A year after Terrence learned about his father's terminal illness, his father requested for his presence in his room. It looked more like a hospital room now because of medical equipment and supplies and a personal nurse inside. Terrence asked the nurse to leave them for a while so they could talk.
Terrence pulled a chair and sat beside his father's bed.
"Why did you call me, dad?" Terrence asked while glancing at his father's tired face.
"Son, I-I may have nothing left to teach you. You're Uncle Andrew didn't fail me. Now I can die peacefully because I know you'll be able to protect our legacy." As he said these words, he sounded almost like he was whispering. With each passing day, he grew weaker and weaker. Today, he is barely able to move and spends the majority of his time lying in bed or in a wheelchair.
When Terrence heard his father say that, his eyes started to well up with tears. It dawned on him how weak and frail he had become. He's lost a lot of weight. He's so unfamiliar to him. He certainly didn't look like the man he used to be. A heart monitor and multiple IV tubes are now attached to his father. His nostrils are also equipped with an oxygen supply.
His father gave it his all to get up. "T-Terrence, could you please get the box from the t-that drawer?" He said while he was gasping for air. Because his oxygen levels are depleted, he's been forced to breathe with the assistance of an oxygen tube.
Terrence took a wooden box out of his father’s bedside drawer and placed it near him. His father gathered all his strength to open the wooden box with his son’s assistance and took out a peculiar-looking mask. It is made of silver and gold.
"T-this is the Black Scorpion mask. Anyone who bears this mask bears the entire organization. It's yours now." Travis said while barely holding the mask with his pale hands. He extended his hand to give it to Terrence.
Terrence took the mask from his father and examined it. He realized it has a resemblance to a scorpion’s face. "Dad", was all he could say. He just hugged him tightly. He felt like he'd be gone anytime soon.
True enough, after a week, Travis Harriett Evans, the head of the First Family died.
During the final night of his father's wake, everyone gathered. The entire Evans mansion was full of well-known people. There were politicians, artists, businessmen, and an army of guards to protect all the guests. There are white lilies and daisies in the middle of the hall where Terrence's father's coffin was laid out. A large picture frame containing his image was also on display at the side of the coffin. Also on display was the Black Scorpion banner. The symbol was painted in gold ink on a violet banner.
Each member of the Five Family wore a black suit or dress with a golden pin depicting the Black Scorpion. The family's head wore a unique piece of clothing. A purple sash with a gold Black Scorpion symbol embellished with diamonds was worn over a black suit.
Everyone in the viewing area gasped when Terrence descended the winding stairs dressed exactly like the family's head together with his brother Troy and their little sister Tabitha. Everyone stared at them, especially at Terrence as he approached the podium while his siblings sat in front. He knew this would not end up well, but he had to secure their household as the eldest son.
Terrence took a deep breath and composed himself before making his important announcement. "Dear family, friends, Evans' loyal constituents, and subjects, I, Terrence Vaughn Evans, on behalf of the First Family–” He paused to scan his surroundings. He commanded the mansion guards in advance to secure the area in case something would happen after his announcement. He was wearing an earpiece that allows him to communicate with them. A voice from the other line said, “We're ready boss.” so he continued talking. “I will take over Travis Harriett Evans' place as the First Family head.”
The entire audience broke out in different kinds of whispers and reactions. He was already expecting this kind of reaction from the crowd so they just gave him a blank stare.
"Why you?! You're too young and inexperienced!! We will not entrust the future of this organization, Anderson Evans, the patriarch of the Third Family, shouted standing from his seat.
“Andrew, what’s the meaning of this?! The head of the second family, Percy Evans also joined Percy.
His Uncle Andrew, who was sitting beside Troy stood up, “ Everyone, you heard it right. My nephew, Terrence Vaughn Evans will now be the head of the First Family from now on. Anyone who will disagree with this decision will never leave this mansion alive tonight.”
The guests and the members of the five families got tense. They started whispering to each other again while others alerted their own bodyguards.
The rest of the five families know how powerful the First Family is. They are the first family formed in 1965 which inherited more money from Jacob, the founding father, so Percy and Anderson Evans both took their seats and kept their mouths shut for the entire night.
The night was full of tension, but luckily no bloodbath happened.
During the traditional British funeral repast, attended by friends and family of the deceased, the five remaining families gathered in a conference room inside the mansion.
