It all felt too surreal—everything that Killian was telling Brynn, she sat and listened to it all, finishing out his stories that had made sense.

But there was no way she could trust someone who had truthfully told her he bought her as a slave, right? What if he was just lying to her? Boy, she knew she couldn't deny that he was Kieran’s father.

And there was something more to her, something that made her heart ache anytime their eyes met. Brynn was tired; she wanted to close her eyes as she began to feel dizzy.

"I've kept you awake for so long; you need rest, Brynn,” Killian noted as she stood her and walked her to another door. "Kieran will be up there, and I hope you truly believe me, Brynn,” Killian said as she left her.

She watched his retreating figure as he went back downstairs. A part of her wondered how he gave her so much joy to run away right now; even if she wanted to, the mansion was too big to even start thinking of a way to.
