CHAPTER SEVENTY

When Riley met Dolph later that day, he was in a disheveled state, just like his thoughts.

He sat on a garden bench and he was just staring ahead at nothing in particular, she had never seen him this way. She shook his shoulders slightly, but he didn’t respond until she yelled his name into his ears.

He jolted and stared at her with anxious eyes. “Riley? What the hell are you doing here?” He asked, his eyes dazed and still distant from his thoughts.

“You look like a mess, Dolph. I wanted to talk to you but if it’s not the right time, I can-” He shook his head, and that made her stop talking.

“It’s okay, we can talk now.” He said, blinking severally as if that would help clear his thoughts.

She stared at him, assaying the state he was in. “Are you sure?” She asked and he nodded.

“Of course, never doubt the Beta’s words, forest girl.” He said firmly and she could see that he was getting a hold of himself gradually.