When his father was still alive, this is where he held meetings and assemblies. Books and maps fill the room, making it look like an actual library. In the center of the pentagon-shaped table, there were five seats that resembled the King's chair. The Black Scorpion banner is also displayed in the center of the room. There were also portraits of the former heads, the founder Jacob Evans and their great-great-grandfather Robert Evans.
Terrence sat in the middle where his father was sitting before. Andrew asked him to take that seat.
"Gentlemen, I appreciate your presence. As you may have heard, Terrence will now be taking over my brother's position in the organization. We still need to follow tradition, so we gathered you here," Andrew said as he stood next to Terrence. He was holding an old book that had been passed down through generations. Travis and the other heads are Evans' third generation of families. Andrew opened the dusty and worn-out book that contained the Evans family's history, the Black Organization's history, and the signatures of the former heads written in their blood.
He turned it into a blank page and started writing the names of the current heads and Terrence’s name using a fountain pen. On the table also is a golden dagger, a quill, and the stamp of the Evans family. After Andrew finished writing all the names, he passed the book to the head of the Second Family, Anderson Evans. He slashed his arms with the dagger he had just picked up. The wound was dripping with crimson red blood. He then dipped the tip of the quill into the wound and signed his name on top of it. Andrew held the book with both hands and passed it to the head of the Third Family, Percy Evans. He reluctantly signed it and handed it to the next head, Bailey Evans. Andrew proceeded to hand it to the Fifth Family head, Ernest Evans, and finally to Terrence.
After the blood compact, Andrew took the seal of the Evans family and stamped the page where they signed.
Andrew, as the presider of the meeting, turned the book to the page where the oath of acceptance was written. He asked all of them to stand up before Terrence read it.
With conviction and confidence, Terrence placed his left hand on his chest and his other hand doing the secret hand sign of the organization, and began reading it.
“It is my pledge that I, Terrence Vaughn Evans, will support and defend the Black Scorpion Organization against all enemies, both foreign and domestic; that I will pledge my true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of our forefather, and fulfill my duties and responsibilities as the head of the First Family.”
Everyone in the room acknowledged the oath by shaking Terrence's hand, but you can see the displeasure on their faces as they did so. On the other hand, Terrence made every effort to maintain his composure in the situation.
Terrence went back to the cemetery where his father was buried after the meeting. He stood before his grave now holding a piece of white daisies. Terrence reminisced about the past while staring at the marble tombstone engraved with his father’s name and the year he was born and died, June 1976- November 2020. He was never his father’s favorite son, it was Troy. Troy was more inclined toward their business than he. Once he caught Troy playing with their father’s gun. He also likes to play mafia boss during their playtime, and I as police. Their father adored Troy more than him. He gently placed the flower beside his father’s tombstone.
"Dad, I promise to continue our family's legacy from now on." With that promise, Terrence started accepting his fate of living in the dark from this day forward.
The Black Scorpion Organization operation is now under new management. With his brilliance, his Uncle Andrew’s supervision, and their armies, the First Family continued to be the most notorious group in the entire UK and among the five families.
