His eyes were still cold with no trace of pity.
"Don't you know you deserve more than this?" He bellowed as he stood upright since he had been crouching all this time.
I heard his question, but it was faint in my ears as I began to lose consciousness from loss of blood. The agony blasting through me on seeing my father attack me with a knife was the most horrific sight, and now even as I bled profusely, there was no care. He really wants me dead.
Everything was vanishing from my eyes; every sound was faint.
"Where is my bracelet? You won't still talk or should I stab your heart?" He threatened with his teeth gnashing while I stared without saying a word. My lips pressed together in a line with hot tears pouring down my eyes.
The cut from the blade was stinging and blazing like fire. so painful to bear that my heart clenched tightly.
My eyes were shutting as more blood spilled around me. How can he still ask for his bracelet?
Is this a monster or a demon? He can't be a werewolf like me. He can't be my father!
"Where is my...." His yell was cut short as the door was kicked opened so hard with someone running in.
"Alpha, I found the bracelet in your room, under your bed. It must have fallen off and slipped beneath yesterday night." A different voice said those word, shooting a sharp pang in my heart.
I was wounded by my father for nothing. Now he found out I took nothing. He found out Aurora was lying.
Tears stung my eyes and streamed down as the excruciating pain around my arm spread through my body, seizing my breath.
"Take her away and stop the bleeding." My father ordered, and I could sense no sentiment or pity from his voice.
I pray I die someday and never wake up to see the light again. Maybe that would make the sadist I had as a father feel satisfied.
Alpha Sean's POV
"Where did you find it?" I asked with a snort as I spun and took the bracelet from the pack warriors' leader, Stan.
His face was drawn and he seemed to be forcing down some sort of emotion as Ava was taken away, her blood created a red streak along.
"Like I had mentioned, Alpha, I found it beneath your bed." He responded under his breath, fixing his gaze on me while I checked the bracelet thoroughly to be sure it was really the one I was looking for.
For sure, it was it, and I couldn't help feeling my cheeks flush a bit as his eyes rested on me.
"Ava didn't steal it then. She wasn't lying." He shrugged, and then bowed before leaving. His tone and expression showed how angry and pained he felt. I was really embarrassed at how far I went without searching for it well. It was clear my hatred for Ava was beyond understanding. Why won't I hate her?
My greatest regret is being her father. Seeing her alone makes me wish she had no royal blood, so I could slit her throat. I badly want her dead because she deserves to die! There was absolutely no meaning to her being alive. She is useless.
My Luna and son are gone forever just because of her. Why would she be the one to come out alive, and those sapphire blue eyes aren't normal? There are many reasons to term her a curse. I won't stop inflicting pain on her till she takes her life.
With a deep grunt, I stamped back to my room, my head banging as the memories of the past came rushing in. Those moments when Selene was beside me as my Luna. There was no woman that could beat her in a beauty pageant with her perfect figure. Those blue eyes and oval face with heart shaped lips that were always glossed. Her blonde hair, which cascaded down to her back, and her graceful steps while walking with her golden robe.
She appeared so angelic and was the peace every man wanted. I took care of her personally all through the months she was pregnant. Every night, I massage her feet, I bathe her, and I satisfy all her cravings. Every single thing she needed was delivered to her instantly.
Words can't explain how I waited patiently for her to be put to bed and be released from the stress of pregnancy while delivering an heir to my throne. I made certain that the best doctors and nurses were present to care for her during labor, only for tragedy to strike.
That night was horrifying as her screams of pain echoed through walls and pillars. She was crying in intense pain that I couldn't bear waiting outside. I barged in to check on her myself, and that was the most terrifying scene I had ever seen.
The scene would keep flashing back every time I set my eyes on Ava, and that is why I deeply hate her from the core.
My wife was in the pool of her blood with her body convulsing in excruciating pain while she kept breathing heavily.
I saw as she kept pushing hard with all her strength, only for the baby to insist not coming out like it was sent to murder her.
"Kill the baby and save my wife!!" I had commanded, only for her to wag her head vigorously and push harder, finally forcing the baby out.
"She is a girl."
"They are twins!" The other is a boy. "
Those were the two words I heard before the worst happened right in front of my eyes.
