong sabihin at itanong. 

Because Hunter may not have realized it yet, but Leon already did. Hunter is attracted to Liza; he is fixated on her, which has never happened before. Hunter has never been this attracted to a woman to the point where he would ask her to be his fuck buddy and make a contract that states that they will be exclusive, as if he is already taking her as his possession. 

Leon wanted to advise and warn Hunter, but he knew he still wouldn’t listen to him. Because once Hunter wants something or someone, he will do everything in his power to get a hold of that, no matter what method it is. 

Kaya naman tahimik na lamang na umaasa si Leon na sana ay hindi magkatotoo ang kutob niya. Sana nga ay hindi magdala o maging sanhi ng problema at panganib ang pakikipag-ugnayan ni Hunter kay Liza.