It has been fifteen years since the death of Bridgette’s best friend, Trina. The cold breeze of the wind, a beautiful canvas of sky blues and milky whites graces the midday sky. The blue of the depths and the smooth, rounded, sugary sweet clouds in the foreground are a beautiful contrast. Bridgette’s wavy auburn hair swayed with the wind. She’s standing in front of her grave now with a bouquet of fresh pink carnations, her favorite flower. The time on her wrist watch says two in the afternoon. She blocked all her schedules today so she could visit her friend. After seeing those memorabilias inside the box, she finally took the courage to go to her grave. She knew where it was because fifteen years ago she stood up from afar during her funeral. “Hi Trina. How are you?” Bridgette said while smiling and placing the flowers beside the black marble tombstone. Bridgette knew her family had already gone there as well when she noticed three other bouquets of fresh flowers. She’s feeling anx
“Waiter, the usual,” Terrence informed the bartender. He was hoping to meet a woman at his bar today by having a few drinks. Terrence owned the most expensive bar and restaurant in the city which is The Red Town. He owned other pubs but this one is his favorite hangout place when he’s stressed out because this is where he can use his “red envelope.”This bar and restaurant is the one and only exclusive restaurant in Westminster. There’s a screening during the reservation and before the guest enters the facility. He does this to avoid assassins and other hired people to harm him.The bar counter is illuminated with red LED lights for an eye-catching modern look. Both the VIP and general public areas are available. The bar's "hell" ambiance was further enhanced by moving flame projections on the walls and ceiling. There’s a dance floor in the middle with a dancing pole and strobe lights. The red envelope contained a short contract. It is an agreement between him and the woman that after
A small remote on the coffee table in front of the sofa suddenly caught Terrence's eye.He pondered the idea of playing sultry music to complement the woman who was lying lewdly beneath him. A few clicks and the entire penthouse was filled with the soothing sounds of jazz. The woman was beaming from ear to ear as she rose to devise a plan to provide entertainment for Terrence.Terrence was taken aback and simply followed her gaze as she walked coquettishly towards the metal pole in the middle of the room.In time with the jazz music, she began swaying her hips as she clung to the metal pole. Her eyes were filled with lust and sexiness as she rubbed her breasts against the pole in a back-and-forth motion. After this, Terrence thought of installing a dancing pole in his room in the mansion. It’s a nice addition to his ‘session room’.She gradually unzipped her halter top dress, revealing her enviable figure. While swaying her hips, she fumbled her perfectly rounded breasts. His pupils di
As soon as Bridgette awoke, she slowly opened her eyes. She tried to get to her feet, but her head felt like it was about to explode. She took a look around and noticed she was in an old-fashioned bedroom with maroon-colored walls, furniture, and decor. Everything, including her comforter and the bed on which she is currently resting, is a maroon hue. There are also old paintings from the Renaissance period and a bookshelf brimming with maroon-colored books. 'Where am I?" Bridgette said this while clutching her head. She looked around, but there was no one in the room except for a tray of water, medicine, a piece of toast, and a small note. Her body trembled as she felt the chill of an air conditioner's cold air. Only then did she realize that she was completely naked beneath the thick comforter that was wrapped around her. Suddenly, Bridgette was afraid and tried to recall the events of the night before she ended up in bed. She was on the verge of yelling when she decided not to d
Terrence woke up with a throbbing headache. It's almost like his skull is getting split in half. He tried to move his hand so he could hold the back of my head, but he felt some resistance. He slowly opened his eyes and was greeted with a pitch-black environment. He tried moving my arms and legs again. He’s definitely tied up. He could hear the sound of chains and feel the cold metal against his wrists and ankles. He also noticed that he was naked. The cold wind blowing out somewhere is seeping through his bare skin. It's as if he’s inside a gigantic freezer. He tried to recall the things that happened before he lost consciousness. The party,The penthouse,The pole,The wine,The woman. His eyes widened when he remembered everything. He became too lax about the situation. He hopes that his team will be able to track his location on time using the chip he had installed inside his body. A doctor told him that you could actually install a chip safely inside a human body for tracking and
From the moment she fled her debut party, Bridgette has avoided being among the wealthy. She was fed up with her father setting her up on blind dates. Rich folks were all the same to her. They're solely interested in money, fame, and power. They have little regard for the feelings of others. But now, she's inside a four-hundred-thousand-pound car, sitting beside a filthy rich guy who she doesn’t even know. They were both silent throughout the ten-minute drive, but every now and then, Bridgette stole a glance from him."Why do you keep on stealing glances, lady?" he asked without looking at her. She felt embarrassed and looked away."I wasn’t. I just want to look on the other side of the road. " Bridgette nervously uttered, making him chuckle."Look at you blushing." He suddenly maneuvered the car towards the side of the road and hit the brake. He quickly released his seatbelt so he could turn his body sideways towards her. "Do you find me attractive?" His face is now inches away from