Selene's entire body began to shake violently. Blood was now gushing out of her mouth. There was no strength to breathe. Just like a nightmare, she collapsed, her breath seized, and she died. My mate died in front of my eyes, leaving me with the baby that took her life. Not even my son could come out alive.
I slammed shut the door of my room in fury, falling heavily on the bed as hot tears seared my sockets.
Just then, a knock came on my door, and I frowned deeply, rising from my bed and feeling my salty tears roll down my cheeks and into my mouth. I was really pained, and even though it had been so many years, I still couldn't stop the pangs in my heart each time I recalled her.
I had removed all of her portraits and gotten drunk several times in an attempt to forget, but it was nearly impossible. My brain still has those memories of her stored in it.
"Alpha, I have something to tell you." I heard Aurora's voice from outside.
"You lied about seeing Ava take my bracelet. Even if I don't care about Ava, why will you lie to me? A mere omega!" I bellowed in anger, wondering what was wrong with Aurora that I picked up from the gutter. What the hell gave her the guts to lie to me? Even if she hates Ava, I hate lies.
"I was not lying. Let me in, please...I just found something, " she pressed on and my curiosity rose to its peak, pushing me up from the bed as I hurried to open the door.
"What do you have to say?" I inquired just immediately I opened the door.
She had her head bowed even after she had stepped in.
"Alpha, have you heard anything about Demon spies?" She asked gently, as if she was afraid of her own voice. Her statement made me confused as I peered at her with a questioning look.
She raised her gaze and handed a scroll in her hand to me.
"I found this in the pack library last night," she mumbled, and I took it
"What is it about demon spies?" I asked while opening the scroll.
"I think Ava is one of them," she replied softly, bowing lower, her statement made me shudder a bit
My eyes scanned through the write-up in the scroll, and for the first time in my life, I felt real fear spread through me.
~Sapphire blue eyes.
~Taking their mother's life at birth
~Acting weak and loyal while they spy with evil embedded in their hearts.
Those were the characteristics of every demon spy as written in this scroll.
"Does it mean that Ava is a demon?!" I gasped, throwing a sharp look at Aurora who had her hands clasped backwards, bowing humbly.
"She is very likely to be. So we have to check her real identity." Her reply came fast, like she was waiting for this question.
"Using the wolfsbane and silver is really a gruesome torture" I fumbled, unsure if I should really use it on Ava.
This is the greatest pain anyone could ever go through as it strikes deep into the soul, breaking every bone and causing the cells in the body to fight each other.
But only this way can a suspected wolf be proven not to be a demon or vampire in disguise.
It had been tested among slaves bought from other packs and it had really exposed some who had hidden in the disguise of wolves while they were vampires and demons sent for destruction.
"I am very sure she is a demon spy and had used her magic powers to get the bracelet back under the bed when you threatened her with the knife, because that could only explain why you didn't see it on the table where you always keep it. Don't you think so?" Aurora's words rang like a bell in my head, and my mouth went agape at how truthful her words sounded.
Gosh!
Ava might really be a demon, and once I find out, she must be killed instantly.
Jaden's POV "I can't fall in love. Mom, I don't even know what it is all about. I have no interest in it at all, so can you stop all this talking to me?" My voice was at its highest pitch. I was literally yelling at my mother as she sat beside me on the bed talking about love and how important it is in everyone's life. I was so angry and disgusted at the same time. "Son, you need to find the woman meant for you. You really have to give them a chance. Call out any girl in this kingdom or even outside this kingdom, and I will get her for you." She mumbled, blinking those blue eyes, which were already wet with sadness as she stared at me. "I don't like any girl in this world. You and Dad want me to find a woman to be my queen so I can rule this kingdom, right? Okay, the truth is that I am not capable. Someone else can take over me then if getting a mate is a must before I can be the next king!" I snorted, and got out of bed. "Son, do you even know what you are saying? Can you hear y
After almost 30 minutes, I was done bathing and as dressing up. While standing in front of the mirror as I combed my gold wavy hair downwards, I couldn't deny the fact that I was extremely cute. I mean, too hot and handsome, that it was frustrating to me. I mean, all this is useless and does nothing more than make girls act crazy around me and drooling over me. I had to walk around with body guards to avoid any of them from coming close to me. I got this almond-shaped sea rover-blue eyes and bristly eyebrows with hawkish nose and defined cheekbones with a concrete jaw giving me a perfect handsome face.I hissed and flung the comb away and that revealed my muscular arms and Titan’s shoulders through the short sleeve shirt I was putting on. Not even my broad chest and six packs could be hidden by the red shirt.Everyone kept telling me how flawless I was from head to toe with their cheesy smiles and eyes full of admiration. If only they knew how much I wish not to hear all that.Gosh!
