ELIAS’ POV

After a long discussion with my father, I took a cab to a car company as I had it in mind to purchase a car.

“Good day sir. What car would you like to purchase?” The manager asked me respectfully.

“I’ll like you to show me the list of cars you have, and then I’ll pick the one my heart desires.” I said to the man, and he smiled, then gestured for me to follow him.

As I got to the garage, I nodded my head in approval as I scanned the lovely cars they had. And I decided to go with the Mercedes Maybach.

“I’ll take that.” I pointed out, and papers were signed to process everything.

As soon as I was done there, I drove it back home to where I and my love shared a lot together. On getting home, I dropped down on the sofa, and stared at the ceiling.

My thoughts drifted to Silas, Scarlet’s tutor. I just had a strange feeling about him. It felt as if something was wrong somewhere, but I couldn’t place my fingers on it.

I wasn’t even comfortable with Scarlet getting close to him as a

Scarlet was too nervous to check it out to an extent that she almost did not want to check it at all.“Scarlet, you need to muster up the courage to check this result out. Whether positive or not, it’s fine.” Elias urged, trying to make Scarlet take the step.Scarlet inhaled then exhaled before unlocking her phone again, and then she clicked on the text they sent her.“Dear Scarlet, we are pleased to inform you that you passed your medical exams as the top of the class. We are therefore happy to tell you that you are now a certified healer.”Scarlet screamed so loud that one would think she went crazy, all of a sudden. Elias who had guessed from the way she screamed, got excited, and held her hand, eagerly waiting for her to break the news to him.“Elias, I passed!” Scarlet voiced out, and laughed happily. “Not only did I pass, I passed as the top student. I can’t believe it. It feels like a miracle.” Scarlet said, on her toes like she was a toddler, smiling after being given a candy.

The next day, Scarlet got up from bed, and had her bath as she was getting ready to go over to the medical center to get her results. She was excited and happy because she never imagined that she would be going back to collect her results at the medical center in a good mood. And best of all, she was a top student. She knew how proud her mom would have been if she was still alive, but she decided not to ruin the day by thinking deeply about her mother. As soon as she was ready, she hurried up to the medical center, and on getting there, she ran into Silas.“Hey Scarlet. You came to receive your results, right?” Silas asked, with a smile on his face.“Yes, I did.” Scarlet smiled back, almost jumping on her toes.“So, I’m guessing you did really great.”“Yes! Thank you so much for the encouraging words. I really appreciate it.” She said to him, beaming with smiles.“You’re welcome. Anyways, I always knew you could do it. Right from the start.”Scarlet giggled, and then the screams of ot

SCARLET’S POVI sat up abruptly, sweating heavily, and my chest was heaving up and down while my heart was beating fast. It was such a terrible and weird nightmare. One I do not want to have anymore. But then, now that I thought about it, trying to get the picture of the dream, and what could be the meaning behind it, I found it difficult to remember it.I couldn’t even remember a little detail. I got down from the bed, feeling really thirsty, and I walked down to the sitting room, then poured myself a glass of water as soon as I got to the dining room.I gulped down the chilled water, and felt relieved. And then I noticed that a dim light shone on the curtains. Was it dawn already? I guess I’ll just have to wait until the sun comes up.I laid on the sofa, staring at the ceiling, and waiting until morning came, but I didn’t know when I slept off again.“Scarlet.” I heard Elias call my name, and I squeezed my eyes, and opened it gradually.“It’s morning, babe. Didn’t expect to see you

ELIAS’ POVI got so confused on Scarlet’s weird behavior. It was obviously not the way she does act before, and for her to tell me that she was going to see Silas, without caring if it was going to hurt my feelings or not, was the highest of it all.I decided to talk this out with someone who could probably understand what I would narrate to him, and that was none other than my father’s personal healer. He is the oldest healer in the kingdom and has certainly gone through a lot, and seen a lot that would make him more experienced. Definitely, he ought to have an answer to Scarlet’s weird behavior.I wouldn’t want something that would make Scarlet become something else that’s not possible to revive. Also, rather than checking the pack’s archives for any information on Elias, it would be best to ask Elder Raymond, straight away.I got back to my pack, and sought for the oldest healer, Sir, Raymond.“Good day sir.” I greeted him as I was welcomed into his abode.“To what do I owe this pl

ELIAS’ POVI walked towards home to inform my father about everything I found out from the healer. Certainly, it was the best idea, and action to take, rather than to ponder on it for a long while.I got to the sitting room, and approached a guard to know of my father’s whereabouts, instead of going around to search for him.“Where is my father, at the moment?” I questioned, with authority.“He’s currently in his study, young prince.” He answered me respectfully, and without a word, I went towards my father’s study. On getting there, I met him going through some important papers, and even as I knew it meant he was busy, this one was more important. After all, no one would query the king for not doing his work at the stipulated time. The only thing that made us in the royal family of this pack to stand out was our dedication to the pack, and discipline. My father looked at me like he was baffled on why I had just come in, and didn’t bother apologizing, and saying I would come back, as