After that incident with Savannah, Terrence decided to lay low on picking up girls at parties. He became too careless so he ended up being a hostage. Savannah was the name of the woman who led the kidnapping incident. It tainted his reputation as the members of the Five Families spread rumors about it. They said he’s getting weak and putting the future of the organization in danger. He couldn’t care less of how they think of him at the moment. He just wanted to punish everyone who orchestrated that plan, especially that woman who dared lay her filthy hands on him. Women are nothing but playthings. They are incapable of doing anything rather than displaying their huge tits and pretty face. Terrence is preparing for the interrogation. He put on the scorpion mask and took his gun out of the drawer. He was about to go out when his in-ear monitor beeped. “Boss, everything is set. Where are you?” Cody asked. “Be there at five. Make sure everything’s ready,” he replied. Conrad, the head
Enemies infiltrated the mansion last week. It's a good thing Terrence and the rest of his crew were able to defeat them, but they lost a lot of their men. With what happened to Samantha, he’s pretty sure that this is a work of Sinisteros. He just couldn’t figure out how they were able to enter the mansion that easily. He also sent Tabitha first to the secret villa so she would be protected. She’s with Katarina and Sparrow there. Cody was left to recalibrate the mansion’s security features. He was having sleepless nights lately, and his crew were now overworked. He decided to relax a bit. It’s almost six-thirty in the evening. The short afternoon flew by, and then came sundown, gray dusk, and the stars glistening in the sky. He’s on his way to a party hosted by one of their family’s business partners. It’s a masquerade party, so he had to put on a nice tuxedo and a silver half-faced mask. The color of his white Audi convertible matches the color of his mask. It screams elegance and sop
Troy hired someone to clean Bridgette’s house today. It was such a mess when Bridgette left for the convention in Japan because she had no time to tidy up. He woke up early today as well to prepare everything at the shop for his fiance's return. Bridgette texted him an hour ago about being disqualified from the selection so he wanted to lighten her mood today by making sure that everything is in place for her arrival. He turned on the television and switched it to an international news channel and made it play in the background. He rolled his sleeves and began mopping the floor while the old lady cleaned the kitchen. He caught her looking at him. In a friendly tone, he asked her. “Why are you staring at me like that madam?” She was caught off-guard and almost hit the glassware behind her when she panicked and jolted. “N-Nothing sire. I just admire you for taking care of your lady. She’s so lucky to have you,” she said. Her eyes were twinkling with so much admiration for Troy. Tro
There was a minute of awkward silence followed by a loud shriek coming from Bridgette which startled the stewardess and the pilot. Bridgette’s face was buried in her hands as the stewardess approached them. She looked confused and worried. She glanced at Terrence first where she found it odd to see that his face was as red as a tomato while staring at the screaming lady in front of her. “Ma’am. Are you okay? What happened? Mr. Evans, what happened here? Are both of you okay?” Terrence cleared his throat first. “I’ll just go to the loo,” he said and quickly rushed into the restroom. When Bridgette felt that Terrence was not in the cabin anymore, she put her hands down and faced the stewardess. “Hi. I’m okay. I’m so sorry for that. I just saw a snake,” Bridgette tried to formulate a lie but the image of Terrence’s bulge appeared in her head again calling it a snake. “Snake??” The stewardess appeared more confused than ever. Bridgette glanced at the stewardess nameplate and decided t
Following that announcement, Bridgette’s phone began to ring non-stop. Various companies, even famous ones, began calling her asking for her to collaborate with them.“Miss Melinda! They began calling us too!” One of her staff told her while waiting for their scheduled flight back to London in the boarding area.“Miss Melinda, what’s happening? Are we really gonna’ work with all of them?” Another staff member asked. They were all overwhelmed with what Terrence did and those unending calls from strangers.“Turn off all your phones. We will not work with any of them,” Bridgette firmly advised.‘That condescending man! I will never forgive what he did! He humiliated me and my company on national television! He’s a disgusting rich folk! I hope he loses all his money and begs on the streets!’ Bridgette had been cursing Terrence in her mind over and over. In the middle of her internal battle, an intercom announcement blared all over the airport.“Announcement. This passenger of Flight 214