Ava's POV I opened my eyes slowly but shut them back as a whimper escaped my lips. Immense pain was all I felt spreading around my left arm region, but that wasn't why my heart was broken. I can't believe once again I escaped death and just woke up from my unconsciousness. My prayers to die weren't answered again. My eyes ached as burning tears seared deep inside my eye sockets while my lips quivered as I sobbed in sadness. "What type of life is this?" I mumbled to myself. My heart seemed to be on fire from the sharp pangs I was feeling. It was a horror to see my father attack me with a knife. He didn't just threaten me with it, but had also struck me with the knife. Not only that, he ignored me even when I was bleeding and still went ahead to ask for his bracelet. I was dying from loss of blood, but the beast of a father didn't care even the smallest bit. At the end, the bracelet was found in his room. I was blamed and injured for something I have no idea about. "Oh, God, why
Ava's POV "What true identity are you talking about?" I asked in terror, panting as I began to understand what was about to befall me. Everything was becoming clear in my head, and now I can't help the quaking fear building up in me. "Are you a demon spy?" He asked calmly again. My body was so weak and exhausted as I hadn't eaten and also lost a lot of blood from the wound my father gave me and now I can't imagine going through the torture of silver and wolfsbane. What kind of scroll did Aurora find and how could it term me as a demon spy? Why the hell is my life this miserable? "If you don't believe me, then it's fine. Just get out of here and allow me to face my fate alone. Allow me to suffer and die since that's what everyone in this pack wants! If I am a demon, I won't let myself be inflicted with all these pains and tortures. I would have used my powers to kill all my oppressors. " I paused as my heart was now thumping so fast, causing my breath to hitch. My whole body was s
Finally, I entered the sitting room of the Royal Pack, and everywhere was dead silent, with dead bodies scattered around, cold and stiff with blue eyes open. I screamed in fear as the dead bodies seemed to be haunting. It forced me to shut my eyes, looking away. Once again, that hoarse, sarcastic laugh began. This time it was more intense and came from the royal palace, where my father could be. "No! No! No! This is not real!" I whimpered, sprinting erratically to the palace, as I prayed for wake. It should be a nightmare, but the more I ran forward to the palace with the laughter increasing in my head, the more I felt the sensation all over me. Everything appeared too real to be a dream. "Here she comes!!" That was what I heard just as I kicked open the door of the palace. "Ava!!" I heard that same feminine voice that had called me out in fear at the beginning. It was calling me again, but the difference was that I was seeing her right in front of me. A woman clad in a white roy
Ava's POV I found myself bursting into a loud cry, and the moment my mouth opened a bit, the fluid found its way in, and that instantly set my belly on fire. It was so extreme that my skin began to bleed. "Open that box and bring her out. It is already past an hour! She hasn't shown any signs of being a demon! Why is she still left in there?." Stan's voice echoed inside my ears, and it made my heart burn in rage. So it had passed one hour, yet those cruel souls still left me here. How much more wicked can they be? After a few minutes after Stan's words, the box opened and I was pulled out, feeling sore all over my body. My entire skin was hurting me like hell, so I had to gnash my teeth to avoid crying like a baby in front of them all. I really have to be strong before they push me to my death. My blood from the bleeding part of my skin was mixed with the liquid as they both drenched my body from head to toe. It was like I was injured in almost every one of me, both internal and
I swallowed the lump in my throat, closing my eyes tightly as the strange and unusual sensation rushed through me with a compelling force that made me shake in terror. I wasn't in my right senses anymore, and it felt like I was going to burst into a ferocious beast. "I will show you what the bald guy can do, right here and now! No need for shouting or struggling because no one can hear you from this soundproof room" I heard the guard's voice snarl at me, and each word was like fuel to the raging fire burning inside me. "Why are her eyes closed and she isn't screaming or struggling to escape?" Another voice, which sounded like that of the second guard, waved past my ears, and I tried to move my body, but it was like I was paralyzed to the ground. I was no longer in control of my body as it seemed to be disconnected from my brain. Now even my eyes could open again. Fear gripped me and I tried to scream, which was all but impossible. Lying hopelessly on the ground, I kept hoping to t
Jaden's POV Anger was all that filled my heart as I walked into the palace, puffing and huffing, my eyes bloodshot in fury that I felt like slapping these two creatures that bore me. My parents were at it again. They just succeeded in luring me into sleeping in the same room as the daughter of an Alpha back there in their pack. a girl I know nothing about. It was their other plan to make me fall in love, but little did they know it was all only making me fall in hatred deeper than they thought. "We received a message that you slapped the daughter of Alpha Brian!" My father growled just when he spotted me walking in. I knew the report would reach their ears quickly, and it vexed me that I didn't kill her instead. She was just lucky not to be adamant. I swear I won't spare her life. "You said I'd represent you at Alpha's first sons conference at the Dark River Pack. Why didn't you tell me how far the journey was?" I seethed, gritting my teeth as it was so clear what their plan was.
