“You have your mother's eyes.” he said.

What? He knew her mother?

Since her parents passing, Sera had never met any person who claimed or admitted to be close to her family.

In fact, everyone who actually knew and worked with her parents before their murder, stayed the hell away from her, because no one wanted her curse and bad luck to rub off on them.

What even made matters worse was that Sera barely had any memory of people and events that happened before the attack on her family.

It was as if the horror of that night had put a mental block in her brain which either erased or stopped her from accessing her earlier memories.

Carlos continued to stare at her intently while she tried to gather her thoughts and composure.

“You knew my mother?” She finally asked.

He gave a small sad smile. “I knew your parents, and you, in fact, I carried you with these same hands when you were little.

You used to love when I swung in my arms whenever I visited.