‘It was him, again!’ Bridgette tried so hard to avoid his gaze and hide her fear at the moment. She gathered all her courage and stood up for herself. He may look intimidating, but she won’t let him affect her goals and sole reason for being at that convention. She turned her head sideways quickly and drew a deep breath. "Good morning, sir. Thank you for the offer, but I wanted to win fair and square." She faked a smile. "Let’s just wait until all our respectable judges here cast their votes and ratings for our collection. "Thank you." She politely bowed in front of him afterward. The judges were too stunned to speak. Terrence secretly gave one of them a glare. He instantly knew what Terrence meant."Oh, uh. Ms.Sui, I think we're done rating your collection." He nervously flipped through the clipboard. Other judges panicked and joined him but was interrupted when Bridgette screamed. After Hinari interpreted what he said, Bridgette reacted."Stop! Why are you intimidated by this person
Time stopped. Everything stood still. Terrence couldn’t believe that the woman standing in front of him was the woman he had been looking for for so long. He doesn’t want to blink for she might disappear from his sight again. He suddenly grabbed her hands and pulled her closer to him and wrapped her in his arms.“It’s you! It’s really you! I’m not dreaming!” Terrence could only hear his own voice and heartbeat at the moment. The only thing he sees right now is her.“Where have you been?! Why did you have to leave?!” He was fighting back the tears trying to escape from his eyes. He cupped her face with his hands so he could see her face up-close.‘It’s her! It’s really her! This isn’t a dream anymore!’ Terrence tried to convince himself.“Let go of me! Lunatic!” She tried to release herself from his tight hug but he’s too strong so she just screamed so loud that almost everyone in the convention panicked and ran towards their location.Terrence felt a strong tug behind him. It was some
“Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Welcome to Japan! Nihon e youkoso! We will be landing in five minutes. Please stay in your seats. Thank you.”Bridgette removed her purple sleep mask after hearing the announcement. Half of the almost twelve-hour flight she was asleep. She wasn’t able to get a lot of sleep the past few days because she needed to prepare for the convention. On top of that, they were also busy with their wedding preparations that’s about to happen three months from now.Her attention was drawn to the brilliant oval-cut sapphire ring on her finger, which resembled Kate Middleton's engagement ring. She immediately blushed and smiled as she recalled Troy’s simple wedding proposal to her.Troy invited him to go to the beach one fine day. He told him he wanted to unwind because they’ve always been busy managing their business together. Since they opened Sweet Memoire, Bridgette spent her entire week in the shop.Bridgette thought it was just an ordinary v
It’s eight in the evening. Stars adorned the velvet black sky draped over the entire city. The light breeze of the night played with Terrence’s hair. Terrence leaned against the trunk of his car. The chirping of cicadas served as the background music for his broken soul. With a bottle of cold beer in his hand, he drank a swig of it. The beer's velvety texture slid down his throat. His palette was overpowered by its harsh and highly carbonated flavor.Suddenly, he remembered the task he assigned to Cody a few days ago. They became so busy planning for the Second and Third Family’s downfall that he forgot to ask him about the development of their investigation regarding the strange woman’s disappearance. He took his phone out of his coat and pressed speed dial five. A few rings and Cody picked up the phone.“Cody the cool IT speaking. Zupp Boss T?” he responded, sounding like an L.A. boy.‘This guy had been watching too many American movies again picking up these slang words.’ Terrence
Somewhere in London…A man said “It’s not yet time for me to intervene. Shut it! None of this would happen if your troops aren’t stupid dipsticks!” He dropped the call and massaged his temples.‘Things are getting out of hand. I have to think of a plan.’ This thought ran through his head as he drew a deep breath out of frustration. It was a very ordinary Saturday morning in Hounslow. Bridgette was busy with house chores while singing and dancing. Earphones plugged in, and at full volume, she listened to music on her phone. She’s only in her pink oversized T-shirt and skimpy shorts. To save time, she opted to wear her hair in an unkempt bun. Late last night, she stayed up late, and thus she got up late as well.“I’m a simple girl, in my own little world, and I love my life, lo and behold! He came and said hello and my whole world changed”. She was swaying her hips and using the handle of the mop as her microphone. She was so engrossed with what she was doing that she didn’t notice Tro
Upon reaching the mansion of the Second Family in Kensington, west of London, Terrence called his cousin Brandon Evans before doing the attack. He may be angry with his uncle and his wife but he never wanted his innocent cousins to be implicated in his plan.“Hi, Brad. Who is inside the Second Family mansion now?”Brandon responded. Terrence could hear the sound of ocean waves in the background. “Oh, hi couz! Hadley is out and I’m in Hawaii. I think it's just mum and dad and the rest of the household. Why?”Terrence smirked. “Brilliant! Nothing. Enjoy the booze. Bye.”As he dropped the phone, he gave a hand signal to his team. As he raised his hand, some of his team infiltrated the mansion to kill the family’s guards discreetly. He hid his gun with a silencer on his jacket and wore his aviator glasses. He entered the mansion casually. The guards let him in because he’s a known relative of the Second Family.“Where’s uncle?” he asked.“Upstairs Sir Terrence,” one of the servants answer