Lucas I watched her sleep though it had not been induced of her own accord. Ryker had shortened her breath and brought her to me in my room. At first, when I saw her, I thought she was dead because of how limp she laid in his big arms. However, after he explained the lengths he had to go to ensure he returned with her, I took her from him and placed her where she belonged; beside me in my bed. Since then, sleep deserted me, rendering me a guard over her. I threaded her hair between my fingers, combing gently and letting the soft tresses slide away. Her scent was light as she was unconscious but once she was awake, it would fill the air with its mouthwatering vanilla aroma. Her clothes were dirty from wherever she had been, dry clumps of dirt gluing to various areas of the dress. It was ruined for sure and eventually, I had to take them off her to prevent her from developing a rash. Undressing her came with its own difficulties. She would sigh occasionally in a sensual manner and my
“I can't believe you chose Lucas over your freedom, Miatta,” Addy kept saying over and over again after I had sent Ryker away. The pesky bodyguard had seen me on my back from the path and had suggested that I came with him. “No,” I had said to him, not taking more than a minute to make up my mind. “The festivities are over and he no longer has a reason to keep me cooped up in his room. It will be best for all if I returned to the slave room where I belong.” He was not convinced by my act of martyrdom but knowing Ryker, I was confident that he would not force me to do anything I didn't want to. He respected me not just as his master’s mate but as a person. He waited to see if I would change my mind but instead, I walked around him and continued on the route I had earlier set out. Lucas would not be pleased with him but I tried not to think about how Lucas was feeling. Bringing my roaming thoughts to the present, I saw disappointment boldly written on Addy’s face. I was disappointed
Miatta “You can't be serious, Miatta! You want to turn back now? Think about what you are about to do!” Ramona admonished at the top of her voice. I pulled her into the shadows and slapped my palm onto her mouth. “Unless you want to be caught and dragged back to that land of bondage, I suggest you lower your tone and listen to me!” She swallowed twice, her eyes damp and became calm. When I was sure she would not break down in tears, I lifted my palm off her lips and gave her my back. I couldn't explain the feeling I was having but I just couldn't leave Red Bone Pack. My heart was there, lying asleep in the woods while my body was planning on leaving. It just didn't seem right. “Once I get you over the mountains, you will go on without me. Don't look back, don't think about this land, about Addy or me. I will be fine. Stick to the shadows and when it is dawn, run as fast as your legs can carry you. You are a wolf and you can easily find your way once you channel your senses in the
Miatta By the time I returned to the path, I was exhausted from running all the way. My lungs were screaming at me for exercising that hard and I had to stop myself twice from falling on my face. I was still far from the secret passage and I pushed on, using my honed abilities anywhere the moonlight could not reveal to me. My conscience stabbed at me with every step I took and I starved it by thinking less of what I had done and more on what I was about to do. I would be home sooner than I ever anticipated since arriving at Red Bone Pack and I wasn't going to let my nosy, star-stricken wolf ruin it for me. Suddenly, I heard a mild rustling of leaves from somewhere behind me and I froze in place. My mind raced to conclusion that perhaps Lucas had not been sleeping after all and had trailed behind me. I gulped through a tight throat and held my breath, crouching into a squat. Whoever it was, I was determined not to be discovered. The footsteps drew closer and I peeped from where I was