Scarlet’s wolf was reaching out to Elias, and as he felt it within him, he felt this hope, and certainty that he would find her.“It’s Scarlet, Carla. Her wolf is trying to reach out to me.” Elias informed, and Carla shot up from her chair, concerned, and hoping Scarlet was fine.“Where is she?” She asked, out of worry.“I need to listen deeply to know where she is exactly.” Elias said, and then both he and Carla went quiet.Elias listened and eagerly waited to hear Scarlet’s wolf cry out, and when her wolf did, he signaled to Carla for them to start searching. While searching, he was hoping that nothing bad had happened to her.“Scarlet, please hold on.” He muttered under his breath as he went through the woods. Then he looked back at Carla. She was also struggling to keep up with him, and he really appreciated the kind of genuine friendship she has with Scarlet.Suddenly, Elias halted, and Carla wondered what was going on.“What’s going on?” Carla asked, out of curiosity.“I can’t s

ELIAS' POVMy eyes opened to dim lighting, and the smell of damp, and packed earth. There was a single candle fixed onto a table, and around it were Brad, and Silas chuckling to themselves about something. In a few seconds, my eyes adjusted fully to the dim lighting, and I could see rough, and bent walls all around.Somewhere around, I could hear the faint echoes of water slowly dripping. The only explanation for that was we had been taken into the cave. That meant we were still in the forest, but I could not sense anything from outside.I could not even hear the chirping of the birds in the forest, or the animals calling out to each other. Everywhere was silent save for Brad, and Silas' voices. Just how deep within the cave had they dragged us?Then, I noticed Carla next to me, and tried to wake her, but finally realized what I ought to have realized moments ago. I was tied up.She was too.I began to nudge her gently with my hands which were tied behind me. It took some effort, but

Elias couldn't believe his eyes that Scarlet was really going to try to kill him. He tried to convince himself that Scarlet wouldn't try to harm him, but her eyes which showed seriousness and glared at him made him have second thoughts.“Scarlet, you shouldn't listen to what he's saying. You can break free from his spell. I know you're in there.” Elias raised his voice, hoping it would jolt out whatever was controlling Scarlet from the inside. But Scarlet's eyes didn't budge, neither did it flutter like she came back to her senses. She was still hell bent on carrying out her master's orders. She moved at a fast pace, and held Elias shoulder down as she raised her hand to slit his throat easily. On the other hand, Carla managed to break free from where she was bound to, and she charged towards Silas to attack him.As she got closer to him, she gave him a mark with her claw, on his chest and he groaned.“You silly brat. You have guts!” He yelled and grabbed her hair without emotions.Ca

SCARLET'S POV. Egg after egg dropped, filling the space, and I couldn't help the feeling of raw panic eating me up. I had ever seen such a monster with different traits. It has pincers like scorpions and made loud noises. It buzzed like a bee, and was so solid even though it was made of ants. It was laying eggs which was really unbelievable, but what scared me was that I didn't know what would happen if the eggs happened to hatch. What creature would we see there, and how would they eat us up?I took in deep breaths, as me and Elias were pushed together. I couldn't help myself. It felt like I would suddenly scream, and go out. The eggs fell against us, and it was then I knew I couldn't help myself. “Elias!” I called out, as my hand closed over his shirt tightly. My mouth opened wide, and I fought for breath, but couldn't find it. “Scarlet, Scarlet, breathe!” Elias said, looking at me intently, as I hit my chest, trying to breathe. My eyes filled up with tears, and it felt like I w

RALPH'S POVEstelle looked at us all, enjoying the looks of shock on the faces of the men. Then she walked over to me, and bent, placing a hand on the table, and the other behind my chair. I wouldn't deny the ice in her eyes. Everything about her seemed cold, and although I hated her being that close to me, I did not budge. I stared at her right in the eye, without fear. “You must be having a hard time, right?” She spoke softly. “Well, I've had a harder time.” She said, then straightened up, without taking her eyes off me for a second. She seemed to built for revenge, and in her eyes were the echoes of pain, and cold. She took a few steps backwards, before giving a smile that didn't reach her eyes, then she turned away, walking out of the hall. The elders all looked like they had been holding their breaths, and they let it out quickly, looking at each other. “I believe we've discussed all we need to discuss.” I said, getting to my feet. Sitting around, doing nothing was something

RALPH’S POVI dressed in my room, trying hard so time wouldn't run out on me. There was a council meeting scheduled for the day, and I had to attend instead of Elias. The council elders had sent in multiple envelopes, all demanding to see Elias. ‘Where is the Alpha?’‘What is the Alpha planning on doing?’‘Is Alpha Elias aware that things are becoming even worse?’They had sent in all kinds of questions, and I understood their impatience. It was all stemming from the fear Estelle had woven into their hearts. A knock came on my door. “Come in.” I said, brushing my hair. If I didn't look my best, they would assume Elias didn't know what he was doing, and that he had just put some random person on his throne. I really hoped he and Scarlet would make it back alive, and quickly because I was in no way fit for an Alpha. A maid walked in with toast on a tray. “No, no, I'm fine. I didn't ask for breakfast.” I said, but she didn't retreat. “Before leaving, Alpha Elias gave me strict ord