Miatta Lucas dropped into a crouch, bones snapping and rearranging within him. His shifting phase looked painful yet intriguing, drawing attention to the spectacle. Thick sheaves of hair grew out on his neck and back and he howled long into the night. It caused shivers down my spinal column as I marveled at his animalistic beauty. Suddenly, he leapt off the ground, somersaulted in mid-air and landed gracefully on all fours. His clothes were in shreds at his feet and I stood in quiet adoration. His wolf had ink-black, almost oily fur, covering him from his head to his powerful paws. He sniffed at something in the air and turned his head towards me in expectation. His eyes were darker and mystic, compelling me to do anything he asked. In either form, he was a sight to behold and I was proud he was mine, all mine. As shifters, our eyes represented the colour of our fur. The eyes were the window to the soul and our animals were our soul. Without them, one was condemned to a unfulfilled
Miatta The festival night was heated and the excitement filled the air. Mated couples sat next to each other, necking and flirting openly while the single ones hoped for a match from the Goddess. Slabs of meat were served starting from the royal household and later, it was distributed amongst the pack. Even the slaves got a bit of everything though it wasn't in large amounts like those of the freeborns. Lucas gave me no excuses to leave his sight and was super clingy throughout the night. He decided he wanted to feed me himself and I obliged him to take any suspicions off me. He was charming and the little he knew, the better for both of us. However, I couldn't help searching the crowd for Addy. It was almost time for the free run and I had not set my eyes on either she or Ramona. My wolf was itching for action and I could feel her nipping at my guts. The lunar sensation was getting to her and I had to get away before I was pushed off by her. Our empty meal bowl lay at my side and
Miatta My visiting hour was up and I escorted Addy and her group back to the dark room. She pulled me in for a final hug and whispered shortly in my ear: “Do not forget your promise to me.” She had asked for my word and I had given it selflessly. Addy had never asked anything of me in the past and now that she had, I didn't want to let her down. Ramona was coming with me by nightfall. There was to be a wolf run and during that period, every shifter was free to do what he pleased, slave or freeborn. Many found their mates on the day of the Moon Festival while others just mingled sexually for the fun of it, a one-night only orgy. It was at that time when everyone was distracted that I planned to leave with Ramona. On my way back, shadows had fallen along my path, protecting me from the harsh sunlight. The weather was not hot however as chilly winds clashed with each other. Goosebumps were aligned on my upper arm and I rubbed my relatively warm palms along them. I mentally made plan
Mood SwingsMiatta “You bathed the Lycan Prince?” Ramona exclaimed, her eyes large in wonder. I grimaced, attempting a shy smile while Addy burst into laughter. “Well, he didn't give me a choice!” I retorted, wanting to defend myself. They were on garden duty but I sat with Addy, reminiscing the past events of the week. They were on garden duty but I was in a shade, discussing with Addy from there. Ramona chopped unevenly at the flowers, reminding me of the first time I had done the job. Lucas had come to my aid but then, he had been Luke to me. Subconsciously, a smile grew on my lips, my protest forgotten. “Someone is thinking of someone special,” Addy teased, using her shears skillfully like they were an extension of her arms. She was just so capable at everything, the shifter version of perfection. She juggled her brows at me, not losing sight of the shrub she was trimming. When I nodded in Ramona's direction, she twisted her neck at her understudy and gasped in horror. “Ramona
Miatta After my bath with Lucas, I began to give more thought to returning home. I loved Lucas truly but I loved my family first. They meant the world to me and I had to see them again even if it was for the last time. Lucas was uncharacteristically quiet, giving me more time to ponder my plans. “What do you think about Beta Logan?” he suddenly asked, taking me by surprise. I didn't know why he was asking me about the sneaky lycan and so, I was unsure of what answer to give him. Personally, Beta Logan made me uncomfortable in my own skin but I couldn't tell Lucas that because it would lead to him asking more questions. “I think he is very loyal to your father.” With my back to him, I heard rather than saw Lucas approach me from behind. He tugged on my arm, pulling me onto a stool. I didn't resist him, going along with whatever he wanted. He pinched the bridge of his nose, meditating on whatever he was about to say. “Cut the crap, Miatta. I asked you what you think of him as he i