SCARLET’S POVWe fell mercilessly, hitting the rough edges, getting bruises all over. I landed on the ground with my head in an awkward position, before straightening up, and looking at Elias, who was sprawled on the ground, breathing hard, as he looked up at the sky. I looked around. Apparently, we had fallen in some kind of hole. Due to taking quick hasty breaths, the dust managed to get into my nose, and I sneezed hard. We heard the strange buzzing sound, and I covered my mouth, only for another sneeze to come true. I sneezed again, and Elias scrambled to his fist to cover my mouth. I held his hand there, willing myself not to sneeze. Eventually, I let out a tiny one, and with my eyes watering, I looked around, taking Elias' hands off my mouth. Everywhere was dusty. It was probably because we had fallen through it. All the dust seemed to be settling. “What do we do now?” I whispered, giving a little cough, as I tried to swipe the dust away from settling on my face.“I think w

THIRD PERSONIt wasn't just Elias who felt the tendrils of fear squeezing his heart. Scarlet felt it too, and it felt like her chest was on fire, just from wondering what would happen. The mere terror that the clanging sound generated made her heart beat faster at every clang. It was too much for her to handle. She looked around repeatedly, and the soft wind whipped her hair into her face, which she brushed back with both hands. Already, her palms were cold and sweaty, and the anxiety was just too much. She needed the suspense to be over. “What do you think that is?” She asked Elias, still looking around, trying to guess what could be the reason for the weird sound. “I have no idea.” Elias replied, as the sound grew louder. “We should… I think we should move on.” Scarlet suggested, wanting to make a move. It was so obvious that whatever was approaching them with the weird sound wasn't single. It wasn't two, nor was it three. It was definitely a lot.“I say we wait.” Elias replied,

ELIAS’ POVI couldn't understand the fear and anxiety filling me up. It wasn't the first time Scarlet and I had been on a journey, or been faced with dangerous creatures, and people, but still there was that nervousness. That whispering voice that told me my fears were not twisting lies in my head, but trying to bore the truth into me. Something really awful could happen, and I might be unable to escape it with Scarlet by my side. Either way, I hated the feeling. The whole place spoke, and gave an aura of power, dark power, and it boasted too easily of how we could get killed. It was the main reason for my fears. The man looked at us, and even without the features on his face, I was somehow able to tell that he had a smile on. Then, I looked at Scarlet. She also seemed lost in thoughts, and it would be the best time to try to convince her, but she would despise me for it. It was better I carried out her wish, than to let my fear get the best of me. “We are willing to try. After

Scarlet and Elias couldn’t help but admit within themselves that they were overwhelmed by fear. Elias knew how dangerous the journey was, and this made him even more scared. “Well, hello.” The man spoke, in an eerie tone. “Who the hell are you?” Elias managed to question him, as they were both wary of him. “A question which actually isn’t the major concern. But I’ll tell you one thing. If you dare try to escape, because it’s only expected of you to want to run from me, you won’t be able to get to the world beyond.” “Uhn!” Elias exclaimed softly, not knowing whether to believe the man or not. “Yeah. To make things more understandable for you, I am the passage to the world beyond, which only means without me, you can’t go into the world beyond. So, now, I hope you know that it is only unwise of you to run from me. And if you have enough time to waste, you can actually run from me, and when you realize you’ve been wasting your time, you’ll come back, and definitely meet me here.” Bo

SCARLET’S POV It was dawn already, and was time for us to set out for her journey. If it was an outing, I would have been so excited about it, but then, it was a dangerous journey which we are just going on for the sake of a friend which we have taken as a family. Even from the name, the world beyond, one would have known that it isn’t a place one can take lightly. For Elias to have been so adamant on us not going there, it was evident that it wasn’t like other dangerous places that we have gotten ourselves into. “Are you certain you are ready?” Elias asked me as we headed towards the woods. “I am more than ready.” I responded to him, not wanting to sound discouraging. Even if I wanted to sound discouraging, it shouldn’t be from here when he could easily turn back and by then, whatever I do, might not make him change his mind, anymore. We didn’t have to walk too much before we got to the woods, and that only made me feel a little anxious. But then, I had to stop myself from getti

Just look for better ways to convince him regarding something than hurting yourself. Well, let me leave you to go over to meet him. I’m sure he’s so annoyed with both you, and himself. You’ve got to make him feel he isn’t making the wrong decision.” “Alright! On getting to the garden, I saw him standing and gazing at the sky with both hands in his pockets. I knew he was going through a lot, and had a lot of responsibilities burdening him.
